I get the hypocrisy about Trump's father or grandfather changing the name, and being proud of one's heritage, but I'm bothered by the underlying mocking of the name Drumpf. I knew a man last name Stumpf. Yeah, a funny name, but are "we" also making fun of it because it's "different?" Seems like stooping a bit to his level. Shrug

What a colossal POS. I played bass in a band back in the day. We were on the road and were given rooms in the hotel where we worked. The drummer was a skeeve who pretended to be nice and normal. He had reversed my peephole without me knowing. He bragged to the piano player  who promptly told me about it.

Okay, I'm confused. I watched the first two segments, and I thought Joy was saying that the video is impossible to scrub off the internet. That it's linked to a porn site, so it's there forever, and that her kids, grandkids might one day see it? I'll have to rewind and rewatch.

I read an Erin Andrews article yesterday, and was surprised at the comments.  It was either CNN or MSNBC, and the comments were nasty.  The video is so blurry you can't even tell it's her, it's a money grab, she monopolized on the situation to get jobs.  And best of all - but she dresses in such provocative clothes, what difference does it make.  Slut shaming at its finest.

 

I'm confused by Raven's stance on Trump.  Does she support him or not?  She seemed angry when Whoopi was picking on him, then added an insult or two of her own.  Does Raven simply like to be oppositional?

Again with Sara pontificating how her "time is valuable" during the discussion about whether you like your friend's significant other and if you don't, how do you handle having your friend bring him or her over. Just the way Sara was talking about it, when saying if you are friends with another couple...just...ugh.

 

And TREBLE UGH to what Raven does.  I would think, that if a friend starts dating someone you don't like, you have that conversation when, you know, they start dating.  Friend shouln't have to learn you can't stand them or they make you uncomfortable when significant amount of time has passed.

 

So. Alice Walker, seeing Whoopi do her Valley Girl stand up, was what made her think Whoopi was the perfect person to play Celie? Which wasn't a comedic role. Mmmmokaythenfine.  Makes perfect sense!

 

 

ETA: Ahhhh, I missed the lashing, lashing, latching exchange because I had stepped away, but thought I heard everything.  I didn't see Whoopi lean down or hold her finger to her ear, as she has done in the past when someone is talking to her in her ear piece. It was a smooth transition, and I'm going to assume whoever is typing the dialogue on the Teleprompter, changed it to latching in BIG GIANT FONT.

 

Okay, I stand corrected. Joy did ask why the video of Erin couldn't be removed, but she wasn't yelling it or getting out of control over it. Sunny explained why--that it was now on a porn site, and unlike copyrighted materials, where the owners of the copyright/company can remove the videos from youtube (episodes of television shows or movies for example), this was a private video that was taken by a private individual.

The point isn't to make fun of the name Drumpf, but rather to disassociate him from the name Trump since "trump" is a brand that people (wrongly) associate with success. If you watch the John Oliver video, it may clarify it for you.

I didn't watch the show today, but this post reminded me that this was pretty much what Bitsy said about the incident when Andrews was on DWTS? Then someone at ABC or ESPN, which were both part of the same company,  made her apologize.  Remember Bits made up some story about her [then] four or five  year old daughter telling her to apologize for hurting someone's feelings?   Anyway, i remember it and every time I see Erin Andrews or hear about Erin Andrews (I'm not a pro-sports follower) I think of Bitsy and her dumbass big mouth.   Good times.

Instead of talking abt pregnancy and babies, religion, other tv shows/celebrities, or selling products, I would rather they talked about world topics including politics, environment, changes in society, and specific women's issues, but then they would have to do homework, or just watch the news regularly and read a newspaper, blog, or even a book, to be able to render an informed view, which won't happen. Idiots.

Its disappointing that they have veered so far away from Barbara's original great idea to have women from different backgrounds talk about important issues. IMHO, The Talk is dumb in a different way...much more watered down talk about similar moronic internet and celebrity issues. I hate Julie's fake serious voice announcing each topic like it's oh-so-important. Boring. Cant watch it. (Plus I'm dying to change Sara's hairstyle and makeup to be more flattering.)

I watch the spew sometimes to enhance my enjoyment of this forum and understand the jokes more appreciably. You guys make my occasional viewings worthwhile. Fast-forward option is essential.

Since when is the issue of Koch money in politics new? I've been hearing about them for years, if not decades. (And of course Paula has to chime in with the knee jerk "what about Soros?" as if that makes what the Kochs are doing ok.). Funny coincidence, the headline of our newspaper this morning was about the $3million grant to our local university from Charles Koch and Papa John Schnatter. Image repair indeed.

For all of Miss Whoopi's political acumen you'd think she'd know that Koch doesn't rhyme with crotch, and hey, she even read the book! Koch's money is being spent on gerrymandering state legislature districts, voter suppression, doing away with environmental and financial regulations, defunding public education . . . It's how the money is being spent that matters, not that both sides do it.

Can't stand Mitt Romney. Who even cares what he said about Trump? It's not going to stop Trump from being the nominee and Trump will respond like a child, so what was the point?

 

For the first time I was thankful to see Sara. When the co-hosts were walking out, I thought we had another Candace/Paula combo on our hands and then it zoomed in on the woman's face and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Watched today. Here's my humble opinion about their discussion regarding Sara's impending delivery. Has anyone else noticed that epidurals have become a common practice in today's obstetrics. I have relatives and friends who have given birth in the past couple of years and every one of them have had epidurals.

 

I did appreciate Whoopi saying what I would have said. That not everyone gets an epidural.

 

I guess I don't recall or wasn't paying attention to when natural childbirth gave way to having epidurals routinely. Just weird IMHO after all the focus on childbirth as a natural thing and not needing routine medical intervention but rather medical watchfulness in case anything goes wrong.

I know Bob is a really dirty comic and there are things I don't like about him. It's hard for me to totally hate on him though after watching the TV movie he made about his sister who passed away from scleroderma. I only saw it when it aired originally but remember being really moved by it even though I was younger then.

My friend and I once looked up all the companies that the Koch brothers own so that we could boycott them.  All vast multi-million (polluting as they said today) huge conglomerates.  We could only find one that we could boycott - whatever company makes a certain brand of toilet paper.  Big whoop as Suzanne Sugarbaker would say.  Can't even remember which co. it was... But we tried...

Koch owns Georgia Pacific Angel Soft toilet paper. I don't use that brand but I would boycott if I did.
