From McComb, Mississippi, L’aPorsha Renae says the thing she enjoys most about music “is that it is such a universal language.”

I'd say LP is the best vocalist of the entire top 10 this year. She's a beast with runs. However if she wins I'm not sure how successful she would be. I picture her doing 1 album and then getting dropped, which would be a giant waste for the last winner.

Her styling needs work as I think it makes her look 40 instead of 22 (can't believe we are really the same age) but the styling was much better last week for Diamonds and they started to rein the ridiculous hair in. But oh well I have the feeling LP likes the hair and wouldn't be willing to change it.

She may be a beast with runs... but even still she does too many. Not quite enough yet to totally make me turn on her, but it's GOING to happen if she doesn't learn some restraint, and soon. All the judge overpraise in the world isn't going to change that.

She was on the borderline in this episode with Kelly. Still on the "proper" side of "not too much"... but it was close.

She did gain some respect from me with how honestly she reacted to Kelly's song. La'Porsha was crying like a baby halfway through the song. It backs up her words about how she sees music.

She doesn't wear wigs...she'll add a few hair pieces...BUT majority of the wig is all natural, she explained it on periscope. Also, she used black hair dye this week..it wasn't a black wig lol.I love that she isn't changing for anyone.

Wig or no wig, it just looks nasty, like flies are about to fly out of it.  I'm also curious where the "few hair pieces" are.

I'm from a time when people wore big afros but they weren't that big, more like what Prince wears, and they looked good.  But LaPorsha's?  No.  Just, No.   Sure, she doesn't have to change herself for anyone, but that also means that I don't have to go see her in concert or buy her music, post American Idol if I don't like what I see.

I really find her  hair not attractive on her and she is a cute woman. I hate the hair. It is just too much. And I said the same when Christina A. did that style . Not a fan. Also I hate all the runs. If I had twitter I'd tweet her to please god stop with the melisma already. I could be an almost fan if not for all that....

I don't think she wears wigs. That's her real hair.

She definitely implied it was her hair in this episode, saying in 22 years no one but her mother has ever cut or colored it, until she let the Idol stylists tweak it now.

I do think it is her own hair and I heard it that way too.

How does her saying she doesn't let anyone style it except her mom imply it's a wig? That just means she's uncomfortable with anyone doing anything to it.

It doesn't, it implies to me it's her hair.

I give the side eye to "a few pieces of hair."  Since she doesn't wear a full wig she wanted to end the chatter with that little clip.  She only confirmed, to me, that it was mostly fake.  I think the change in color was directly related to feedback about how hideous the camel color was.

I believe it's her hair; I strongly doubt could even buy a wig like that, other than the ridiculous gauzy rainbow ones (and even they aren't that big) and it's not like it would be cheap if you could.

Some folks believe having bigger hair balances out a bigger body. If she didn't have that shrub on her head, she might look like a little pea-head sitting atop a large bosom.

There is a happy medium.  That is definitely a wig!   There is just no getting around that.  It is hideous.

But I'm pretty sure in a Periscope she said it's her real hair? I don't care if she wears a wig or not, but I just find it strange why she'd say it's her real hair if it isn't?

Her wording could have been deceiving.  It is real hair. It is my hair (I bought it).

She said it is her hair with a few extra pieces.  Well no. If your hair is so large that you only need a few extra pieces then you don't need a few extra pieces!   If true, there are A LOT of extra pieces!

Ronald Reagan said he didn't dye his hair.  Well, he didn't "dye" it, he used metallic salts.   There are ways around the truth.

Maybe "no one but my mom has touched my hair in 22 years" means she and LaPorsha keep it buzzed short in order to more easily wear wigs.

It's a pretty clownish wig.  It looks hot and heavy.  The things we do for beauty.

I have been done with this show for many seasons now but I do the FF buzz through stopping at the judges comments.  I love this crew  of judges and if they had taken over sooner perhaps this show could have seen a revival in interest.  Doesn't matter, it didn't happen, it is done.

I have not been paying close attention so my comment is probably considered inappropriate by many.  Why is this wigged, over the top run woman still there?  I don't like her but most of the posts I read think she is the winner.  Okay.  Lie about anything and I am gone.  That is NOT your real hair.  Don't lie to me.  Seriously that has me annoyed and doesn't seem to bother anyone else.  I hate lying and about such an obvious thing!? Why the fuck do you do this you faker, La Poria?  Why?  Does it benefit you in any way?

I get her as a performer sometimes, and I think she can be compelling to watch- the hair helps, imho, as does her story- but as a vocalist she seems pretty limited in terms of her range and her ability (or willingness, maybe) to sustain notes. To me she never quite gets where I expect her to go, and in the pantheon of Idol "divas" I feel like she's by far the weakest.

She'll be a decent winner if she pulls it off, but I wish they'd dialed back the hype a bit so it doesn't feel so forced.

People Magazine's Idol writer said it's been "hers to loose (sic) all along."  LOL

I don't give a crap about La'Porsha's hair. It's stuff like this that makes me crazy. Is People depending on spellcheck, or can they not afford a proofreader who can actually spell?

I think the fact that her hair has changed this week speaks to the fact that it's NOT her real hair.    Come ON!   No way anyone spends 15 hours having their hair done into those little twisty things, then has it taken down, DYED, and ends up looking healthy and shiny and bouncy.

I'm still  not seeing (hearing, really)  anything so fantastic about her voice.  There have been so many Idol singers that are similar, but better, from past seasons, I don't see the originality and talent that warrants the praise she gets on the show.

I think the reason she's lasted so long is because of the talk about those wigs.  I haven't been on other boards but I imagine it's a hot topic.  It's got nothing to do with her voice because I agree that it's nothing special.

I believe she lasted this long was that the producers wanted her to stay!  The praise for her started early--JLo essentially crowned her the winner at the start of the finalist's competition rounds.  Perhaps because AI doesn't want to be branded as a "white-guy" competition show, which would hurt ratings enormously.

So many posts totally player-hating on this girl's hair. Really? LOL. This is clearly because her singing and her stage presence cannot be discredited. I LOVE her various hairstyles/wigs by the way. It's the added thing that makes her so great and a joy to watch and listen to.

I dont care if her hair is "real" and I don't think she needs to tell me her personal business about her hair. Im not crazy about it, but it's not my business.

Also, If she had gotten a baby sitter (i e baby off camera) , and not talked so much about her journey, sad as it was - she may have won this thing. .

There's nothing she could've done to win on this show; they really did pull out all the cards for her because they knew how hard it would be for a woman. Unfortunately, they should've followed season 12's plan if they wanted one.

I'm really surprised they managed to get girls as talented as they have (like La'Porsha) the last few years when it became obvious a white guy could burp his way to the finale and win.
