This is so true. I'm going to be blunt. Fat  people who have an unhealthy BMI like to refer to themselves as curvy. No. You are fat. I'm curvy. I'm a DD, tiny waist, booty, hips from childbearing, but I'm a size 6. I'm healthy. Big diff.

I personally have this strange feeling that she's just going to get "weaseled in" vs physically being in camp, earning her spot. After seeing Amy 2X in person last football season, no one will convince me she looks as good as ANY of the others.  She was the largest by far (as was Holly however, she got in shape)& she still stands out for me because of those hips.

Yeah but with Amy it's not a weight issue. It's a hips issue. She could lose 10 pounds and her hips will still be prominent. You said yourself, her stomach is flat. Her face isn't fat. She's not fat. She just isn't. That's just the way she's built.

I agree with what you are saying above.  BUT!  To play the Devil's advocate here?  My guess is that Amy T. - whose physique started this whole conversation - is probably right around a size 6, if not smaller.  Personally I think Amy looks amazing, curves for days but lean and fit.

I have no idea why I didn't see your SECOND post on Amy.  Yes, yes, yes!

Re Kelsey making mistakes in every number at Meet the Team -- ouch! Very bad. That's kind of letting down your whole team at that point. Once you're in the uniform, it's not all about you, and you need to pull your weight to look like a solid unit. I'm so curious to see how she's portrayed this season. I have not been a fan of hers the past two auditions, based on her horrid interview performances, but folks on here have sung her praises to the extent that I decided to reserve judgement. But I have little patience for people being unprepared or ignorant when there's not a good excuse (poor public education, for example, would be a reasonable excuse in many cases, but definitely not this one). And if she's just not good under pressure, that's unimpressive and not up to DCC standards. She clearly had a certain performance power, but now it's sounding like she also hasn't worked enough at improving her dance  technique on top of this. Being gorgeous and sweet (as some here have said she is) isn't enough to be a Dcc these days. So, I shall see come next week (yes!!!) what I think of her this year. 

As for Erica being behind the point, that's a bit tricky and did surprise me. Usually taller girls have that spot (Lauren, Kinsey, etc), which makes sense. I'd thought Lacey would be there. It's great for filming games, which is probably what they care about most. And there's the whole limited blondes factor others have mentioned. Too many brunettes together (or blondes) make for a visual blob, so I get why they have Melissa and Amy where they are. Maybe they preferred having her more centered than in the front row but far down the line, like Lacey is now. Kudos to Claire for making the front line, though!

From what I saw last night Kelsey had this glassy, doe eyed look. Her arm placement wasn't bad, but I was personally distracted by her feet. Simone and Yuko sat out a majority of the night but did perform with their group for their feature quarter change. kyndall was there last night too. She's a very gracious and poised young lady.

 

That being said, it's preseason. Everyone has improved since the beginning of TC, but more improvement can be made. Certain girls that lacked power dug deep, others who needed to kick higher got them up, and those that just needed a miracle...well they found one!

 

I'm becoming more and more fond of this team the more it molds and meshes together. It'll be a good season. :)

RE: squad photo: 

This is the 2nd year with 2 redheads (Stephanie & Claire ) in the 3rd row. Last year it was Loren & Rachel.

I noticed more girls in the first 3 rows opposed to other seasons where there were a lot more rookies in 4th and 5th rows.

Can someone name the rookies in the order they appear? I'm only familiar with a few of them.

Any other rookies that cheered for other pro teams beside Kelli Q and Tasha?

I hope whoever is in charge of putting this picture on the DCC site lists ALL of the girls names in it. They never fixed last year's (no names for 5th row) picture.

Yup, exactly.  The 2X I  saw her in person, ESPECIALLY FROM THE REAR, she looked big. Hey, I have big hips so I know what I speak of. 

We can agree to disagree on Amy. I don't think those hips appear either slender or remotely like any other DCC. IMO an obvious exception has been made. I don't like exceptions, since they tend to not be fair.

Done discussing hips. How excited are we to see season 11? I recently saw Mad's parents, and let me just say this....they were so happy, proud & downright cute regarding their daughter. I am so happy for all of the Massengill family.

I used to be a size 3 in pants when I was a teen and my hips grew really rapidly after 18. If I lost the 20 extra pounds I gained with birth control I still wouldn't look great because of my huge hips. I've been told it's a good thing for birthing though lol. Amy looks great, her hips have nothing to do with it. Certain times she does look big in the middle but there's nothing she can do about it.

On the field and on the HD screen Amy looks good. You can tell she works out, eats healthy, and takes care of herself. I will agree sometimes she photographs bigger, but she definitely fits in with the rest of the team.

 

Now Megan on the other hand was alarmingly large. She's always had a beautiful statuesque figure, but on the HD screen you could tell she had a bad muffin top and was trying to hide her tummy with her poms. Her cheeks even looked fuller. I'm honestly surprised she wasn't benched but I believe she is one of Kelli's favorites.

 

Everyone else looked good IMO.

I've said it before, Megan's parents are both obese. She's going to have to watch every bite she eats to stay lean. Every calorie. It sucks.

There is a nifty little invention called photoshop...

 

And who who knows I don't see her daily. Maybe she was bloated. But she didn't look like the rest of the team. I'm not trying to be mean, but she needed a larger short size. She's a beautiful dancer but not teeny tiny.

I would say Erica's spot is much more prime than Megan's. Megan is center of her row, but a few rows back. She's probably there because she's tall, but I would say Erica, Danielle, and Jenna are the stars of the picture.

I think a few of them need a larger short.  The DCC in the background of some pics that appeared during the photo shoot of the team pic had their shorts going right up into their butt and some cheeks def hanging out.  It didn't look good.

Lol y'all act like I'm calling her a lard ass and I'm not. In the past girls have been called out for less weight gain. There are girls smaller than her that are on weight watch too. I just don't think it's fair because certain fans will call her "the fat cheerleader". No one wants that. She doesn't, K+J don't, and i most certainly don't. I've been there and it's awful. But at the end of the day there are standards.

IMO It seems like a prime spot because most of your body is shown.

Some other DCCs who had it in the past: 

2008 & 2009 Brooke (2nd & 3rd yr vet)

2010- Ashton  (2nd yr vet)

2011- Whitney (4th yr vet)

2012- Sydney  (5th yr vet)

2013- Lauren (3rd yr vet)

2014- Nicole (5th yr vet) 

2015-Kinzie ( 4th yr vet)

I'm not saying it isn't a good spot. I just don't think it's the BEST spot. The last three girls to be there were also tall, and I think that's why they put her there. I bet it would have been Caila if she hadn't been cut.

I'm curious to see what's addressed on the show this year in terms of girls on WW. Will Megan's weight "problems" be highlighted or will they leave it alone because she's a favorite? I like Megan and wish they would just curtail the weight talk on the show altogether, but we know that won't happen.

What happened to Caila?  I did not know she was cut.

Caila was let go at finals this year. Speculation is that it was a combination of weight gain and underage public partying.

Honestly, no heterosexual male is calling Amy T fat. In fact I would guess a huge part of why she is brought back is fan response and the input of the men in that judging room. Some women are going to harp that she is fat on a message board, and maybe some people in the sacred "Dallas dance community" will talk -- although it seems that there is a reason to talk about everyone, so who really cares?

i don't buy for one second the process is somehow obligated to be "fair". They are filling spots, and choosing girls of various types to appeal to different tastes.

I don't think anyone here is calling Amy T fat. (I take that back. Maybe one person is. Sorry not sorry.) There's a difference between fat and having a different body type than the rest of the squad. Amy obviously has an amazing body and is very fit. It's just that from certain angles she does stand out compared to the rest of the squad. I don't think it's a bad thing and I think it's actually great that there is a girl on the team with a somewhat more "real" body shape. But I can certainly see it from both sides and understand where people are coming from when they refer to her as being an unfair exception. There have been girls cut in the past who were a little hippier or bottom heavy but were still in great shape. Katie Schouten always comes to mind. I just think that Amy T brings so much to the table in terms of facial beauty, dance ability, and intelligence that K&J would be nuts to not have her on the team.

Anyway, that's my speech and I'll shut up now. :)

RE Kelli being a celeb in Dallas: yes and no. Yes, in certain circles- social, pro sports or celeb- she has a bit of status. 

But at the same time, she is a big fish in a small pond. Oil  and gas dominate here. That scene has its own celebrity circles.  Tech, finance and giant corporations all have powerhouse presence.

Some of America's biggest corporations are headquartered in Dallas ( and when we say Dallas, we mean the entire metroplex,) so while the Cowboys organization is a presence, it's not a leader at all in the grand scheme of things.

And she's not a celebrity in the grand scheme of things. If you look at the Dallas Business Journal's Book of Lists, the Cowboys organization doesn't rank.

There are 13 million people in 12 of the 16 counties that compromise this region. Other than the football team's celeb status, and that of all the retired players who now own companies here (think: Troy,) they actually don't influence business. Don't tell Jerry Jones.

I used to live in Dallas, and we lived in a pretty fancy part of Dallas. Kelli isn't really a celebrity. I never saw her at any of the social events I attended, but I'd see Charlotte. Maybe in the dance/cheerleader world, she's famous. She's not chairing galas or luncheons. Now Charlotte- she's a big fish. Kelli not so much.

Sounds like the team felt great about the night, plus the Boys got a win-  what a great way to start the season!

Yuko and Milan were  very emotional over performing tonight, I love how passionate they are about this opportunity vs some girls who already seem to think it's just another feather in her cap

In Dallas, like any other city, there are many "scenes." I highly doubt Kelli would roll with the billoinaire princesses or wives like the Hunts or Simmons. She's not that rich and has the audacity to wear the same Belk dress over and over. Bless her heart. 

She did allude to having power and influence with getting Danielle a job so she has meaningful connections. I'm sure she is a person to know if you want to move fluidly through the dance scene. 

Did Yuko perform Thunder? I can't keep up with all changes.

Agree on Kelli and Charlotte about their "celebrity". This sounds silly, but you can always get an idea by where the kids go to school. Sam and her brother were/are in Coppell ISD-suburb some wealthy but for the most part middle class and comfy. Charlottes kids (all of the Jones' kids) went to ESD, the most expensive private school in the DFW area. They even donated to the football program. I think the youngest boy graduated from Highland Park, but that's still a very wealthy school district. 

 

Kelli might be be recognized because of the show, but Charlotte definitely had more power so to speak.

Maggie did absolutely amazing tonight. Every time they put her on the Jumbotron she lit up the stadium. My eyes automatically went to her every time it showed her dancing with her group. I can definitely see her as point girl in a couple years!

At some point Charlotte and her husband Shy sold their Preston Hollow mansion and moved to HP. I'll never forget driving by their house one day and saw their housekeeper outside wearing an actual black and white maids uniform like you see in the movies. I immediately thought "Toto, we aren't in Kansas anymore."

Happy to hear the girls had a great first game! Also glad to hear Maggie looked great dancing on the field. She has been one of my favorites since auditions.

Anyone remember when the rookies usually get their twitter accounts?
