Morning Joe: All Episodes Talk

Discussion of the hosts regarding a specific episode is fine here, but generalized discussion of the hosts go in the The Hosts Thread: Joe and Mika Know Their Value.

The professor merely said he wasn't voting for Hillary, not that he wasn't voting. And he said that if he lived in a less-blue state, he would be rethinking this. I would have loved the panel to ask him to elaborate on what he would "never vote for Hillary" (his words).

Joe and the panel spent a lot of time this morning talking about turnout being down among African American voters which I admit is very concerning. However, they spent no time at all talking about Latino turnout being up (by big numbers) so far. I forget which show it was but either Rachel, Chris H. or LOD spent time on this last night. I guess since this is good news for Hillary, Joe can't talk about it! I feel good every night when I go to bed and then I get panic attacks in the morning listening to them cherry pick polls and other data.

Bruni had an interesting article about "Hillary's male tormentors" but ignores the importance of one said tormentor  - her husband - for even being at this point. Had she not followed Bill Clinton back to Arkansas like a stray after failing the bar exam, who knows what would have happened to her. That's what I bristle at all this talk of her being a pioneer - look at Shirley Chisholm if you want one of those.

Hillary's 1969 commencement speech at Wellesley drew national attention.  She would almost certainly have had an exceptional career even if she had never married Bill, or anyone else.

Thank goodness I had taped today's episode. I was able to fast forward through most of it.  Every single time I stopped it to see what they were saying I heard Joe talking over someone.  The whole show today was ... yeah yeah he's behing in the polls BUT he has a path. If he wins this state and this state and then this highly improbable state he'll have 259 EV (still not enough) but WOW. Not ONE word about how if Clinton flips any of his states how her EV will change.  I watched a little of CNN this morning in real time and it was so much more refreshing. I think this may have to be my new standard. I'll watch CNN for the news and watch MJ to get my anger out.  While Fast Forwarding today's show all I  said was "shut up Joe. Shut Up Joe. SHUT UP JOE" . This show is exhausting.

Oh and I totally forgot: Gotta love Rick Tyler: "It would be BETTER for Clinton if she wins that the House AND Senate remain Republican. She can reach across the aisle to get things done. If the House and Senate go Democrat she'll be forced to move to the Left on issues that she doesn't believe in" . Um Rick have you lived in this country the past 6 years? No matter if you CAN reach across the aisle your hand is going to get slapped away.  These idiots are already saying that if she gets elect they won't vote on anyone she puts up for the Supreme Court. Yeah that' going to be GREAT for her. R's are going to be SOOO much more helpful to her than the D's would be.  Then he adds" My partisan friends are going to be mad at me for saying this but it's true" DUDE we get it you are worried about your down ballot peeps but that is the most pathetic argument I've heard yet.

Tyler also conveniently forgot that there have been news reports that a Republican congress would open investigations against Clinton as soon as she took office.  With the current state of that party, any Republican in Congress who did anything remotely bipartisan would face a Koch-funded primary opponent. Ask Cantor or Renee Ellmers how that worked out for them. What a disingenuous argument Tyler made.

I usually like Bruni but thought his Hillary column was a little overwrought. Almost like he was having more fun choosing particularly clever words than advancing his point. Eugene did something similar with a recent column. Both made me kind of roll my eyes.

It made me laugh when Mika read this Bruni article.  When she was done, she said "There's so many words. What is priapic?"

you could hear Joe in the background going "shhhh... don't ask, don't ask"

I was irritated five minutes in and I am now turning off the show because I can't take it.

EVERY poll, no matter how obscure, is reported from The Donald's point of view and interpreted as favorably as possible. If Clinton is slightly ahead, it's in the margin of error. If Trump is slightly ahead, he is closing the gap. If they are tied, Clinton has "slipped" and Trump has a path. Gah.

Oh, good, and now we get to hear about emails. AGAIN.

I am done for the day.

Joe is in the undisclosed bunker today! Joe is performing at Prohibition tonight. No matter what poll comes out. Joe said Trump is gaining ground.

Joe trashed Clinton for being arrogant. He said Clinton is out of touch & that Trump voters are mad at elites.

Joe said he was part of the elite.

LOL, you got it. It's reported this way on every network. Again, except from 8-11pm on MSNBC. I guess I could give the rest of them the benefit of the doubt and say they report the polls this way because the race has been viewed as Clinton's to lose, but I won't.

Yeah that was something - ole Bubba, looking frail, railing against Trump voters as people too angry to think. The irony is that those angry voters were the ones he was dog-whistling back when he went after Sista Soulja and executed Ricky Rector and when his wife referred to super predator children. As Malcolm X said, the chickens have come home to roost. And then they have Reverend Al on wondering while black turnout is so low?

Bill Clinton does not look healthy. I can't believe he is the same age as Trump. One story they haven't reported on Morning Joe is why states like Arkansas. Tennessee, which used to vote for Clinton in the 1990's have turned so Republican? It's shocking how weak the Clinton campaign is in West Virginia which used to be reliably democrat.

I found the KAC interview with Mika & Willie to be fascinating. Mika tried to brag about how women are excited by the White House Council on women that Mika was part of. KAC said it was irrelevant. KAC wanted to know why Hillary refused to pay women equal wages on her own campaign or in the State Dept.

Willie & Mika were desperately trying to get KAC to apologize to Katy Tur.KAC said she spoke to her privately.

KAC congratulated Mika & Joe or calling out the media for being cheerleaders for Hillary & saying the race was over. Mika's face squirmed.

I wonder if the other MSNBC hosts get into fights with Mika & Joe for being so supportive of Trump.

I would love to see Joe debate Rachel Maddow. Joe's new talking point is that there are not enough Trump voters in PA to overwhelm the democrats in Philly.

I checked the numbers & Philly does provide a big margin for Democrats. However, if AA & the youth don't turnout as much as 2008 & 2012 , Trump could squeak in.

I think that Hillary's comments regarding the mining industry killed any chances that she might have had in West Virginia, parts of eastern Kentucky and southeastern Ohio.

There is currently a mass transit strike going on in Philadelphia. No buses, subways, or trolleys are running. If the strike isn't resolved by Tuesday, it could severely reduce voter turnout in the city. It's very difficult to get around.

Wow! That could tip the state to Trump. I checked the numbers. Romney won Penn by 155K if you take out Philly county.

Can't they legislate the workers back?

Why didn't Morning Joe discuss this key factor?

42 minutes ago, Eliot said:

Yes very true. I suppose the issue I wanted Morning Joe to discuss was why the Clintons are not doing better in the Southern states like Arkansas & Tenn? They won those states handily in 1992 & 1996. The Electoral Map has changed so much since 1988.

So the city of Philly is not like NYC in that you can walk to your neighborhood schools to vote?  It was nothing to walk a block or two in NY to get to your polling station  which was usually in some public school gym and/or cafeteria.

Sure it is.  You have to walk to your local school or firehouse.

We talked about this at work today (I just moved to PA and am now one of those "college educated white women in Bucks County" Chris Matthews always likes to reference).

Most polling places are within walking distance of people's homes. It gets complicated, though, if people don't have time to vote before or after work due to the transit gridlock. I believe the local government is coming up with some workarounds.

Joe is wearing a suit! Mika is in a black dress. Is it Mourning Joe?. Joe is on his "patented rant" about how he was right all along about Predicting that Trump could win the nomination. Joe said he didn't support Trump. Joe blasted the media for being biased against Trump. Mika is telling Joe to slow down. She is the KAC on the couple. Stay Calm Joe.

Joe is ignoring reality in Nevada & gives it to Trump. Donnie said the Nevada poll had 9% Latino.

Joe is so funny. Does he realize how silly he looks? Joe has a fancy electoral map.

Joe is quoting Nate Silver like he is Nostradamus. Mika is rolling her eyes. Bookies say 65% Clinton

Joe is allocating Maine's 2nd district to Trump.

Joe said he is an expert on Florida. Joe mentioned the I4 corridor.

Joe said Trump could win 270 electoral votes.!

Halperin said the Clinton campaign believes the election is over. LOL! Halperin is usually wrong.

Isn't it just fucking convenient that Joe rushed to have Develin (WSJ) on the other day to discuss the bullshit that some FBI leaker leaked to him about an FBI "investigation" into the Clinton Foundation but we have silence about the fact that it was bullshit and the FBI is about to come apart at the seams this morning.  Not one single word that Ghouliani threatened on air at Fox, two days before Comey's vague letter to Congress (that Chaffetz immediately leaked) that there would be something in the next few days.

That's just like the other day when there was dead silence about the poll that came out the night before that had 28% of Republicans early voting in Florida - voting for Clinton.

I swear, guests have to promise not to talk about some subjects before they are allowed on set.

I didn't watch MJ (it's dead to me) but Chris Hayes covered this extensively, and had the Daily Beast writer who reported the Guiliani BS on for an interview.

It seems the 8-11 pm block on MSNBC still has basis in reality unlike Dr Strangelove and the "If I Yell It Loud Enough They'll Believe It" Bus Ride to Hell.

And he was still going on and on about same in the 8:00 hour. I think he mentioned he was quoting from someone's column and I think he said "Charles" but not sure. Krauthammer seems to be right up Joe's alley but his latest column pretty much lambasted Trump.

Maybe the 8:00 hour was on replay? How do they get away with that?

I think it was Charlie Cook, but not 100% positive.

And...I'm sorry, but REALLY, Joe? I have two words for you: DEATH PANELS.

Yeah, that's right. Remember 2008? Remember Sarah Palin? Remember "Obama's a Muslim! No, Obama's a Socialist! No, he's a floor wax! No, he's a dessert topping!"

Trust me. When it comes to hysterical political hyperbole, Democrats are rank amateurs. Why is it that the "both sides do it" meme Joe is so fond of comes through much more faintly when the fingers are pointing at the Democrats?

Poor Meeka.  Now I realize what her role on the show is.  She's June Cleaver.  "Now, dear, don't you think you were a little rough on the journalists?  Please calm down, honey."

Joe is as thin-skinned as his fellow traveler Drumpf is.  Why does he get so pissy when people tell the truth about the months of favorable coverage that Drumpf received on his show?  Did we only imagine the numerous phone interviews?  The dropped mic conversation and agreement to ask Drumpf only softball questions?  Are we supposed to ignore that he and Miss Galore have been rooting for Drumpf--for months?  Are we supposed to pretend that the tone of the show didn't change after their September pilgrimage to Trump Tower?

And, talk about projection!  "You really need to do your job and be journalists!"  Really?

Okay--here's a challenge for Monday's show, Joe.  I challenge you and Meek-a to do your jobs.  Would you care to discuss the conviction of two of Governor Christie's aides earlier today?  You know, it is pertinent since he is supposed to be heading up the Drumpf transition team.  This assignment, if you choose to accept it, will begin in the first hour of the show.

Thank you, and good luck!

Joe got a shout out on the Fresh Air interview with Stephen Colbert.  Don't worry it was a diss.

They were discussing the differences between Colbert Report and Late Show.  Stephen said that on Report, the interview style he used followed the Joe Scarborough rule  that "if your guest speaks for more than seven seconds you've lost control of the show".

It's even funnier when you remember that Chris Licht is now the EP of Late Show.    Can you imagine the stories he has about those two morons?

Yes, I can imagine.  That's why I NEED either a tell all book, a mockumentary, a documentary, a 30-Rock-style thinly veiled lampooning, a blog, Twitter bombs, anecdotes over drinks... SOMETHING!  It must be an absolute shit show behind the scenes there.  There has to be so many people willing to tell their stories.  I can imagine those stories.  Burn the eyebrows off your face.

I find Morning Joe to be very addictive. It's just so weirdly entertaining. The show is ripe for parody. Catching up with Friday's show, I can't figure out why Joe changed from a nice suit to a navy fleece at 8:30 am. Why was he leaning into Mika throughout the show? I thought his chair was crooked.

I enjoyed the interview with Michael Moore. Michigan could be closer than the polls are showing. Moore explained the devastation to white men in that state.

Ratner brought Donnie a talking Trump pen. It was hilarious.

Bill Kristol thinks Hillary is on track for a bigger victory than Obama in 2012 but not as much as 2008. Really? It would be hard for Hillary to get more than 332 EV.

Joe took shots at Donnie Deutsh needing a blanket because he was afraid of a Trump presidency.

Mika & Joe said Hillary is a fun person to be around when she is not on stage.

The interesting nugget was Chuck Shumer will try to stop the 60 vote filibuster for Supreme Court Nominees if they win the Senate. Can they do that? Joe like Shumer & said he wasn't poisonous like Harry Reid.

Moore said the people in the midwest could sens a Brexit message to Hillary.

Moore said that Bernie Sanders will be chair of the budget committee if the Democrats take the Senate.

I find it odd that Morning Joe hasn't interviewed more Sanders supporters to see if they show up & vote for Hillary.

Spicer from the GOP said the Democrat early voters aren't going as well as 2012.

Agreed. Joe's rants about never supporting Trump is getting silly. Is he worried that Hillary's people won't come on the show after she wins the election?

I doubt Christie would be attorney general in a Trump administration if he convicted in the Bridge gate investigation.

I think Mika will mention bridgegate very briefly. They ignored the Donna Brazile-Roland Martin scandal because they were friends of the show. Christie is an original BFF of Mika & Joe, so they will go easy on him.

It is extremely hard to get around in the city. It tires people out. I have lived in Philadelphia all of my life. It is unbearable when mass transit goes on strike. As the days go on, it wears people out. PA doesn't have early voting. The lines are very long on election day. After fighting the traffic or walking to and from work, many people will not be willing to stand in line for hours to vote.

Can't they keep the polls open longer in Philly if people are still waiting in line? I recall them doing that in some states.

Yep. That 60-vote rule is self-imposed. And frankly, anti-democratic. These hacks are always coming up with rules to protect themselves from actual work. Just like the self-imposed rule the House GOP set up that any proposed legislation would need to have the majority support of the party in majority to make it to a floor vote.

I saw Dr Z today on Fareed Zharia GPS. I am so happy !. I thought he was  ill & unable to come on tv. He is discussing US policy in Syria, China & Russia. It's clear to me now that he is very upset with Mika for dumping her husband for Joe. He is boycotting the show. I would love to see him on one day & attack Joe. Perhaps Mika is afraid that her dad will make Joe look a stunningly superficial man, & Joe will get mad at him. Holidays with the Brezinskis should be a new reality show. !

Joe has so turned me off that I didn't watch this show except for about 5 minutes one day (maybe Wednesday? whichever day Joe was ranting about the Democrats saying awful awful things about former Republican presidential nominees).  But I might just turn in tomorrow to see if they even cover the news Comey just released that there's nothing new in the emails and no change to July position.  I checked all the major news outlets web sites and all except Fox had this story.    If Joe covers it how will he spin it?

Jeebus murphy. Five minutes in and they're talking about the polls closing and Trump still has a chance. Do they ever do any objective research or is everything just scammed from Fox? The polls turned for Hillary 3 or 4 days ago and the FBI letter yesterday is only going to help. Wednesday morning should be so much fun watching them cry in their coffee.
