I feel like this show is stuck on making fun of Trump and Pence.  Today they showed a clip of Mike Pence arriving for a speech, and he was jogging and clapping.  Joe thought it looked like a kid's show.  Plenty of politicians clap and run.  It's in the same genre as the "hey you" point and clap.

I wonder whether Joe and Mika ever stop this sniping.  Biden will be in the WH in a month, and they are going to need to pivot at some point.

The current tone of this show is like media "Mean Girls." It is really a bad look for high paid media people to sit on air and do these personal snipes.

Mika (in a bored tone):  “I love prance-clapping; it’s good exercise.”

Joe:  “Pence prance-clapping. Say that three times fast.”

Now Joe is shouting “IT’S JUST LIKE THE FLU.”  Yeah, we remember, Joe.

Friday Recap.

Joe is back with puffy eyes & wearing a blazer after his grueling Zoom book tour.

Willie is upset that the Republicans won't concede defeat to Biden.

Mika said it was really bad. Kasparov called it seditious.

Joe is the friendly neighborhood cable news host & dumb country lawyer. This appears on his business card.

Unfortunately, it's not just the current tone, IMO it has been the tone for the last few years. The reason I gave up and moved on from regular viewing. I get nothing from these clowns. Frankly, as "professionals", even their sniping and griping is amateurish, much like Mika's news reading and comprehension skills and Joe's constant need to hear his own voice.

“Loueeeville, Kentucky,” said Mika.  It’s “Louihville,” Mika.

This is why I swear Madame Speaker was throwing shade when, during the first couple minutes of being interviewed by Mika not too long ago, she made sure to use her name during her responses (which public figures tend to do) but pronounced it as Mike-a and then Mick-a.

I raise my hand, that's what she did. I even posted about it. And Mika heard it, her eyes said so. It was delicious.

Oh man, Joe was yelling at Dr. Vin Gupta.  It’s the middle of the night out here, Joe, and he has dying patients down the hall.  He gets it.

....they could all learn a lot from the doctors, actually. They all come on fresh and awake, they smile and say good morning, and then they speak calmly, but with urgency, about the situation. they manage to convey that it's extremely serious without yelling. Like, maybe take a cue from the doctors on how to talk to the public about this stuff without stressing them out...?

ETA: since we all are depressed rn, i recommend this - Leslie Jones on with Nicolle, and hilariously, senator claire!, last night ----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-XqLpcqucc

I enjoyed watching the segment with Walter Isaacson promoting his books on Steve Jobs. Isaacson & Joe love cross promoting their books.

I hope Morning Joe gets to move to a Barnes & Noble when the pandemic is over. Each guest could come on & promote their book or a book they like.

There was an award at Apple for standing up to Steve Jobs.

I would love it if there was an award for standing up to Mika & Joe.

I don't get this whole book promotion thing. It is not something I usually pay attention to because it's not why I watch morning tv, but it seems so repetitious...Joe has a guest, Joe talks about his book with the guest, then the guest shows up on his or her own show and interviews Joe about his book. I would think that the MSNBC regular viewers would be bored to death hearing the same rehash over and over. Is there new material being introduced each time?

I forgot to mention...during my brief interlude viewing the show yesterday they had Al Sharpton at the desk with Willie. Was this an old clip? It seemed like old times. (Or regular times on all the local channels and many national ones...the separate screen thing has been abandoned by several outlets.)

Joe should warn MSNBC viewers that he won't stop talking about his book until sales improve. His book's sales ranking has dropped to 238 from 64 on Amazon.

I expect to see Lester Holt to interview Joe tonight on NBC News. Joe can talk about how we can learn from Truman on how to deal with the Coronavirus.

Mika & Joe have sat together in the breakfast nook, so they could start doing that again.

The Today show has anchors sitting at the same table, so Willie should be able to interview guests at 30 Rock.

It was amusing to watch Paul Reickhoff this morning discussing Biden's selection of McDonough for Secretary of the VA.  (IMHO Reickhoff made some manipulative statements that were half truths).

The important part to me was Joe saying he thought McDonough was a wonderful choice.  Reickhoff replied that since Joe was an "Washington Insider" of course he would think that.  Joe then looked for ways to downplay the concept that he was a "Washington Insider" for the rest of the interview.

Joe tells me time after time (on the days he is on his own show) how connected he is and understands the thinking of the WH and Capitol Hill.  When Reickhoff calls Joe a "Washington Insider" Joe has to play down being "part of the swamp".

Joe, what would Harry Truman do?

Joe always bragged about coming to Washington when he was elected to Congress as an "outsider".

He tried to pass bills to cut UN spending & eliminate Departments.

In the last few years, Joe has complained about Presidents Clinton, George W Bush , Barack Obama & Donald Trump being elected as "outsiders", but they never got anything done because they didn't understand how Washington works.

Joe supported Biden in part because he was a Washington insider & can try to get deals with Mitch McConnell.

A few years ago, Joe bragged about being involved in recommending members for Trump's cabinet.

I agree. Joe has bragged on numerous occasions that he was able to attend numerous cocktail parties in Washington & New York because Mika was able to get them on the guest list. Joe's tailor designed extra pockets in his jackets that were lined with sandwich bags , so Joe could stuff extra cocktail snacks into his pockets to eat at home. Tina Brown & Katty Kay both serve lovely cucumber sandwiches at their parties.

Joe has complained about his previous two wives being unable to get him invited to prestigious events.

Dr. Z's daughter...political royalty.  Instagram/Twitter powerhouse.  Leader of an entire movement based on empowering women.  Matron of a HUGE extended family.  Dutiful daughter (I can't fault her on this one).  She is living her best life with her Alpha Male, New York Times best-selling author/husband, Joe Scarborough.  Her spouse is also a prolific singer/songwriter/musician.  Prior to hosting his award-winning morning talk show, Mr. Scarborough happens to be a former, albeit briefly, United States Congressman.

I expect to be asked to guest on the amazingly popular ratings powerhouse, Morning Joe on MSNBC.  I can discuss women's issues and Harry Truman with the dynamic hosts.

This should maybe have gone into the Hosts Thread; but it encompasses everything this show is all about.

Yes!. Mika & Joe filmed a show on the White House Lawn after a White House Correspondents Dinner. Mika & Joe both wore sunglasses to hide the effects of their hangovers.

MSNBC splurged for a tent & chairs for Mika & Joe & guests.

It happened during the Obama administration.

They were a combination of  looped and speedy in the studio one morning as well. Mika looked normal from the front but you could see bed head in the back when she turned to look at someone on set. And her hair in front wouldn't stay in place.

They were still under the influence from the night before and manic from caffeine. It was a shit show.

I got tipsy on wine during lunch in high school and was suspended for a week. That show reminded me of how well I thought I was maintaining, while climbing a book case in the library.

For a couple of weeks now, I had been anxious to see John Heilemann ask "Are you tired of winning yet President Trump".

I always associate this as Heilemann's reply to candidate Trump's claim that American's will become tired of winning if he is elected.

Sadly Heilemann's presence on MSNBC has been scarce lately.   I have not seen Heilemann on MJ or Deadline WH for quite some time.

My point is today Joe & Mika decided, was the day they should ask the President if he was 'tired of winning' after a montage of MSNBC highlights covering the election voting.😕

Is this different from the Monday after Thanksgiving two years ago?  They were still under the influence of something.

Today Joe is screaming about Southern religion and the Clinton years and Sunday School.  And calling his guest a “leftie” because he is Presbyterian.

Joe said that he assumed that everyone in the South is a Southern Baptist. He wasn't sure about Beth Moore. Joe said Episcopilians  like Meecham talk very pretty.

Beth Moore filled up the Pensacola convention center. Joe attends first baptist church when he is in Pensacola.

Joe said pastors that supported Trump were shameful.

Joe said n the 1990s, church leaders were opposed to Bill Clinton because of his character.

Joe is yelling about people that want to die for Trump. Joe attacked Trump for being twice divorced. Joe realized that he was twice divorced. Joe is yelling about the beatitudes. Calm down Joe!

David French is a leftie Presbyterian. LOL!

I had to look up Beth Moore; and yes, she looks a bit like Meeka.  Who kept trying to get a word in while John Meacham was talking...did not happen.

Looking back those were truly Good Times.  They didn't take themselves quite as seriously as they do now.

The show opened with clips of Joe Biden winning many states & Joe' historic call that Biden was President elect.

Joe said that Trump's ex wife said that Trump kept a copy of Hitler's Mein Kampf by his beside. Joe said he should have read the Constitution.

It looks like Mika & Joe are trying to get Trump's attention again, so he can tweet at them.

Here is the clip:

which west wing ep was the Dr Bartlett clip they showed from? i wanna re-watch it  tonight (any excuse!!)

I did not see this on MJ, but if it was the clip of Abbey Bartlett talking about the reasons she stopped calling herself “Dr”, it is “18th and Potomac” in Season 2.  I had just watched it last week.  Another great episode, but one I can’t watch to the end.

Congressman Max Rose may run for NY Mayor. He is worried about the effects of Covid on NYC. He supports UBI & Infrastructure projects to reduce commuting times.

Lemire warned him that he represents Staten Island which is more conservative than the rest of NYC.

He joked that NYC likes to elect short Mayors like Laguardia during crisis times. How tall is he ?

He voted to impeach Trump while representing a Trump district.

He met with Reverend Al in his office.

He is opposed to insiders .

Mika politely asked him why he lost his bid for re election to Congress. He did what he thought was right . He didn't want to defund the police.

Joe was rude to disappear during the interview.

Donny blasted Democrats for suporting socialism. Donny is opposed to higher taxes on wealthy people.

It was actually Max Rose who made that joke, about himself. I like him. He’s a little too conservative for my taste, but if I were a New Yorker I would vote for him for mayor. There is something really refreshing about him.
