Antenna TV pushed Murphy Brown back to 12:30 am 😡.

I think it's only for this week, though? I checked the schedule and it's all over the place! At first I thought they dropped it and also stopped airing it on the weekends, but they didn't. But it was late when I checked, so I could be wrong. I dvr it, so it doesn't make a difference to me, since I'm saving them as well.

I checked the Antenna schedule yesterday, right now it's 12:30 AM Eastern, Sunday 2 AM Eastern. I might be able to manage the Sunday if I remember, and maybe even during the week if I remember and Star Trek Enterprise is boring me, which it is doing a lot right now, I might be ready to end my relationship with the first crew of Enterprise. But I have to remember to switch back to H&I for 2 hours of Sipowitz, not ready to end that relationship yet.

We've lost Antenna for the moment thanks to the Tribune-Spectrum fight.  We could pick it up through the antenna I guess, but it wouldn't matter since because of Mr Rat's work schedule Murphy is one of the many shows we can't watch unless we DVR them.  So boo.:(

Well it just so happened that when I turned in my TeeVee on Saturday, The Big Valley was airing an episode that starred...Colleen Dewhurst as an Outlaw who was holding Audra (Linda Evans) hostage! And HOO BOY! Was she SCARY!

And since we don’t have a “Cast in Other Roles” thread here, and I don’t know if this forum will be Vaulted, I’m getting a double dose of Candice! On Antenna as Murphy and on Escape on Boston Legal!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Edited to provide accurate information!

AntennaTV has moved the show to 12:30AM Eastern Time late Monday night/early Tuesday morning-late Friday night/early Saturday morning. The Sunday afternoon airing is now a double episode airing on late Sunday night/early Monday morning from 2-3AM Eastern.

Information from AntennaTV online program schedule & an announcer voiceover about the new programming block the show is part of (something about shows with “grumpy” characters—& I’m not necessarily fond of Murphy being characterized that way) at the end of other shows I watched on AntennaTV recently.

I have Antenna over the air, but Sunday night, it was off the air, but it's back on, and I've remember to watch the past couple of nights, I'm getting rather tired of the crew of Enterprise, so I watch the first half and switch, but I've changed too early, about 10 minutes too early Monday, there is a reason I don't watch Coach, I dislike it intensely, I did better with my timing last night, I don't want to miss any of Murphy but Coach can go suck eggs.

I'm not sure if it was a directing issue, or lack of experience on Faith Ford's part, but I find season one Corky very, very, very irritating. Especially in scenes when she's trying to be sympathetic or commiserating toward Murphy, when Murphy is in a pickle: (not getting an invitation to the Inaugural Ball, not having a date for Valentine's Day, being suspended, etc.). She sounds very disingenuous, insincere. I can't tell if she's mocking Murphy, or truly trying to be sympathetic.

I think the original premise was that she was a total airhead so I don't think she's meant to come across as insincere just probably trying to be sympathetic but in a very clumsy way. I am glad that they dropped that and let her be less of a caricature as the time went on.

Thanks @Kohola3, and I agree. As the seasons passed, she was allowed to be smart and intelligent, because I stated, her supposed to be an airhead didn't quite land for me.

I have been enjoying my daily dose of MB 1.0.  What a great series and it's positively frightening to see that too many of the political issues back then are still rearing their ugly heads!

I loved the episode where they showed how Frank and Murphy met and became best friends.  And, as a woman who started a career at the same time and had to dress for work, I am loving the blast from the past clothing.

What a great series....

My husband didn't watch it at the time, and only watched occasionally after we met, and he always said he had trouble getting in to the show, and in all honesty, he came in post Avery's birth.  I only watched sporadically when Lily Tomlin came in, and I HATED the last season - especially the "new" Doris, and the writers splitting her and Jim up.  I didn't finish the series back then.

He is really enjoying it.  It's fun to see him liking Jim as much as I did back then (and still do).  They should soon be up to the episode where they try to do a kid version of FYI.  Love that one.

I didn't either but when I caught the Lily Tomlin ones this time around I didn't hate her at all.  Times change, I guess.

I didn't dislike her as much this time around, but still didn't care for the character as a whole.  Tried watching the last season, but only got through bits and pieces, and then I'd get ticked about Jim again, and switch off.

I still can't stand Tomlin's character. She was able to "win" too many times over Murphy, and I hated her for that alone.

I started watching Boston Legal  for the first time ever when it started on Escape earlier this year. I have become obsessed with the layout of Denny Crane's balcony. It doesn't make sense to me, kind of like the layout of the radio station on WKRP.

How this ties to Murphy Brown? I've been re-watching the old episodes on Antenna Channel and enjoying them, but I find the layout of the office puzzling, the elevator opens into the main room, Murphy's office is the only one stage right, and I assume that Miles, Jim, Frank and Corky all have their own offices somewhere stage left. We never see any of them. I get that Murphy is the star of the show and that  it's really only necessary for her to have an office and since the secretary storyline is a running gag, that area has to be part of the set.

But what really confuses me is the layout of her home. There are several small rooms off the living room, I assume one is a powder room, the coat closet appears to be between the front door and the staircase.  Then there's a room where Eldon disappears in and out of frequently. And far stage right is the entry to the dining room and kitchen, but there's still another little room that I can't figure out. It's a little bitty room. Big rooms without some named purpose in a house don't bother me, you can do whatever you want and call them whatever you want, but it's all those little rooms. Then up the staircase is a long catwalk space, overlooks the living room, but the back wall is windows where other homes can be seen. Then in exterior shots, the house is a townhouse, nestled up to both houses on either side. I love floor plans, I love house porn, I love to see how houses are decorated but Murphy's house doesn't make sense. And I really am a person that screams at househunters on HGTV that "who cares what that room is, use it how ever you want!" And I've had to quit watching because of stupid househunters. I do like odd floor plans, I wouldn't rule a house out because it had weirdly placed rooms or rooms without an apparent use, but I don't understand all those little rooms and why there are no windows on the first floor but the curtains are never closed on the hall space/catwalk, whatever. I am nosy, if curtains are open in a house at night and lights are on and I can look through windows as I drive or walk by. I like to see how a room is decorated and what furniture people have. I'm really not casing the joint, I don't care about what valuables people have.

They did show Corky's at least once (I think it was when she was planning Murphy's baby shower?). It was very frilly and "Corky."

I was wrong, there are windows on the first floor of Murphy's house, and the curtains are open and looking out into something, a courtyard, but there are other houses in the background. Tonight's episode on Antenna just ended a few minutes ago.

"Gee, I feel like I've stepped into a Victoria's Secret."

And yes, Murphy went there for the first time after she realized Corky had been planning a baby shower for her after making fun of the idea, so she went to her office to apologize for hurting her feelings. And then she complained because Corky had a window in her office and she didn't. :P

Mom and Dad Brown - the couple that never fails to crack me up.   The writing in "Brown Like Me" was just brilliant and could not have been carried off so brilliantly by anyone other than Colleen Dewhurst and Darren McGavin.

I geeked out so much over that one for the guest stars. I recogized two of the kids almost instantly. It's also a good solid episode.

I am going to try to explain the layout of the office. Miles has an office on a different floor and we see it a few times. I don't think we ever see Jim's office during the series. Frank's office is off on a corner off the main room, sort of next to Murphy, but with junior staffer's desks in between. We see Corky's office once or twice but I am not sure where it is. I can't help with the layout of Murphy's house.

I just caught up on a slew of season one and two and five episodes. I wish I had remembered to go in and manually record, because the episode of when Murphy and Frank first met didn't record! I'm going to have to see if I can find them online somewhere.

And I'm totally on Murphy's side when those obnoxious Mommies came over to her house for a "play date" with Avery. They all BUGGED me, the way they looked down on her. Especially her neighbor.

Now I have to go to IMDB and find the name of the episode that aired after Jim quit on the air, after Murphy was forced to kill a story. That aired during the marathon a couple months ago. I want to see how it was resolved.

But I won't lie: I SQUEED and laughed when I saw Walter Cronkite in the opening of the episode where Jim was roasted for 25 years with FYI. But also miffed because there was no loud clapping and cheering when the show opened to him. If any of the other journalists that have appeared get the claps and cheers, Then CRONKITE DAMN WELL should be gettin' the hootin' and the hollerin'.

I wish Antenna would show the series in order. I love the chemistry between Peter and Murphy and i think I've only seen one episode with him..  And there's all of the jumping around between baby/no-baby episodes.  Makes my head spin.

They seem to be going relatively in order, except for the weekends, and the occasional times when they run special days, like Valentines day.

I guess that's my confusion.  The weekend ones are from season 5 right now and they weeknight ones are from season 2.

I love Candice Bergen's scenes with Avery.  He really seems perfectly comfortable with her and she seems to genuinely like him.  Loved the Easter egg episode where Avery kept sticking eggs in her mouth and she just kept on scene.

Monday's repeat on Antenna TV was the newly formed Wolf Network trying to woo Murphy over to their side.  Made me chuckle, how Avery would go on to work for Wolf.  I had forgotten all about the old episode so it didn't click with me on the new eps.

Just watched the first of a 2 parter where Murphy & Frank are on a plane and they think they are going to crash. They are both flashing back on their lives, Murphy flashes to meeting Jake and marrying him and divorcing him, we're getting near where she finds out she's pregnant, so it's a nice future call-out.

And, Rose Marie is Frank's mother!

Editing to add, season 3, episode 18, On Another Plane, Part 1.

The plane crash episodes make me laugh so hard my entire torso aches afterward.  I'd say my favorite of the numerous hilarious moments are Frank trying to record his thoughts, Frank's ashes getting vacuumed up, and Murphy's "Dead!  In a dickie!" meltdown.

Tonight's show was with Jake Loenstein (I'm lazy again, didn't look up the spelling) and Jerry Gold and ended with a cliff hanger - the home pregnancy test. So tomorrow night on Antenna tv at 12:30 Eastern/11:30 Central is the pregnancy reveal and start of the story line. A heads up for those who want to see those episodes again.

I’m still way behind on my DVR, so I only recently caught the twelfth episode of season three, “Retreat.” I think it may be one of the best episodes of MB. There are almost too many funny moments to recount: the rivalry between Miles and Trish, Jim’s magic finger, Frank’s mention of "Battle of the Network Stars." Nearly every scene had me rolling, though the acid river activity was by far the highlight. Screencaps of the show seem hard to come by, so I took a shoddy image of the end credits frame. God I love the FYI gang.

Their love for Donald Duck is strong in this photo.

My love for Jim was strong.  One of the best sitcom characters ever.

Back then, the options at Disney were somewhat limited for fun headwear.  I was there around that time, and the Donald and Goofy hats were about it, along with the standard Mickey Mouse ears.  Now they have all kinds of stuff.  I haven't been since 1988, but I see people's stuff.  I had the ears, and I had the Donald Duck hat.  The eyes were googly, and the bill squeaked.

I am so enjoying this show with the baby storyline. I think moreso since the late lamented few episodes with the adult Avery Brown. It's nice to go back and see the beginning. And the child still does not have a name! But tonight Murphy discovered the Barry Manilow effect on her child. I wasn't particularly a Barry Manilow fan during the original airing of the show, but have become a great fan of his music in the past few years. (I really don't care who knows, I'm a Fanilow!) So, I love seeing how the baby reacts. The closest thing to an offspring I have is a great-nephew and he loves angry rap.

I thought they did a great job with Murphy's transition into motherhood with the first episodes after the birth.  Women are too often expected to know exactly what to do and to just instinctively do all the right things with their newborn.  Murphy's awkward tries at various things were pure gold.

so, just how old was that kid before she finally gave him a name? The last 2 episodes, she's gone back to work, one day with a nanny that quit on her and the second episode, she was back doing normal hours with no discussion about who the baby was staying with, but there was conversation about him not having a name. She was leaning towards Ghandi, Miles suggested she just name him throw the volleyballs at my head brown.

He was a few months old. I laughed when Murphy said Gandhi, because Candice starred in the 1982 biopic, playing a photojournalist who worked for Life Magazine and who interviewed Gandhi and his wife while they were under house arrest.

To echo earlier comments, I am confused by Antenna TV’s schedule!! They are currently airing Season 5 episodes Tuesday through Saturday, and on Monday they normally air an hour block of Season 6 episodes. However this Monday they are playing the first episode of Season 2 and then jumping back to a Season 6 episode. I feel like it is purposely designed to mess with viewers, lol!

I'm recording strictly the M-F eps.  Antenna does this with all of their shows.  I do "Soap" on weekends because that's how I started in on it, and the weekdays are out of whack with the weekends.
