I didn't know where to put this, but this YouTube video was recommended to me yesterday. Considering Survivor and The Office are two of my favorite shows, I'm surprised I didn't see it sooner. But it's basically using clips from The Office to describe each season of Survivor and some of them are pretty dead-on. Philippines and HHH are my favorites.

Thanks for sharing. I think this ranks with someone explaining Doctor Who plots using scenes from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Is this a genre in YouTube? Does it have a name?

Fire truck getting cheered on representing Palau. I think the Kool-Aid Man busting through a wall is more apt, but that also works.

It's the pinned tweet! 😂 He was definitely not hacked. 

He was in a Skinemax (I think, one of the premiums' late night lineups) movie, before he was on Survivor. So he's not new to porn. Bless his heart.

Yeah, I knew all about that....... it's just that I think people like me have this naive stereotype that that's a thing one does BEFORE one makes it......... I mean he's played Survivor, what, 4 times?  After all these years, this choice kind of makes it clear that he didn't do the porn out of necessity, or being misguided, or naivete, or something. He did it because he really wanted to.  LOL.

I think a hacker can figure out how to pin a tweet.  It's not harder than hacking into someone's account.  It's a very simple click of a button.

What makes me believe he wasn't hacked is that it's been a full day.

Was that that same thing he was on where he had a foursome?  Maybe that was a different channel.  I do know it was pre-Survivor.

And I had heard about Ozzy's Only Fans, which seems to be the way some reality stars are making their $$$ nowadays.  Guess the world of influencers and reality stars and jumping from show to show is getting too congested, so they gotta figure out another way to make money that doesn't involve getting a job in the real world.  It's times like this I really miss Max and Corinne's podcast.  Between this, Chris's condom sock venture, and area of The Twilight Zone that has sucked Joe in, they would have had material for months.  And somehow, I feel like I'm forgetting some other stupid things other Survivor's have done recently.

And I agree with your other post, I think this is just who Ozzy is.  Someone who does porn and is proud.  Given his image on Survivor, and this other side to him, this could almost be some type of 'Flashdance' remake.

That's the one I was thinking of, the Playboy Channel one.  So I didn't even know about the other one referenced above then.

And I want to say I also knew of OnlyFans because of Mark as well, although it seems like it's popping up more for some reality stars/has beens.

Oh wow that is so sad!  I loved Angie.  Would have loved to have seen her play in a season where she had a shot and wasn’t on a constantly losing tribe.  And she’s the second person from Palau to pass away, after Jenn.

The Survivor Palau cast seems cursed health wise. Katie was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. Tom seems to have lung problems from 9/11 and a bunch of other health problems that caused him to not be invited to Winners at War. 

Anyway the cast of Survivor Thailand had a zoom reunion. Great to see an old school cast reunite. Brian Heidik was there and confirmed that he's been outcast because he asked for money in the first all stars season.

Thailand is not one of my favorite seasons, but that was pretty cool to see the cast back together.  I was trying to see if I could figure out who was who before they said it, since it's been so many years (and aside from Shii Ann way back in All-Stars, it's not like Thailand has seen a lot of returning contestants).  I think I would hate to be a part of a season that is so disliked by many, even after all these years.  Put me on a season like HvsV or David vs Goliath with an invisible edit and I'd be happy.

Doesn’t sound like they will be filming 3 seasons this year after all, but Survivor could re-start filming in April for S41, and then June for S42.  Sounds like we may be going back to Fiji, too.  At least we may be getting a Fall season.

Just read a recap of a Zoom Q&A Sandra did online recently.  (As in earlier this week recent).

Some highlights:

She definitively says that the differences between Tony and the player he's most compared to is that you can get along with Tony, and that Tony bathes on Survivor.  Tony may play aggressively, but he's not a bully about it like the other guy.

She said that she would have voted for Tony had she stayed on WaW and been on the jury.  But Yul would have been her choice for winner if it couldn't be herself or Tony.

Going back to her first season, she said that the Morgan Tribe were pissed when they first got to the village and saw that Drake had Sandra's Spanish language skills on their side.  Apparently Peachy told Morgan Tribe that they had 4 or 5 people that took Spanish in college, so they ought to be able to string together a sentence.  Also, TPTB apparently went back after the cast left and bought back everything the Survivors sold/traded, so Sandra got back her chain and shoes.

I haven't seen the interview but it has to be Russell. She haaaaaaates Russell. She hated him the season they played together. I think her win was that much sweeter because Russell saw her as a goat and had no clue that his hideously played social game would kill both his and Parvati's chances of winning. Sandra, of course, was well aware that Russell had no chance of winning.

That is the player Tony gets compared to quite often.  I just refuse to say his name if at all possible, and I guess I assumed that that particular comparison was commonly known enough that I didn't need to.  Mea culpa.

That said, I found out about an interesting podcast.  It's called "Escape This Podcast", and it's basically a cross between an escape room and a role-playing game.  The Australian couple that host the podcast and create the scenarios invite various guests to play through the virtual rooms and stories.  I bring this up here because in the second episode of their most recent story arc episode, the guests are Peih-Gee and Adam.  Pretty fun show from the sound of it.  (I would recommend listening to the first episode of the story first, as there might be some spoilers otherwise.)

This is also Peih-Gee's second appearance on the show.  And that episode takes place in the middle of an even bigger story arc, so there'd be more lead-in episodes to listen through before getting to her.  It didn't get mentioned here then, because it was about 1 year ago, and the majority of the thred talk of the time was surrounding how the WaW reunion would/could function at the start of...well, 2020.

Another update on filming for S41 and 42.  The crew has begun arriving in Fiji and have quarantined/are starting their quarantine on arrival (it sounds like they are bringing them in in groups to space out the arrivals and allow each group to properly quarantine).  Both seasons are officially cast, and the filming for S41 looks to possibly start in early April (this will give the crew enough time to finish up their quarantines, and then for the cast to fly out and do their 14 day quarantine before filming begins).  S42 is expected to start filming end of May.  
 

ETA: It’s on the Survivor IG that production has resumed so I guess this is, in fact, official!

So, I guess we’re set for a September/October premier. Yippie! That said, I was kinda hoping they have to go somewhere else beside Fiji. I wanted a different island to keep Jeff and the contestants on their toes. I don’t read spoilers when they start filming so I’ll be looking for the official cast reveal in August or so.

Doubtful; they’ll still have to deal with COVID protocols to a degree for both cast and crew, there’s a metric shit-ton of moving pieces to a production like this, and in Fiji it’s already well-established where all the parts go.

I was hoping so, too, especially since other Survivor franchises were filming in places like the Dominican Republic.  I’m actually shocked that they were able to resume filming in Fiji.  Regardless, they could have thrown them in the Big Brother house with sand and fake palm trees and called it Survivor-I’m just glad it is coming back.

Exactly.  While I do advocate for a change of location as much as anyone else here, the fact that they have the "permanent" location in Fiji is actually a greater benefit right now with the added COVID complications.  With their infrastructure already in place, a crew that is already familiar with the area, and locals that are familiar with the crew, things have to be going almost as smoothly as they would for a "normal" shooting season.  Setting up in a new location would add even more time and more of a delay to an already delayed season.

While taking a class at NYU, I wound up interviewing the recapper of Survivor at Mighty Big TV (later Television Without Pity). She lived in the Baltimore area, I wound up selling the story to the Sun . . . . and on that night, Jerri got voted off S2. I would've shared this earlier today, but I didn't know today (March 29) was the day.

That's cool, Lantern!  The hilarious Survivor recaps were the thing that drew me to Mighty Big TV, (TWOP) and then here.  In fact, until then, I had barely learned how to use the computer.  Now, I can't imagine watching anything and not being able to talk about it afterward.

More news from Redmond about a possible change going forward-Survivor may shorten its season by 10 days, filming for 29 instead of 39.  Just a rumor so far.

The shorter season really would end the lore of "surviving."  I remember that they lengthened Australia (season 2) but that was just too long so they went back to 39 days.  A month just seems like too short of a time.  There would also have to be multiple double eliminations.  

Doesn't make sense.

Speculation from Redmond's article is that it could be a budget issue, or the fact that the cast/crew have to quarantine for 14 days, taking up time from filming.  He did say that there isn't any rumor that they will scale the number of contestants back, but maybe it will come to that if they do reduce the number of days of filming.  I don't know what this will mean for boots, but I have to imagine there would be multiple double boots, and maybe an oversized finale?

Even though they focus little on camp life and the social relationships, I wonder if having fewer days to strategize means people will be more likely go along with the crowd and we'll see even more little game play.  Since this is just a rumor now, I hope it stays that way.  Considering S41 should be filming now (yay!) we'll probably know more when it wraps up.

Could go the other way.  Even under the old schedule, most contestants lacked the patience to play at a strategic level much beyond checkers.  With an even shorter season timeline throwing a monkey wrench into any advance plans, I’d expect an even greater chance of players shooting their wad early for fear of missing the golden opportunity for their BFM.

I’m always so sad when a Survivor contestant dies. It’s the weirdest thing. She died much too young at 50. She fought a tough battle but unfortunately it was just too much.

perhaps.  I stopped referring to the lexicon thread when I realized the 1st post was just a starter post and the acronyms were going to be scattered through the thread.  I don't have the patience nor time to sift through two pages of posts to find an acronym.  It would be far more useful if, like I've seen in other forums, the 1st post was continually updated when someone came up with a new abbreviation.
