numbnut April 8, 2016 Share April 8, 2016 (edited) Just watched the pilot. I like it. I wasn't a big fan of the film because it's basically a remake of At Close Range, sometimes shot for shot; both films are based on true stories but Michod hasn't admitted that the 80s film was his "inspiration" for the narrative style. I'm hoping the show will move beyond the ACR premise. Hatosy's character is a good start. I'll also watch anything with Speedman. Edited April 9, 2016 by numbnut 1 Link to comment

He doesn't get much to do in the pilot unfortunately (in fact...I'm pretty sure they cut a scene that was in the script of him and his wife discussing his family but hopefully they'll restore that in a future ep.), but Shawn Hatosy and Ellen Barkin were both very strong. I liked it and will be setting my DVR. I could see this appealing to Sons fans as well. 1 Link to comment
