Martha was a sweetheart. Mr.Stunt and I met her before the contest and she was crowd favorite. We were at the Sonoma-Marin Fair for a station-sponsored simulcast, and took a couple of days in touring wineries and sampling the fruits of their labor.

Lovely.

The voting for the Final Round of the Previouslies has will close Fri at midnight eastern! It's gonna be interesting to see who's making the cuts in categories  and I am enjoying my own deliberations voting!

I hope Steve is eating better and healing soon! Poor kiddo.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far. My last week was stressful and super crazy not just my baby G sick but more - it was terrible start to end, but here's to fresh starts!

BTW Justin Trudeau was looking foine at pride rocking his rainbow socks, dancing, and high fiving everyone. I've only been to Chicago Pride but I've heard every cities is different.

Sorry to hear your week was stressful, Petunia. I hope it improves.

Steve still isn't 100%. I'm changing his meds this evening and we'll see if there's improvement. He also decided to start molting so between yesterday and today the bottom of the cage is full of feathers and it looks like he was murdered. The bacteria culture came back and showed nothing. No infection was picked up and they're not sure why since it showed up at the hospital when they did a culture. So that isn't any help. I was hoping to identify the bacteria so we could tailor the antibiotic. Steve will go back to the vet in 16 days to have another gram done to ensure the bacteria is gone. This time two vets (his plus a new vet) will go over his complete history and see what tests they've done and if they should do any further ones. There's also the worry that his aspergillosis may be coming back and causing problems. So I'm stressed.

And it's been 10 days now that I've had a swollen right armpit and pain. I waited four hours at a clinic yesterday for a 30 second exam where the doctor said she didn't feel an infection and thought it might be breast tissue due to cycle changes, etc. One of the physiotherapists said it felt like a small muscle tear causing the issue. My doctor said put warm compresses and if something erupts to come see her, and if it stays the same go to the hospital.

All in all, I'm not impressed these days.

^^^I'm so not impressed with health care these days. They send you hither and yon to specialists, you spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars and nothing ever seems to come of it. I only see a nurse practitioner any more just so I can get my BP meds.

Aw @jewel21 I'm sorry to hear that. You and Steve keep staying strong and kicking ass. It's a lot on your plate. I'm here daily on boards and pm.

Also there's a lot of threads targeted to specific topics like in the off topic forum there's a family thread, work thread, jokes, pets thread, pet peeves!, ect, also food and beauty forums. I'm mentioning it because I just enjoy them in addition to my shows chat areas. Some fun or helpful things where perspectives are exchanged.

OT I gotta say I still miss LP.

thank you capricasix.

so, a couple of weeks ago, i saw a recipe on facebook for a chicken cordon bleu recipe.  only it was sorta inside out in that you first laid a slice of ham down, then a slice of swiss cheese on top of that and then a half piece of chicken breast.  then you wrapped the chicken in the ham and swiss.  i just can't remember how to bake it or the sauce that went over top.  has anyone ever seen a recipe like that and could you help me out?

thank you if you can but i will understand if no one has ever seen a recipe like it.

It's called Chicken Rollatini I believe and Richard Simmons has a delightful YouTube video on his take on this classic dish. I say delightful because I love Richard and his delivery is so amusing, his actual interpretation looks boring.

Happy bday Canada! ??

The main air conditioner unit in the office committed suttee this morning. HVAC can't fix it and won't be able to replace it until tomorrow -- Hello, rented cherry-picker, over night delivery from Merced and double-time for an additional two plumbers.

Fortunately, the three AC units that acclimate the studios are doing their job, and the office personnel are inhabiting the halls and empty studio areas, complaining about being uncomfortable. Free food and cold drinks don't mollify them. Never stand between a Left Coaster and a working air conditioner.

Happy Fourth of July!

For the 4th of July the station operated from two remote studios, one at Bridges Park in Long Beach for the Queen Mary All American 4th celebration, and the other off of a generator in the station parking lot while the building was shut down to install and plumb the new AC unit. I sat in the parking lot, under an umbrella with my feet in a cooler of ice, working on the budget. Ouch! That's going to leave a mark. Mr.Stunt came with a barbecue and made lunch for the crew, then kept me company talking about a new project I'm planning.

HVAC and the plumbers completed the work and got the AC running around 1AM, with building back to temperature and computers rebooted by 3:00. The engineer and DJ were broadcasting shortly after. Got the generator shut down and stored, and the remote studio locked down, to be greeted by the morning show talent and receptionist.

Yeah, I've been here all day and night to make sure you have a job to gripe about in the morning. Lucky you.

@jewel21 how's Steve and your owie?

How are y'all doing?!

Aw, thanks for asking.

Steve is starting his second week of antibiotics. He's still not singing and his appetite is still not up to par but I think he's eating a bit more. It's hard to tell. He preens a lot since he's molting, and he flew quite a bit today which I guess is a good sign.

I took away his favorite toy on the off-chance it was making him sick and he seems bored without it. I'm also being more diligent with the cage bottom cleaning and I covered some of the parts of the cage where the paint is missing with vetwrap as a precaution. Steve is now scared of one side of his cage as a result *sighs*

He's going for a check-up next Friday so we'll see what happens and what the vet says. I'm still worried though.

My owie still hurts. It's still swollen and sore. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm just hoping it's a muscle strain that is having issues healing since I exercise 6 days a week, and not something more serious.

On a positive note, I'm on vacation this week which is nice. I'm supposed to go to Quebec City on Friday which will be nice, even if it's going to rain the whole day, heh.

How is everyone else?

Y&R lost a Day One viewer.  My mother died June 25th and we buried her last Friday.  She was 93 years old.  At my request, the service opened with "Nadia's Theme".  It got quite a reaction from those in attendance.  My sister turned to me and said "Oh, no, you didn't." and I said "Oh, yes, I did.".  I had told her and Mr. Gloriole that there would be a mystery song and neither one of them figured it out.  A lot of people immediately understood the significance, a few of them (I imagine) were appalled and a smattering thought it was the theme from DOOL.  But the beauty, majesty and haunting quality of the song won everybody over and it was, in the end, completely appropriate to remember our mother this way.  We later sang "Amazing Grace", paid tribute to our father with "Moonlight in Vermont" and ended the service with "I'll Be Seeing You".  Some laughter, some tears.  RIP, Mom.

I'm very sorry for your loss, Gloriole...it sounds like a lovely service.

My grandmother was a loyal Y&R watcher, too; she and I always enjoyed discussing the show. When she died at 91 in 1992, the minister mentioned this during the funeral, and it brought a smile to our faces.

My condolences, Gloriole33. The service sounds lovely though. I love that you used Nadia's theme.

Valley - I'm surprised Kate Linder will be in attendance. Her husband just died recently.

Gloriole33, my deepest sympathy for losing your Mom.  The service sounds like a wonderful, personal tribute to her.  That song holds a very special meaning now.

My best to you.

yes, i know..

sometimes tho, it's best to stay busy instead of dwelling on your grief, instead, find peace and love doing something you enjoy...

and, maybe because plans have been made for months, she feels she can't back out.

i think he was a doctor, so in someways, she is paying tribute to him.

Pole dancing, anyone?

I decide to escape to the city today.  Our temps out here were forecast to hit 116 - it was 121 when I got home - so I headed into San Francisco for the day.  Usually I meet a friend but today I wanted a day to myself with lower temps, coolish breezes and no expectations.

I walked over to look at the new Salesforce Tower, 1000 + foot building going up downtown.  It's a monster.  I was walking back to Market Street, blinded by the sun and I walked smack dab, face first into a pole.  And I wasn't strolling.  I grap on to the pole to keep from falling, swing around it twice and then fall to one knee, a geriatric Gene Kelly wannabe routine.  Nothing's hurt, a bruise here and there, the biggest damage is to my pride.  I, ahem.... am not the youngster I once was, and two extremely lovely young people came rushing to my rescue, something I greatly appreciated.  He helped me up, she pulled out some tissues and cleaned off my arm and man did I feel old.  While they were doing that, another two guys gathered up my now scattered belongings.  They all stuck around until I convinced them I was good to go.

I was never on the "Millenials are self-absorbed" bandwagon to begin with.  Lumping people into artificial groupings and then passing judgement on them is something I've always found appalling.  It's been done to me in my younger days.

But anybody who wants to diss the younger generation after the wonderful help I had today will have a fight on their hands with me.  I'll probably walk into another pole or something but I'll do down fighting.

Nice people like those 4 who helped me......just makes you feel good.

@boes accidents happen to everybody. I was gonna share some stories I've witnessed just by working in grocery but decided not to nerd up this joint.

It's nice that those people stopped. That heat sounds like a beast!

@jewel21 I think of you and Steve often. I know it's been hard for you, you love him so much and he's been so brave -plus you're juggling other matters. When my dog is sick or hurt/distressed it's horrible I would rather it be me X 20 then him any of that.   I hope handsomeboy* gets well soon and you do too.

@Gloriole33 @PatsyandEddie @peacheslatour You guys continue to teach me so much. I appreciate you and enjoy your posts.

*i always call him that in my head when I send happy healing vibes since he's so aristocratic looking. I know I said I wouldn't nerd but just did.

Aww, I love you, Petunia. Thanks so much for keeping me and Steve in your thoughts. I really appreciate it *hugs* He really is a handsome boy. I have this fear lately that there will come a time when I will have to put him down and the thought terrifies me. He's only five years old and cockatiels can live until 20 and some even to 30 years old. I just keep hoping he can hold on.

Boes - I'm glad you didn't get too hurt and people stopped to help you. Sometimes they can definitely surprise us.

I really hope not either Jewels. I know your brain travels there since you love him so much and health just in general for anything can be so dicey. And you're probably pragmatic and a worrier, I do that a LOT, it's natural. But positive thoughts, good vibes, we are rooting for you both. I know he loves you and appreciates everything he has.

Ouch! I've done that running a couple of times (City of Burbank made some inconvenient traffic changes). Each time was with an audience, who kept their laughing to a minimum as they helped me off the pavement.

You are right about the kindness of strangers, Boes.

Jewel -- The best you can do is special care and monitor Steve's progress, and that's what you're doing. Keep a good thought and we will too.

Petunia -- Love your new avatar of George all beautified!

Neither was I. My son is a millenial and he and his friends are really community oriented. I guess every generation needs to put down the ones that come later.

It absolutely was. I had been drifting in and out of sleep and as soon as I heard him start singing, I woke right up and just started grinning from ear to ear. He later flew onto the bed and nestled into the crook of my arm and took a nap. It was a nice morning.
