Anyone else been struggling this year? I've been down a lot, and getting anxiety attacks and feeling overwhelmed. Work has been stressful, my favorite co-worker was fired last month. My manager quit with one day's notice and dumped all her workload on me. And the cute security guard I enjoyed looking at on a daily basis quit. And today, after killing myself the past couple of weeks, I learn the new hire who has been here exactly 3 weeks is apparently the new manager but no one bothered to tell me or my other colleagues. And he still can't even bill people properly. I kind of lost my shit with him and was like 'but if you're the manager, then why am I going through the bills and writing evaluations for interns? This should be your job.' Not my finest moment but like, fuck this shit. Tomorrow I'm going to show him how to send the employee hours, give him the huge list of account receivables and all the bills that are outstanding (of which there is a ton) and let him deal with it. Have fun.

@jewel21I think a lot of folks are struggling the past year. I suspect it's because we're coming out of the unusual experience of lock down, and people are trying to act like things are back to normal but in reality Covid is still here, as you, Pasty and I well know. On top of that there is, IMO, a lot of anxiety over people who are still trying to engage in safe practices like giving people distance when you're in lines, etc., masking indoors, etc. And workplaces may be acting like it's business as usual when it's not. We will never go back to what life before Covid, IMO. We can't because too many people didn't do what was asked if them and the result is a virus that has muted beyond control (I say this as a public health specialist). So I think that causes a lot more stress, anxiety and a sort of social mourning fit life before Covid, if that makes sense..

It's not just you. xo

Thanks for asking gingerella!

The mister and the SIL feel much better. I am extremely fatigued today. I have fibromyalgia but this tiredness is even worse. I’m just glad that the grand that has it has nothing more than a runny nose.
Loving the snark on this forums. Show is soooo bad that the jokes write themselves

I found that for about 4-5 weeks after I tested negative and was officially out of quarantine, I was very fatigued and mentally spacey. Those are common after effects and I found it took about 2 weeks to clear my brain fog, and another 2-3 weeks to get back up to my normal walking/daily about town speed again. Just take it very easy and allow yourself to rest as needed. I was told to not push it because it could prolong recovery.

Can you even imagine how you'd feel if you hadn't gotten vaxxed?!

Thanks for the advice ginger. It makes perfect sense that pushing it can actually make it worse. Same with fibro, don’t push it when you are having a good because you will ruin the next several days.
I have thought about how cruddy this would have been without vaccines and masks. Jeebus, I don’t know why anyone would forgo them.

Don't think my questions belong on the show thread, so I am posing them here to you posters who are way more show savvy then me. First, the show seemed to start eliminating sets, stylists, good costuming, and writers. Now, younger trending characters like Ally, Faith, Noah, Moses, & Amira have gone missing. My question is could the cumulative salaries/benefits to "old guard" characters like Victor, Nikki, Jack, Sharon, Ashley, Nick, Phyllis, Victoria, Billy and the remaining "writer" JG be dragging this show down financially? Because IMO, these characters have all passed their expiration dates of being young (or for the most part restless) and the writing is dull as dust. IMO, somebody needs to hit the "refresh" button on the show and scripts. Hugs to all the posters here that are having health challenges, wishing speedy recoveries to you all, and the show too!

I don't really follow the behind-the-scenes stuff very closely.  I only know what other posters have mentioned here, so my answer might not mean much.  Someone has said recently that the CBS studios are being renovated, so that (along with budget cuts) might account for the limited sets.  And apparently younger people generally aren't that into soaps anymore, considering all of the other options they have for distractions.  If they aren't attracting many new younger viewers, that may explain the emphasis on the "old guard" characters.  I agree with you about this writer.  He really has no idea how to tell a story.  I've been watching so long, the show is more of a habit that I should probably try to kick!

Others probably have better answers to your questions.

I'm also sending my best wishes to everyone dealing with health issues, annoying colleagues, and/or other nuisances!

If you post the above in the "Reel to Real" thread you might get more traction there!

@PatsyandEddie, How're you doing?!?

Getting there gingerella! Thanks for asking.  Still weary but the nasal symptoms are gone and the cough is decreasing. Mr Pats feels even better but then he’s younger than I am.
Would be nice if Show was getting better at the same speed snerk

I'm not sure if this got much press, but the CDC has approved and recommends an additional Covid booster for people over 65 years old and for those with compromised immune systems.  I took my parents to get theirs yesterday.  I want one, too!  But I'm not eligible.  I feel stupid for being annoyed that I'm under 65 and that my immune system is ok.  😕

Nah, I get it. I remember asking my doctor years ago (at least 10 or so) whether I needed any vaccines. She was like what do you mean? I told her as a kid we got a ton of vaccines but as adults I hadn't gotten one since I turned 18 and had stopped seeing my pediatrician. I remember asking her about the shingles vaccine and she looked at me like I was nuts and told me that was only for people 50 or older. I'm still disappointed I can't get it yet, heh. I did however finally get the HPV vaccine last week after wanting it for years. I have to get a second dose in 6 months but I'm so happy to have finally bit the bullet and asked for it. And with my insurance instead of costing me $249 I only had to pay around $65 so double win.

I've never understood why when the shingles vaccine is mentioned it's usually only mentioned for people 50 and older. I mean anyone can get shingles and the severity isn't just saved for those above 50.

To add on to what Gingerella said, I have never seen this country as politically decisive as it is now. I am not making this into a political post, just commenting that things seemed to be going along well for quite a few hears and then things got nasty. I also think the internet has brought about incivility.  Its a different world and imo not getting better.

No, the internet just made it easier for incivility to happen on a larger scale behind varying degrees of anonymity.

Up until internet/world wide web/browsers/social media became available to the general public, incivility mostly happened on a local, interpersonal level. In certain parts of the country the local concurrences were pretty dire.

I thinknthe internet and thr anonymity it provides has given hateful people a huge global platform to spew their hate and never have to suffer the consequences since they are hiding behind screen names, etc.

Thank you so much for remembering, Snap!

I hope all my preverts are well. I don't remember which one of you told me to watch Derry Girls but I am loving it. I just finished the second season. And I'm proud to say I don't really need the subtitles to understand but sometimes I admit, I need to go back, lol.

It's so funny!  How much do you love the nun?

The nun is probably my favorite character, but I love them all. Claire is probably one of my favorite girls. I also have a soft spot for James.

A friend recommended this to me as well and I tried the first few epis but couldn't get into it. Should I try again? I liked the nun and James, but the main girls were just too ridiculous.

I liked how over the top the girls were and the ridiculous situations they found themselves in. I think it also helped that it's set in the 90s and I was about their age. There's a certain nostalgia factor with the music and stuff.

The episodes are pretty short (around 20 minutes each) and the first season is only 6 episodes. I say try and watch the first season and if the characters still haven't grabbed you, then I guess it's just not for you.

I have one episode left and I'm holding off on it. I'm not ready to say bye to these characters just yet.
