I want to share some good news with my fellow preverts and at the same time thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers and encouragement over the years. It's been a year since my last chemo and I had a PET scan on Friday. I just looked up the results that showed no cancer. So, yay, me!

Great news!

There is an actress named Tracy on Dr. Phil that used to be on Y&R and B&B.  They're not giving her last name but I kind of know her face.....who is/was she?

I don't remember Tracy Melchior on Y&R, but I do recall her playing Kristen on B&B.

What I've found online says she briefly played crazy pants Veronica Landers who was the presumed dead wife of Dr. Joshua Landers before Candice Daily took over. Veronica took the job as a maid at the Newman Ranch in the 90's and ended up fixated on Nikki eventually shooting her 4 times which she almost died from.

Thanks Jaded.

The show was about her mother's hoarding.  Sadly, I have a friend with the same problem (and logic).  Beautiful house overlooking a lake and when we first met 25+ yrs ago it was clean and there were parties all the time.  Then her husband became ill with chronic kidney disease and it went down hill from there.  It looks like the mother's house except she hoards cats.  I haven't set foot over there in over 10 yrs although we speak regularly.  The smell will take your breath away and I can smell it in their clothes, too.  Hubby has his basement bed/living room...which he keeps clean himself and has a fridge and microwave so he can cook.  You can't even use the stove upstairs.  She is 60, a college grad, steady job (where she has gotten in trouble for her uber cluttered desk) and keeps an active outside social life.  Does the Dr shopping thing....goes to one psychologist/psychiatrist after another, takes the meds they prescribe until they make her 'feel funny' goes off them so nothing ever changes.

I have offered many times to help her clean out at least the kitchen but her husband says I am her worst nightmare as I can organize stuff well and have started a couple of times but she won't throw away anything.

It's frustrating and madding at the same time as I love these people.....

I live in a townhouse development, and we had a hoarder in one of the houses (the house is currently in foreclosure).  This woman literally did not throw anything out.  For example there was a huge pile of dirty adult diapers in the house...from what I hear she had a dog that she never took out, I wonder if the diapers were put on the dog.  The windows have been opened for several months, but I heard that the smell is still there.  Sad, really.

We had a house like that in Santa Monica. The house was severely damaged in the Northridge earthquake, and the man that lived there refused to leave even though the house was off its foundation, and roof caving in. He was forcibly removed by respirator and Tyvek-suited EMTs. The house was filled with cats, rats, mice, termites, newspaper and magazine collection from the 1950s to 94, detritus from local garbage cans, thousands of hubcaps, bicycle parts, no running water for 10 years … The house had to be tented and gassed to kill off the infestation before it was torn down. It was carted off as toxic waste.

Baking pies, cloverleaf roll dough rising, Nana and Alice ironing linens and setting the table, Melvin sulking and barricaded in the office, Thing1 home and prepping vegetables <squeee!>, Mr.Stunt finishing the gazpacho, flowers delivered, wine chilling, Thing2 peeling potatoes ...

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

Today is pie day and prep day.  I just peeled the chestnuts for the stuffing, the apple pie is baked and the sweet potato will go in next.  Finished the cranberry orange relish - very tasty! - and most important of all, put my favorite sweet white wine in the refrigerator to chill and pulled out the good Merlot for the guests who have taste, which I do not.

Oh yeah, washed the good china which I use often since nobody in the family wants it, no sense in not using it.

Can't WAIT for tomorrow!

Oh yeah....let's talk turkey!

We go to BIL's house every year....they have the biggest place...expecting 25 this year...yikes.

I've made my cranberries, peaches fabu dip, 2 batches of munchie mix (Chex mix to you all) and will make sweet potato souffle w/pecan topping...yummmm...in the morning.  My dear MIL made Chex mix every year for everybody...we all got a big bag....and we always called it Mom's Munchie Mix as she made it so goooood.  Pay no attention to the recipe on the box...wimpy stuff.  Hers was the best.  Takes 4hrs...but it's mostly stirring every 45 min....turn oven off and let sit overnight.

I think I posted the recipe couple of years ago but if anybody wants it let me know......

Everybody have a happy one!!!  I know I will.  I went last year but was so sick I couldn't eat a thing......got bit by a spider the day before and almost went to the hospital.  I didn't want to miss it 'cause it's the only time we get to see some out of state folks.

Keep the Alka-Seltzer at the ready!

I'm only making a large turkey breast and two huge legs since there's only going to be four of us and possibly my dad's neighbor. I've already roasted the breast (Ina's recipe) and now the legs are in the oven. Next I'll make the mashed potatoes and the stuffing (dressed up Stove Top) and the sweet potatoes, baked, scooped out and mashed with butter, salt and pepper and topped with a little brown sugar and pecans. DH made two pumpkin pies this morning. I can't believe how much butter I'm going through.

I'll make the rolls tomorrow and then we'll cart the whole extravaganza over to my dad's. He's so excited about the pie! I told him about all the stuff i"m bringing and he just kept going "I'm getting a pie though, right??"

Gotta' be organized when you're hosting a ThanksChristmas invasion with linen tablecloths and Christmas china.

It's 20+; three of Thing2's friends are joining us at last count. Without access to the patio, we had to rearrange the furniture to handle all the seating. The office was turned into a TV/game room. Melvin got some exercise and is a little better today, but will have to take half a Kat tranquilizer for breakfast and lunch if he's going to make it through Thanksgiving dinner. Poor malcontented creature surrounded by human revelry.

I needed to Google-Fu and oh my! What a lovely place to spend Christmas!

I made Peach's dip for pre-dinner snacking tonight, and her fantastic pumpkin cookies since the oven was hot. Then had to make another batch of cookies, because Yum.

I love sweet potato soufflé's, but the family skrinches up their nose and demands sweet potato pie instead -- More for me, Barbarians!

Mmmm! Chestnut stuffing …

Liquid comestibles must take priority.

Me too!

Washing the china is one of those household jobs I enjoy. As I wash and dry each plate, I remember the people and meals I've shared. The memory of love, comfort and hope.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody! May your day be filled with food, family, and fun.

And drinks, don't forget the drinks. I actually bought myself a bottle of cheap champagne and orange juice to have a mimosa or three a little later.

how was everyones thanksgiving?

anyone line up for black friday deals?

LOL  in order to compete with the usa, canadian stores now offer black friday deals to keep the shoppers here instead of going across the border to shop..

my daughter lined up at cabelas at about 5:25 this morning for the door crasher specials at 6 am and get a gift card too...

my daughter called me on her way to work (bluetooth)...she said she got the second to last gift card and it was for $25.

the item she wanted wasn't on sale tho, but at least the 25 off helped...

she bought a winter sleeping bag for when she goes camping with the guides/pathfinders.

Thanksgiving was stretch pants-worthy! Secret Santa and the Pink elephant was lots of fun.

I ordered a few things online this morning, but my Christmas shopping is done. Mr.Stunt and Thing1 and 2 left before dawn to hit the stores. I'm not a Black Friday shopper.

I have to take Melvin to the cat hotel, finish the laundry and pack the Suburban for our visit to my parents.

The in-laws were cooking for 25+ but almost half didn't make it 'cause the young'uns were sick.  I have a ton of leftover turkey, ham, oyster stuffing, scalloped corn, green beans, cranberries, dip & veggies, 3 desserts...more.  I don't have to cook for days.

Fine by me!

Curious--what's scalloped corn?

George is so fashionable!

No shopping for me. I never did understand how getting crushed in a crowd was fun but hats off to those who do.. I’m ordering online even with our postal strike. I’ve been getting parcels all along.

I hate shopping even under the best of conditions. The idea of using up one of my favorite days of the year, the day after Thanksgiving, to go out and fight my way through crowds of crazed shoppers give me a serious case of the yips. On line shopping has been a godsend but before that I did all my shopping out of catalogs.

hubby and i went to the mall this morning..

the parking lot was packed so he dropped me off in front of the door and he went and found a parking spot.

we went in to walmart and we bought a 32" rca tv for $88.

have to wait until monday before the shaw guy gets here with our new box...apparently we can't hook it up by ourselves anymore and the tech guy has to do it.

then i went to hudson's bay and bought my housecoat for 40% off...i am going to wash it first before i wear it...

George has always loved fashion and clothes. He will grin and race to a new outfit or clean jammies.  Thanksgiving Day I spent with him bonding. Since I posted about it I haven't been speaking to or seeing my mother (because it wasn't safe for me emotionally or physically) but she'd been harassing me via phone and on my job. Thanksgiving evening her dog died suddenly so now I'm back to speaking to her / helping her 😥 It's a mess.

@valleycliffe a new tv and fresh comfy clothes sounds cozy!

@OhioSongbird thanksgiving leftovers are the best kind of leftovers!  I am a sucker for stuffing! It's hard to find or make a good vegan one. 👍🏼😜potatoes and dip and veggies. Ugh I can eat them everyday.

a vegan stuffing?

the stuffing i make is":

i use a cube of margarine, let it melt in a pot, add my onions and celery and saute, then i add my salt, pepper sage and poultry seasoning, stir that all in, then add my stale bread or bread cubes, stir that around, add a little water and et voila, it's done....i also sometimes put it in an aluminium foil over top instead of putting it inside the turkey...inside my turkey i will put in an onion and cut up oranges....

i first did it that way when hubby was going to put the turkey in the oven but i was going to the casino for xmas day as it was just he and i at home for dinner and couldn't put the stuffing inside the bird cause it would be several hours before it went into the oven...

i have always made just plain stuffing, no sausage or chestnuts or anything....i do it this way cause that is the way my mother made it..

They're filming some sort of movie on my street tomorrow. They already put up the no parking signs and there are some trailers parked across the street. I believe it's a French film, and I don't know either of the two actors who will be filming here tomorrow, but it's still so cool!

Ah, jewel, Montreal! Mon pays, ce n'est pas un pays, c'est l'hiver...

People location-shoot a lot of film and TV [and commercials] around where I live. Unfortunately, we generally start swearing when we see the orange cones and the Panavision or Wm F White vans and Starwagons. It screws up traffic, parking, and pretentious little Gofers are all over, talking into their headphones.

No snow here, just November grey.

lolol, so yesterday i had to go grocery shopping and dh went into jysk to see about getting a wall mount (on sale for 9.99) for our new tv for family room...he started looking around for it and happened upon the furniture area and spotted a double recliner on sale for half price...we have been looking for one for quite a while as the recliners (2) we have are on it's last legs...anyway, i went in to look at it, sat in it, liked it so we bought it...credit card is getting quite a workout....dh went back to store to pick it up with utility trailer and it came in 3 separate boxes...lol the instructions were in pictographs...took a bit but finally we got it put together...it even has a middle console to store all the remotes in....it also has holders for glasses...my coffee cup doesn't fit in it tho...

it seems whenever we "just go look" at things, we end up bringing it home..

this was our christmas present to each other..

So far I have witnessed the following:
1. A limo
2. A 70s looking Chyrsler and another older looking car.
3. A group of people clustered around one another further down my street in the park.
4. One of the group members had a green blanket drapped around him so I believe he is one of the actors. Looks young, 20s, but cute and brunette.
5. Every few feet, there are men and women in vests on my side of the street so I couldn't snap any pics and it's driving me crazy.

I went looking on the Burberry site a few days ago. Discovered their annual sale. Bought a purse $600 dollars off the regular price. Still way more than I ever should have spent. My credit card and I will be crying next month when the statement arrives. I have a handbag problem. Although it's usually only reserved for Coach and Michael Kors...

Today I woke up to rain. Huge puddles and it's starting to freeze in places. Shitty day to be shooting a movie. At least it's mild, though.

I love anything movie and TV related. I went to Vancouver years back and stumbled upon so many shooting locations. I was in heaven. It's lucky I don't live there though because I'd never make it into work, lol.
