It seems so with Thomas and Ivy talking about not being blood.

That was so glaring and hilarious that Ivy actually spelled it out for the audience today: "We are not related by blood! Your parents are Ridge and Taylor and my parents are John and Aussie Lady, so we are IN NO WAY blood-related and therefore, we're fair game!"

Thomas is going after Ivy and now she/Thomas/Wyatt will be a triangle. WTH. They have the same last name, I can ignore the illegal gross when they have a different last name, but if Thomas and Ivy marry what? Carter would ask do you Thomas Forrester take Ivy Forrester?

Especially since

Ivy has been referring to Steffy as her cousin. Steffy is her cousin, but Steffy's brother is not???

90% of today's show was horseshit.

The usual.

It'll be more entertaining as the story progresses when secondary characters like Pam and Charlie will pop out of nowhere screaming "no blood relation, no blood relation!"

Of Course Raya didn't see the deer in headlights look on the girl. That doesn't look like a confident person to me. Plus, the doctor should've insisted on going over everything again without those two in the room.

And Ivy and Thomas? So his sister is your cousin, but they have the same mother and father? Yet, he's not related to you.

Ivy and the Rapist Goon?

425e9570-47fe-0131-fb25-0a5349559842.gif

Even if Thomas wasn't a rapist goon, he is still her cousin, blood ties or no. She was just referring to Steffy as being cousins with the whole kiss and make up (puke!) scenes so you can't just hand-wave that little detail away.

Also, I absolutely adore Ivy and Wyatt together, they are the one thing, besides the rare Quinn/Deacon sighting, that keeps me tuning in. So of course TPTB have to fuck that all to hell.

At this point, I wouldn't even care if Nicole backed out because she's worried about Zende, just as long as she backs the hell out.

Meanwhile, I'll be over here pretending I don't see the shit they're pulling with Ivy and Thomas.  Nope. Not happening.

Does B&B read social media? It seems so with Thomas and Ivy talking about not being blood. This gives credence to my previous post about Ivy is Forester by blood and Thomas is Forester by a legal document.

Maybe they do read social media, but they're just going according to their own history. It's known that Thomas is not a blood Forrester, as Ridge (his father) found out while he was in his 40s that Eric is not his bio dad. It's not a secret Ridge and Eric were keeping either, the characters are aware.

Thomas is a sexual predator and nothing more.

Not that I'm trying to be looking out for sexual predators but gosh, if only Thomas lived somewhere where there were tons of beautiful young women (or well-preserved older ones if that floats his boat). He's in friggin' LOS ANGELES, home of the world-renowned "California Girl", and is a wealthy heir to a fashion house fortune. Women/girls would be falling all over him if he'd just step outside the walls of FC and his own family tree. I think this show is really scraping the bottom of the barrel if this is the best they can do to create a love triangle.

Is it wrong that the first thought I had was "Better him than Hope spoiling Wyvy"? Because as little as I care for this Thomas, I find the idea of Hope suddenly wanting Wyatt when she couldn't care less about him during their entire two second marriage and carrying his baby (presumably) to be even more of a stretch. Thomas has had the hots for Rick's sloppy seconds aka Amber, for Hope and then Brooke, so him moving in on Ivy is SOP for this show.

I don't see Rick and Maya as the bad guys here.  They've given Nicole AMPLE opportunities to say no and she just will not do it.  And it's not as if they're holding something over her head like her internship if she says no.  At some point, yes means yes.  Jules doesn't give a shit about Nicole... if he did, he wouldn't be pimping her out to fake Russell Wilson.

Thomas is pushing up on Ivy when he knows she's involved with Wyatt?  They're making him the greasiest fuck on the entire show.  I really don't want to hate Ivy... please don't let her fall for that stiff.

Feh, Nicole and Zende. I'm not convinced that he's really into her and it's simply not believable to me that the surrogacy is an issue for him regardless. That said, if he decides that he wants to, um, get it in before Nicole gets pregnant, I'm not gonna be surprised. (But ew, Papa Avant, don't go there. You've done enough on the Zende front.).

Ugh, I loathe Maya for doing this to her sister. She is a master of passive-aggressive manipulation and poor young Nicole is no match for her. Neither is Rick for that matter. I wonder if there'd ever be any circumstances where he'd reclaim his balls and refuse to concede to Queen Maya's imperial wishes.

fake Russell Wilson

Oh yeah, I can kinda see that. Up until now I've been viewing Zende and Nicole as young versions of Rick Fox and Vanessa Williams.

I really cannot see Hope coming back for Wyatt but for Liam. Liam is the one she had the sad goodbye with and It was like Wyatt who. Beside It would be great satisfaction, for Hope, to steel back Liam.

Thomas goes after Ivy,  Quinn gets involved, loses Deacon in the process, and BOOM!  Quinn and Thomas are now and Item!

Quinn yawns and accidentally snaps Thomas in half. She calls Deacon and they laugh at her predicament. They decide to bury Thomas in the Forrester Mansion sculpture garden -- The problem with STD Thomas is solved! Lust and riding crops blossom anew on the floor of Quinn's kitchen.

Did I miss something? Have there been rumblings about a return of Hope? Please, no. I couldn't take another three years of the ToD. At least it would be comeuppance for Steffy, but still no.

The writers have tried every possible pairing with Thomas (in all incarnations) and nothing has stuck. The latest chem-testing with Ivy is a disaster. It seems so random -- and forced. Does this mean the possible WTD ToD has been dropped and forgotten? I'm firmly on board with him coming out of the closet.

I cringe when Papa Avant tries to goad Zende with all of the physical visuals of a possible Nicole pregnancy, but face it. Zende is a young man living in L.A. Actually, I can't think of any better motivation to persuade him to talk Nicole out of going through with the surrogacy.

BTW, what's the difference between a surrogate and a gestational carrier? They sound like one and the same to me...

UGH---have not been watching and Thomas is a big part of that---I am a TK fan from ABC but when I didn't much care for him on Port Charles I let that one go---of course in those days there were lots of alternate choices---when he was Patrick on OLTL  I lurved him (English lit major--lol) and when he was Zack I was OK but I never was all that with him and Kendall but I knew he liked that pairing and they were friends in real life so OK---now??? I would have never seen him as Rigid as I loathed Ronnn Moss but still he can do it---even if he is a fish out of water---  but Thomas is an ass (much like Devon aka Elmer Fudd on Y&R) and now I see Caroline as a wimpy sniffer and I just quit the whole thing---still like Ivy but it is not enough and I will not even start on the awful Avant family---

A surrogate provides the egg(s), carries the child, and she's genetically tied to the baby. This is what they're asking Nicole to do. And if plans change, it can be a challenge to convince the courts why the surrogate should give up the baby to the intended parents. Why? That baby would biologically be hers, and a surrogate can always change her mind. A judge would have to decide what's in the best interests of the child. That's why I was SMH when they glossed over everything at the doctor's appointment.

There have been cases where the woman who gave birth--regardless as to the DNA-- was in fact granted custody. I remember some cases like that in the UK. This is why some of us agree that it's a bad move to ask Nicole to do this because should she decide, "Hey. I want to keep my baby," all hell would break loose. In the eyes of the court, Nicole would be the natural mother. It works differently in different places, but Nicole's rights would have to be terminated during the pregnancy or shortly thereafter so that Maya could be the child's legal parent. However, those agreements don't always stick and hold up when it comes to this type of surrogacy. As I saw in one case, the surrogate changed her mind after some type of legally binding judgement was handed down that removed her rights and granted them to the intended parents. She took it to the supreme court of the state, and they ruled that the agreement was unenforceable because it was genetically her child and the judge essentially couldn't prove that it wasn't in the best interest of the child to stay with his/her bio mother. This surrogate had been paid and all legalities had been handled. Traditionally surrogacy is vague under some laws. There are more laws to protect the intended parents of a child born by GC.

A GC is usually implanted with fertilised eggs that have been donated/belong to the mother and the male's sperm. Thus, a GC isn't biologically related to the child. (Guiliana Rancic did this. Though she couldn't carry a pregnancy to term, IVF specialists were able to take her eggs and Bill's sperm and implant the embryos into a GC. The child or children are biologically theirs.) As opposed to IUI--intrauterine insemination--the fertilisation process for GC occurs in a lab--in vitro--and the embryo(s) are then placed in the uterus of the GC.

This is what they should do. It would still be an Avant/Forrester baby, and it all it would take is a sample from Rick, Nicole's egg(s), and professional GC to carry the child to term.

I love this scenario so much.  It reminds me of my favorite Alfred Hitchcock tv episode, where a wealthy but seemingly ditzy housewife kills not only her husband's money-grubbing fling, but also the cab driver who could identify the husband as a murder suspect.  She buried the cabbie under her rose bushes while her husband gained a new appreciation for his wife's steely determination.  Of course they both went to jail in the end, but I'd be fine with Quinn and Deacon getting away with installing Thomas in the sculpture garden and laughing about it for years to come.

What's with Wyatt's random valley girl voice he uses "yea that'd be like, so totally tubular." Some thing tells me that isn't in the script and the actor ad libs it.

I don't think the giant bun on the crown of her head, tight spandexy gray, and clunky necklace is cute on Ivy. It's a pretty dated and mature look.

Julius cracked me up when he asked if anyone works around Forrester. The actor has a way of delivering his lines with an edge, adding humor or meaning.

Thomas is such a creepy lech.

I simply love Papa A's political incorrectness. No sugar coating it for this man; nope, you won't hear him talking about "the greatest gift", instead he just lays it bare with "do you want to see Nicole big as a house with Rick's baby?, or "getting pregnant by your brother-in-law?, or "this isn't a "gift", it is a sacrifice!". I also have no problem with Papa A working Zende; in another scenario I might, but someone needs to step up and speak for, not to mention, look out for Nicole's best interests. Cause I don't see that happening with Maya, Rick or these so called "specialists" who are apparently rubber stamping this surrogacy. What is surprising me more than anything is Mama A's acquiescence. I get that she wants to make things right with Maya, but that shouldn't mean to the exclusion of everyone else, and certainly not to the exclusion of right from wrong. It almost seems like she is willing to sacrifice Nicole in order to some how make up for all the years she was separated from Maya. However, it appears that this nonsense is going to happen; Maya has once again pulled out her little magic wand of ME, ME, ME.....IT IS ALL ABOUT ME, ALL OF THE TIME!, and has waved it over all the pertinent parties heads, sprinkling them with her very own special brand of "You know you love me" dust. I hate her. And because it can't be said enough.....I HATE HER. She has clearly surpassed Rick in the manipulation department, and has assumed the lead role in their relationship. Where he used to be the dictator and the tyrant, and she his henchman; those roles have clearly been reversed. Rick pads along behind Maya like a good little puppy should; only squeaking out his responses as Maya dictates. Yes, just a veritable tag team of terribleness. If it wasn't for Nicole, and the fact that we have had no happy pregnancies on this show in years, I would wish the worst to happen. Even so, part of me still does. I hope Zende somehow manages to bring the bacon home before they take the turkey baster to Nicole. Or, maybe Nicole could be so bonded that she doesn't want to give up the baby, which would undoubtedly bring out the worst in Maya, showing Nicole what her blessed sister is really all about. There is no way on God's Green Earth that I want to see these to heinous bullies ever get what they want. And before I forget to mention it; Nicole, in no way, looks ready and mentally prepared for this. She looks confused, and scared, and unsure. The girl looks lost actually. But what the fuck! We gonna have us a little Avant/Forrester baby real soon, and I suspect it won't be long before the request for baby number two arrives at Nicole's vagina.

I have retrieved my childhood yardstick because Thomas needs some schoolin.........WHACK! NO WHACK! YOU WHACK WHACK!! DON'T! WHACK! YOU WHACK! CAN WHACK! JUST WHACK! BACK WHACK! OFF WHACK WHACK!! BUSTER!!!. Now you just listen hear Thomas Forrester Marone! You keep your gnarly, creepo, horny, prickly little hands off of Ivy. I am hella pissed off I tell you. What is wrong with this friggin show? Why is it that we cannot have any rootable couples? Ivy and Wyatt ring right on all cylinders; they are cute, they are funny, they have fun, and most importantly, they come off as a normal young couple getting to know each other. And what is this vendetta against Wyatt having some damn happiness? First he has to wrestle with his own brother, now he has to wrangle Ivy away from her cousin? What a bunch of blahooey. This show is cornering the market for the sticky icks in my house. Rick and Steffy, Rick and Phoebe, Ridge and Bridget, Taylor and Rick; UGH, just plain sick, sick, sick. And because we cannot, under any circumstances, have one unsullied female character, they are trying to ruin Ivy. First with the dreaded and hated VIDAYHO and !!MURDURAHH!!, now with her flirting and playing kissing cousins with Thomas. Step off show, and gain a clue, or buy a vowel; just do something to shake it up that doesn't include family members macking on each other.

Rick and Maya are absolutely the bad guys because they are taking advantage of someone who is too young and feels too beholden to them for her wonderful new life to say no. Nicole does not have the maturity or experience to make this decision. They should never, ever have asked her. I think the father does care and he's using any weapon he can to try to squash this fucked up plan. The mother is getting on my nerves because she needs to speak up and help her youngest child. I could see Raya asking this favor several years down the line, which would still gross me out, but it would not be unreasonable.

It's going to end in tears because she's going to grow attached to the spawn.

As for some posts I've seen here and elsewhere that Maya and Rick have given Nicole plenty of chances to back out, um, no. Not hardly.

Their giving her an out has basically sounded like this, "Nicole, ofcourseyoucanchangeyourmind(tiniest of pauses)okaylet'sgetthispregnancystarted." Cue big toothy grins.

Also, is this the face of someone who is just dying to conceive, carry, and give birth to your spawn?

While Rick and Maya were celebrating and doing the victory dance, Nicole looked scared shitless. Nothing in her face says, "I'm ready to be pregnant." Then again, that generally isn't what 18/19 year olds want to do. Where are this young lady's friends? She's not friends with any of the other interns? I'd love for her to have somebody her age to talk to about this. I think my friends would've been weirded out and concerned about how I would cope.

This is how I view most of the negative reactions to Rick and Maya in this situation... it's not even about what they're asking of Nicole.  It about stuff that happened long before this storyline was "conceived".  Objectivity isn't easy with this storyline for viewers who detested them to begin with.  But I'm guilty of that too with other characters.  I can't imagine any situation in which I would agree with Julius.  He's a bigoted buffoon.

Yaasss!   Every word is exactly how I feel.   I bolded the highlights.   I despised Maya Veronica Lodge Forrester.  She is a selfish doe eyed manipulating wench and those damn writers are coming for my Ivy and I ain't having it.    They better not stick her with Hans Klopek Forrester.

I'm about to bust from anger with this shit.   It's bad enough Hans is her cousin (blood or not) but it's damn HANS!!!!   My Ivy is a regal gorgeous beauty who deserves way better than that leering leacherous creep.   Ugh!!!!

I need a damn serial killer to come to BB and get rid of Thomas, Maya, and Steffy.   Those three are testing me.

STD Thomas

I laughed so hard at this I've got sore ribs now. Thanks!

I don't think the giant bun on the crown of her head, tight spandexy gray, and clunky necklace is cute on Ivy. It's a pretty dated and mature look.

Agree on the hairdo and matronly jewelry but I've noticed Caroline and Steffy wearing similar long and slim silhouettes recently. Maybe that's the new fashion now?

As for some posts I've seen here and elsewhere that Maya and Rick have given Nicole plenty of chances to back out, um, no. Not hardly.

Yep. Maya keeps saying that and Rick keeps agreeing with her but that's not what I've been seeing. Are the writers ghost-lighting us? Again? ("What are these silly internet people on about this week? Come on, what happened between Thomas and Caroline was a silly drunken tryst that neither is to blame for. Consent? Nobody cares about consent. Gah, these people!")

This is how I view most of the negative reactions to Rick and Maya in this situation... it's not even about what they're asking of Nicole.  It about stuff that happened long before this storyline was "conceived".

This is the same problem Y&R is having, much to the dismay of many long-time loyal fans. A whole raft of characters who've done plenty of heinous stuff going one, two, three decades back are not believable for some viewers as having an infallible moral high ground today. It pretty much only works if TPTB assume most of the viewers haven't been watching more than a year, tops, and I'm not sure that's a reasonable assumption.

I've only been watching B&B solidly for a couple of years and as much as I'd like to forget the stuff Maya and Rick have done in that time frame, it's not possible. AFAIC, what they're doing to Nicole is most certainly a continuation of the same self-serving, self-justifying behavior I've seen from both of them in the relatively short time I've been on board. And, while Papa Avant is a bigot on LBGTQ issues I think he's 100% right about what they're trying to pull on innocent young Nicole. I'm fine with being in his corner on the surrogacy while also abhorring his vile stances on other matters.

Rick and Maya have a long way to go to redeem themselves in this viewers eyes. I have given up on them ever giving a true apology for their crap behavior; at this point I would settle for them simply acknowledging how they have conducted their business. I also feel I am very objective when it comes to these two; I objectively see them as a pair of bullies and consummate manipulators. And those traits are shining through with this new SL. The way I see it, nothing has changed, so I do find what happened before this relevant since the same things that drove the "CEO" SL are driving this one; entitlement, narcissism, greed and an overall feeling of superiority. I have been watching soaps since the early sixties, and have changed my feelings about rotten characters many times over the years, but those characters did something to earn my forgiveness. I am still waiting for that with Rick and Maya.

Thanks PsychedelicTrip; so glad to see you back with us!

Thanks CountryGirl and Waldo13; since I am unable to take a club to the writers heads, or Bradley's for that matter, I must vent my hostility and frustrations through the keyboard.

A glorious post, RuntheTable.

IDK how it matters to anyone else whether I detest Myra and PRick because of the awful selfish heinous things they did in the past or the awful selfish heinous thing they doing now. *shrugs*

I don't really care about Nicole but I think she knows Myra well enough to know that if Nicole doesn't pony up with this great "gift", Nicole would be packed and on the street faster than you could say "transgender princess" .

I'm in love with Quinn and her channeling her innermost self as a princess while Pam stands there in a clown costume. Priceless!!

Why oh why do they have to destroy Ivy's character. First with the blackmailing than with the undies model and finally with accepting the flirtations of Thomas. WTF is Ivy saying to Thomas about being there exactly when I need you exactly at the right time? Than she looks like she wants to jump his bones right there right than. I cannot believe this bullshit. Are Thomas and Joe, of Y&R brothers? Do they have to start another love triangle which I feel the whole Nicole baby mamma drama is becoming. Nicole's love for her sister and her love for Zende.

Speaking of Nicole, Maya, & Rick, in the doctors office, did Rick and Maya have to be there especially when the doctor was asking Nicole questions about her sex life? WTF about Maya chiming in and giving Nicole relationship advice about having sex with Zende? Maya is now in the lead for the most controlling bitch on B&B. The light bulb finally went off in Zende's head on how to talk Nicole out of being used by Maya. Will the hormones, of a "sweet" young virgin out weigh the desire to carry your sister's baby? Is sex better than than being pregnant without knowing sex? We will soon find out. No no Zende, my sister won't allow it.

I don't think you will ever see it. Something I have observed from watching GH and now this show - horrible characters don't have to pay. They get whitewashed. Maya doesn't have to pay for her horrible actions because they magically disappeared the moment it was known she used to have a penis.  Rick doesn't have to pay because he loves Maya so that makes all his sins forgiven too.

Agreed, thewhiteowl. If I liked or was indifferent to Maya and Rick before, this would still put me off.  They're coming at Nicole from a position of perceived power - she owes her life in L.A. to them - her job and her place to live. And she likely feels, deep down, like she somehow "owes" Maya because her loose lips to Wyatt are what led to Maya's public "outing."  She's also clearly uncomfortable with this, but afraid to speak up.  Maya needs to only look beyond herself for two seconds and take a glance at her sister's face to get that this is not someone who is all in with zero doubts.  That Maya refuses to listen to her parents' objections and, instead, got angry that they were even let in on the idea, shows that she's not considering anything beyond her wants.  She wants a baby.  She wants that baby to have Avant DNA.  She wants her teenage sister to carry the baby so she will have unfettered access to her uterus, 24/7.  This is phenomenally selfish.

Had she gone about this not asking, and, after hearing that Rick and Maya were looking into becoming parents, Nicole had volunteered her eggs and womb for the cause, I wouldn't be so grossed out by Maya and Rick.

That hasn't even been remotely intimated on the show at any point during this storyline.

Yes, Maya and Rick REALLY want Nicole to do this for them.  However, I just don't see them as boogeymen who're hoodwinking her.  I sure as heck haven't seen them willing to pull the rug out from under Nicole if she says no.  I don't even remotely understand how they're bad people just for asking her to do this.  Nicole isn't handcuffed to the clinic... she has a choice.  I also refuse to see Nicole as some poor, immature fawn when she can say, "I know how important this is to you, but I'm not ready emotionally or physically for all that this process entails."  And if Rick and Maya react the way you think they would, that would be better for Nicole in the long run.  She would be free of 2 people who obviously don't care about her.

As far as them being "manipulators", how is what Julius and Zende are doing any better?  I would have some respect for Zende if he approached this like an adult whose main concern was the well-being of Nicole.  Instead, he's doing the very thing that others are accusing Rick and Maya of... making it all about him and their relationship.  Why does Nicole have to choose between the two?  Why is he clearly manipulating her by saying "I love you" and trying to have sex?  I personally don't see how their relationship would be affected if he was mature enough not to let that happen.  Julius is just a clown.  I don't give a shit about anything he thinks.

Well, of course! Those with the power that are trying to force compliance never, never state that they are doing so. That would defeat the purpose!  Have they told Nicole that she will suffer no consequence if she chooses not to do this? Have they never lied or exaggerated the truth to get their way? I believe they have been quite vindictive to those that went against them.

She could, but, like a lot of girls her age, I don't think she really has the maturity or sense of self to say that.  That's the problem with relationships with a drastic imbalance of power.  Even if the people in power aren't being malicious, the "lesser" side of the relationship feels like they have to do what they are asked to do, even if they are against it or unsure of it.  There's a reason that any doctor worth their license would not be OK with this situation, and that's because someone with Nicole's level of experience has no real way to understand everything she is agreeing to here, and it's going to be emotionally damaging for some or all of the parties involved at some point.

Haven't watched today's show yet but oh yeah, I knew Maya would pull this. I gotta give it to her, she covers all the bases. The only thing left for her to do is lock Nicole in her bedroom for the next year or so to make sure Nicole doesn't do anything that could remotely ruin Maya's plans. At the very least I'll be surprised if Maya and Rick don't insist that Nicole stop working until the baby is born. (And what about breast-feeding? Is Nicole going to be on the hook for that too? Just throwing it out there because I'm sure Maya will eventually.)

Totally predictable with Nicole and Zende (or however you spell his name). No passion at all between these two but just moving the plot along. This is lazy writing and acting. BB&B is on it's way out like most of the other soaps. The writing is ridiculous, the acting is horrible and this is a dying genre. The few remaining soaps had the opportunity to showcase their excellent writing/acting skills and have totally blown it. It's time to just give it up and move on, people. The actors need to try to find other work because this show and the few others left on TV are dying.

Can I just say how much I hate the big brother people making an appearance on this show? Half the actors on this show can't buy airtime and what airtime there is is wasted on a freaking reality show and creating awkward forced scenes for people I don't give a shit about.

On a positive not Deacon and Quinn looked great. I'm so over these two being wasted.

What? No Steffy and Liam at the Halloween party? I was waiting for them to show up as an organ grinder and her monkey.

Here it comes... Zende and Nicole are going to sleep together and voila! she's pregnant. Then there will be another angst-ridden pregnancy with Nicole guilting and stressing herself sick throughout by wondering if the baby is really hers or Raya's. With two high-stress pregnancies on the canvas, there's gotta be a tock.

Thomas and Ivy DO. JUST. NOT. WORK.
