But what’s the alternative? Would people prefer that pregnant women not get married at all? Be ashamed of the babies? Wait until the kids can be in the bridal party

Well, how about a quiet, private affair (no pun intended) with immediate family.  Not a $40,000 blow out with a big old white dress like the bride is some shy virgin.

Oh, wait, the wedding is just a money grab anyway.  Without the big production, no chance to rake in tons of gifts and cash.  Silly me.

Seems to me, if you have a bun in the oven, or a bushel of children already, there are other, better uses for your money.  I feel the same about blow-out vow renewals (actually, I'm opposed to vow renewals of any kind, but I digress.)  Remember the school principal who had toddler triplets, and was blowing a shit ton of money on an elaborate destination wedding?   The odds those children were born without medical intervention are slim, so imagine what she had already spent on IVF, then the cost of raising 3 kids to adulthood.....  I don't know what public school principals make in your world, but I don't know any who have that kind of discretionary budget.

I have never watched this show but it was on at the hotel lounge. It featured a very oversurguried/botoxed Russian mail order bride who looked like an extra on married to the mob being a bitch to her daughter. The other featured bride was a twenty something tramp stamped golddigger marrying an old rich dude who was looking for a Frederick's of Hollywood style getup. Are all of the people this gross? I don't watch the housewives franchise to steer clear of gals like that.

If they are not physically gross, their behavior usually is.  The emphasis is on drama and these people have no filters.  And don't get me started on the see through Stripper Fairy dresses....

OK I can’t get over the giant stripe of bronzer across the forehead of that Pnina boutique manager.

As a long-time member of S.O.M.P. (Sororal Order of Makeup Police) I wholeheartedly concur, and shall dispatch a member of our team forthwith to issue her a citation for Improper Use of Bronzer.

One day when I was about 13 or 14 years old, in the early 1970's, I asked my mom if it was okay to wear a black wedding gown if one wanted to. My mother was born in *1917*, and so was definitely "old school" in many ways, so needless to say I was surprised when she replied "Of course it is!" Unfortunately, I never had a wedding, so I didn't get to wear the black gown of my dreams. (But it's nice to know my mom would have been on board if I'd had the opportunity to choose a black wedding dress).

However, I do think Camilla looked stunning in both of the black dresses she tried. I thought her tattoos looked better with the black as well (I've always thought white gowns create too great a contrast with multiple, visible tattoos, making the tattoos more obvious, which takes attention away from the gown).

Do the Kleinfeld employees get huge discounts on the dresses?  I can't see how the one employee got TWO custom Pnina dresses otherwise.  Unless, I'm underestimating how much they make as sales associates.

I didn't understand why she needed two dresses.  Oh this dress is just fabulous!!! Then, she changes into another dress.  I guess maybe because the first one was so huge she couldn't really move well or easily in it?  The second dress didn't seem like it would allow her to really dance and party either, though.  If anything, maybe get into a shorter, party type dress?

I thought the bride who wanted black just settled because her mom said oh when I'm dead you'll remember this - ultimate guilt trip.  Her tattoos looked better with the black.  The black veil was a little much, maybe if she'd done just black glittery hair accents or something it wouldn't have been so funeral like.

The bride who wanted to get married on the glacier, when the helicopter ride was cancelled, I was like why not get married on that lodge balcony with the glacier in the background?  It was beautiful.  I didn't care for her dress, either.

The dress Randy designed that had the two pasties and the ball gown skirt was not good looking.  His other dresses looked much better.

The whole ep seemed like a Pnina informercial.  My guess is that she got the dresses at cost in return for half hour of free publicity Pnina received.  The first dress was OK -- but strapless is now looking very dated.

The tattoo lady probably looked better in black but I must agree with Randy that, in the US, wearing black to a wedding is . . . well, like wearing white in India.  It's the color of mourning.  But, if the bride wants to look like she's going to her funeral on her wedding day. . . it's a free country.  My question was who was putting up the $12,000 for the dress.  If mom, then she gets a vote.  If the bride was footing the bill, then she should get to do as she pleases.

OK, I thought I'd give the new season a try but I'm done. Between the brides with their breasts hanging out to the consultant (Michelle) with her breasts hanging out I am just over it.  I am no prude but come on.  These are wedding dresses, not strip show costumes.  Then throw in Randy's dress with the lace pasties - geez, I thought he had way more taste than that.

The drama was just ridiculous - how much scenery chewing could the black vs white bride do in her segment.   I want to bitch slap both she and her mother.  Although if the mom is ponying up 12 grand, she has a say no matter what her snotty daughter wanted.  She looked like Vampira in the black dress that barely contained the fake boobs.

Both of the Pnina numbers that the consultant bought were horrible.  And talk about fakity-fake when she was supposedly at work and the second dress arrived.  We know that Kleinfeld consultants wear black and she was in a casual light colored sweater.

So that's an hour of my life I'll never get back. But it's the last one I'll waste on this mess.

Pnina assistant - her first dress was so overworked and even worse, was weirdly sheer from the knee down in the front.  And that bejewelled half crown... yikes. I miss the episodes of years long gone where I actually watched this show for the beautiful dresses and sweet stories.

The bling on her second dress was SO tacky and cheap looking.

I didn't really care for her first dress, too much going on. The second was pretty blinged out, sure, but I thought it was much more suited for her.

I think she settled as well, she really wanted the black, but moms played the ultimate guilt-trip card.  I loved the black on her and thought she looked so much happier in it. Speaking of the veils, is that the same assistant that we've seen before? Little Randy Jr in the making, he was adorable!

I thought the black dresses were stunning. They worked with her dark hair, dramatic makeup, and made the color in the tattoos pop. The black lace also fit perfectly with the body art in terms of style. Her white dress made the tats look like dirt and clashed violently.

Much to my chagrin, Ally's dresses were disasters. How could someone that works with wedding dresses all day come up with a dress with a little bit of everything that amounted to a confusing mess that had no style at all? There was no unifying vision. Maybe she sees too many. The bling dress looked like cheap crystals glued on willy nilly on satin. Did anyone else hear Pnina's assistant suggest the second dress was held up at custom? Are they made in China?

I thought the bride who wanted the black dress was there for the drama.  "I want a black dress to match my heart."  Geez.  Get over yourself.

Randy's dresses that they showed didn't impress me at all.  Especially that horrible blue one.

The Pnina assistant's dresses -- neither one impressed me at all.  If Pnina thought this would be good promo for her, I think she could be wrong.  Especially since she didn't deliver the one dress on time.  When the bride was trying on the first dress for her family, did anyone notice the little girl?  She looked like she was having a major pouting fit.  And to add to the class of the wedding, the best man was chewing gum during the ceremony.

I, too, wish for the days when we had normal people shopping for dresses on this show.  Now I feel like everyone considers it an audition.

YES! I totally noticed how she visibly recoiled when the camera panned back to her. I really think the rest were probably hyping her up, but really that dress was too much.

Just started watching; will finish later but here's black dress bitch bride quote:

"I want a black dress, to match my black little heart.  Besides, who wants to be a basic bitch in white?"

... Indeed.

My guess is if she ended up with white as stated here she probably acted this whole thing for the show, which is completely contrived these days.

Lisa: "Who wouldn't want one of these (Randy's) dresses?"  - aside from maybe the second one I saw, hopefully no one.  I've lost my last hope for good taste on this show.

What was up with the owner wearing dad jeans?

Geesh this show & their tacky stripper dresses really sucks.

Maybe I'll finish hate watching it later...

When the show first started, I thought how fun it would be to shop there (even though I would probably never buy there because of the prices).  But these days, I don't think I'd look at dresses there even if I lived next door.  I'm sure there are some nice gowns, but everything presented on the show seems to be tacky, tacky, tacky.

Besides other things, I have issues with the show's continuity. Just last week, I'm pretty sure I heard Randy say his capsule collection was 5 dresses. This week we only saw 3. What happened to the other 2? Were they too modest to make the TV show?

I thought it was fairly humorous that black-dress bride's mother had no objection to her showing all kinds of cleavage as long as the dress was white. And, except for there being a bit too much skin for my taste showing in various places all over the dress (like, see-through at the waist, but then belting it????), I thought the basic dress design was lovely and something we hadn't seen before. I think the bride was definitely using this as her audition for some kind of reality show, though. She was definitely posing in many of her shots.

Finally, my cable channel listed this as a 2-hour SYTTD. I didn't really appreciate having the second hour being a new show. Even though the concept of helping fairly normal people prepare for a wedding is nice, it wasn't the dress porn I was expecting to see. Also, since the specialist said the word "sexy" three times in one minute when he was talking about how he was going to fix up the bride, I was less than happy. And as long as I'm complaining, regardless of how good the practitioner is, I think I'd be more comfortable if a person injecting me with something was wearing something that made him look more like a medical professional and less like some guy off the street in a suit. (But I will also admit that it dawned on me as I typed this that maybe the folks that inject stuff into people's faces do not have to have MDs.) (Which would make me even more uncomfortable.)

I'm not even going to discuss the black dress episode.  It was a total waste of time.  Everything I would have said about it has been covered.

Did the second hour have a title?  I didn't see one.  The bride and groom certainly looked better at the end.  I think the groom made the most dramatic change.  I wish the bride has gotten some of that hair lentgth trimmed.  The problem I see with these makeovers is maintenance.  Who is going to take the time and have the $$ to maintain those upgrades?  Unless your insurance covers botox & fillers, those treatments aren't cheap.  I'm sure the coloring of the bride's hair was a very expensive process too.  This sort of reminded me of What Not To Wear, but this show didn't deal with any of their daily wardrobe.  Let's see them both in a year and see how they have maintained their makeover.

I am still wondering how Pnina bride had sleeves in one scene during the ceremony and the next moment they were completely gone. Did they stop filming in the middle of the ceremony and remove the little sleeves? Would the minister or Priest allow that? I actually thought the super bling dress was kind of pretty but waiting until the reception was half over to change seemed weird to me. Why not just wear it to the entire reception? I don't really understand multiple dresses, too much trouble trying to change and keep your hair and makeup good.

In regard to black dress bride: I wonder what she does for a living to afford a $12,000 dress and did you see the huge rock on her hand? She was beautiful but the whole segment seemed fake. Very disappointed in Randy with the blue pasties dress; he used to have taste.

If you can catch a glimpse of the dresses on the mannequins or some of the other customers, they do have more traditional ones.  I don't know why they aren't shown more often, though.

I don't get it either, but what I really don't understand is why have two wedding dresses?  I'd have had Pnina make a pretty, white (or not) cocktail dress that I'd change into right after the first dance as husband and wife.

Initially my cable guide listed SYTTD and Say Yes: Wedding SOS as two separate programs (when Say Yes: Wedding SOS was first advertised, I set it up to record as a separate show on my DVR). It was only recently (in the past week, I think) the cable guide changed the listing to a 2-hour long SYTTD. When I saw Say Yes: Wedding SOS was gone from my list of "Scheduled Recordings", I initially thought Say Yes: Wedding SOS had been canceled - until I realized SYTTD was showing as a 2-hour recording, instead of just one.

Frankly, I'm annoyed when TLC and Lifetime "tack on" a new program to a well-established one in order to force those who record the first program to record the new program, too - even if they don't want to (yes, there are ways to get around this by setting up a manual recording - IF you know that's what they're doing. But since this is never explained in the program description, it's not always obvious).

I will admit that I did like the second dress’s beading.  The crystals were stunning, but I didn’t care for how tight it looked.  It looked almost like spandex -I know it wasn’t, but it was overly tight.

I would have liked the black heart (oh get over yourself) dress, minus the ridiculous cleavage and peep show aspect.  The all over beadwork was really pretty and different.

I thought he did too. He seems to be infected by Pnina. But the dresses on his website seem a little less hoochie. I wonder if the pasties type are only for Kleinfeld.

He has quite a number that are not see through, so he seems to be trying to appeal to different types.  There were about 10 or so that I thought were beautiful and quite tasteful.  There are others that I think are pretty, but have some see through lace and I wonder if he'd allow a bride to have it lined.

Makes me sad too. He’s been corrupted. Clearly his first priority was to design for Kleinfeld. I wonder if he knew this is the kind of stuff the Kleinfeld bride wants. Since it seems to be working for Pnina.

That black dress woman was the most obnoxious, nasty bitch, who’s so full of herself.  If I would have walked out and said to my mom, “This is my dress, woman”, I would have been slapped from here to heaven.  She’s supposed to be this hot, sophisticated chick, but she has a My Little Pony tattoo and those black anklets were so high fashion.

The Pnina gowns were butt ugly.  Imho, not a good advertisement for Pnina.

I can tell you that our church would never allow those stripper dresses.

Much of Randy's stuff looks like what you can find at David's Bridal, for half the price . . . and twice the material up top.  :)

Has anyone attended weddings recently?  Are many brides (beyond what we see on the show) actually wearing these tacky, see-through, cleavage-showing dresses?  As a guest, I'd be embarrassed for the bride, but maybe I'm a prude.

One thing that struck me about the Pnina Consultant's first gown was that the sheer bottom part seemed to start above the top of her legs, or right at the top of her legs.  Pnina had a piece of lace strategically placed over the hoo-hah.  (Otherwise, this dress would have created a new standard for "Stripper Fairy Dresses".)  For a dress that was so over-done you would think the lady parts could have been covered with actual fabric and not a square of lace that basically said:  "Yes!  The hoo-hah IS covered!  Sorta!"  The second dress was so tight that she could hardly walk in it, could not dance in it, and definitely could not sit down in it without splitting the fabric.  I think both dresses were fails.  Finally, I don't believe for a minute that Pnina did not clear the designs with the bride before making them.

Whenever I see the Pnina gowns with the huge crystals on them, I think they look terrible.  They look like they belong on a stage, where they could be seen by the audience, but up close they're hideous.

I think David’s Bridal stuff is much nicer than Randy’s stuff for the most part. At least most of the stuff there is appropriate and doesn’t require a mortgage to pay for it.

If Pnina offered to design a dress for me, I'd run screaming in the other direction.

I thought the first "surprise" dress for the boutique assistant looked like a white sausage casing with a ruffle explosion on the bottom.

And dress #2 is (somehow) even worse. What a tacky, gaudy monstrosity.

Bolding mine:  She was horrid.  Calling her friends "bitches" was really mean.  Her tattoos were disgusting (I don't care about tattoos, her were over the top) and she looked like a character out of a Tim Burton movie in that black dress and veil

When this show began, it was a cute little show that had normal women shopping for wedding dresses.  Midway through its run it evolved into "The Pnina Show", where most dresses featured were by Pnina Tornai (my opinion - overpriced and tacky, and where the term "stripper fairy dress" was coined).  The last couple seasons of this show have really gone down hill, seems TLC is trying to go for "drah-ma", showing classless brides and their wacky entourages instead of dresses.  I really have to pick and choose which episodes, if any, I will take the time to watch.  If it's an hour-long special episode, I usually won't watch it, because those are usually the worst.

Well said.

The mere process of trying to choose a dress, stay within budget, and get your mother/sister/whomever to agree that it looks okay is drama enough for most.

IMHO, there's a not-too-fine line b/t looking sexy and looking like a sl--.  I don't know where brides today get the idea that they need to wear their honeymoon night look on their wedding day.  Or that anyone other than their DH wants to see it.
