Episode Discussion: TFGH

Wow, Ned hasn't been married since Katherine/Lois?  And then there was the failed engagement to Alexis, then Skye briefly (and grossly), and then...nothing 'til Olivia?

Poor Ned.

ETA...oops, I forgot Alexis's sister, that was his pairing between Alexis and Skye.

An old time-y bathtub?! It's like they WANT us to make jokes about cousin-loving and Michael glimpsing her bewitching ankle from beneath her petticoat. And I never noticed how much Nelle smacks her mouth till now. Between that and Michael nibbling at his lower lip, it reminded me of Garth and his girlfriend from Wayne's World making googly-eyes at each other.

I don't think Ned and Dante are an ignored bond/connection. When would they really hang out? Maybe in off-screen GH they could have hung out at some gathering at Olivia's but even on off-screen GH Ned and Olivia have been keeping their relationship on the down low. The problem was there should have been some awkwardness in the scene between them.

I wasn't looking at the screen and I thought Carly was the one who was all "woo hoo can I get in on that action" and I grumbled, and then I saw it was Robin. Woops.

I love how they teleport between scenes most of the time but now that Sam and Olivia J are in the car together Sam seems to live an hour away from the hospital.

Imma need Nelle to be revealed as AJ's daughter, because Michael/Nelle are a black hole where chemistry goes to die.* But before that happens, I need her to step her game waaaay the fuck up.

*Gets angry all over again that the actual chemistry that JMB/NP had was completely wasted because of TG's stupid issues while the bland sandwich that is Nelle/Michael continues to get screentime.

Olivia's hair in that flashback was hilarious. Oh, '80s, you so funny!

Ugh, more whinging from Sonny about sleeping with Nelle. Gah. It's all of his own making! Why am I supposed to feel sorry for him?

Double ugh to Jordan for blaming all her woes on Curtis. I'm pretty sure he didn't force her to kiss him. And André is a grownup: What he does is on him.

Michael and Nelle are unbelievably boring. Duller than dull.

This show is so bad at showing familial bonds, that Dante sat down with Ned and I though, "How do these two know each other again?".  Took me a minute to remember that one is dating the other's mother.  Eeesh.  Or maybe I just have a bad memory!!

I couldn't figure out at first why the hell they would be speaking to each other either. But I do, in fact, have a terrible memory when it comes to this show so that might be why!

Really though. It's embarrassing.

BM was even doing his I wanna kill you/5 year old child grin when he hugged Robin. I'm starting to think that's unfortunately just how his smile looks. I enjoy thinking of him actually wanting to murder everyone because he hates his job so much though!

This episode wasn't terrible, I guess. But I did skip quite a bit of it so.

Her hair in these flashbacks is indeed hilarious slash awesome, I love it.

And honestly, despite the stupid story, I think Tonja Walker's been doing a good job.

Same here. She's a classic soap baddie, even if it's terribly written and poorly paced.

Olivia F getting miffed that Ned sort of walked back the proposal was so stupid.

I freaking loved the flashbacks of Robin/Olivia. It reminds me of what soaps can do that other shows will never be able to accomplish.

Mo always has the most genuine smile  in scenes with KMc. Sonny just always looks so happy and nostalgic when Robin or Robin/Jason are around him.

When Mr. Moving and I saw Olivia's '80s hair, he asked me how us women got our hair so big.  My answer big curlers and LOTS of Aquanet hairspray,  My sister and I used so much Aquanet that it left a residue on our vanity.  As bad as '80s hair got, it was better than the "mall wall" bang of the '90s.

If you can accept that there's a wormhole that usually links most people in Port Charles with wherever they want to go, it's not much of a stretch to believe that there's only one road in town, and that no matter where you want to go, not only is it always on the other side of town, but you'll have to drive down the stretch of that road that narrows to one lane,  on a dangerous curve, by a cliff, at night.

I know right!  That was just gross.  Also I live in the country and when we lose power our well pump goes off, therefore, there is only enough COLD water in the pipes for one flush of the toilet.  (Thank god we have a generator.)  They would have been better off getting out of their wet clothes, cover up in blankets and sit their asses down by the fire.  That can be very romantic.  Sharing dirty lukewarm/cold bathwater is not romantic.

Kimberly McC really lit up when she saw MB but was just acting when she saw BM. It must be hard to come in for a visit and act with a legacy character like she had with Billy Miller. It was a throwaway scene but it just didn't work because it wasn't SB. I like Olivia jerking Julian around but she's turning into another Heather Webber loony toon. What is about turning 80's straight villains into comic crazy people. Is it that hard to write for a female villain from the 80's/90's?

A "NO SERVICE!" reprise would have guaranteed I watched every minute of this show until it gets canceled, even if SWSNBN rose from the dead and entered into a Latter-day Saints arrangement with Jason and Sam, and the three of them were on every day asserting their superiority.

Quote

When Robin mentioned Olivia Jerome and how awful she was, you could see the gears in Sonny's brain slowly moving. You can figure this out Sonny, I believe in you!

Other news: There's nothing wrong with an older man/younger woman relationship on a soap, but I feel as though the show wants us to think Ned and Olivia are around the same age, and sorry, no. The attempts to make Kurth look perennially fortysomething actually make it worse. He's pushing 60. Also, talk about a treading-water character. Poor Ned. Stuck in one gear since the 1990s.

I like Michael and Nelle's scenes, and don't care if I'm all on my own.  :-)

Trying to figure out the point of giving Anna polycythemia vera.  Is it a cause dear to someone who works on the show? How is this going to work? Are they going to occasionally have Anna mention that she will meet someone right after her phlebotomy? Or she's being kept prisoner, and it will be suspense that she could have a stroke if she doesn't get to an appointment? It just seems limiting. Some kind of cancer that would go into convenient remission would have been better for soap action-heroine purposes.

Was she played as a serious villain all the though? I saw some clips where she was pretending to have the mental state of her 5 year old self to get out of a crime. It was a cheese sandwhich.

MB usually is his best around KimMcC but I thought he seemed his usual self with her today.

I was just kidding in an earlier post when I predicted that Sonnyness would soon have its global impact on the entirely unrelated story of Anna's blood disease. Yet bingo! Robin ran into Sonny chatting with Jason, and soon Robin and Sonny's heads were together in earnest discussion about Anna's plight. Yes folks, Anna's cancer was giving Sonny a chance to soothe Robin, reminding all of us of his selfless love of AIDS-stricken Stone, Robin's old boyfriend.

This time I DID throw up in my mouth.

Why is a genius doctor spending any time at all in the company of a mumbling murderer-scumbag like Sonny Corinthos? How long does his ancient awkward "Attaboy" to Stone mark Sonny as Port Charles's Wise Philosopher and Whirling Dervish of Healing Chakras?

Sonny has no wisdom to impart, and no blessings and healing to give.

Hey, you snooze, you lose.

Usually/often an engagement ring is passed down in the male line.

Not by folks that I know. Daughters get their mother's personal goods. Sons usually got their father's personal stuff. Unless items were specifically tagged for certain people. If a woman only had a son(s) I can see it happen. Since Tracy doesn’t have a daughter,  I can really see her holding on to the family jewelry for Brook-Lyn and any other female grandchild Ned or Dillon have. If Emily was alive, perhaps. But she would've most like have been gifted jewelry from Lila herself if she had lived. Any AJ /Jason spawn? Not sure if Tracy would be too generous with them. If Alan was alive, sure. He could bully/guilt her into giving them something of Lila's.

It would be interesting to see if Tracy would leave Lulu anything. As she became her insta daughter for years. Not that the show has bothered to have Lulu or Tracy remember that they are supposed to be close. So Tracy should be a sounding board for Lulu, along with Laura and Maxie. Which could parlay into a Laura v. Tracy tiff over Lulu and the hospital's future. But could be very soapy and dramatic.  Who wants that on a soap opera?

I liked the scene of falling snow outside the cabin and the foggy bluish atmosphere.

Nelle and Michael stripping down and bathing was not realistic, especially since they have zero chemistry. If they lost the power completely, wouldn't they be freezing instead of toasty outside the bathwater?

I rewatched Baby!Robin, and  remarked how much KMc looked like Brooklyn Rae does. They cast well for Emma.

I guess Michael and Nelle had to share bath water because there was no grave of Morgan's to fuck over.

Julian *sigh*... two words.... "Suicide Bomber". Quote a bit of Melville, or even Randy Quaid from ID4: "Hello, Sis! I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCKKKK!"

FF'd through Jordan being mansplained about Baltimore.

I'll pull up a seat at my table for one, but I am very much enjoying these two actors and look forward to their scenes.  It is the ONLY thing about any Corinthos storyline that doesn't make me rue the day that Sonny and his family has slimed it's way to replace the Q's as this show's centerpiece.

Michael and Nelle could be sweet, but CD always seems so uncomfortable in any scenes approaching romantic in nature. And since we still don't know what Nelle is planning or why, there's no suspense to their scenes together, so those two are a giant jar of mayonnaise for me. Generic mayonnaise.

If Jelly wanted to put wet drip with Michael they probably shouldn't have had her drug his father, get him naked, and manipulate him into thinking he cheated on Michael's mother. I'm thinking he'll have an issue with that.

Also, the jar of mayo comparison is already being used for Dillon/Kiki. Michael/Nelly deserve their own comparison. How about...Michael/Nelly are more stale than two month old moldy bread

I don't want twins though. I want Nelle to have been fucking with Michael because she had a happy normal childhood with AJ and Michael spent half his childhood in a coma. Then I want her to join the Q orbit and ask for Tracy's help stomping on Carly's life while she undermines Michael at work because she actually went to business school

Maybe but it was also a sponsored storyline from a drug company. Anything to make money on a low rated show?

How many hours would it take to melt snow to heat that much water?  Wouldn't you be too pooped to "lovingly" gaze at each other?

but I really don't wanna watch an "Anna has cancer" story right now. Like I wanna just escape the real shitty stuff in life these days and especially on this soap.

Peace, much love, and healing vibes to those who are trying to deal with it or are caring for a loved one with it.  My prayers are with you.

Eh. Soaps were originated as product placement vehicles, weren't they? I'm not going to complain about a hospital story that allows Anna to talk about something other than Julian

Plus, having a pharmaceutical company as the sponsor might ensure that the story is actually well researched. That would be a nice change

I don't like a particular drug being pushed, regardless of its purpose. There's something slimy about that, IMO. It's not the Citrus Growers of America sponsoring showing orange juice in every morning scene.

"Papa Jerome got around," says the man who has children with four different women. Shut up, Sonny. Gold star to Jason for suspecting Liv. It's a shame Sonny's too dumb to listen to him.

The only thing I have to say about the hospital stuff is that it's nice that the women are in charge of handling and implementing the plan.

Nelle can't ever drop the heinous attitude, can she? Always the wronged party, always miserable. I wish Michael had pushed her ass out into the snow. She's ice cold anyway, I'm sure she'd feel right at home out there.

I think the snow melting would be fairly quick . . . actually getting hot enough for a bath I think would take a while though.

Sonny so desperately always needs Ava to be the guilty party, even when she's miraculously not.  Of course, when the tables are turned and he's done something wrong it's only to protect 'my family'/'my business'/'my friends'/commercial break.

I love Carly's coat, even with the nutty fringe hem. Maybe because of the nutty fringe hem.

Nelle can shut up too. "Boo-hoo, I've had such a hard life and I'll never be happy." Zzzzzz.

I dunno...Carly's coat looked soooooooo much like the baby blanket that Monica dug out of the attic and presented to Jason for his baby. Same dull gray with a couple of horizontal and vertical stripes, like Carly's coat. Do y'all think the props dept is having to save money by using the same garment for both items?

Sam's prenatal vitamins must be softening her  brain. Why would a seasoned PI/detective fall for Liv's trick of a stalled car and then let Liv DRIVE Sam's car when it got restarted, putting Liv in charge? Sam acted like a five-year-old child who got into a bad person's car and wants her mommy now. And Liv is almost as stupid, pulling a gun on Sam instead of keeping her cover intact to serve as Alexis's sponsor at AA. Liv is certainly crazy, and Sam is just pathetic, not even thinking about the risks to her baby..

Eh. Ava switched Morgan's meds. She replaced the meds of a person with a severe mental disorder with sugar pills. That was incredibly heinous. She knew that he was going off the rails because she saw him the day that he died - and she was the only person who knew exactly what was wrong with him.

She is responsible for what happened to him. She may not have intended for him to die but she intended to do harm. Olivia's involvement is actually accidental.

The only difference between this and AJ's murder was that Ava was actively trying to get AJ killed
