Why hasn't Sonny hired a professional caretaker for Mike?  How many times has Mike gone missing since he returned to live in Port Charles, and Sonny still has not made arrangements to have someone whose only job is to look after Mike.  He has plenty of money to do this.  Trying to guard your mob/murder secrets is no excuse for being so negligent.

This.  They have a nanny for Avery yet they won't bring in someone for Mike?  I know it's because of story and Sonny's pain or whatever, but even if it's off screen, Mike should have a caregiver. I'm waiting for Sonny one day to say he put Milo on Mike detail.

Okay, I'm strategically FFing through the foolishness, trying to enjoy Robert without actually listening to whatever son of Faison garbage Anna is saying, when my eyes are attacked by that monstrosity of a sofa in Anna's hotel suite. It is one of the ugliest pieces of furniture I've ever seen. And the horrendous giant throw pillows with the silver design? Why??? Why is Robert in there with those awful furnishings distracting me from him? Trying to see Robert I move past Nelle perfuming the air in a graveyard and a tombstone! Then I see JaSam waving beer bottles around and putting them down on a wooden coffee table minus coasters (big no no in my mom's house). Why am I being challenged by bad writing and awful set decoration?

Also, in the gaslight story who am I suppose to root for? What is the desired outcome? Carly's obnoxious and Nelle is too stupid to be a credible anything, character, villain, human being. Just make them stop taking time away from Robert.

Good to see you Epiphany. Come again soon.

I was hoping we'd get a scene where Lauren tells Pip about Dr. Bensch creeping on her, and does Pip have any advice? Instead, we get a scene that could have been handled by a day player. Not that I wasn't glad to see Sonya Eddy.

I kinda sorta understood this failing of Sonny's...he is so paranoid of what his poor dad might say about the past that he won't hire anyone to look our for the old man. So naturally his dad quickly got lost. Sonny's paranoia supports his stupidity and lack of compassion.

The whole "I don't wanna call the police because then Ava will find out and try to use it against me."  Oh, you mean like you use every breath she takes as reason to keep Avery away from her, you asshole?  God, can the show stop pretending he's Father of the Year now?  It's all about winning for him.

It needed to be burned.  It looked like an oversized whoopee cushion.  Even Anna couldn't pull off dignified sitting on it.

I'm still puzzled as to why Sam needed ice, other than an excuse to roam the hallways.  And could she please wear something that doesn't look like the top half of long johns?

I shudder at the thought of the Nurses' Ball.  The horror.

I wonder if Sonny would have called the police if Ava had simply ran away from the nanny or had been taken by a non-Mike stranger, or would he still hate Ava more than he cares about girlchild?

Well Pip only offered a disapproving silence when the Keeks questioned her about scheduling the first shadow rotation with Dr Bensch. PIp seemed to be communicating that they should not question whatever the docs' wishes were for that shadow program. So I understood why Keeks might not feel comfortable confiding much more in Pip.

So very lame. Sam has enough bucks to fly to Switzerland on little notice and bring 2 kids too and stay in a posh hotel and yet has to go looking for free ice in the halls. She would call room service and stay with the children if she had half a brain. What if Danny wakes up and finds Mama missing and he is in a strange place he doesn't recognize? And does she have special written permission from Drew to take Scout out of the country, with either the kids on her passport or they have separate passports already?

Then when she did return to the room with Jason in tow, what did they drink? Apparently warm beer. She didn't want the ice for drinks, and the beer had become warm. And apparently she was planning on drinking BEER alone in Switzerland while her kids slept. Did she or Jason ever take a sip?

I thought the fact that they pulled Pif out of the closet for that scene, meant Kiki would confide in her, but nope.  Looks like Kiki will keep quiet and Bench will take advantage of her silence.

Where does one buy disapearing/invisible ink?  And how long does it last before it disapears, because Nelle wrote the note while Carly was at her appointment, then Carly found the note and figured it meant the cemetary and was there for awhile before Chase showed up and the ink disapeared.  Would have sucked for Nelle's plan if Carly had been delayed at any time and found the menu after the ink had disapeared.  Yes, I've thought about it too long!!

Yeah, but I give a little leeway on professional duties on these shows. Griffin is allegedly a neurosurgeon, and you would look far and wide before you'd find a neurosurgeon who would sit and listen to Carly's entire tale of woe going back almost a quarter century.  He'd never even see her unless/until there were something to cut, and her present awful hair doesn't count. But they've maneuvered Griffin into some kind of "all things brain" doctoring role to get him into this story and the one about Mike, and I'm okay with it. Same with the detectives. Chase, Dante, and Jordan are our speaking-part cops at present. If Chase keeps talking to Carly as if she's in the slow class and maybe drunk in the bargain, I hope he's in lots more scenes with her.

I'm sure the kids will be fine in the five minutes or so it takes her to get ice.  What's the big deal?  Why would you call room service for anything you can do yourself.  And, yes, in the real world, the kids would have to have passports and she would have to have their birth certifcates showing the fathers' names, along with written and notarized permission from them that they could leave the country.

I can't believe they're still doing the Nurses Ball. The actors hate it and it costs a bunch of money. (Well, all the actors except James Patrick Stuart, who said he pitched an idea to Frank this year.)

Except he does expect help from the police when he calls them. Because if Sonny Corinthos needs the police, then it has to be for a good reason.

Do American citizens need that for the American citizen children? (And as a side note, what if the fathers aren't involved in their kids' lives? I mean from a legal persepective, not in a Jason Morgan way.)

I know they're trying to mimic the #metoo movement, but with Lauren socially and professionally being anvilled into "This is the Bestest Program EVAH!!!" and "If you even THINK about stepping away from it, especially not shadowing Dr. Creepy (that we don't know if Dr. Creepy), your live with be RUINED! I think just the opposite: it's a great example of how this kind of harassment works.  Bensch is setting Kiki up to doubt herself, to make her think she's overreacting, so when he inevitably tries something again and she does say something?  He'll "if she really had a problem, why did she continue to let me mentor her?" up the ying yang.

Especially since Carly refused to hand over Avery to Ava because she had a medical appointment which Sonny told her to get. Although I expect Sonny and Carly to blame Avery's disappearance with Mike on Ava because (here me out, this is S&C Logic!) Ava killed Morgan, and if Morgan wasn't killed by Ava, then Carly wouldn't have gone to his grave and not be with Avery.

However

Spoiler

it looks like Sonny (and Carly) and Ava will work together to find Avery and Mike. How this will go for the future custody posturing, I don't know.

You have that point. The issue I have is emphasis on the high-visibility of the program by the chorus of nurses, not to mention that it looks like Dr. Creepy was the nexus and sole reason she got into the program. So when the inevitable issue with Dr. Creepy comes out, Lauren will be slut-shamed. Real life counterparts? Yep. Do I trust Show to treat it wisely and deftly? Not so far.

Yes, Americans need that for their American children.  As opposed to the letters from the fathers, you could also produce the father's death certificate, or a court document showing that you have sole custody.  But, you have to have some kind of proof that you are not trying to kidnap your child away from the other parent as the government doesn't want to have to try to get involved in international custody disputes.

A certain number of daily episodes seem to exist to repeat the major stories without advancing them much. Yesterday we had flashbacks to that stupid discussion about Morgan's cologne (where Ava calls him both naive yet surprisingly sophisticated, LOL) so that we'd understand why Carly smelled something familiar in the graveyard, as if seeing Nelle drench the area wasn't clear enough.

I get that soaps have to be accessible to the occasional and the regular watcher, but I don't think spoon-feeding plot is the way to go.

Whose bright idea was it to put the beer bottle props in those scenes with JaSam? Don't they seem entirely superfluous and awkward? The actors handle the bottles extensively (thereby warming the beer up inside if it was ever cool in the first place). The bottles are awkwardly put down on the furniture and then apparently picked up again, but no one is ever seen drinking from them until the very end when Sam takes a big gulp of the warm/now hot beer.

And so why did she get the ice?

So irritating and without purpose.

And another thing... JaSam are supposed to be running into each other by chance in Bern, Switzerland? I've been in Bern. A nice place, but it would be far more likely that they would have run into one another in Zurich, where everybody goes.

And why were the walls of Anna's Swiss hotel room  decorated with the molding patterns of Carly's home walls in Port Charles? What a coincidence!

It won't do anything for custody, I'm sure. If Sonny could blackmail Ava into full custody when Ava was originally the custodial parent despite everything he has done, Avery being taken on a walk by her memory-addled grandfather won't make a bit of difference.

Didn't Sonny already do that, basically, when Ava dared to demand one overnight with Avery (that turned into a freaking earthquake and Sonny wouldn't let her have more time) in exchange for not pressing charges against Mike for destruction of property? That Sonny never offered to pay for, I'm sure.

This could just be the nostalgia talking, but I used to like it because, as I recall, the actors and actresses used to actually have real talent. Wally Kurth, for example, can actually sing and I remember him doing a rendition of Forever Young (with Amber Tamblyn, I think) that was good.  Or when Jack Wagoner or Rick Springfield would perform, I liked it.  I do remember Steve Burton actually having an amusing skit where he was a cop and AJ was playing various big screen villains that was funny but heaven knows we can't have Jason be a funny guy now.

And BINGO! They're clearly not willing to commit to making Drew some secret evil bad guy (at least not yet. That might change with different writers or sometime down the road) but they have to do something to make him seem like the less desirable option against St. Jason. So the answer is to make him seem like a completely insecure, irrational, raging asshole to Jason while Jason treats him politely. Because it's not like St. Jason will ever engage in such menial emotions as jealousy and insecurity. "Stone Cold" is above that stuff.

Yeah they need to do that to make Drew semi-unlikable next to Jason because the fact is in many ways it's the opposite. As someone else noted, Billy Miller has a natural warmth that comes through in scenes with his onscreen love interests, children and even characters like Franco and that allows him to be likable and warm in a way Jason is simply not. I mean consider Drew's scenes with Monica, even when he still thought he was Jason.

There was more warmth between those two than Jason has ever had with Monica since he got brain damaged. Even in the latter years when he was more cordial to the family, there was always a coldness between them. So they have to make Drew antagonistic and rude to Jason so they can continue to peddle the bullshit rewrite about his supposedly being controlling with Sam and her not being herself with him because she's oh so afraid to be. Whatever...

Personally, as long as the only person Drew continues to be an asshole to is Jason, I will continue to like the character just fine. I mean it's not like there aren't enough people kissing Jason's ass.

The whole thing would actually make sense to me if Drew had been portrayed as self-loathing when he realized as "Jason" that he was a mob hit man.  The evolution of leaving that life and going into legitimate business (even though the mob money was used to obtain that life) would have been this triumph of living a clean, honest life.  And then when he realizes that was mostly never him because he was actually Drew, he would naturally have projected that former self-loathing onto the person who had truly earned it - Jason.

I've liked quite a few of the numbers since they brought it back.  Emma can do no wrong in my eyes when it comes to the Nurses Ball.  I liked the Pink song that Kiki did.  I like Dear Future Husband that Sabrina, Maxie, etc, were in.  And Wally Kurth has still been great.  Do I like all the numbers?  No.  But, I don't think I liked all the numbers back before they got rid of it.

That said, I don't really care if they have the Nurses' Ball or not.  What I would like them to bring back is that thing they did where they would draw names of who they had to eat with on that one night.  That was always interesting.

I think Alexis has it wrong with Sam.  Jason is not dragging Sam back into the mob.  Sam misses that dangerous lifestyle and that's why she's being drawn to Jason.  She's more at home in that life than as a media mogul.  She prefers the t-shirts/jeans/beer over dress clothes/office/champagne.

Yeah, I'm pretty much done trying to decipher Sam's headspace, because her inconsistencies are giving me a headache. She spent all of 2017 crying over Jason/Drew's involvement with Sonny and the risk it posed to her family, and now she's in a foreign country dumping her two young kids on her mother so she can play detective with Jason and Spinelli. I guess it's supposed to be cool because she "feels like herself" and is "less suffocated," but I am not one bit endeared by her behavior. And that hubris Sam expressed about how she/Jason/Spinelli don't get caught was not a good look on her. She's talking to Alexis like she's some rebellious teenager breaking all the rules, but this is a grown woman prioritizing an adrenaline rush from illegal activity over her kids, and that doesn't sit right with me.

Yeah, we're supposed to see her and Jason as this "meant to be" couple who values danger over everything else--but it's OK because they "don't get caught."  Except for the dozens of times Jason's been arrested.  But, again, OK because mob shill Diane always gets him off.  Drew's just the BIG BAD who had the gall to want Sam to value her life and the lives of her children more than the rush that doing something illegal brings.  How dare he!

In other news, I'm not sure if we're supposed to believe her or not, but I liked what Kim said about having not known Drew for, like, a decade and that she's having fun with the guy right in front of her and there's no need to go back to Drew just because he's there.

I've been sitting on this thought for a while, but...I kinda like Kim.  I really thought, as a former Carly, we'd be choking on Tamara Braun.  But they've been pretty restrained with that, they've mixed her in with new people, I dunno.

I may have missed something, but when was that story told? I thought it was Sam herself who had the "epiphany" or "the sickness" (whatever the show wants to call it) and feared that NuJason would forever be Sonny's, resulting in her shooting Sonny. That is when NuJason decided to choose Sam and the family. Drew wasn't the one who was begging Sam to value her life.

Sam is also saying she hasn't been herself, even if she's not outwardly saying Drew's name. But she's not talking about it in terms of her own safety or her kids safety. She worked as a private investigator. That was her job, that's what she was familiar with. Regardless, this all stinks of rewrites and reworking of a story in order to keep going back-and-forth with JaSam and Sam/Drew.

So what does Ellie think of all this gallivanting to Switzerland and beyond that Spinelli's been doing?

I wonder about that too.

The stupidity of the writers to simply ignore all the history that has gone on with the character so that they can make Spin be dirtbag Jason and his ride/die ho Sam's bestie again.  It reeks.
