Episode Discussion: TFGH

Again, I'm not talking about the current story, I'm talking about an endgame scenario that you spent the last few months of the show's life building to. Stone's dead, Jason would be with Sam, so yeah, Patrick would be the obvious choice.

I understand! I know I'm in the minority on this. I don't think Robin has to end up with any guy to have a happy ending. Or maybe I've been so crapped on by this show that I just want her unchained, lol.

GH still doesn't do cast integration very well. Even at something like the Nurses Ball, not all the characters are there for the whole time.

Particularly this year, which had several notable absences (i.e. all the vets).

There's still Casey, I suppose.

I'll take Casey over Patrick any day. They could bring back the actor that Played Dr. T. Jackson. He and KMc had chemistry, IMO. Robin deserves better than Patrick.

That AMC clip shows what GH is missing. Multiple familes. We also dont see the multiple generations within families. Friends/enemies that grew up together on the show. I saw AMC as a child/kid when i visited my grandparents because an Aunt came home for lunch every day in order to watch the show. I still love Angie and Jesse to this day. Angie, Tad and Liza bring back so many memories for me.

Current GH just brings up bile. Crypt sex, serial killers/rapists, kidnappers, women ripping a baby out if a woman's womb, etc. Also, bad is good and good is bad. AJ is horrible because he's a fat drunk. Sonny the mobster only kills to protect his family, blech.

Random thought:  Since Delia/Roxy very clearly lied about "Denise" being a twin of Ava, can they please lock her up for accessory to murder after the fact, fraud, and obstructing a police investigation?  I mean, all off screen of course.  But I don't want to have to worry about that walking malapropism bomb being on screen ever again.

I had forgotten how young looking MB was when he joined GH. Also, LW looked really young too but she hasn't been on nearly as long. They were nice flashbacks. Somehow, I thought LW's Carly spent more time with Jax but it looks like she & MB have working together a long time. Also, did Carly own Elizabeth's house first? It looked like the same staircase and set. When exactly did MB & LW start with GH? All in all, not a bad episode.

Carly's old house looks very similar to Liz's house, but I don't think its the same set. I think Carly was living in that house, during the same time Liz has lived in her house.

I'm not sure when MB started on GH, but LW was 2005 or 06. It was whenever GH did the train wreck sweeps, and Robin came back.

MissE...Thanks. I had forgotten about the train wreck. I don't even think LW had any lines her first day on the train but I could be wrong. Almost, 10 years for LW. I didn't think it had been that long. Wow! Time does fly.

I wish Ric had just shot Nina and Franco in the face and saved us all. Then went to the hospital and held a pillow over Sonny's face.

I wish Morgan had a psychotic break and held the pillow over Sonny's face.

For karma.

I think they repainted Carly's old house gray and made it the Spencer childhood home.

You're welcome, and yeah I think we just saw her on the train. I can't even remember why Carly had been away, but I think it had been some time since we had seen her. Her first scenes might have been with Robin.

Carly was leaving Ferncilff or whatever mental hospital she was staying at after her breakdown of losing Michael (when AJ faked his death) and then losing Sonny. She checked herself out quite easily. Carly was away for only a few months (while GH recasted Jennifer with Laura Wright).

That's right! I had totally forgotten about Jennifer's Carly. At this point, LW has been the longest running Carly, right?

Sam's quavery voice is on my last nerve. Close my eyes and it sounds like she is her own great-grandmother....her black clothes are getting on my nerves too. She seems more and more witchlike, and not in a good way.

And Elizabeth's finally trying to be honest and tell Jakeson her selfish secret, but she's approaching the project like a tiny little girl who must confess to Daddy and is very afraid of him. I've always wondered if that tiny body is a way to stay childlike, for the actress and for the character.

Random question, but in real life, Dante wouldn't be considered Sonny's closest relative, and thus entrusted with medical decisions, would he, if Sonny was never officially named as his father, right? It would be either be Michael or Mike (did Michael ever officially de-adopt himself? Is that a thing?)

I don't know if Sonny in any way ever legally claimed Dante. That said, Michael did not -- as far as I know -- sever Sonny's adoption of him. He just legally changed his surname back to Quartermaine, and yelled, "You're not my father," a lot. So, in other words, as far as I know, Michael never legally made Sonny his not-father. He just threw off his name and yelled a lot.

I'm actually shocked that the writers know that neurosurgeons operate on the spine. It's the only thing they've done right recently. That, and Julian mocking Morgan and telling Dante he's a cheater like his father.

I must have been playing computer games (what? It's a coping strategy) during this scene, but how/why did Julien think Dante is a cheater? Upon what did he base these accusations?

If they went the Scummy unconscious hallucination route and showed him in Hell - NOT Heaven - being tormented by all the other murderers he murdered, I would watch that. And then they have Sonny wake up, ask to see Anna, and tells her he wants to come in from the cold and leave the mob. And take down the 5 families with him. I would watch that and try extra extra hard not to hate Scummy with the heat of a thousand nuns.

I would watch the heck out of that.

But while Jakeson is a passive douche, Liz can EASILY end this: Take Jake aside and say, "Uh, yeah, hi. You're Jason Morgan, the holiest of hitmen!" She hasn't. Because Jake not knowing benefits HER little fantasy of a family with Zombie Jake, her poor forgotten two other kids, and her. In her deepest part, Liz probably knows Jason has always chosen other women and Sonny and Carly over her: Courtney, Sam. Liz is the backup.

So the only way she can have her delusion is making damn sure her lie doesn't get exposed. And counting on that Jakeson's memory doesn't come back.

The ultimate responsibility for Jakeson knowing who the hell he is does fall on him, and his lazy ass deserves this because he can't DO SOMETHING. But just because Liz's offenses are by omission or whatever does not make her less culpable either. She was so quick to rail on Ric for his misdeeds. Well, let's hope Sam (whom I really don't even care about, or JaSam, but it is the principle here) gets the same opportunity.

If Liz is a big girl enough to start this lie rolling, she had better make damned sure she is ready to accept the fallout. And Nik needs a hefty slice of comeuppance, too.

My wish (which can never come true) is that Liz wouldn't find out Jake=Jason, until after he asked her to marry him, and until after the mob wars broke big. I don't need Liz to be perfect, but I do need her to be rootable. If she didn't know Jake = Jason until now, after he'd asked her to marry her, and after her children had bonded with him, and after it was clear we're in the middle of a mob war, I could have found her story more complex and relatable.

I don't think MB/Sonny are as unpopular as they are here. But nor do I think, after 15 years of growing worse and worse, are they the solution to lowering ratings like the showrunners seem to think.

I still don't think Mo is the problem. I think the mob (and the waffly way it is written) is the problem.

Your spell check is coming up with interesting ways of writing "Brytni" ;)

Brytni's parents' spellcheck came up with interesting ways to write her name, too.

I'm sad I didn't remember Emily.

"I'm happy I don't remember Emily [and Sonny]."

There. I fixed it for you.

AWAT did a pretty good job of ushering the characters off on a high note. I have no such feeling about the current GH trajectory

What is "AWAT?" Did you mean ATWT (i.e. As the World Turns)?

There's still Casey, I suppose.

The alien?

I love that they had the entire cast gathered for AMC's last scene. GH still doesn't do cast integration very well. Even at something like the Nurses Ball, not all the characters are there for the whole time.

This block taping has to go. I understand it saves money, but it screws up the storylines worse than they already are.

Yeah, someone goes to the bathroom at the nurses ball and then returns in another episode. I guess you have to save money somehow, right? I did enjoy comatose Sonny but then he had to show up as hospital chapel ghost. Jeez! We just can't catch a break.

Morgan is getting on my nerves. I wish Patrick would clock him already. Morgan would you please STFU!

I was glad Nina set Nic straight but I wanted her to ask him if he felt any guilt at all. Any remorse? He has mommy issues, right? Now, who will Ric terrorize? All the woman are taken.

Link to comment

I know that storyline well. No, that didn't happen.

Although Anna did tell Casey what sex was.

So, yes, it would still be creepy.

Casey the Alien was Robin's friend and Anna told him about sex even though he appeared to be a human adult male. Then Casey's Earth Twin Shep showed up and Anna had sex with him.

Link to comment

If only he showed up behind her and re-read his "I want the smell of you out of my house" speech. That would have been more true to form.

To this day, that was the best burn I've ever heard on daytime television. Kudos to the writer who came up with it, and kudos to MB for his delivery. I loved Sonny in that moment.

Shep Casey was definitely brought in to be Anna's love interest. But it never got past the antagonistic stage. They never even kissed.

Shep hooked up with Cheryl. And Anna went on a couple dates with Edge. But the only two men Anna ever slept with on GH during her first six-year run were Duke and Robert.

At this point, I'm partial to the idea that she has met and been rescued by Jax.  Anna and Emma know, and Jax has been arranging weekend sleepovers for Robin and Emma while Patrick thinks she's at a friends.

Look, this is more realistic than Carly entering a chapel and not having it instantly erupt in flames.

Girlfriend in a Coma by The Smiths?

(Sorry, low hanging fruit.)

So much nicer than my guesses.

Speaking of the awesome Mr. Jacks...has he officially gotten sole custody of Joss?  I'm on the barge and am curious to know if Carly has mentioned her flesh and blood daughter in her only Corinthos kids matter to me crap...

I seriously want Joss to come back SORAsed and ready to pull some of the same shit Carly pulled on Bobbie when she came to town.  Sleep with "Uncle Sonny" and generally make mommie dearest's life hell.

Perhaps even better -- sleep with Jason. That would make Carly's head explode. I don't think the state of New York is big enough to contain Carly's jealousy should that ever happen.

Y'all  are missing the obvious big GH ending. *creepy whisper* Little Jake will kill them all.

I was getting serious serial killer vibes from that kid. All my dads leave. Have we even seen Cam and Aiden? or did little Jake make them go away.

Dante spent half his life looking for his father? I don't recall ever hearing that again. But at least he's berating Sonny for his lifestyle, even if it's too little too late and a Sonny can't hear him. It's just a real shame that they're going to revive Sonny. And really, theses flashbacks? I suppose were supposed to see Sonny and Carly as some great love story for the ages. Sorry, I'm not buying it.

What I am seeing is that Mo has put on some weight. He's looking kinda pudgy lying in that hospital bed.

In his first year on the show, Dante had a number of conversations with Lulu about having wanted to find his father when he was younger - and about the difficulty of trying to reconcile the wish/need for a father in his life with the mob boss this father turned out to be.  Remembering those 2009/2010 conversations made me see this line yesterday as spot-on with Dante's history.

Joss is still off-screen with Jax, but I don't think he has official sole custody.  Also, I do believe Carly mentioned that she wasn't going to tell Jax or Joss about the marriage to Sonny until after the wedding.

Carly: God, I know I have no right to ask, but please don't take Sonny from me. Don't let him die.

God: Are you fucking kidding me with this?

And yet, Sonny will live. Where's a vengeful God when you need one?

Carly didn't want to argue with Jax about it, though at this point he shouldn't be surprised.

That chapel should have burst into flames when Sonny kneeled there to pray after AJ died.  This time I think its a case of God saying "Don't worry.  I sure as hell don't want him."

Meanwhile Satan is saying "We're good here. You can keep him."

I've watched GH since before I was in elementary school, as my babysitter watched religiously.

I adored the early to mid 90's. Over the last decade or so, I've remained a viewer strictly out of loyalty.

I just can't watch it anymore, though. I never thought I'd fully give it up, but it's been a couple of weeks and I don't miss it.

Anna went out with Buzz Stryker.  Did she ever sleep with him?  Ewww if she did.

Buzz-and-Anna-general-hospital-80s-26397

No, they went on a couple dates, and Robin was all excited at the prospect of him becoming her stepdad, but Anna didn't have that strong of feelings for Buzz.  He got a couple kisses and her falling asleep on his shoulder while sitting on the kitchen floor after he fixed her washer machine. Nope, none of that is a euphemism for anything else.

Buzz Stryker sounds like a porn name.

It does!  I can't think of that name without thinking of Buzz Lightyear either.

Was Patrick and Sam's convo over the phone supposed to be a joke or serious? Patrick nearly has TEARS talking about Sonny not making it. Sam talking about "taking the lead on adventures" that they NEVER GO ON, Sam staring at Jason's picture, Sam saying Patrick is "the best there is." No, honey, that would be Robin, who brings dead people back to life!!!

/omg.

It's always weird when Ric and Sam have civilized conversations…I liked it, though. And I liked that they both acknowledged their shitty past together. And was that a couple of lackluster "ILYs" between Sam and Patrick or what?

And I am shocked that Liz chose to keep quiet today. Shocked.

I don't know why they even write scenes like that. Of COURSE the lie has to be exposed at the worst possible time for the liars.

It's the same reason why they have Jakeson say crap like, "I'll never leave you!" It's all a tease.
