It was noted in one of the Instagram posts that talked about that video that North's friend Ryan was next to her (Kim also tweeted saying she couldn't fool North and Ryan) so it may have been Ryan that called her Kim.

Because her advisors told her to.    It is a big deal and many serious people are working on it.   What the movement does NOT need is Kim sticking her big ass into it.   I could say more on this meeting but don't want to get POL.   Let's just say we have hit peak reality tv.

So Trump meets with her and  then foists her off into his son in law?

i saw a clip of an interview with her this morning saying that she no longer gets off (paraphrased) on spending money on random stuff ( I guess since the robbery and her turning over a new leaf) so once a year instead of a shopping spree she’s going to help someone.

Learning one woman's story doesn't make you an expert that should be sitting in the most powerful house in the country, a house that has the power to affect change and show up without the front line people who have been busting their assess off fighting for the larger cause of prison reform. Sure, it's great that someone can be the beneficiary of her constant need for attention and to be feel like she's a generous person, but I can't take her seriously when she shows up solo to take this meeting. For that kind of opportunity, I don't think she's at all equipped to be relaying the issue and discussing solutions.

Or maybe I've got it wrong - does anyone know if she showed up with a team of people to take the meeting? If she used her face and platform to get the real workers a foot in the door, then I'll be less annoyed by her overall existence.

But that said, it seems so contrary to celebrate her for being charitable when the act of charity is to help others and while she's taking pictures with Trump, talking about prison reform, she's still promoting scam products on her social media sites to a largely impressionable fan base without any regard for their well-being...but I guess it's okay to compromise values when you're getting paid a supposed $1M to suck a on weight loss lollipop.

Did you forget that Kourtney met with Senators to discuss cosmetic regulations? Kim wasn't going to let her get away with showing how she cares about more important things than Kim does. Kim has been trying to get this meeting months before Kourtney had that meeting with Senators.

Alice Johnson's attorney went with her to the meeting, so no she didn't just show up by herself.

Kim is bankrolling Shawn Holley to handle this woman’s case.  Both of them are getting something out of the relationship. Holley gets financial backing and the use of Kim’s PR machine to further her cause and Kim gets access to the people and places she craves and who  normally not give her the time of day.  And she gets to tell herself that she’s not the shallow self centered person she used to be and can go on about her 3 hour glam session, endless selfie taking and indiscriminate spending ways.

Maybe, but Kourtney didn't just decide to go talk to the Senate & walk in, she had to be working on it for months too. I wouldn't put it past Kim finding out what Kourtney was trying to do, & then deciding she needed to do something also.

So the meeting was just specific to Alice Marie Johnson? I was under the impression that Johnson's case was a segue to a larger discussion on prison reform in which case I still advocate that those who are dedicated to the subject should have been on hand (or perhaps they prepped the women prior to their meeting). I don't think Johnson's lawyer needs to remind anyone of Kim's involvement. When you read the media coverage, they make it seem like it's a one woman show, lol.

I think it was. The prime focus was on Alice but Kim tweeted after the meeting that she was hopeful that Alice and "others like her" would get a second chance at life.

Kim Kardashian - not President Trump, who signed the orders this morning, or anyone who lobbied for years, then got Kim involved in the project - got Alice Marie Johnson pardoned. I'm not making light of her contribution, Kim did a good thing fighting for her, but she's getting a lot of great press out of it, especially from TMZ.

The funny thing the other day a tweet was spreading from some Whiten House media insider that Kim's meeting got little traction and nothing would come of it. 

I don't care if Kim gets a ton of good press out of this, what matters to me is that there is a family out there who is likely going to spend their whole lives being very grateful to her (and President Trump obviously) because they'll have their mother/grandmother/great grandma home. In the 22 years Alice was locked up no one faught for her in any way that mattered.

I hope she keeps her word

I think it's great for Alice Marie...and Kim has said that she wants to continue to stay involved in the discussion of prison reform and use her platform to give a platform to those who have been fighting tirelessly for the cause. I don't compliment her often but I thought her response to the pardon was humbling and fairly gave the credit to those working behind the scenes. Of course, the media won't care about that and will continue to give her the spotlight but recognizing that this was made possible by the great work of others is the most Kim can control.

But to your point, this was all made possible because Trump was more eager to answer the door for a celebrity than a politician which is unprecedented from previous administrations but in this case, if that's what it takes to effect change, then power to those that utilize the strategy for good. I was originally skeptical of Kim thinking she showed up solo to talk about prison reform and I'll admit I misjudged her for that but I definitely can't and won't discredit the fact that her celebrity and what it means to this current administration is the reason Alice Marie Johnson is a free woman.

I probably was a bit harsh in my statement about Kim, because, she really can't control what the media reports, but there is no doubt in my mind that she had a huge hand in making this happen. Ultimately, it really doesn't matter what her reason was, she helped reunite a woman with her family, & in this case, in my opinion, it was the right thing to do (1st time, non-violent offender receiving a life-sentence, of which she's already served 21 years). In the clips, I'm almost positive I heard Alice Marie Johnson say Kim was the one that told her that President Trump had released her. I'd like to believe that maybe this has opened Kim's eyes & made her aware that she can do a lot of good with her celebrity, & she can do it while keeping her clothes on; I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

I agree that this is one of those deals where you have to give the Devil her due. Love Kim or hate her, she had a huge hand in getting this woman out of prison. Regardless if her intentions were altruistic or self-serving, the bottom line is her celebrity influence was finally put to good use. Hopefully she keeps it up.

Yep. Alice has been doing interviews this morning and she said Kim made the phone call and told her she would be going home and they were both crying. She refers to her as her "war angel".

Apparently Alice's grandsons are big Kanye fans. This has to be so surreal for them.

It would have been nice if Kris and Khloe's comments on the matter had followed in the same manner as Kim's - they literally gave her all of the credit while Kim at least made sure to use the moment to give those behind the scenes their due in working tirelessly for Alice's cause and prison reform in general.
