Fernando (Miami, Fla.) and Carolina (Colombia)

Fernandito's mom looks down on Carolina because she's Cuban and Carolina Colombian. Though you'd think Cuba is on a lower place at the totem pole of South America and the Caribbean than Colombia.

Carolinas family is from a very low class that may add to it, too.

Not to get too political but there is the class of Cubans who left before the Mariel boat lift and those left behind living under the Castros

Haven't watched the show enough to form a strong opinion of these two, but so far I think Fernando is a pig and Carolina's in it just for the green card--she'll be out looking for another, better American man once she has that card in hand--and personally, I hope it works for her, simply because she hasn't done anything bad to deserve Fernando's lukewarm treatment and his mother's open hostility.

Well he says online that her family owns a restaurant and 2 homes in Columbia

also they lived together one year in ColumbiafI don't think she is "in it for the green card at all....maybe you have her confused with Nikki?

Ok let's get things into perspective. Her family most likely doesn't own a fine gourmet restaurant. Rather, they probably own a restaurant with standard Colombian meals, costing between $2-$4 each.

Homes in lower class areas typically cost between 15k and 30k each.

You would think she would have dropped all her illusions of being a classy lady the second or third time she was convicted of a felony, or after her first stint in prison.

Not exactly sure about this so maybe a Latin American can chime in here, but I know in American culture we use the word "classy" to refer to behavior and morals; I don't think Latin Americans se class from this perspective.  There seems to be an emphasis on parentage and who is more European in lineage vs. Indigenous.  Certain Latin American countries will claim to be more European and thus classier (DNA evidence shows that this isn't even really true).

No, I know Nikki's hanging in there for a green card--why else put up with a creepy old guy like Mark? And despite claims that she must be a gold-digger, I haven't seen Nikki ask for anything--she doesn't have a real ring, she has to get a $10 wedding dress, if Mark will allow it, and she hasn't asked for money for anything--so I don't see what she's getting out of this other than the green card.

As for Carolina--she seems like a nice young woman--she's not gorgeously beautiful but she is very attractive. Fernando, on the other hand, is overweight, has had numerous relationships and one failed marriage, plus he admitted he'd cheated on Carolina before bringing her over from Columbia. He doesn't seem to care all that much about her feelings or stand up for her to his mom. I don't see what these two have going for them. One thing Carolina does have is family back in Columbia who love her and care about her--which I don't think Nikki/Philippines has.

I don't know if I feel that she's in it for the green card or not but I did find it awfully weird that her dad seemed to be so upset that the process wasn't moving fast enough for him.  Why was he so eager to get his daughter out of the country?? Why was he worried it wasn't going to happen?

most dads would just tell their daughter to move on or stay out of her business.

It does make you wonder...

I'd be annoyed with Fernando if I were Carolina's father.  This skeezer keeps popping into Colombia to sleep with my daughter, promising her he's working on getting them married, but all this time goes by and nothing?

Surprised Fernando didn't have "an accident" and miss his return flight.

That must have been one of the eps I missed--yes, it would make me wonder, too, why her father would be worried about the K1 not going through. Perhaps the family is hoping to get a toe-hold into the US by having Carolina marry an American and get a green card? Not sure how long it would take before she could bring family members over (permanently), but I agree with you--it does make you wonder what's really going on!

I got the feeling that Carolina's father just felt like Fernando was stalling because he didn't have honest intentions.

All of Fernando's "reasons" sounded sort of made up, and he kept saying "well, another month, another month, another six months" and I think her father didn't want to see her get taken advantage of.

I mean, Mark was also divorced so why would Fernando's K1 take so much longer than his?

Fernandito could have easily married Carolina in Colombia. U.S. citizens get married to Colombians in Colombia all the time. The party would have been way cheaper too.

Caro wouldn't be able to get a K1, she'd have to go through a different visa process to come over if they decide to settle in the states but it's totally possible. So if all that Caros dad was worried about was the pig actually marrying his daughter, he could have done that a long time ago.

Wow...suggesting that her family would have him taken care of? Ouch..as bad as his Mom

Check social media - her family owns a restaurant and 2 houses

she is educated and her English is pretty good and will get better - anyhow she is fine in Miami either way

F has said they lived together for a year in Columbia....any good Catholic dad would be chomping at the bit - get married

(If it is ok to call him a pig, can I call Nikki the names I really think of her as?)

You can snark on people on the shows, yes, just not other members here. You seem to know a lot about this couple, do you know them personally?

His Spanish is elementary, at best. It's very bad.

Caroline's English is way better than his Spanish.

No way. He can make sentences at least. She speaks English using Spanish grammar, translating word by word. Agree on the fact that he has no accent. I'm from Argentina.

I think the producers have to stir up something. Yes, his Mom is being nasty but we don't know her medical problems and she may feel insecure.

Oh I think she is very insecure. She told F. herself "I'm afraid". But the problem is she expresses fear through hate. That is unacceptable. Especially bullying a young newcomer who just left her entire support system and is still in culture shock. I think she knows exactly how C. feels, she was once an immigrant too. That makes it plain evil.

I'm from Argentina and I have felt nothing but welcomed here (the Midwest). The only times I've felt slightly look down on was with Latin people who had been here longer. I can't imagine not speaking Spanish to someone who has just arrived and struggles with English. Evil.

You can tell they kept reverting to Spanish. I think it was yet another production driven thing. THEY wanted it to be forced English, not Fernando's mom or Carolina. I also think most of the words Fernando's mom was saying was scripted. She kept breaking into a smirk/smile, like you would when you're delivering lines and trying not to mess up.

I live in south florida, I don't know them

I am not Hispanic but I know many and I do know that she could be perfectly happy without speaking English in Miami

Her Columbian accent is considered very "correct" - many have told me that it is the sort used for tv presenters,

Actually a Cuban accent is more "colorful"..just like any island accent is

If you wanted to learn Spanish learning in Columbia would be good - just like people don't want to learn English with a

Arkansas or Boston accent = they learn "network american english" if they can

Her family did not look destitute, nor did she

Maybe the producers set up drama where there really is none?

I don't see why they are not a viable couple, their age difference is not gross...so he is overweight - welcome to America

I can only imagine the "bully" comments if a female contestant was mocked like that

Carolina seems like a nice girl and I think they are in love, not just an online "golddigger" and her target

I hope for the best for these two

^^if any female came on TV looking a mess and talking about how many hot dudes they can pull and how great they are I would be talking all sorts of shit about them too.  I'm an equal opportunity snarker.

You are probably right, because his Mom does not seem comfortable at all speaking English. Very forced. And I was surprised that C. was not in total tears after being insulted and bullied on top of all the stress and emotion from the trip.

She needs to be a citizen before she can bring family members over. She can apply for citizenship 2 years and 9 months after getting her green card. The citizenship process also can take a few months.

To me it looked like her dad was probably upset because it looked like Fernando wasn't serious about his daughter, nothing else.

I was reading through the Easily Entertained by 90-Day Fiance forum and found out the name of that dish that they were eating with Carolina's parents. It's called Hogao, and served on top of an arepa, which is a thin corn cake. Or you can use pita bread or a soft taco. Sounds pretty easy to make. And I want to try it with the sliced avocado on top like her mom was eating.

This is one recipe I found, there are a lot of variations out there. Now i'm hungry...

After seeing the Tell All episode, I'm finally on board with Fernando and Carolina. Someone on that thread thought Fernando has turned around and finally embraced commitment to one person, and I have to agree. It was great to see his mom finally accepting of Carolina, too. I have high hopes that their marriage will be happy and successful.

To me it seems they are trying just a little too hard to appear all happy and in love. Especially Fernandito who went out of his way all over social media to literally tell everyone how great he treats Carolina, all the awesome things he does for her and how much he loves her and how amazing they are together.

Exactly!  I'm so glad I'm not the only one who picks up on this.  I think people are programmed to believe what people tell them, and I think that makes society work, and its great.  But sometimes you have to read between the lines, and with Fernando, I think man boobs doth protesth too much.  And he basically called everyone who disagreed with him fat, ugly, bitter bettys too.  I think he is just as much a tool as anyone else, he just knows how to hide it, and people want to believe him so its easy for him to do so.

Fernando is so fake. He has to chime in one every conversation on FB even if it's not about him. And him trying to convince everyone that Carolina is happy because he buys her things is just pathetic.

I can definitely see him trying to keep his 5 minutes of fame whenever the new season starts.
