I'm at a loss to understand what they see in each other.  If he's just going for looks, yeah, she has a good body, but is only marginally pretty, and, if we use her family as an example, will not age well.  If heartless, mercenary old men can get "hot" Colombian chicks (as we've learned from other commenters on this show), he can probably do better.  I don't get any feeling that he's in love with her, is attracted to her, or really even likes her.  Their relationship seems like a chore to him.  As for her, maybe she's not old enough to understand that he's full of shit and/or has such low self-esteem that she thinks fat cheaters are a good bet as long as she can get to America?  It's a puzzlement.

I think a fat cheater may be good enough if she can get to America.  I think it depends on her goals.  There may be more opportunities in the US than there are in Colombia.  And as someone else pointed out that its much easier to meet someone once you are actually over here.  She gives me a very Jessica Rabbit vibe for some reason, so I think she is very pretty.  She is certainly pretty enough to move up the sugar daddy chain.  But you gotta be on the field to compete in the game, and she isn't even on the field if she is in Colombia.

But this is how cheaters are, right? We know they were both with other people when they met, and he is a serial cheater. His mom is horrid. Carolina doesn't stand a chance. She was being friendly with the dog...Mama then said....I hear you like cats..I hate cats....poor child..she's not going to be able to do anything right. Fernando isn't really a catch and his mommy is really controlling. She's also 17 years his junior...seems too immature to deal with who he realty is.

There is nothing reasonable about the moob manipulator being with a 22 year old girl when he is 39.

 

He is a manipulator, plain and simple.  And very likely a liar.  He knows exactly the crap situation he is putting her into and is happy to do so because it means he can be out chasing women while his mother handles ruining any sort of self esteem Carolina may have.  If he even cared for her a little he would leave her alone, because she deserves better.

 

He knows it, which is why he has no problem leaving her with his mother so she can tear her down and he can keep his hands clean.

 

I don't care what mommy dearest's medical problems are, you don't treat another human being that way.  And you don't get a pass from acting decent because you don't feel good, you don't get a pass from acting decent because your cancer is in remission.  His mother is a miserable human being, and he is a miserable human being for bringing someone else into this mess.

 

Best bet for her is to get her green card and find a better man.  She is a pretty, young girl, there are much, much, much better options than Fernando for someone like her.   Of course, she will never believe that if she spends a significant amount of time around his hag of a mother, so I hope she is able to find some way to get away from her during the day.  And of course, if he manages to get her pregnant, all bets are off for her too.  Poor girl.

It actually is pretty unreasonable.  I don't subscribe to the "well if X did it, Y should be able to do it too" philosophy.  Both Michael Douglas and Fernando can have age inappropriate relationships.  Both Michael Douglas and Fernando can be asshats.  One of them just has a real job and money.  And only one of them is picking girls that are way out of his league, because he has neither looks, nor money, nor anything else to recommend him to a young, pretty girl so he has to resort to manipulations.

He admitted on Twitter that both of his parents have been in jail, and that his brother has a brain injury from an accident with associated mental illness and substance abuse. He was ticked that someone dug up his brother's arrest for drugs when he isn't a part of the show, and call him a deadbeat because his parents live with him. It doesn't seem like something to lie about. There is no real benefit to him.

Its a beautifully hypocritical thing when a grown woman who has been convicted of multiple felonies can look down on someone just for being from Colombia.  Where I'm from, if you want to be arrogant, and look down on others, you do that based on your accomplishments.  All Fernando's mother has accomplish is raising at least two sons that haven't contributed anything to the world and getting convicted of multiple felonies.  She has no right to look down her nose at anyone   I don't think you even get rice in prison.

Here is what we know about Fernando.  He has an "internet business" that requires "business trips" to a middle-class area of Colombia.  It has never been made clear what exactly this "internet business" does.  His entire family has been in jail or in trouble with the law.  I wouldn't find it too far out of the realm of possibility that he is also involved in something less than fully legal.  Although, it might make sense that his parents put their house in his name to avoid having it taken away by the government.

The "home" is in a trust, so Fernando doesn't really own it and its unclear who does besides the actual trust.  The interior of that home smacks of "old lady" knick knacks and doo-dads built up over years and years  Not "mom moved in a few years with me a few years ago."  There is nothing to indicate that Fernando is any better off, other than what Fernando says.  Still unclear what "business" an "internet company" has in middle/lower class suburbs of Colombia.

A lot of guys who seek women abroad as a lifestyle choice ("game" kinds of guys) set up location-independent companies. So I don't think he had a business in middle/lower-class Colombian suburbs, but one that he could run from anywhere. I've met quite a few of these guys, since I live in a place where they like to go.

There's a whole subculture of men from the U.S. and other countries who go to places like Latin America and Eastern Europe to date/sleep with women who are seen as more "traditional." Medellin itself is a big place for those guys.

Living in America would have infected them with feminism or whatever. The really hardcore would have stayed in Colombia with her and never had her move to the U.S. I've lived in Russia for nearly a decade and I've known plenty of expat guys who like it here for exactly this reason.

Hmmm, there are plenty of traditional women living in the US, especially in those small communities where continuing the culture is seen as being vitally important.  I've heard of men travelling to Russia to find a wife, because in that case traditional values would really make a difference.  But making life decisions about a job so you can just have sex with someone traditional is nothing I've ever heard of.  And if they are traditional, wouldn't they refuse to sleep with a man unless he has serious intentions?

They dress up and cook for you and clean your apartment for you, I guess. :P The women from traditional communities in the U.S. would probably expect a ring and would also probably want a partner who shared her beliefs.

Here, at least--I don't know about Latin America--while I wouldn't say it's conservative in terms of dating/hooking up, gender roles are pretty strictly defined. I had a personal trainer tell me once that it was terrible that my boyfriend cooks because he is a man. Haha. Anyway, Fernando immediately struck me as this kind of guy.

"Condo" refers to how a property is owned, not how it looks.  Yes, most condos resemble apartment buildings, but my condo is a townhouse.

Fernandito's mom looks down on Carolina because she's Cuban and Carolina Colombian. Though you'd think Cuba is on a lower place at the totem pole of South America and the Caribbean than Colombia.
