I have a bad feeling Bello or Devin is going to take this. The final 3 will probably be Haddasah, Bello and Devin, i.e. the 3 most annoying of the entire bunch.

I'm very torn on Mikey. He's a total douche as a person, last week I was still giving him the benefit of the doubt and thinking he might be savvy enough to know what could get him remembered/kept. This week is the same, but i'm verging more to moron than to creates drama to last. On the other hand he's gorgeous in picture and I love his rock tar/viking vibe.

 

So I'm sure Tyra will get his tressed cut - and I'm looking for it in a perverse way.

 

I also expect horror makeovers for the pageant girl and Mamé - for Mamé I'm expecting something similar in effect to what the universally acknowledged "hot girl" of last season got (can't remember her name) and which killed he mojo.

 

Surprised (or not) that some people that were dropped (and that I don't think I ever saw before) were way more gorgeous than the ones kept. That's when you know drama potential trumps modeling potential. Ohhh Tyra, Kelly and all, just keep bringing on the 8.9 or 6.7 or whatever therse were, I know you're just pretending!    

 

Love that Courtney (if that is her name, the rough looking girl) phtographes well, and hoping for a wonderful makeover for her ;-)

The previews gave away two of the makeovers:

Stefano gets a weird, side parted, Kate Gosselin-looking 'do with blond streaks (it looked awful), and it didn't look like they did anything at all to Mame.

 

I'm thinking Peed-on-snow for Courtney or Ava, and maybe Devin. I see her giving him the Don makeover for some reason. Hadassah is soooo getting her head shaved it isn't even funny. Tyra hates pageant girls!

 

Of course Tyra was keeping both Bello and Devin... she feeds on the drama like a vampire on blood. Maybe that's what keeps her looking young.

 

I really need Nyle to improve, because he has to stick around. He is sooooo pretty to look at, and seems like a nice guy. He needs to stick around to help Justin (who isn't going anywhere anytime soon) balance out Stefano and Mikey, because they are horrible.

I don't think they're going to do much with Nyle during makeovers, IMO he's just about perfect.

Which is probably reason enough for Tyra to mess it up, right? Well, at least we can be sure he won't get the fake beard. Hopefully it will be something innocuous, like making him go clean shaven.

 

I'm not an orthodontist, but I doubt Courtney's teeth can be fixed quickly enough for the show's time frame. I know people who had much less severe buck teeth and still needed to wear braces for two years to correct them.

 

Co-sign. I had a gap just as big and buck teeth, though not quite as prominent, and I had braces for 3.5 years.

 

Tyra said male models are paid 10% of what female models get.

 

Ohhhhh. Ok. I was thinking a 10% man was like a 5 minute man or something similar that is not good. Thanks for clearing that up, LOL.

Finally got to watch. 

 

First of all, it makes me rage that people actually give up full ride scholarships to be on a teevee show. I'm sorry. i get you want to be [insert what you wanna be], but unless you are LeBron James, and then you can have oodles of money afterwards to go to school be cool, and choose school, you fool!. Especially when you're not that pretty, Bryant. (I wonder if it was a sports scholarship or something. This might be shallow of me, and it easily could have been an academic one.... but still). 

 

I am not getting a lot of these choices. Like even for the drama and the like... some of these people wouldn't have even been chosen last year or the year before. They also just don't work period. I'm not going to see it at all. 

 

also: if you don't know what profile is .. Hadassah... Oxford English Dictionary. it is your friend. 

 

It really seems like Tyra was doing all the chosing because Miss J. was def. surprised and upset that some of his favourites weren't chosen (I caught a distinct "but I thought you liked that one ?" "I DID!" and a "Well you looked better than all of them any way, baby!" )

 

the judging: no more social media - but having the deliberations (and the fighting over numbers) need to be there. you don't even have to say what the number is just go "If it were me I'd give <<range of number>>>  because this is what I see. "ARE YOU NUTS?" "are you blind?!" etc and so forth. give us the reasons why you are giving the numbers. 

 

the point number? No boo. Just have 1 or 1.5. (and if you're giving out .3. just round DOWN. rounding down is your friend. we learn this in school. Tyra - you "went to Harvard" you should know that. I'm pretty sure they teach that at business school.

Come on people.  After all the cycles of Tyra and Co.'s manipulation tactics and you're actually surprised about the scoring?  Tyra has almost always manipulated things as much as possible.  When the scoring system started, her scores were always last so she could determine who was going and staying.  Just like HER choosing the pictures.  Just like her and TPTB choosing which contestants made it through as based on Miss Jay's surprise at losing Larissa and Gage or Miguel.  This is the same as past deliberations where Mr. Jay would tell a girl she'd done great on a shoot only to have Tyra select a bad picture of said girl to send her home.  Or in C11 when Analeigh bobbled her CG commercial and got cut.  According to Analeigh in a post-show interview, when she showed up at the finale runway practice show, Mr. Jay was surprised to see her implying that bobble or not he'd expected to see her in the finale.

 

Bottom line is Tyra and Co. have always manipulated things.

Well, fine....I'mjust going to vent. That stupid-ass crane assisted """runway" , really? With models attempting to model mid-air was awkward, people. Not pretty, not ugly-pretty. Awkward. Reminded me of sitting through a Moulin Rouge show in Paris last year...characters being hoisted up on wires, dangling over the audience, gamely trying to look invested in the proceedings, but really, just looking awkward "running" in mid air to their true loves, and it was like bad 1980's porn simply waiting for the set piece to be over. Yuck. Nobody looks good!

Is it wrong that I was disappointed that they didn't actually drop the models from the runway? They lowered them nicely.

 

I was a bit bummed out, especially after some previously stellar runway challenges (e.g. inside clear beach balls while in the water, runway with pendulums).

Especially one with a track record like ANTM. They've managed to produce a few models who actually work, but they're the rare exception. Or so it seems to me. I zoned out for about 8 or 10 cycles so what do I know? Maybe ANTM alumni are taking over fashion world.

I can't help but wonder what Gage and India will tell their children 10 years hence: "Yes, your daddy/mommy was on America's Next Top Model"...for all of 30 seconds across three episodes.

 

I rarely pray, but I was PRAYING they'd drop Devin during the high-wire catwalk. Not only did they not drop him, he had the nerve to win best photo. Clearly God's trying to teach me a lesson. Both he and fellow drama queen Bello took pretty good pictures IMO. As did Mikey...I was ready to reconsider my first opinion of him but then he had to flip on Courtney. Not only do I want Tyra to cut off his hair, I nominate him for the Peed-On-Snow (I like that much better than Ice Queen) makeover treatment.

 

Re other male makeovers, Tyra better not mess with Justin or Nyle. I'm not sure what they can do to Stefano. Dustin I don't care about. Both Bello and Devin should get their hair chopped but I have a feeling one of them might get a weave. Please GOD, no fake beards!

 

I felt they pretty much telegraphed Delanie's departure early in the show. I was praying (again) that they'd boot Hadassah because she so obviously didn't know what she was doing in the photoshoot. WTH do you mean you don't know what "profile" means? Maybe next week Tyra will shave off her weave and THEN drop her.

 

Re other female makeovers: Whatever they do to Mame, I hope they don't give her a safe, straight-haired look. Lacey I could see with a short crop. Didn't they show Courtney with darker hair in an earlier episode? Ava and Ashley...I like them both so I just hope Tyra doesn't mess them up too badly. Please GOD, no Saleisha bobs!

 

Miss J's shoe line is kind of cute.

Please do not refer to Tyra as "God".  She may seem to think it, but actually saying it about her goes too far!

Mikey could maybe get a spot as an extra on History's "Vikings" when this is through. But, seriously, his treatment of Courtni (Is that how she spells it?) was delusional. After spending last ep prowling the house for some female to share his bed, he seems to think that Courtni was somehow the "winner" for having been "chosen"? That's like being the last female in the club at closing time.

   And, not surprisingly, Tyra doesn't understand the industry she's recruiting for. Not only will designers never make clothes for short models, but males will never spend the same amount of money on clothing that women will, and, therefore, modeling clothing (and accessories, make-up, etc.) will always be more lucrative for women. Most successful male models realize that, unless they are being photographed alone or with other males, their job is to make the female model look good. Many males probably did the same for Tyra herself.

  That's part of why the competition should never be about guys vs. girls, because they will never be up for the same jobs nor be expected to do the same things.

   Is it wrong that I'm hoping some of the makeovers involve the rack and stretching models to realistic heights?

I still find it so odd that on a show (half) about male models, I find most of the guys to be average to yuck.

While i'm not surprised i'd find a good chunk of the guys in a modeling competition a bit fugly, because modeling(especially high fashion modeling) kind of likes fug faces on guys, what i'm surprised by is the regularness of the fugness. Devin and C20's Marvin and Chris are the only ones I can think of where the fug is in the usual modeling realm of facial features that are on the extreme ends, like if you made a character in a Elder Scrolls game and set their cheekbones, lips etc to max. But then even the good looking guys tend to be on the regular side of good looking, Nyle is one of the few examples out of the many guys the show has had that I would term 'classically handsome'. And where are the guys who have the Colton Haynes style facial features, which seem to dominate a lot of rolls of male models in agencies i've seen. Bryant is really the closest they've gotten to a legit fitness model look too, though at 5'6" he's too short for most fitness modeling too.

 

It's kind of strange because while other modeling shows with male contestants i've seen didn't generally focus on guys who looked like working male models either, they still generally cast extraordinarily attractive men with really good bodies.

Devin has such an extremely unattractive face I don't think he is even the fugly male model look. He is just fugly. Those lazy eyes!

Bello looks like a cross between Stacey Dash and Prince, and not in an attractive way either. He and Devin are the fugliest males ever on this show, by a mile.

In general, this cycle's male models are not that good looking. Last cycle had the best looking ones IMHO, like Matthew, Will and Ben.

I know, right! Modelling is one of the very few professions where women actually get paid more than men. As a woman you would think Tyra would be all about the whole "girl power" thing but nooooooo, she is champion of the poor underpaid men. I feel sooooo bad for these poor, hot, health young men who have chosen to take massive pay cuts to have their picture taken for a living rather than doing something more lucrative. Oh how unfair the world is to young men these days.

This. Right. Here.  I couldn't figure out why I couldn't stand Bello outside from the bitchiness he displays.  Then I imagined Prince being in this competition and probably winning it even at his lack of height.

Have a hard time considering Will and Ben good looking. They are plain. Nyle and Dustin are far better looking.

 

And Bello is more of a cross between Droopy Dog, Stacey Dash and little Kenya Michaels from Rupaul's Drag Race 4.

I was surprised by how borderline legit Tyra's lesson was. The way she presented it was dumb and felt very much like trying to make "fetch" happen (as per usual with her made up modeling terms) but behind all of that silliness, I had to begrudgingly acknowledge that there were hints of some actually helpful posing tips. And yes, the animal comparisons probably did make it easier to understand and remember the poses.

 

I agree, but I was a little disappointed that there weren't any made up words to laugh about for the rest of the season.  When I heard Tyra say that it would be a no neck lesson, I immediately thought of "Smeck" - smiling with your neck - and "Nooch" - that she would tell the guys to stick out their adams apples and nooch

Delanie was lucky she got out last week.  I am 1000% sure Tyra was gonna chop off her hair just so she doesn't "Rest on pretty."

 

Hadassah has a very strong nose, perhaps could be stated as "Egyptian.  I wouldn't be surprised if that headshave was not misleading, she could look striking with  it.

 

I have revised my original bet in the Peed-On-Snow Pool from Bello to Devin.

@stardancer supreme: Yes ITA. 57-year-old Prince, if he was in this competition, would blind all the hamsters, judges and social media with his fierceness and booching/tooching skills, win every pendulum swinging/flying in the air/torched with fire/nude on stilts/vertical runway challenge, and be crowned the all-star Pot Ledom supreme winner of ANTM for all eternity with his eleganza extravaganza. Tyra should be so lucky!
