Well, they never(?) called him 'Luis' in the show; his nickname was 'McGrady' because of the basketball jersey he wore.

Bellick was killed in Season 4, though.

Thanks, I watched S4 sporadically at best. The Oceans 11 vibe felt off and I couldn't really get into it.

I also didn't like the last part of season 4. Once the Scylla plot ended and Gretchen was out, it changed over to some Michael's mom plot, which I totally didn't care about.

I think Bellick was killed in season 4.  Season 4 was tolerable to me, and even better in a rewatch than the first time around.  It's season 3 that I block from my memory and try to pretend it never happened.

I've slowed down a bit on my watching - I just fell in love with Brooklyn 99 - but some notes:

Bellick is AN ASSHOLE. He killed the cat! And it was so stupid! At least give Westmoreland a chance to rethink negotiating before you destroy your last bargaining chip! Asshat.

T-Bag is A BIGGER ASSHOLE. I can totally believe he killed that guard; I can totally believe he'd sell out his lieutenant to save his own ass. What I can't believe is that I will be rooting for him in any way come later seasons. Can't see it, sorry.

When does C-Note join the story?? Hard to believe he's not a bigger part of this halfway in, when he was all over Season 5. Did they kill everybody else off and he's all that was left?

I'm assuming anybody I didn't see in Season 5 dies violently and/or tragically at some point. Which is a depressing way to watch.

Silas Weir Mitchell! I've a soft spot for Haywire; guy has mental illness and just do what he do. Michael's so mean to him! I get why - but still, he can't help how his brain works!

Starting to see why Sucre is such a fan favourite.

Linc and LJ scenes still make me tear up. And I really don't get the hate for LJ - guy saw his mother mowed down in front of him! And had the presence of mind to snap a picture of the murderer!

Speaking of which: Kellerman is AN ASSHOLE. I'm glad he dies in Season 5! I so don't get the love for assholes in this series when there are such yummy choices like Linc, Michael and Sucre to root for.

Linc broke my heart when he realized the reporter was a plant and LJ was in danger. So glad Michael stopped him from suicidally charging the gates.

You know, looking at Michael at the beginning of this series after seeing him in Season 5 when Jacob accuses him of being a game theory player...while I know that's not true, I can kind of see how his actions and demeanour sort of point that way. Especially in how he's manipulating Sara - it seems obvious she's factoring into the escape in some way. If I were her in Season 5, and it turns out Michael might have faked his death and my learned professor husband is gently pointing out how that fits in with game theory and manipulation...I'd have to wonder myself. Luckily they didn't leave her in suspense too long!

Obviously the last episode I've watched was the one where Westmoreland lost the cat and torched the guard shed, and LJ loses his mother. Looking forward to seeing more this weekend!

Linc killing that assassin is going to come back to bite him in the ass, isn't ?

You don't have to root for him at all -- I don't! He's one of those "love to hate"-type characters; and while I thought he worked well as an antagonist in the first two seasons, he should have been off the show after that.

He was in a couple of episodes at the beginning, but then he joins the 'team' in the back half of the season. As for him in Season 5, I think he was included because his character's backstory (coming up later in Season 1) makes him the most likely person to have connections in the Middle East.

I don't think it's a spoiler to say (but just in case,)

Spoiler

that it doesn't. At least not in any direct way. They still want him dead.

First two episodes of season four and it's already nuts because I honestly forgot about 95% of everything that happened!

So, basically Whistler and Mahone were actually going undercover against The Company at the end of season three, and were trying to use Gretchen to do so. But it pretty much all falls apart and Whistler gets killed and Mahone's family dies as well.  Damn, that is rough!

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a complete recon, but I can already tell that they are toning down Bellick's asshole antics from the past few seasons, and making him more of a goofy, almost comedic character, and basically ignoring his past actions.  Not only do they a bit where Michael's all "You helped Sucre, so you are good now!" about him, there was even a brief shot of Sara (welcome back!) patting him on the shoulder.  Seriously, I have nothing but love for Wade Williams, but it's stretch buying that everyone is so forgiving towards him.  Meanwhile, Lincoln is pretty much starring daggers at Mahone every time they cross paths, which is awesome, especially since Mahone's reactions seems to be all "Oh, calm down, Linc!  I killed your father one time and suddenly I'm the worst!"

Forgot Michael Rapaport played the Detective who was running this anti-Company show.  Eh... I don't hate him, but he's someone who I think is only really good at one type of role, and I just don't think he fits this character.

Also forgot Cress Williams plays the new Company Man.  He even gets the infamous "Bell Chime", that makes me hate him, because that Bell Chime belongs to Kellerman and Kellerman only!

I about died when they thought they downloaded Scylla in episode two and Sucre was all "We did it, guys!", and basically jinxed them when they found out there was five more.  I was waiting for Michael to break the fourth wall and say "Dude, this is only the second episode of the season!"

T-Bag's moustache and goatee kind of makes him look like a younger, creepier Colonial Sanders.

Finally, I just love how much of a grump Linc is in all of this.  It's like no matter what happens, the entire operation just pisses him off, which is understandable and hilarious.  I could see Michael trying to treat everyone to pizza night and Linc would just yell "I didn't want Dominos, Michael, I wanted Pizza Hutt!  This is bullshit!"  And then punch a hole through a wall.  All while Sucre and Bellick hide in a corner and Mahone just starts grabbing slices, because he ain't going to let Grumpy Linc stop him from eating!

This is how much I forgot. I thought Mahone's son died before Mahone appeared in S2, and he just had an ex-wife played by Callie Thorne. How did this actually play out?

ETA: I see the son was actually injured in S2 and killed in S4. Brutal. Cute kid actor, though.

OH MY GOD, HOW THE FUCK DID YOU ALL GET THROUGH "THE RAT" WHEN IT AIRED?! I've watched the fifth season; I know Linc doesn't get the chair, and I'm here snotting and bawling and clutching my stomach like I don't know what the hell is happening!!

How did you manage to get through that on first airing?!

Up to episode six now!

So, I was a bit wrong, as Wyatt/Company Man actually only killed Mahone's son and spared his ex, because he wanted her to give Mahone a message?  That's a bit of a switch, because the usual Bad Guy Playbook is that you kill the wife/husband/ex, and then spare the kid, because as much as the target loves their significant other, the bond with their child tends to be even bigger.  Wyatt had to know that he was going to get Mahone to turn himself in, but instead have Mahone out for his blood.  Not seeing the logic there.  It's rare to give kudos to Smirking Kim, but he had the right idea with just simply injuring the son and then lording something worse over Mahone.  That's how you get the intended results!

Forgot Stacy Haiduk played one of the cardholders, so that was awesome.  Had a crush on her since Seaquest DSV and she is still gorgeous as this and True Blood have taught me!

T-Bag's whole subplot with this Gates organization feels like it belongs on a different show, even though I get it is connected with whatever Whistler was doing. It certainly doesn't help that it's not like I want T-Bag to win, so why should I pull for him over his nosy co-worker or Ron Yuan (yay!) randomly showing up and threatening to put a bullet in his head, if he doesn't hand Scylla over.  On the other hand, certainly can't complain about Shannon Lucio as Trishanne the Secretary, who the costume department apparently deemed to have her wear the lowest cut tops they could get away with on network television.  Too bad she's an idiot, who after finding out T-Bag is a phony, decides to blackmail him instead of turn him in to Bellick/Sucre.

I could watch the scene of the first time the group sees T-Bag over and over again.  It was so magical!  Cut toT-Bag staring at Lincoln horrified!  Cut to Lincoln staring back confused!  Cut back to T-Bag even more horrified!  Go back to Lincoln getting angry!  Everyone else finally turns around and then they stare at T-Bag!  Lincoln gets up!  T-Bag hilariously starts running for the hills!  Oh, Prison Break!  When you're good, you're good!!

I will say that I really enjoyed "Blow Out" a.k.a. the episode where Mahone gets arrested and they have to break him out.  I liked the dilemma over it and how the debate played out.  It makes since that Bellick and Sucre would be upset over the idea of letting him take the fall, due to Bellick being about himself ("If they abandon him, what about me?!"), and Sucre being such a loyal guy, that he just can't stomach the idea of letting any one of their teammates get captured.  At the same time, I do get why Michael and Lincoln wanted to move on at first, because the mission was more important (and out of everyone, Mahone would be the one to understand that.)  And all the stuff with Gretchen and her sister, Shelf in The General's sights, and even T-Bag's stuff was really good.  And I noticed this was written by Kalinda Vasquez, who later went on to produce Nikita, and I felt like it had a similar feel to it.  Hell, Gretchen breaking out and preparing to go against the Company could have been a practice run for how Nikita ended up turning on Division.

All that said, the episode did lead to one of big unintentional laugh during the horse racing heist, where Michael disguised himself with a freaking bucket hat. Mahone has done that and he can pull off that look, but Michael looked so ridiculous.  Maybe he lost his normal caps and Mahone was just like "Here, have this." On the other hand, Sara was on point with both the yellow dress (and southern accent) and then later at Mahone's hearing, the lawyer getup!

Ha!! I don't know if you participated in the TWoP forums during PB's run, but I remember speculating that it was probably Wentworth's own bucket hat (that he had been photographed wearing in paparazzi photos). Not the only complaint I had about Michael's wardrobe that season.

Whelp, I just got through episode nine and ten, which was when Bellick dies and gets his sendoff, so I'm definitely getting close to when I originally dropped off (I had thought it was he died, but I've got a sense now that I might have seen a few more.  Still not sure.)

Anyways, it played out slightly different from what I remember, in that everyone's reactions wasn't as overdramatic as I initially thought, but it still felt out of character for everyone to be so shaken by it.  If I was being generous, I can maybe understand Lincoln since he had be right there when it happened and also Sucre, he's always been a caring individual like that (plus Bellick had apparently saved him in Sona, even though we never actually saw it.)  But everything else ranging from Mahone putting that police badge in his casket, Michael sadly starring at the casket while Sara dramatically turns away, everyone flashing back to a past scene they had with him (although I loved that they used his "I have coupon for Red Lobster" scene with Sara.  Ha!) and especially T-Bag blubbering in the office was so silly.  I'm not saying they should have thrown a party or anything and, again, I'll certainly missed Wade Williams, but after everything Bellick had done to them in the past, it just didn't feel earned.  If any viewer had never seen an episode of this before, they would have fought Bellick was some kind of honorable man or even someone who wanted to be redeemed, instead of a sniveling opportunist at best and a deranged psychopath at worst.

Other then all of that, totally forgot Trishanne was an agent for Self (wasn't she already at Gate before Michael and crew got wind of it?  Does Self know more then he is letting on), Gretchen's relationship with The General is kind of creepy (although I like them bringing Lisa back, so I can watch Jodi Lyn O'Keefe and Stacy Haiduk stare daggers at each other), and Mahone getting his revenge on Wyatt was brutal, but I did love him just shoving Wyatt in the ocean mid "We're a lot a like!" speech.  Mahone already had to listen to T-Bag try to pull that act last season and he is getting tired of this shit!  Mahone has done some horrible things, but at least she's safely not killed children, you two!

Oh, and I kept forgetting to talk about Michael's dumb brain tumor plot.  Right down to the "You have to have surgery now, Michael!  You can't wait two days or it's suddenly going to kill you right then and there!" tease at the end.  Poor Michael.  Either hold off and risk dying or have it and let the rest run things themselves.  Which, considering your brief absence here lead to still somehow ended with Sucre stepping on a land mine and Mahone getting chased by Company men, I don't blame you for worrying about what would happen if you were gone for the big finale.

Finally, that Roland character really didn't have much significance beside the whole device that can copy any info.  Other then that, he was an annoying jackass who seemed to go out of his way to deliberately piss off everyone, especially Lincoln and Mahone, who are like the last two in the group I would want to get on the bad side of, tries to use his device to steal from a casino and gets busted, and then basically throws a fit and turns on the group, after they ground his sorry ass (really, Michael was being generous by not turning him over to Self, but just having him stay out of any missions.)  And gets shot and killed by Wyatt for all of his troubles.  Idiot.

Mahone put a police badge into Bellick's casket? Did he get it at the toy shop? As far as I remember Bellick was never a cop, but a sadistic prison guard. Although there may have been some sob story of him wanting to be a cop and never living that dream. Boo effing hoo. And T-Bag was crying after him? What???

From what I remember, it was one of the badges that they stole when Michael, Linc, and Mahone when undercover as cops to steal one of the cards.

And, yep, there was a sob story about him wanting to be a cop, and that's how T-Bag tearing up came into play.  He was giving a grand speech to some bigwigs at Gate, and he start talking about "his friend" Bellick, who always wanted to be a cop, but never did, and how sad it was, blah blah blah, and suddenly he started tearing up.  You know, for the guy who at one point, actually tortured T-Bag by pulling out his stitches.  Granted, it's not like I'm throwing a pity party for T-Bag of all people, but I really can't believe he would see Bellick anywhere near that way after their history.

Really, the whole thing was nuts.  It's like the writers and cast got so caught up on being sad that Wade Williams was leaving, that it carried over onto the Bellick character and it made no sense.

And T-Bag's tears were real? I mean, I could get it if he did it to make an impact with the speech and achieve whatever goal he wanted. Then it makes sense. But real? I have a hard time buying him tearing up over his bio son's dead body, let alone Bellick's.

Up to Episode 14 now and it sure is... well, something.  Long story short, the team steals Scylla, but then Self steals it (after he kills Miriam.  Poor Shannon Lucio!  Every time I see you, you always end up getting "shockingly" killed off), and forces Gretchen and T-Bag to help him sell it.  Granted, they did have Michael steal a part of it before he handed it off, but it ended up not mattering, since Self just ends up getting it back, after he sneaks a device into the warehouse and sees where he is hiding it.  Sigh... no one can do filler and padding like Prison Break, I guess.

Meanwhile, Michael's evil magical tumor finally takes him down and he gets kidnapped by The Company, where The General basically claims he will give him the live-saving operation if Lincoln gets them Scylla back, which I'm sure he will do, because he will do anything for Michael.  The bond between the brothers is unbreakable to say the least.

Mahone tries to get help from his former FBI buddies, but after their attempt to steal Scylla failed, he looks like he is heading somewhere unpleasant.

The actual heist where they steal Scylla was actually kind of interesting, since it was dialogue free, due to everyone having to be silent throughout the entire thing.  It was fun watching them communicate and help each other out without being able to talk, and the four actors (Dom, Wentworth, Amaury, and The Fich) did a good job at it.

Hey, Mark Pellegrino!  He was the Gretchen's contact who set up the buy for Scylla!  He was awesomely snarky as always.  Too bad he had to get a bullet to the back.  I would have rather he played Self, with respect to Michael Rapaport.

Also, Raphael Sbarge shows up as a "Bible's salesman", who ends up actually being Company (maybe?), and takes out T-Bag.  Sbarge is admittedly go at flipping between nice guy and crazy villain with ease.

It's a little hard taking The General as a major baddie seriously, when after Lisa/his daughter/Stacy Haiduk turns in her resignation letter, all he can do his snarl an obviously petty "I wanted a son!" at her, to try and hurt her feelings.  What is he, twelve?

So, I'm getting the last half where I heard gets really dumb (and not in a good way), so I'm both excited and wary at the same time.

Well, I had apparently saw more episodes initially then I had thought, because I'm pretty sure it was episode sixteen when I had actually bailed.  Because I do remember now that the bros' mom ends up being alive (and played by Kathleen Quinlan), that Gretchen's exit (for now?) was anti-climatic, and that at one point, Michael was getting chased by Company goons in a buggy/golf cart, only for Sara to awesomely crash a car into them, which was only hampered by a few moments where you can obviously tell there were dummies in the cart (sure, I don't expect them to actually put any actors or stunt people in harm's way, but you could edited it a bit better, Prison Break!)  But now I'm getting into uncharted territory for me, so this is kind of fun!

I did love how The General pretty much saddled Linc with Gretchen, T-Bag, and Self as his new team.  It's pretty bad when you at a team like this and realize Gretchen is your best person and T-Bag isn't even the worst (because I think Self just sucks that badly.)  It's like the world's worst class assignment.  Heck, they've already got the perfect "teen flick" personalities: the mean girl (Gretchen), the obnoxious dweeb (Self), the creepy kid who just hangs in the back of the class room and pervs on everyone (T-Bag), and the well-meaning, but dumb jock (Linc.)  But the absolute best part was when Mahone showed up (he sure got from D.C. to Miami fast), and Linc looks at the guy who killed his dad and was basically "Oh, thank God, someone reasonable is here!" about it.  And I love how Mahone more or less took over too.  Heck, in my teen flick scenario, he pretty much became the put-upon teacher, trying to prevent everyone from just fucking up the classroom and acting like fools.  He might as well have been saying "For the last time, settle down and just do the fucking assignment!  Quit hitting on Linc, Gretchen!  Just cram it, Self!  And I swear to God, T-Bag!  If you draw one more penis on the blackboard, I will do worse then send you to detention!"  I love Alex Mahone so much!

And just like with Mark Pellegrino earlier, they get the awesome Titus Welliver here (as "Mom's" buyer), only to kill him off after two episodes.  Sigh...

So, basically, the final act is Christine/Mom is trying to make a play against The General for The Company?   Yeah, not wild about this.  And I really don't like the whole "Michael vs. Lincoln" thing they are going for.  I get the drama about watching two brothers pit against each other, but I'm not just buying it here."  I don't believe Linc would take The General at his word and just try and complete the mission, but I also don't understand why Michael was so shocked Linc took the deal in the first place.  He really had no choice, because Michael was going to die any second if he didn't.  I'm not saying it is right, but Linc will always do what he believes will protect his little brother, and I would think Michael would at least understand it, if not agree with it.  But it's like he can't even comprehend why Linc made that choice.  But I just want those two to quickly hug it out and quit this pettiness!

All that said, there are the small things they still do well, and in this case, it was when Michael broke into a car and Sara's made some playful remark about how Sucre influenced him.  Yes, he did!  Michael and Sucre = one of the best bromances of all time!

Up to episode 22 now and I believe that only leaves one left?  IMDB has two more listed, but I'm pretty sure Netflix just put both of them together, so I guess it was aired as a TV movie or something?  Equally surprised that episode 22 actually ends with Michael's "death"/tombstone.  I guess the TV movie is going to show how he actually dies?

Anyway, the last few episodes kind of blurred together.  Basically, Michael's mom was the worst, The General bellowed and yelled whenever something went wrong (which happened quite a bit), Shafe ends up jumping out of the hotel after The General order's his wife's death, Michael's Mom shoots Lincoln, T-Bag almost raped Sara (ugh), Michael has a face-off with his mom only for Sara to be the one to kill her, and plenty of twist and turns.  Yay?

But, hey: Sucre and C-Note return and, holy shit, it's Kellerman!  So, basically his original "death" was just an elaborate fake-out by the guys Aldo was working with, and they had recruited him this entire time.  And he somehow ends up being the person to actually give everyone their freedom.  Go figure.  Still, a fun return.

The biggest surprise was William Mapother showing up as the FBI agent who interrogated Self, Mahone, and Sucre, and somehow not being evil.

Final episode also does the whole "four years later" bit, which everyone has moved on.  Kellerman's a congressman, Mahone is now with Lang (there was always an attraction there, but it felt a bit weird after the past few episodes, he was "Pam this" or "Pam that"), Lincoln is living on the beach with Sofia (and L.J.'s in college?), and Sucre and C-Note are having good lives.  Meanwhile, Sara is taking care of Little Michael, and reunites with Linc, Mahone, and Sucre at, gasp!  Michael's tombstone!  Because he's dead, y'all!  Totally dead!

Almost there!  Will finish up the last one tomorrow and my watch will be complete!

Yeah, it was essentially two more episodes. It was released straight-to-DVD (as a "movie") in the U.S. But it actually did air internationally; I'm not sure which countries.

And yes, his 'death' is (kinda?) shown; although the audience can assume Michael died from his mysterious brain illness if they didn't watch the movie.

I did it!  My Prison Break rewatch/watch has finally been complete!

So, basically the TV movie was a Prison Break season starring Sara in the Linc/Michael role, as she is put in the slammer for killing Christine/Michael's mother, because no one knew about her connection to the Company, and the security camera just happen to only capture Sara pulling the trigger and didn't see that Christine was getting ready to shoot her own son.  So, Sara winds up in Miami prison and it has variations of all the classics!  Lori Petty shows up as "Daddy", who wielded the power that Abruzzi had, but had an attitude similar to T-Bag.  Gretchen was like Sara's Sucre, only not wanted but needed.  All the prison guards seemed to be Bellick, since they hated Sara because her helping Michael led to a bunch of Fox River guards getting fired? (That's news to me.  The way the second season made it look, it was only Pope and Bellick who got punished.  When Bellick ended up getting locked up later on, Patterson and the rest where still there.)  The even had a Haywire-ish crazy character that Sara ended up using to help her out.  At least Sarah Wayne Callie probably had fun, because she actually was more of the star in this one, compared to the bros.

Speaking of which, those two, Sucre, and Mahone team up and break her out.  They try to throw in some suspense by having Mahone briefly play double-agent for a bit with the FBI, but there was no suspense, because it Mahone had turned on them, there would have been no way he would have been anywhere near Michael's "grave" at the end of the last episode.

Meanwhile, The General and T-Bag are both in the men's prison near-by, and The General puts a hit on Sara because as it has been already established, the guy is the pettiest man on the planet, and was all for blowing away his last few dollars to spite Michael.  Loved that it just wounded up in Sara's hands at the end.  And T-Bag snitches on the team (which they predicted) and finds himself in solitary.  Ha!

Michael's death is really weird now, knowing it was all a fake-out thanks to season five.  So, did Jacob already approach/blackmail Michael before the wedding? Or did he do it in the small timeframe between the wedding and the prison break?  Or maybe I'm just thinking about it too hard, because it was really just a major recon, because they realized they screwed up?

Glad I've finally seen the entire series now.  Overall, the first season is still my favorite and the second one wasn't too far behind.  Surprisingly, I think I rank the fourth one over the third, because at least the whole Scylla heist plan had almost all the regulars interacting with each other and, as goofy as it was, at least they were trying something new, while the third season just felt like a cheap version of the first season, only in a sunnier location and Michael has to break out a boring Australian dude, instead of his brother.  Still, a definite decrease in quality between the first two and last two seasons.  Still, I'm glad I finally got a chance to finish it!

I don't remember exactly which season it was, but sometime after the first season there was a spin-off in (pre-)development, set in a women's prison tentatively titled "Prison Break: Cherry Hill". (ew) Anyway, that never went anywhere, but apparently some of the ideas for that ended up in these these episodes. The central character would be a woman who was somehow imprisoned by the company (I think...?), and there were going to be scenes on the original show to set up the new series.

I wish the TWoP forums hadn't been deleted, because there was documentation of those scenes, from the Fox recaps.

One one hand, cool! On the other, some things I wish that they had disappeared into an internet black hole!

Anyway, I found the threads for the spinoff and the character that was supposed to be the lead:
