S01.E03: Wanna Play A Game?

Recommended Posts

I was sooo incredibly disappointed that Riley died, she was truly one of the (extremely) few characters that was interesting and I kind of like, now well, I really don't care who else dies at this point.  Meh....

Besides that, Riley's death had the potential to be truly gruesome and I was really disappointed it didn't go as far, I thought when she crawled on to the skylight and was still struggling to breathe, the killer should have run up, kept stabbing her and stomped her body on the skylight until it breaks and Riley falls through it and crash on the floor the janitor was cleaning, now THAT would be truly grotesque and indicative of Scream, also the way the killer moves annoys me, I kept thinking of the movies where the killer was always so fast and jumpy and out of nowhere, but this killer is taking his time, moving so slow and sluggish.

Would something like that even be allowed on MTV? It would be right at home in the movies, but shy of HBO, I don't think that is going to pass many TV station S&P.

He knew he had Riley trapped, so he added to her fear by slowly sliding the knife along the fence.  That worked for me.

I brought up the possibility of Brandon James (or his older brother) having a kid because that was a major plot point of Harper's Island, I know how these TV producers love to recycle plot points.

Show runner worked on Harper's Island, to boot.

So far we've had 3 girls and one guy die. And two of those girls were minorities. I mean but OKAY whatever. Moving on.

The woman who plays Emma has a BA in acting from Yale. Someone should refund her. She is NOT a good actress. And her character is this weird amalgam of every annoying lead character on every CW/WB show released in the last 20 years. Self-involved, obnoxiously sweet and utterly dead-eyed.

Riley's death was brutal, not because I cared about her all that much but because it was a young girl given a very brutal death. It felt a little too real.

That said, I think they should rename this show Lukewarm: The Series. Even with a serial killer and a mystery everything lacks a sense of urgency. Bah.

This brings up something.

The beginning of episode two established it had been four days since Nina had been killed. There was no established passage of time that I recall between episodes two to three, and in the promo for episode 4, aside from the extra crispy state, Tyler's body looked amazingly well perserved

I found it very WTF-y that there was no adult following Emma up on the roof when she went up there after seeing Riley's body sprawled on the skylight.  I know a lot of the cops were tracking 'Tyler' but shouldn't someone other than a 16 year old go up and see if they could, I don't know, help?

Someone could've been coming behind her I guess but I kept expecting her mom to come up to the roof as well.  Especially because she has medical training.

I know this is only a television show but am I the only one who has a problem with these stupid things.

Emma just waltzes around and into the morgue, hello, couldn't that be grounds for a lawsuit for someone. They could say things were not secured or had been tampered with. Mom or not, protocols!

And a big WTF. When Riley leaves the police station to meet Tyler, supposedly, it's totally empty. Do they really just leave under age teenage civilians all alone in a precinct.

Rolled my eyes so hard at some of the stupid shit think I sprained an eye socket. I am sticking it out though because I loved Bex Taylor - Klaus in "The Killing."

I really hope all the boys but Noah bite it. Actually, the teacher's ok too, as long as Brooke gets murdered as well. Because if they keep killing off the more interesting characters (and stop just killing off the females, goddamnit! Because Tyler's death was more of a plot device to use him, and flashback boy we didn't really see much of...), I'm gonna quit this show. I know I'm months behind a lot of people, but I'm thisclose in looking up spoilers to see who dies next.

Emma's stupid. I hate when horror characters get dumb just for plot reasons. I actually hate when any character gets dumb for plot reasons, or because the writers really want lies and secrets to drag out. Woohoo, so Emma, your mom didn't tell you about the heart thing. You haven't told her all about being in contact with the killer thing.

I only know the other boys' names because of here.

Also, it would have been much better if we didn't know Tyler wasn't already dead, because the suspense is not killing me. On the other hand, it's nice that they are telling us up front that this isn't Tyler and Tyler can't be the killer.

Also, oh my god, I don't give two shits about Doucheface #1 and #2's porn business. GO. AWAY. AND. DIE.
