I liked Phylthy with Ronan too.  He had the kind of masculinity she needed.  Nick is too much of a frat boy and Jack, well Aunt Jack just doesn't strike me as very manly..

I would love to see Sharin' with RA.  She has great chemistry with him. They always put her with either Trog or some old guy- we get it she has daddy issues.

LOL I love the name Phylthy. It makes me laugh every time I see it. Aunt Jack  just does not do it for me so I sure can't blame Phyllis for not wanting to go there.  And Dickolaus is such a lame ass pussy that I just don't understand why they write it that Sharin and Phyllis lose their mind over this loser. He has no appeal at all. He is such a wimp.

Sharin needs something different. I really want to see her with someone non Newman or like you said NOT an old man. Time for her to move on. I really like the chem between RA and SC tho. They made a huge mistake in casting. She should be in an older woman younger man story at this point in her life.. not chasing after Nick. She needs to remember how he dumped on her time after time.

I tried to like Jack and Phyllis the last time around too, but it just did not work for me. She wasn't in love with him.

All the writing pointed to Phyllis being in love with Jack. MS was steadily working against script, saying lines in a sarcastic tone and leering at JM even where her character was telling him she wished him well and was moving on with her life. MS was sulking because she wanted to pseudo fuck her buddy Jeff Branson or JM or anyone who could showcase her hawt and sexay body. That's why Phack didn't work well the last time around.

If Phyllis was NOT in love with Jack, why did she move in with him? Why did she (in her head for the viewers to hear) accept Jack's marriage proposal? Why did she express to Avery more than once that she was in love with Jack (though in MS's bullshit sarcastic tone)? Why has the show written Jack to be pining for her for 9 months if they were not supposed to be in love with each other? And why has Nick expressed his sympathy for Jack and his loss?

MS said the show didn't try to keep her when she announced she wanted to leave. Gee, wonder why.

I was a huge Phick fan until Nick kissed Sharon in Paris. I jumped off real quick. I think Nick is the biggest douche bag in the way he deals with the women in his life. He is so disrespectful and cruel . He does not give a shit how he hurts them , it is all about what Nick wants.. The biggest loser is the one who ends up with Nick. He is no prize..

Personally, I would have loved to see RA ( Noah) to come in as a totally unrelated character and for him and Sharon to have had a true younger older story. I think they look good together and I think their chemistry is great.. and I liked Ronan and Phyllis.. hated her with jack the second time around..  too much water under the bridge... and I am not into couple bouncing back and forth with each other.. Never understood that , when it is over .. it is over.. and I like when they keep it that way.

I don't think the writing showed that Phyllis was in love with Jack.. she was settling. But the way I saw it  written was that she was still in love with Nick. Then the dog got with her sister.

This is true. Phyllis had a similar obsession with Nick like she had with Danny years ago. So it definitely felt like she was just settling for Jack, because she couldn't be with Nick at the time. I have a feeling we're going to see this when she returns.

I post this here because what's less popular than Muhney with so many.

But curious, has anybody hear anything suggested about what's become of him since the Christmas Time Massacre? I'm just curious to see if it all turns out to be fatal for his career or just one of those things. It was all terribly Icarus but I wonder if he got burned to a crisp by it or singed enough to smarten up in the long run.

Thanks Canadian. :)

Something else that confirms for me that the writing was telling us Phyllis was in love with Jack was how others talked about them. Summer was pleased Phyllis was happy and cherished by Jack. She even told Phyllis she hoped for that kind of love. Nick often talked about Phyllis and Jack as well and how it was "inevitable" they'd hook up again. And the publicity for the show: PB and MS had 40th anniversary pics taken together as a "couple," they did a live chat together, they were coupled in the 40th anniversary promo. Even MS in her "one on one for the 40th" stated Phyllis is totally in love with Jack now.

IMO she came across not over Nick because MS couldn't deal with no longer being the sexay leading lady to the beefcake.

I'm convinced those final weeks of Phyllis being in a coma were to shut MS down and let PB play the love for the both of them. This way they could set things up for the recast, who will presumably respect the writers and her costar.

That's what I think too miamama.  I say it worked out for all of us.  MS didn't have to lower herself to act against the lowly Peter Bergman *I know, right?*, PB doesn't have to carry the full weight of the story line, and most of all we viewers are free of the Stafford Infection on Y&R.  I hope PB gets an actress playing Phyllis who is worthy of playing opposite him.

I like CW as Kelly and like the character. I like her interactions with Jack/PB. Yeah I know she has a melted face but she does "holding the crazy just below the surface" excellently! I still remember when she first came on the scene and she was just an ordinary nurse on GL...UNTIL SHE WASN'T! And we the viewers got to see the crazy but the other characters didn't, at first. I put CW right up there with the actress who played Patty last. Can't for the life of me remember her name right now. It takes a certain something to do normal/crazy. I am looking forward to them continuing this character with Cady soon.

Another unpopular opinion I have is.....I don't think every single character has to have a connection to the core group. I would like to see more unrelated to the family characters. I think it would solve some of the problems with stories. There could be a beginning, middle, end and then the character would be gone.

stewed I like CW just fine also.  I have never seen her in any other role so I can't comment on that.  Her melty face can be distracting but I think she's a good actress and brings something different to Y&R.  I have no idea who Cady is but I think it's dumb to recast Kelly - she's not that essential IMO.

I also agree that not everyone needs to be connected to core characters - they have done this so many times that a lot of newbies are now core characters - stupid and makes me lose interest.

I warmed to CW when I watched her Youtube shows on her Twitter account. Actually I just watched one. I think they are called Cynthia Watros is Lost or something like that. She did them when she wasn't working for a period and she just makes fun of herself.

I don't hate her either. I don't like how they are writing for her. But mostly I think she's a good actress who got thrown into a bad situation. The melty face is odd but I like that she looks like she's been through the ringer.

I also think she has a nice chemistry with PB. Looking forward to seeing Cady. I quite liked her as Rosanna Cabot (that's all I've seen her do). She has a maturity and warmth about her that should be good for the role.

Funny how we can all watch the same scenes and come out feeling so different about the scenes. I guess that is why eye witnesses are so unreliable LOL

To me Phyllis was not written as loving Jack but as just settling for Jack. I think she was written that she still loved Nick.

I don't like MM but I don't wish him ill thoughts. My hope is that he is reading So You're a Narcissist: This Book is All About You, How to Change That Way of Thinking. I do think that his biggest problem is that he is a narcissist. And in my opinion, you just can't help people with those tendencies. He needs a very good therapist. Especially since he is also a highly intelligent jackass to boot.

I don't think there is one actor that isn't a narcissist. Seriously, I have been exposed to this while living in LA and it's what made them actors in the first place. I'm sure MM has been changed by all of this, but Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, the entire cast of Y&R has the same disease. Braeden's twitter account is a prime example of narcissism unleashed, LOL. MTS is too. These people live in another world that caters to them and they just think they are better than the "great unwashed". MM's problem was that he wouldn't cow tow to EB's ego and MM's ego butted up against the old man's. It's an old Hollywood story. It's been discussed and talked about for years, but Y&R's BTS drama has been ugly and toxic long before MM ever darkened the doors at CBS' Television City. I'm sad because MM's Adam was terrific TV to me, but as they say, nothing lasts forever.

William Russ. This video shows his first episode.

I like him too.  Although I am surprised how Stephen Nichols did keep some of the mannerisms (scarves and all)  now that I see William Russ again.  He had great chemistry with Jill but of course that was ruined.  What the heck was JT doing back then?  It's so hard to keep track!

I believe MM gave as good as he got in regards to EB. And based on his behavior on twitter it seemed like he had issues with several other cast members. I doubt they were all decided to band together and attack him. If he wasn't liked I'm willing to believe he's at least partially to blame for that, and this is coming from someone who generally liked him. I wish he knew when to keep his mouth shut and hands to himself if those allegations are true.

I love Chelsea. She brought me back to the show and I'm pretty much just watching for her. I have been a fan of Melissa Claire Egan since her days as CrazyAnnie on AMC. I like that Chelsea is deeply flawed, she has done terrible things but she also has a great capacity for good as well. She has chemistry with everyone, including block of wood known as Steve Burton. She also made me care about Cane for the first time ever when briefly shared scenes. I just love her and it makes me sad that that's an unpopular opinion :(.

I agree Crosby, I felt the same way.  I loved his portrayal of Sheriff Lamb on VM, and it took me a while to get used to him playing Adam.  But the more I read his Twitter, the more I disliked him.  To me, he gave off a vibe that he thought he was above it all.  Above Y&R, above his fans, and especially above anyone who dared to not share his opinion.

LOL! Yes, he's quite the master of emoting. Maybe his character should go crazy from PTSD again - give us a little excitement. I really liked Chelsea with Adam. But this fashion designer nonsense has to stop.

I don't know if this is unpopular, but I don't give two toots about the Winters clan. Any of them, and that includes people in the WintersSphere like Leslie. The only one I sort of care about is Lily, and that is "caring" in the sense of hating her so much I have to FF through most of her scenes. When she had her cancer scare a while back (the scare that lasted all of two days) I was chanting "Please die, please die, please die."

Okay, I'll put it out there--unreclaimed Stephen Nichols fan here: I did like his Tucker. Did I think he made anything extraordinary out of the role as written? No. He was a bit better toward the end, but as a sorta Richard Branson or whatever, it wasn't a particularly well written part. I liked his chemistry with Jeanne Cooper--mind you, she had chemistry with a coffee table.

I guess I miss him as a kind of soap staple...

I haven't really care about the Winters since Drucilla fell off the cliff. I absolutely loved VR/Drucilla. I loved her campyness and scenery chewing. I remember that she was very well liked at YR and then also on that medicine show she was doing simultaneously. She was talked about in glowing terms on the medicine show. She wanted to branch out more at YR, behind the scenes. I can't remember the details but she quit because of it (I think that is why she quit, or was she fired?). She was kind of trashed after that because she went full on with YR about why she wasn't allowed to write (or maybe it was direct, I seem to think it WAS writing) and burned some bridges. But still, I have never heard a harsh word about her from the other shows she did, just YR. But I loved her character and her so I wish she would come back.

ITA about Drucilla, although it never fails to crack me up when her storyline is summed up with "... and then she fell of a cliff."

I believe VR didn't so much write the scripts as go over them and give changes for the plot and dialogue, so basically directing the character. It was indulged for a while but I guess got nixed when she wanted to full-on write her scenes and Bill Bell passed away. I don't think even EB gets to write his scenes. Thinking about Drucilla makes me nostalgic for Mamie. *sigh*

I can't stand Jack anymore. He's completely useless. He drones on and on about his beloved Adam, when he has three other kids he barely seems to think about. I don't blame Phyllis for looking bored with him.

I did get a kick out of Victor giving Jack a hard time about "his son" complete with air quotes every time he said it.

Jack frequently bugs me because of the way PB shouts his lines and enunciates every syllable. He sounds like Ted Baxter.

The rivalry with Victor is getting old for me, and that's not good considering it's one of the show's central, enduring story lines.  Jack really needs something else to do (and by that I do not mean popping oxy).

At my house we called that show Dr. Dick. Even taped an episode and wrote that on the label, only to be embarrassed by it later when a guest thought it was porn.

I have watched YR for a lonnnnnng time, and there has been so much wrong with the show in the past couple of years, it's hard to know where to begin. I love the show, but it needs a major retool, and the writing team just has no idea right now. It's brutal to watch the steaming turd that uncoils each week on our tv's.

Currently, one of the major problems is that three major actors have departed the show in the past year or so, and TPTB have essentially alienated viewers. Michael Muhney, Billy Miller, and Michelle Stafford. Now, I have to say before I start, I have criticisms of each of these actors; none "made" the show on their own, but there is a noticeable gap with all of them gone now. Muhney admirably rolled in and made the role of Adam his own; Chris Egan's Adam couldn't hold a candle to MM's Adam. However, his backstage "attitude" was clearly a problem. He also relied a bit too much on the snark, but overall, he elevated the show and shaped a solid character. Billy Miller started, it seemed to me, portraying the character as a lightweight. Indeed, my nickname for him was Sir Mugs A Lot, what with all his mugging for the camera. Slowly, he emerged as a better actor, and eventually, before his departure, had made the character his own also. I'm sorry, but David Tom stepping back in has been a complete and unmitigated failure. BM's Billy was believable and grew into his role. DT has turned the character into a whiny, sad mess. BM is sorely missed. Michelle Stafford, while also shaping the character of Phyllis into her own, managed to completely ruin the character for months leading up to her departure. The over the top histrionics, hand waving, and scenery chewing tainted just about every scene she was in. Her overbearing presence in scenes with other actors her character was pitted against just ruined entire segments, and her hollering over other people is almost as bad as Eric Braeden reading his lines from a Blackberry! The show badly needs MM and BM back....the jury is still out on MS' presence being required, but her scenery chewing not being present has not had a noticeable effect, IMO. I think it's very telling that the flow of the show actually improved in the short time after her departure. As for her post-YR career, well, the web series she's in is unfunny and pointless. And before folks start saying, "oh, she won an award for her web series", they need to put that phrase into perspective. Winning an award for a web series is no great feat. No one really cares, and MS needs to be honest - she WILL be back doing Soaps once the cash dries up. She can pretend all she likes like she's somehow above the whole thing, but it's her bread and butter, and what people know her from. And as far as prime time? She's not a good enough actress to make it there, either. She'll be back, albeit probably not on YR.

There are other problems as well. I'm just too tired at the moment to list them. :)

Ugh. The character of Jack was/is much too good for Dumpster Diver Diva Phyllis. Ol' Jack Sprat needs to move past The Big Red Machine and find true lerve! :)

As for MS saying the show didn't try to keep her, I think it's obvious they called her bluff. The show has been just fine without her character.

I was a bit sad that Phyllis' character exited on such a lame note, though. That tumble down the stairs was RIDICULOUS! It was also badly acted by MS. The character deserved a better send off, based on the time put into the character alone. That being said, of course, I don't miss her. :)

MS was a main character on the show for years so I'm sure she has enough money saved to last awhile. And I like her show.

I'm glad there are fans of the show, and more power to you!

I honestly tried to give it a chance, and I watched all the eps available, but it was like watching paint dry. I find it hilarious that MS thought this would be the next big thing for her, though. The writing is worse than YR by a country mile, and as someone who enjoys wry humour, and indeed, humour in general, this fails abysmally. To each their own, I suppose.

And yes, I'm sure MS has enough money saved to last her awhile, but I predict she'll be doing soaps again. Because unless her web series hits big, which I find highly unlikely, she'll find that nobody really cares about her show. Praise from a few people ain't gonna pay the bills, and that award that she got from the Holiday Inn Web Series Awards isn't exactly making her the toast of Hollywood!

Nonetheless, it should be interesting to see what projects she chooses next. Very few soap actors/actresses can move between soaps and movies/prime time series.

I agree, but the long term coma thing is quite soapy :) I'm going to go off topic here, but the lamest of the lame exit was Taylor on The Bold & the Beautiful.  She got into an argument with Eric Forrester in the bedroom, walked out in her pajamas, and *poof* gone!  I heard Hunter Tylo was a bit unpleasant behind the scenes, but in punishing her, they punished the fans of the show by letting a major long term character leave in such a stupid way...and I'm saying this as someone who was never a fan of that character.

Maybe this leads to an on-topic unpopular opinion...I really don't care about behind the scenes drama.  If it weren't for social media, odds are drama, egos, discord, etc wouldn't be all that well known.  So to me, give me a good actor & I'll watch.  I mean, from what I've seen on Twitter, MM isn't somebody I'd want to hang out with, but I thought he made a decent Adam.

I'm not sure if this is unpopular, or if this opinion has a multiple personality, but I'm not really a fan of MS & her acting style, yet at the same time I miss her as Phyllis.

I noticed on her twitter a while back (went there to see if she commented on the MM firing) she made an angry tweet about people who criticize writing should try to get in a room together and see what they come up with (I'm paraphrasing). The old "I don't need to do better because you couldn't" defense. Congrats to her on winning that award, I guess, but the defensiveness is grating. Didn't realize she was a Scientologist, but that explains using the Fort Hood shooting to take a swipe at psychiatric medicine.

I did like her as Phyllis, though, so count me in with the unpopulars. All that scheming and opportunism... I thought she played it well. None of the other characters have stepped up to the plate. Maybe this is where they were going with Kelly?
