I was also surprised that Dora made up the story but even more surprised that Buddy didn't use that as a reason not to give her the money back.

He'd already given her the money back at that point.  He won the Bingo and won the money he needed to pay back (part of) the loan from the blonde prostitute whose name escapes me at the moment.

It's a sitcom, most of it amusing or funny.  Nice summer show, but I can't see it lasting past a season.  On the other hand, it's on TVLand, and I could easily be mistaken.

No I meant that when Dora came and asked him for the money (before he gave it back to her), I would have thought he would have seen an opportunity to stall and say, how do I know your not lying to me about the trip. Or make Dora produce proof that there really was a trip.

I am reasonably sure they have announced a renewal.

For Season Two, I wonder if Buddy could be a little bit less of a dick?

I can see the attempts to soften the character with moments like telling Dora she was always a hero. But using one parishioner because she'll be an easy lay, exploiting the gay guy's feelings to get a safe hideaway and scoffing at the notion of a relationship with a prostitute--who's helped him plenty--tip the scale way too far toward "Jerk."

In Happy, Texas, the movie managed to pull off two con men stumbling into a similar situation and taking advantage of people, while still keeping them likable.

Ha.  I'm sour through the whole Gaffigan/Buddy hour.  I should just go take a nice walk instead.

My DVR cut off right when Buddy was at the pulpit and the bad guy was standing in the back of the room.  What happened?

Buddy created a diversion by asking the congreation to hug each other and then running out and to his home. He picked up his fake passport and a bag, with the bad guy in hot pursuit, when the two detectives show up and seem to know he is buddy and tell him they are arresting him for the death of the pastor.  And fade to black.

I liked it. I do think Buddy is a dick and I hope they soften him just a tad, but I did think he seemed softened in this episode and really seemed like he was going to miss them all.  I guess he does need some selfishness and inappropriateness or it wouldn't be funny.

1. People keep saying it was murder.  If somebody threatens you with a gun, there is a strugle and the gun goes off it is self defence, not murder.

2. People keep saying that the writing is not good.  If you want Shakespeare, turn off the tv.

3. People keep saying the plots are not believable.  Are Charlie Harper, Sheldon Cooper or Maxwell Smart or the plots in their shows believable?

I find the show amusing and look forward to the next episodes.

I've defintely seen that joke used before, but I can't for the life of me remember where I've seen it.

A porn movie maybe?

A show like "Girls" perhaps?

One of the other. Can't say it's likely been done on Network TV (vs. cable).

I do think I've seen it in movies, not TV. Sex comedies. I'm sure something with "National Lampoon" on the front of a movie title did it at some point.

In the second season premiere, Buddy tries to outwit detectives, but his plan backfires. Also: Dora, Alexa and Russell become suspicious of their new pastor and Schmidt learns the truth about Ashlee.
