Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

If I am not mistaken, and I am going off a memory from an episode years ago, but weren’t some of the Bates kids and even Duggar kids, volunteer First Aid Squad.

I know here in NJ a lot of the First Aid Squads are volunteer and there is training that they receive in order render certain type of triage care.

I wish I knew what to think about this whole situation. I was part of a volunteer first aid group 10 years or so ago (SJA represent!) and IF that's the kind of training they have and the work they do, then yes, they may in fact be making themselves useful. The thing is, the group I was working with was well over a hundred years old, well known and their role was well established (apparently in case of major disaster, we would be called up after the military reserve, but before the scouts). A lot of the people in my group were either current military, ex military or future paramedics, so they had experience in hard core situations. I worry that just rushing in with some training, no official standing  and a lot of arrogance about your own importance may contribute as much to the chaos as it solves. (Plus Haiti is largely Catholic and Voodoo, so I hope they're not thinking of selling the correct Jesus to any of their "patients" while they're doing their "medical things", to quote Jill Dill).

Like @satrunrose, I wonder how Medic Corp gets involved. Did they somehow get themselves on a list of available help? Do they have contacts on the US side of things? Do they find out what Fundy plants are in other countries and reach out to them and have them get them approved in times of need?

I also wonder how thoroughly 'teams with planes' are vetted.

These guys did skydiving and scuba diving as part of their “training.” That tells me all I need to know about how serious they are, and the level of help they are able to give. If they are just delivering things like water, tents, etc. and letting official aid organizations with real training and emergency plans distribute, great, that’s helpful. Showing up and doing random things that they are not truly qualified to do is a different story.

Carlin Bates hasn't posted or done an IG story since Joy's visit. Very unlike her. Wonder what's up. I also wonder when she'll be picking up their dog from training camp.

And sorry JillR, not buying you pay any attention to your dog.

Jill, perhaps the dog's breath is bad because its teeth need cleaned. Every time I see their dog it makes me mad. As a long time dachshund owner/lover, I know that dog is not getting the care it deserves. Many of my doxies have needed annual dental cleanings despite my brushing their teeth at home and being cautious about the food they ate.

The R children aren't properly cared for, so I hold no hope the dog is either. Jill is despicable and arrogant enough to flaunt her ignorance on social media constantly.

It’s supposed to be 6 weeks. If the date of  her post was the actual date , July 19, then I’d guess the end of next week.

She just posted a story.  Basically they were busy and took a few days off.  A lot of people asked if they were ok and she was touched by that.  She said she felt like her days were pretty much all the same and didn't think people wanted to see the same stuff over and over.

Honestly if she feels the need to take a day off now and then that's fine.

ETA: She also said they were missing the dog and counting the days until they pick her up.  I swear she must read here. ;)

Let's be real, this is the primary purpose of their trip. That and feel good instagram posts.

Here's hoping those badge and gun-toting assholes don't get away with their bullshit.

It's pretty clear on the Medic Corps website that medical help comes with a good dose of proselytizing.

So they aren't helping to just help, they are helping to convert. And if someone refuses, to they walk away from them?

I was going to post the same thing about that poor little dog's breath. I'm positive Jill does not ever have that dog's teeth cleaned nor does she take it to the vet when needed. We had a little long haired weiner dog. I inherited her at marriage. Her breath was smelly too as my husband didn't ever brush her little teeth OR have them cleaned. I took care of her every day; like she was a baby, washed her face, brushed her teeth the peanut butter flavored doggie toothpaste, wiped her little hiney clean, brushed her and sprayed baby power scent doggie deodorant on her. She looked great and was healthy. I also gave her baths, trimmed her nails and nice haircuts too. She lived to be 18...miss you, sweet little Zoey.

On topic here, Jill needs to make sure that little dog is taken care of and gets it's teeth cleaned....at the VET's office.

Medic Corps made the NBC news tonight in the Haiti coverage.  They weren't mentioned but a Medic Corps person (maybe Lawson?) was transporting someone on a gurney.

Someone saw Lawson interviewed on FOX News earlier today.

As for the parasailing, that outfit runs $89/person. And the boat says tips are appreciated (sure Jill ignored that). So, almost $400 to hoist four of them up in the air (18 and over only).

I don't normally frequent this thread but I came here when I heard NPR (All Things Considered) air some comments from Nathan (?) Bates (they said he was from Medic Corps and from Arkansas--not sure if Nathan is the right name as I try to avoid the Duggars' sweet friends). He said they were evacuating people and "doing intel." Sure.

And from their constant reading/quoting of the Correct KJV Bible we get odd constructions such as “She answers not again when we insult her.” (No doubt precisely what she expects of the kids—just take it, wilt, know how inferior you are to Best Mama Ever and Gut with Ears when we insult you.)

I wonder why Phillip didn't do it. It would have been a nice 18th birthday present. But noooooo.... Timbits went up with BEST MAMA instead.

I just watched NBC nightly news with Lester Holt.  They showed a snippet of people loading a stretcher into an Army helicopter and I swore I saw a guy wearing a Medic Corp t-shirt, with the EKG logo that is shown on their website.

I looked at the MediCorp website and it was definitely not their logo.

eta: as usual, I am days later than everyone else!

Evacuating where? You know they wouldn’t want them in the US. And WTH is “intel?”

Would you accept a few free samples of plexus instead? Or a chicken leg that David could not shove down his pie hole?

Too bad Jill didn’t drop her phone and break it.

Those sad Rodbots are trained seals by now. Yasss perform for MAMA Jill.

Isn’t Snuggles the dog they left behind on one of the Stink Bus tour stops and didn’t even realize it?  And then didn’t even come back to get her from the people who found her until about a week later?  Sorry, Jill, but that is NOT loving your dog.

Timbits can certainly teach us sluttish heathens a Godly lesson on modesty from that angle. Thank you Rods for being our models in all things. 😂

Yes, Snuggles was lost in WA after they'd just dropped off Timbits at Moody. She was located via a FB group. Jill got her sorry ass GRILLED on that page.

So Jill is admitting that David as Head of House cannot keep them fed clothed and holidayed so she needs to work to fill in the shortfall?

Maybe in normal times that's true. But with all that mad money from the "socialistic" government, Jill can spend her mad money on parasailing.

Somebody had mentioned JillR should try cozying up to the Plaths for some fame. Well in addition to 3 out of the 4 oldest going mainstream, the 4 remaining girls at home, now wear pants.

It seems to me that these hardcore Fundy families are getting fewer and farther in between. Its up to the likes of Anna, Priscilla and Kendra now to see if they can even produce the numbers, never mind keeping them in the fold.

I do wonder what the future holds for the Rod kids. Will they go the way of Tim and double down after being exposed to the real world? Or maybe one or two of the girls will marry into less conservative families and start dressing sluttish.

It seems like social media has made it easier to brainwash mass amounts of people to vote a certain way. They don’t need to raise entire generations overbreeding to meet their social goals anymore.  Big families, and quiver full in general was a political movement. It’s time may be passing. Although they were always be big families to used to keep religions afloat
