Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Jill’s new dining room table reminds me of my childhood.  After extending our living room to create more space for our growing family (5 kids at the time), my parents were unable to afford a dining room table for the space.

So, in order to fill the space, my parents bought a new picnic table with benches.  We used that table for several years, until about 3 years (and 2 more children) later, when they bought a dining room table, chairs and china closet.

Perhaps that would have been a solution for Jill Rod.  Two picnic tables would have made a large enough space for all of them to sit down for dinner.

We used a picnic in the dining room when I was a child, too.  It was not that we had a large family, but rather that my parents bought the picnic table when they were first married.  That was all they could afford at the time.  It moved with us to three states and was always in the dining room. That picnic table is now 70 years old and is still on the patio at the house.  The could eventually afford dining furniture.

One of the most damning things to me about Nurie's weight is the collective thinness of ALL the Rod kids. Until they leave home like Tim did. He immediately gained weight and it would not surprise me if he loses now that he is home. I had a friend who was naturally very thin with q delicate frame and people assumed she had an eating disorder (she didn't), so if one of the Rod kids was just unusually thin, okay. It happens. (I'm on the opposite end because I inherited my dad's sturdy build and have shoulders and calves like a linebacker. I have stouter shoulders than most men and my calf muscles are bigger than their biceps. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Even when I was "skinny," I was 150 pounds at 5'4". According to a BMI chart, I was overweight but I wasn't. I'm severely overweight now but that's another story.)

But all of them are that skinny? That's because they're being starved by their c*** mother and father.

@Zella we have the same sturdy little brick shithouse build! When I weighed 145 (my thinnest weight as an adult, and I’m 5’3.5”) I could fit into a size 5-7 jeans. Which tripped me out because I was like “...how?” 🤷🏼‍♀️

People like Jill's pastor want to be charitable Christians and give to the less fortunate just as long as the less fortunate are like-minded individuals.  They don't want to give any money to someone who could possibly use that money to fund a lifestyle that might be considered unbibical.  You know, the gays, single mother who are out whoring it up, drug addicts, alcoholics, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, atheists, etc.  The easiest way to ensure that their money is being used for godly causes is to only give to families like the Rods.  Jill knows this and exploits it.  That's why they tour the country visiting churches.  Those churches feed the Rods, pass the plate, and then feel good knowing they did the right thing and Jesus is happy.

i don't believe the long table would have fit in their old home. so they never had one.

so surely the 2 old dining room tables and chairs, as well as the table and chairs that were shown in the listing pics of the Barndominimum, and have been shown being used by the Rods are being passed on to smaller families in need right?? (heaviest sarcasm)

nurie and nathan are probably getting one. then there are the not Nuries on the market so that is how it will most likely play out.  "Nurie just always loved one of our dining tables...".blah, blah

The best part of the table photo is the SIX EXTRA MOST BESTEST pizzas. Considering how little the girls eat, and nobody is visibly eating anyway, how many meals does six big pizzas make for this group? Of course, Shrek probably consumes two in one sitting, so there's that. Jill's trolling us with food porn again.

Benches are uncomfortable and hard to climb into a floor-length denim skirt. I'm sure Jill and David have the chairs at the end.

I’ve got a feeling that the pastor brought the pizzas along with the table/benches.  I don’t know what would make me think such a thing...😒

That grey "brick" wainscoting is either Contact paper or she made the graduating kids stencil it as their math requirement.

Sorry, and I'm really trying to be nice......but Nathan hit the Fundy jackpot, looks-wise, with Nurie , even with the rat's nesty hair, frumpy-dump clothes,  and ten dollars worth of LALooks (Dollar Tree) make-up.

Good! There are worse things these same churches could be doing with the money.

Does it say in the Bible to take away the rights of "sinners" who have "evil" sex? Like isn't that taking judgement of others a step too far, even in the name of Christianity?

How is allowing someone to keep their job, get married, buy a wedding cake and obtain health services a bad thing, even if you don't agree with their 'life style'?

Well, channeling all these horrible people here: It's a life style that's exactly the same as taking a nail studded glove and repeatedly slapping the baby Jesus across the face with it a thousand times.

Nobody needs that many photos from their wedding on display. That's practically the entire wedding album on the wall.

Well, to be fair, there are pictures from the vow renewal too! /s

I am trying to figure out how the nursery and master bathroom connect to this room.

Steve Maxwell is such a good grandfather that he spends time with oldest grandson also with maybe his granddaughters, but Steve like sons and grandsons. His whole dad lessons this week is about fathers and sons.  He has whole series about Leaving A Godly Legacy. The first two parts were about making sure your children (both genders) love Jesus. The third part is that as a man, you need to be a confident particularly towards your wife. Here is the Fourth Part:

God inspired many Scripture authors to use the expression “son of” over 1,600 times throughout the Bible. God is purposeful and does nothing by accident. Notice that reading “son of” links the person/identity of father/mother to the son? Let’s briefly consider the need to be purposeful in influencing our children for good, because after we are gone, that impression lives on.

Benaiah, one of David’s mighty men, walked in his father Jehoida’s footsteps. “And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts. . .” (2 Samuel 23:20).

David’s heart and life impacted Solomon for good. “And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly” (2 Chronicles 1:1).

Sadly, our negative example is far easier for our children to catch than our good one due to our sin nature. First look at David: “And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem. . .” (2 Samuel 5:13).

Now see what his son does. “And he (Solomon) had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father” (1 Kings 11:3-4).

Next, consider God’s timing and purpose for the mention of Judas’ father. “And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him” (John13:2). Might the mention here of Judas being Simon’s son infer some role of negative influence Simon had in Judas’ life? I wonder.

Jill has put up a petition on FB regarding the "evil." She is claiming persecution. Raise your hand if you're surprised.

*crickets*

Why is Jill worried about the SCOTUS ruling?  It’s not like the “printing business” is going to be hiring employees, her kids don’t go to public school, and they aren’t going to rent any houses to anyone. If she’s worried about the “evil” infecting her church, churches have always been able to hire based on their beliefs. That’s why you don’t see women suing to become Catholic priests. But, this kind of logical thinking is WAY beyond Jill’s ability.

That bedroom looks like the one my 90 year old grandmother had. 😂

I think my issue with it is that it looks so much nicer than the kids rooms. The kids furniture is ratty and scratched. It looks like it was brought home for free from a flea market. No attempt is made to fix up the scratches or re-stain the wood. On top of that they cram 7-8 girls in one bedroom instead of giving the older girls their own space. Kaylee and Renee (not counting Nurie anymore because she's leaving) should have a room that allows them to have something other than a bunk bed. They are young women, not little girls.

Their master bedroom isn't bad at all compared to the other rooms and that's the problem: once again Jill and David are all about Jill and David, not their kids.

Chelsy Bontrager Maxwell just put up a new post filled with pictures about maternity clothes. She post pictures from various stages of pregnancy from both pregnancies.

As of the time I'm posting this, she still hasn't had the baby. Baby #2 was due Monday June 15.  As much as I despise her beliefs, I hope she and the baby are okay. Last time she tried to give birth at home and had to be rushed last minute to the hospital. She gave birth with assistance there.  (no c-section.) The Maxwells seem to favor homebirth. Elissa has had three homebirths and Anna Marie five. Melanie is high-risk and gives birth in the hospital.

2 observations about the 1st picture: notice that Jill is hunched over and has pulled a child in front of her, but she’s still got a hand on her belly... pregnant much? Also, who is the blonde boy beside Kaylee? Is he one of theirs?

Another thing about Chelsy; in one of the pictures she took "today" (June/17/2020). She appears to be in public restroom with no mask. Fundies are so selfish.

I honestly thought this was a homemade photo collage of the bride at different stages of her life. They all look like the same person.

The worst-dressed award goes to the one in white with the saggy jowly top over another green top. And the sad thing is, I've seen it before. Must be her go-to top. I also feel like I've  seen it as an undergarment on a nun on  "Call the Midwife".

Ha!. I think I have to give the award to the prettiest little emaciated girl on the far left. Jill’s got her in a Blanche Devereaux blouse and a crinoline. Couldn’t even get the child an actual skirt. She has to wear the slip that goes under the skirt.

I think Kaylee is a natural beauty, but I also think she is better at applying makeup than...well...every other female in the home. She wears brighter colored lipstick, whereas Nurie wears, what looks to me as, dark brown. I think Kaylee is a little lighter on the eyeliner, too.
