Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

I think that might have been when she announced that Nurie had decided that Jill needed a Pamper Mommy Party, where she asked for no baby things, just new bedding, an expensive mixer, expensive perfumes, and other things.  The party was live streamed and Jill sat in a chair as her presents were presented to her.  She must have been disappointed that she got more baby things than Mommy things, and went offline for awhile when she got a lot of flack for her crass grifting.

How did I miss that she LIVE STREAMED her party???? Good Lort.

It's been said Jill is stuck in the 90's. Remember heroin chic? Maybe that's just the look she's going for.

Stormy has a new blog post today. It's David's newsletter included in it is their address. Ummm yeah I wouldn't never do that but it's our girl she needs those gift cards flooding in.

Maybe someone should call CPS about the state of the twelve kids already born.

Unless there are bruises or the children admit to being abused, CPS isn't going to do anything. David & Jill don't have to let CPS see or talk to the children without a warrant and no judge is going to issue a warrant on the basis of an anonymous phone call stating that the children are under-nourished. While the Rodrigues children's situation is sad, CPS is overwhelmed with cases of horrific abuse and neglect. The kids may be skinny and not the healthiest looking, but they don't appear to be in imminent danger.

I actually tried to, unfortunately you have to live in the US to do it, otherwise I would have, even if they hadn't done anything, I would still feel better for it.

I'm aware that CPS is overworked and likely couldn't do anything, anyway. That shouldn't be a reason for people not to call.

I recently had occasion to call county animal control about someone I believe to be neglecting her many, many animals (I'd call her a hoarder, too). Animal control claimed everything there was just fine, but 1. Now there is a record of a complaint, and 2. I felt a lot better having done something.

So true! But in her warped mind, she thinks they look good. I wonder how she would cope with a deformed baby.

Oh, boy. Now we're getting into some questionable territory. Believe me, I feel incredibly sorry for these kids. I know what it's like to grow up homeschooled, ignorant, isolated and totally unaware of what it's like to interact with peers or have a normal life. My parents weren't as wacko as Jill and David, thank goodness, but it was bad enough. But are they actually being undernourished? I'm not sure. Admittedly, when you look at pictures of the Turpin kids, the ones from California who were abused and starved, it isn't apparent in the photos how badly malnourished they were. I wish I could see the Rodrigues kids in person. But I agree that the situation is not bad enough for CPS to do anything. I have no doubt they are physically punished, but likely not in such a way that leaves visible marks. Psychologically, who knows how bad the damage is.

The camera adds the illusion of extra weight.  Imagine how skinny they are in person.

At that sort of extreme angle it wouldn't, though. Maybe that's why she chose it. Is there such a thing as anorexia by proxy? Maybe she has sort of paranoia when it comes to an extra ounce showing up on her beautiful Godly children to ruin her scenario (whatever exactly, it is). Pity that her skewed eye seems to skew in the opposite direction when it comes to Chimpy and his "muscles".

The blankets are super popular now and rightfully so. I want one with my name on it!

Maci from Teen Mom was given one for Maverick and thanked the manufacturer on her Instagram page. If you have the time to peruse her page, that'll provide you with at least one company who makes them. I will try and get the name myself because I should've bookmarked it and it'll drive me crazy if I can't recall who makes them.

Also, if you Google "personalized fleece baby blankets", you should find a few companies to at least compare prices, styles and sizes. I know I've seen some beautiful ones on Etsy as well, which you can shop for via Amazon.

UPDATE: @Fuzzysox and @drafan

Check out Shophighway3 on Instagram for personalized fleece blankets. Their actual website is https://shophighway3.com/

They’re even more beautiful than I remembered. (I don’t have kids, I don’t have Instagram and I’m not sponsored by them! I’m just a sucker for personalized/monogrammed items.)

Thank you for the shoutout! :)

There are some photos of Nuri with Jana drifting around the internet.  Nuri dwarfs Jana and looks a thin but still normal weight in comparison to Jana.  None of Jill's children are as skinny as my grandson and yet he is well fed and definitely not a CPS case.  Nothing that we know that Jill has done is far enough from the norm in West Virginia to warrant intervention that I've seen.  People on the internet supposing the children are starved isn't credible evidence of anything and will be disregarded.  Could other people do a "better" in our eyes job with the children?  Assuredly.  Is that grounds for intervention?  No.   People are allowed to make poor decisions if they are providing reasonably adequate food, clothing, and shelter and aren't physically harming children (large bruises, broken bones, etc)

Sorry to be so emphatic, but CPS has their hands full with cases with first hand evidence of tragic abuse.

You're more than welcome! You've got beautiful items that clearly stood out in my mind even after several months after seeing them!  I can't wait to place an order with you since I just found out that one of my best friends is expecting her first child in September.

Well, depending on your profession, and depending on the state, you may be a mandated reporter and thus be required by law to contact Child Protective Services even if there is no hard evidence. If the claims are investigated and deemed unfounded then the case would be dismissed, but mandated reporters who suspect child abuse and/or neglect yet do not file a report could be legally held accountable.

I googled mapped the house.  I had to laugh - the next door neighbor has a for sale sign in their yard.  LOL

Google maps tends to be a bit behind - I like to try to find our house and see if the pictures reflect the addition we put on a few years ago, or the expanding garden areas since we bought the house (5 years ago this past December), and rarely find any pictures from less than two years ago. Occasionally I still find one from when the previous owners' dilapidated tractor and boat were still in the side yard. The actual Google Maps site seems to be only moderately caught up compared to sites like Zillow a lot of the time. If anyone knows a way to find more up-to-date info, please share! :)

Hopefully the next door neighbors are long-since gone and free.

Ha. What got me blocked from their Youtube channel was my polite response to one of her over the top beauty videos in which she ENCOURAGED wives to keep themselves TRIM  and BEAUTIFUL for their husbands by caking on makeup and using Plexus products. I politely asked why only wives were expected to keep trim, but not husbands. I named no names but I guess my meaning was clear and I got deleted and blocked. :D I had a real point to make, though! I hate the double standard.

The comparison with Jana is a fair point. I think they inherited a kind of "sunken eyes" look from their father which may be influencing people. Only a doctor examining them in person can say for sure, but it's safe to say that it's hard for us to diagnose at a distance. Because of the Youtube video I mentioned above, I do think Jill is obsessed with female thinness (and so is Gothard, of course) and probably encourages her girls to eat sparingly, but hopefully not to an extreme. Again, agreed that they are not CPS cases.

All I can say is I want to see Stormy's pantry. That would be a good indicator if the kids are being fed or not. I'm a huge couponer and I have a stockroom filled with food, why, because it was on sale used a coupon got it super cheap or free. I always have food on hand in a pinch to cook whatever I want.

Why is that girl crouching in the weeds to have her picture taken? Is she sitting on a rock or something?  Is that white thing on the ground beside her a crumpled up napkin?  ????

What dumbass looked at that scene and said "now you go over there in the weeds and squat down on that rock next to the trash and those old boards and we'll take your picture." It's the worst setting I've seen since Jill Rod (Stormy!) took pictures of her son standing in a field strewn with bottles and random garbage.

What is it with these people? Why doesn't anyone notice this stuff?

My thoughts exactly.  A very odd pose

I LOVE seeing in pantries and fridges.  Its a weird thing I know.  Whenever they flash on either open on a reality show I pause so I can be nosy.  I would be interested in seeing theirs.

If CPS gets a lot of complaints that turn out to be unsubstantiated, they assume the family is being targeted by a disgruntled "friend" which goes on record, also, and is part of the information given out on all subsequent complaints. I've been through this with someone I know who abuses her children but is savvy enough not to leave bruises.

I think it's because many people think that Jill R looks a lot like Stormy Daniels, the porn actress who is currently in the news for claiming to have had sex and a spanking session with Donald Trump just weeks after his last child was born.

It's kind of an insult, because ultra-modest Jill wears more makeup than Stormy, and not in a good way.

Double the insult by calling Jill "Stormy" when Jill loves Trump and Stormy seems to be doing her best to take him down, and not in a good way.

I think I'll keep calling her Jill R.

I saw the Easter pics on Jill’s blog.

Dear LORT whyyyyy do they insist on dressing the girls like this?????  Why is that dang second shirt necessary????  This is just insane. There is nothing immodest about the way any of the girls are dressed minus the undershirt.  Except for the one who wore the leftover prom gown left over from the vow renewal.

Smh.

I just got up the nerve to check out JRod’s newest blog entry.  Two things stood out:

1) Those poor, pitiful children ?

2) That bitch is crazy af.

I just jumped down the rabbit hole myself...So many WTF's..Those "graduation" pictures of Timothy are the creepiest creeps that ever creeped! Never thought I would say that the way those boys look, make the Duggar boys look decent..? I like to think where she states ALL the children are asking when the baby is coming and can't wait to hold her, are actually saying, "STOP HAVING BABIES!" This is one truly terrifying family.

As far as calling CPS. In our old neighborhood there was a lady whose daughter was very under nourished, that child was hardly ever fed. She was never abused though. CPS was called for that reason only and did come out. I don't know what came of it as she was never taken from the home, is about to graduate high school and is doing well now. So at least where I live, they will come out even if the child is not abused. Funny part was another neighbor told the neighbor next to me(who is my best friend)that she thought it was me that called. I had probably talked to that mom twice and even though I knew the girl was rarely fed, it didn't even occur to me to call CPS.

They may not be malnourished, but there is definitely some sort of food issue in that family when it comes to the kids and Jill seems to encourage it.  It may not rise to the level of abuse, but it ain’t healthy.

This seems very true from things Jill has posted.  Jill and David have made numerous questionable parenting decisions.  Unfortunately that isn't illegal, but can result in over a dozen very messed up offspring growing up with it.

I don't know if you remember the video they posted where they were in Florida and David was cutting up a coconut. The kids were surrounding him like hungry zoo animals waiting for their keepers to toss them a hunk of meat. I know even regular kids can crowd and get excited when treats are about to be served, but there was just something so feral about the way the Rodriguii were doing it, you got the impression fighting for food wasn't an unusual occurrence in their lives.

What struck me about the beach video is that they let all the boys eat the coconut first, and then made a point of saying ‘now that the boys have tried it, it’s the girls’ turn’.

I should expect misogyny from them, but it still pisses me off.

6:52 AM: Chimp and I are walking into the hospital.

6:55 AM: Chimp and I enter the elevator.

6:58: Chimp and I reach the maternity ward.

And so on, ad nauseam. I hope Stormy Jill's phone battery croaks just as they reach the hospital so that she doesn't have a chance to get another one.
