Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Renee is also shilling Metalucea's makeup in her stories. Apparently, they can't say the company name in their pitches. Renee requires that you PM her for the link to buy.

Kaylee hasn't gotten there quite yet, but I think she will by tomorrow.

I remember the Watkins man coming to our house, circa late 50's or early 60's.  Surely they aren't still in business?

Watkins still exists and, as far as I know, they still sell door to door as well as via their website.  They went bankrupt in the '70's but reorganized and came back.  Watkins split into 2 different companies. The original Watkins now sells spices, seasonings and other food products while JR Watkins sells the cleaning and personal care products.

Those who don't get on the cruise get a $500 credit deposited in their Plexus account; it  doesn't indicate if that is actual cash or must be used on Plexus merch.

I highly doubt it was actual cash.   If it was, Jill wouldn't have been so pissed about missing the cruise.   Money makes her happy.   Not as happy as a "free" vacation, but happy enough.

I bought some stuff from them about 20 years ago. I had just seen the movie about the gentleman who went door to door and was so moved, I bought from him!

Hmm, you can't say the company name of a company you're shilling for, and have presumably sunk your own money into to get started?  And you can only buy it via PM?  That doesn't sound sketchy or dangerous or potentially illegal at all.

The website has ‘member’ and non-member prices.   My guess is that they  don’t want to say the company because people will go order directly at the non-member  price.

It was interesting that this is the first post of her shilling the makeup, and in the video she stated it was her first time using it.

I feel bad for Kaylee and Renee especially. This is all they got? MLM? More money out the door than you earn? And that make up on Renee doesn't sell me on the product. Let's see how long this lasts.

So who signed up first and who is the downline?

Where would Renee even get the money to buy this stuff to use or shill. Her "hopping on" mama's fb a few times a year to sell a few pairs of earrings for $8 with free shipping isn't making enough for that. One time a lady from one of the grift stops sent her supplies to even make earrings.

Kaylee has Jonathan's income, Jill has the grift and clearing house money, but unless Renee has a courtship partner with an actual job and income, I don't see this lasting long for Renee.

I do think a courtship is possible at this point with the random
"we took Renee to visit Nurie" and a stop in Myrtle Beach, the fb acct, and Renee is using a phone at the Valentine thing at one of the churches.

She constantly had a phone in her hand when dating MM.

Renee doesn’t have her own money, so David actually gave her money to sink into this?

That is an interesting question and one I didn't consider. Where is she getting the money? Kaylee of course from Jonathan.... but it would have to be David. Unless she has a small allowance and that is what she uses.

Jill does not allow the kids to have allowances.   That's money that she could use to buy yet another tchotke for the barndo.   When they do "use their own money" to buy Mahmo yet another gift, its most likely Mahmo gave them the money and told them what to buy so she could claim her kids shower her with gifts.   Or it was money given to them specifically at grift stops that Mahmo confiscated.

Most likely Jill signed her up and is paying for stuff - and taking any earnings.  Just so it doesn't look like Jill is trying out multiple MLMs until she finds one that will make her rich, rich, rich.

And she's just selling foundation and mascara, the brand name she could mention. But what's most prominent is the heavy eyeliner and lipstick.

I looked at the website, and the non-member prices are ridiculous. It's not even clear that you can order directly since everything directs to the membership page, which doesn't say very much about being a member.

I did a bit of research instead of the real work I'm supposed to be doing today. Yearly membership is $19. Members have to buy at least 35 points worth of products each month to stay in good standing with the company. If you're ill or on vacation (or living in a van while grifting at churches in Florida), the company will automatically send you a 35-point package of products so you can keep your membership. One of the membership benefits is $20 of free product each month.

Interestingly, Metaleuca offers services that members can buy such as gas discounts, shopping discounts, a healthcare savings plan, a beef subscription, and an identity protection plan. Buying the plans gives points too.

Metalucea is a Mormon company that emphasizes wellness and charity on its mission statement. It doesn't talk about recruiting or having a downline, but there are several Metaleuca rants on Reddit that suggest it's just another pushy recruiting-based MLM, with ordinary products and an arbitrary point system.

That would require a SEVERELY large bowl of popcorn.

The Reddit posts suggest the company is super aggressive in its pressure on members to recruit. How did Renee get involved with this? I hope she doesn't think it's going to give her an income. It's not designed to do that.

The worst thing for Best Mama Ever is that it doesn't appear to give out cruises or trips to islands, things that Renee can treat Mama to.

On a non-Reddit review page, one review says that the starter pack is $300, and another suggests that the monthly purchases to earn the 35 points comes to $100 plus. Trying to unmembership oneself is a nightmare too because the company just keeps sending the backup points packages as the bills add up.

David shelled out $300 so Renee could sell makeup? Wow. Lazy Davy must be desperate not to work a full time job to support his family.

I would imagine Kaylee's haul is the "starter pack." It contained makeup, I believe.

It was quite the haul! Toothpaste, cleaning products including the empty spray bottles to put them in, laundry detergent, stain remover, vitamins, oils, cream for pain, lotions, a “refreshing” drink mix, and more, such a variety! And she’s so excited about it all! She showed some twice because she said she couldn’t remember what she already showed. 🤦‍♀️

More tears and words by Jill:

“I cried.  The burdens of life seemed crushing that particular morning.  So many responsibilities in ministry.  Traveling for ministry.  Business ups and downs.  Personal struggles.  I wept with David before I left for a girls' day out with my girlies.  David knelt by the bed with me and prayed.  Prayed for God to show up in a mighty way on our behalf.   To be honest, I was feeling sorry for myself.  It is so easy to get tunnel vision on the burdens of life.  I won't go into detail about the trials of my life.  They are personal and very real to me / us.  But, they do exist.

After I ordered my coffee at Dunkin Donuts, I went and sat down.  As I sat there, I looked up at my girlies standing in line, making their orders.  When together,  we get attention nearly everywhere we go.  With delight, people comment on our long hair and feminine, modest clothing.  It is a testimony for Christ. As I gazed up at my girls, I was reminded how ABSOLUTELY blessed I am!  🙌  SO many Christian young ladies rebel against Bible truths and choose the world and it's ways.  😢  I never want to take advantage of the blessings of life that money could never buy!  One being our beautiful, sweet, chaste and godly daughters who make God a daily part of their lives!  It jolted me and reminded me of how VERY blessed I am!  🙌

When down, choose gratefulness.  It will transform the perspective of your day!  😊🥰

I'm from a very different culture than the Rods when it comes to commenting on strangers' religion/"modesty", so I need to ask, is there a chance that real humans actually come up to Jill and the Rodlettes "almost everywhere they go" to comment (with delight no less) on their...interesting... outfits and hair? Is this just more reality according to Jill (and our patron, Lord Daniel) or is it a real thing?

Renee has been my pet Rod for some reason.  I really would love to see her meet someone who would stand up to the best mama evah! and tell Jill that he and Renee are moving far away from them and he will give Renee the freedom to make her own choices (which would be overwhelming for her, I'm sure).  Also, he could tell Jill and David, not to expect multiple meals paid by him when they spend time together (but he would be willing to pay for the younger kids to have decent meals).

Oh Renee, don’t admit that this is the first time you were trying the product! You’re supposed to be all in if you wanna sell something. I love this makeup! It’s so flattering on me and it will be on you too! Etc.

I can imagine that people might comment on their hair. Like mostly old men. Ha. But I don’t see anybody commenting on their rag tag clothes. The outfits are always put together so poorly, what is there to complement?

Unfortunately, if Renee has a guy in Myrtle Beach, that’s another vacation destination for Jill! She would love to drop by on them several times a year on the way down to Florida. Aren’t there any fundies in Idaho that can come take Renée away? That’s too far for the Rod’s RV to go , and I don’t know why she’d want to go there anyway.

So are the girls paying for their own coffee as they got their turn? I mean, Jill had to give it to them anyway since they don’t have money (unless Renee is going wild with her earring money). It’s just the principle of her going first and sitting down ahead of them.

She and David were definitely doing a money pity party. What else does she have to cry about? She has some married children and seems to approve the spouses. I doubt she’s crying for Renee to find a guy. It’s all about deserving God‘s blessing with money falling from the sky.

As I noted yesterday, Jill had a reaction to not being on that ship. She failed to mention that $500 is basically Monopoly money. She missed out on the $2000 shopping spree that the Sister Wives posted about. No wonder she was in tears. 😂

Wow, what a sucky consolation prize. How is that even close to the cruise and the $2000? You could either spend it in the Bloomingdale’s on ship, or take it home. One of the sister wives, Janelle, said she was saving it for home since she’s building a house or something. You gotta love all the work Jill did on that picture. Sticking her big face and name in there when it clearly said something else.

Got to admit, every time I hear “Plan B” all I think about is birth control.

Is the board acting strangely for anyone else today? Mine keeps constantly refreshing, and then going to a blank page. When I scroll it refreshes and I can never see the comments. 😠 It does do that off and on. Maybe it’s because I use my phone?

PS: Renee doesn’t even have long hair. And can you imagine the looks that Nurie gets when they see her eyebrows and dark red lipstick? I don’t think anybody’s first thought is about how chaste they all must be. Why would anyone even think about that? And Jill let it out herself that she was crying about money. She said her beautiful virgin daughters were more important than all the money in the world or something like that. And the reason why she “wept”. For God’s sake, just say cried. This woman has 13 healthy children. She should never weep about a damn thing. So many are not so lucky. I only had two, and one was diagnosed as a very little boy with type 1 diabetes. Try living that life Jill.

I believe people probably comment on their hair. In my early 20s, I had long thick curly hair down to my butt & got frequent comments. I think their clothing is a hodge podge mess and don’t think many people would comment. Maybe an occasional I like your shirt if someone wanted to find something nice to say for some reason.

Jill gets her coffee and has a seat meanwhile the girls pay for their own. How do they get money. I can't imagine the earring money going that far, especially with this new "business" venture. And I'm sorry, my mother would have treated me if I was not working a steady job. Heck, she treated me when I was working.
