If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

I never thought much about the name thing until my mother ended up in a nursing home due to a stroke and dementia.  She goes by her middle name, but she named my oldest sister her first name.  My oldest sister has passed and my mother has had times where she is very mixed up about that and gets upset.  It is pure hell.  When she first got there, the staff kept calling her by her first name (my sister's name).  It was so upsetting because I thought, here she is sick and confused and they keep saying my sister's name.  Even though she can't articulate it, I'm sure it had to be upsetting to her.  We've finally gotten staff used to calling her by her middle name, but the whole thing was upsetting all the way around.  I think this is a good lesson when we name our kids.  I know this is not a happy story, but it is food for thought when naming your children.  The name needs to serve them through their whole life.

If one of my kids sent me a flower arrangement while struggling financially to pay college and be self-supporting, I would not be over the roof happy about it. In fact, I'd be a little pissed that he/she didn't use common sense and send me a card from the dollar store. Or post a cute gif on my Facebook feed. Whatever psychological tick that causes these people to have a quiverful of kids for the Lord seems to also cause them to be selfish and self-centered.

I know all I need to about Jill R. She doesn’t feed her children enough and always puts herself first. That’s enough for me to dislike her strongly. I might even have stronger feelings but I’ll be keeping those 4 letter words to myself.

Having hope gives hope? If that's the answer, it must be some bullshit riddle that a poor, suffering atheist like me couldn't begin to understand.

As for Stevehovah:  A future?  I can't seem to make any spiritual words fit with the "It seems rare to find the elderly with it."  

 

And, as for JillRod:  I am so angry with her.  If she had an ounce of real love for her son, she'd cut expenses for a month and send him $75 back so he can eat.  He's working at what appears to be a job with manual labor and then he's taking classes.  He can't be expected to fast to make "Mamma" happy.  Suggested areas to cut back would be - hair dye, eye liner, hair spray, Plexus drinks, Plexus vitamins, desserts for David, and teeth whitening strips.  (If you're lurking, Jilly,  it's possible that those strips are accelerating your problem with receding gums.  If your teeth get much longer, you're going to start looking like Mr. Ed.)

I was thinking something like this, but couldn't find the right word for some reason. I kept thinking things like "direction", but couldn't get it to really be close enough to summing up Jesus in one word. 

Whatever I'd come up with, even if it fit most of the other words, seemed always counter to  at least one of them. As @GeeGolly said, a lot of things which could work for most seemed very dismissive of the elderly. Or too narrow to sum up Jesus, etc.

It makes my blood boil that we had to hear all about poor Tim not being able to afford one of his books and now we have Jill flaunting a flower arrangement he sent her on her IG. Any parent who thinks a kid struggling to make it on his own needs to be “honoring” his parents in this way is no parent at all. And posting about it like she does just encourages poor Tim to continue to sacrifice his own well being to keep making Jill happy. It is gross.

If he pays people money, they'll briefly tolerate him. The elderly don't give a shit about what he thinks any longer so they won't bother to tolerate him. He's such a control freak his kids are screwed if they can't tolerate him -- and he doesn't know any other young adults. Once you're dead you don't need to tolerate him. Any adult who tolerates him is clearly misguided. Marriage suggested Terry would tolerate him, but she quickly found she couldn't do it either. The only person who really tolerates Steve is [Steve's] Jesus.

Because I don't trust Jill, I think she got it from some funeral or a nursing home and came home and put a card to it. Why would Timmy be wasting money he doesn't have on her?

It could be that Timothy is actually making some real money from a job, something he has never seen in his family.  He was broke in the beginning (couldn't afford the books) but by now maybe he has some savings.  Having an actual job may be the best part of this experience for him--I hope it sticks!

I agree, but I have a sinking feeling that Jill and David are putting the bite on Tim for anything extra that he makes.  If he makes "good money", then they'll expect him to contribute something back to them because of the "ministry" and all those starving siblings.  My hunch is that Tim will probably drive home for Christmas break (getting free room and meals along the way from the churches that Jill cultivated on the way up).  He'll give them his extra money and they'll send him back in January broke and hungry.

I hope I'm wrong but grifters are gonna grift -- even from their own children.

I doubt Tim is making enough money to have any extra, anyway. He's an eighteen-year-old kid with no education, no vocational skills that I know of, and maybe no work ethic to boot. Add in his lack of open availability for a job, and he's left with pretty much the most menial of work.
