openwindow April 24, 2017 Share April 24, 2017 (edited) Quote This place is way too addictive - I've done literally no work at all since finding it! Favorite season - Season 2 Least favorite season - Can I count the revival? Otherwise, season 6 Season order if we can't have ties: 2, 3, 1, 4, 7, 5, 6, Revival, but at this point I really only rewatch the first three seasons and about 75% of the fourth Five favorite episodes - There's the Rub, Lorelai's Graduation Day, I Can't Get Started, Dear Emily and Richard, Those Are Strings Pinocchio. Not that I have a really strong preference for seasons 2 and 3 or anything :-) Five favorite characters in no order- Rory, Lorelai, Emily, Paris, Jess, and like many of you I probably wouldn't like any of them very much in real life! Five relationships I care most about - Lorelai and Rory, Lorelai and Emily, Rory and Richard, Rory and Paris, Rory and Jess Minor characters I would want to see more of - Mrs. Kim, Dave Rygalski, Tana, Brad, Brian I was composing my answers in bed last night :-) Season rankings: 2, 4, 1, 3, 5, 7, 6 Five favorites: That Damn Donna Reed, Run Away Little Boy, A-Tisket A-Tasket, the trilogy at the end of S4 which I'm counting as one because I can't follow rules like a normal person, Written in the Stars Five favorite characters: Luke, Lorelai (she and I have a complex love/hate thing going, lol), Paris, Jess, Sookie, Bonus: Rory in the first two or three seasons Least favorite: The life and death brigade (Logan, Colin, Finn), Rory in later seasons and the revival, TJ, Liz, Anna Five favorite relationships: Luke/Lorelai, Luke/Jess, Rory/Jess, Rory/Paris, Lorelai/Sookie or Jackon/Sookie. I'm guesssing no one else left Lorelai/Rory off their list? I tried to explain why in the UO thread! Minor characters: Mrs Kim, the reverend and rabbi, Gypsy, Tana and Janet I'm not sure this is the right thread, but can I ask people to name their 10 favorite Luke/Lorelai scenes? Or favorite Rory/Paris scenes? I would love to see the responses! Edited April 24, 2017 by openwindow 1 Link to comment

It showed how alike, awkward and unique they were and how their friendship had grown, they were no longer rivals. Plus, it's just a fun episode! 2 Link to comment
itgetseasier July 3, 2017 Share July 3, 2017 Favorite characters: Lorelai, Luke, Paris, Lane, Michel Favorite season: S4. I blathered on for paragraphs about this in the unpopular opinions forum 10 favorite episodes - Double Date, Forgiveness and Stuff, The Road Trip to Harvard, Run Away, Little Boy, Those Are Strings, Pinocchio, Scenes in a Mall, Luke Can See Her Face, Last Week Fights This Week Tights, Raincoats and Recipes, Written in the Stars, But Not As Cute as Pushkin That was 12, but fortunately a lot of fans seem to count the final three episodes of S4 as one! 1 Link to comment
stan4 February 20, 2018 Share February 20, 2018 It's so interesting to see everyone's favorites. Especially the episodes. Some people's favorites are ones I skip bc I find them boring (like the spring break one or the Harvard trip one or the pushkin one). Some I totally agree with (Fights/Tights, Bracebridge, Tick, Tick, Tick Boom, Raincoats and Recipes, Living Art). I prefer the pre-Yale seasons, though I do like Season 4 after the first few episodes. In fact, any Rory-heavy storyline tends to bore me (I like the town stuff way more). I have no favorite characters. Just characters that make me less stabby than others. Link to comment
coffeecoffeecoffee November 3, 2018 Share November 3, 2018 (edited) I love superlatives and often list and rank things in my head for fun because I am a hopeless nerd, so this thread makes me very happy! Favorite to least favorite seasons: 1, 2, 4, 3, 5, Revival, 7, 6. But after the first four seasons, for me the rest of the series is more just about rewatching the special moments and ignoring the rest :) Ten favorite episodes: Double Date, That Damn Donna Reed, Run Away Little Boy, Dead Uncles and Vegetables, They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?, Those Are Strings Pinocchio, The Fundamental Things Apply, The three at the end of season 4 grouped as The Trilogy, Written in the Stars, Fall Favorite characters: Luke, Lorelai, Paris, Lane and her mom, Michel. Honorable mention to Gypsy! Least favorites: Anna, Logan, Logan's friends, Liz and TJ Best friendships and relationships: Luke and Lorelai, Lorelai and Rory, Lane and her mom, Luke and Jess especially later on, and Lorelai/Sookie especially early on Best couple who was never a couple: This site has hooked me on the idea of Paris and Jess, especially now that Jess has grown, Rory has devolved and Paris is probably divorced from Doyle Best song: Reflecting Light by Sam Phillips! Most unpopular opinions: Probably that I like Dean in season 1 and a lot of season 2, and even when he's at his admittedly bad worst, there are characters and relationships I like less than Dean and Rory x Dean Also that Lorelai would be a better journalist than Rory And that Richard is actually worse than Emily And, finally, that starting as early as season 2 or 3, Rory loving books and academics is literally one of the only redeeming facets of her character. Take that way, even in the earlier seasons before she became her worst, and there really isn't much to love or relate to about her. Favorite town events: Bracebridge dinner [the sleigh rides and snowman building contest and town sleepover at the inn], Firelight festival, Movie night in the square, Festival of Living Art, Dance-a-thon even though I don't dance Edited November 3, 2018 by coffeecoffeecoffee 5 Link to comment
coffeecoffeecoffee November 3, 2018 Share November 3, 2018 How can I forgive myself for not including Forgiveness and Stuff and Rory's Birthday Parties on my list of favorite episodes? I guess I'll have to give them some love by watching them again tonight. I've only memorized them by now, so why not? :) 3 Link to comment
AsYouWish April 22, 2019 Share April 22, 2019 Late to this and every other thread but I love seeing how we all seem to rank the seasons in a slightly different order. Mine is 2, 1, 4 (gap), 3, 5, (really big gap), A Year in the Life, 7, 6. Every season has at least some great episodes and a few episodes I pretend don't exist, but generally speaking I could watch 1, 2 and 4 all day every day, and since I don't have much of a life, I probably will. Seasons 3 and 5 have some of my favorite moments of the whole show but also a lot more that I really dislike and want to skip through than 1, 2 and 4 do. I actually like most of the Emily and LL moments in A Year in the Life and the wedding goes a long way towards redeeming the revival for me despite the parts that made me wonder if ASP secretly hates us all. And the revival is shorter than seasons 6 and 7, which means there's less for me to skip through. And while I'm generalizing: I will vote "best" for almost any scene set in Stars Hollow with Lorelai, Luke and/or Rory, even the ones where the townies are there and being over the top, over almost any scene set elsewhere. Stars Hollow with its quirky charm and own set of strengths and flaws is like its own character to me and so much of what makes the show unique. I love Lorelai and Rory's home and would honestly rather just watch our characters eat and mock on the couch or at Luke's than almost anything else. Friday Night Dinner scenes can be brilliant but I agree with the person who said that they're stressful to watch because the conflicts between Lorelai and her parents are drawn out so exhaustingly for so long and even when you think they're moving forward, they move backwards the next episode. And by now I mostly skip all the scenes where Rory is "high society" with the Life and Death Brigade and the DAR. Link to comment
chessiegal April 22, 2019 Share April 22, 2019 One thing that's fun on the Friday night dinner scenes is watching the ever changing fluid levels in the water and wine glasses. Based on hearing every scene had multiple takes, everyone must be stuffed by the time they are done! 2 1 Link to comment
