JB and especially Michelle are pros at speaking endless jesusy drivel.  Michelle goes on and on and on about the terrible sins she committed before age 15, and her heavy baggage she brought to the relationship, and her shame.  She said she deserved hell!!!

Later on, it seems all these horrific sins were doing gymnastics and cheerleading to secular music!!!

At 1:45, (that's one HOUR and 45 minutes and I obviously had to do some fast forwarding) she talks about her married girls wearing pants.

I still can't believe they can talk so much in such endless circles without saying anything specific at all.

Also, the auditorium was practically empty,  just a few short rows of teens.

So hell is full of cheerleaders. Good to know.

Makes me wonder if JB is actually as dead set against going there as he claims, however.

So I guess I'm back to -- someone's put a spell on her!

I think Michelle has put a spell on her kids...a spell based purely on fear. I have always believed that it's Michelle, not Jim Bob, who is the family tyrant and that everyone is terrified of arousing her wrath. The whispery-voiced Mother of the Year act is so phony and saccharine that I'm convinced that behind the scenes she can be as vicious and frightening in her rage as Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest. One mean, dirty look from her probably has the kid she's directed it at shaking in his shoes. When Jana posted that ridiculously over-the-top praise of Michelle, my first thought was that she must have done something recently to piss her mother off and this was her way of getting back into her mother's good graces.

Like all master manipulators, Michelle is probably very good at the old carrot-and-stick. Once she has a kid cowering in fear and they've demonstrated sufficient repentance, she'll graciously "forgive" and offer them a small dribble of affection, just enough to keep them off balance and constantly seeking her favor.  And she's probably very good at playing one kid off against another.

And then their misguided children (Jana and Jer that I know of, but I'm sure others as well) provided testimonials and endorsements to back up their arrogant claims.

Didn’t know these two spoke at Big Sandy this year. Is there a video or picture of them that I missed?

I couldn’t talk nonstop for an hour and forty-five minutes if it meant my life. It takes some amazing arrogance to assume they’re that interesting.

OTOH, Austin has moved up a notch in my esteem. If he rebelled once, he can rebel again.

I agree. Michelle's narcissism created a Lord of the Flies dynamic amongst the siblings. They learned very early on that if you want positive attention from Mom, you better fight, scrape and compete to praise the hell out of her and do her bidding. Otherwise you won't get a second glance.

Well,  I know Meeechelle spoke with her daughters and daughters-in-law. Don't know about Jim Bob, actually. I'm just assuming and possibly making an ass out of you and me! ....I have no doubt that ATI considers them a draw, however. They are on TeeVee. .... !

I listened to the whole 3 hours of presentation! 😵 Don't judge me 😜 I put my bluetooth earphones on and listened while I worked in the yard - it helped to pass the time. It was David and Priscilla Waller and JB and M. For about half of it, just David and Pris talked. David is really pompous - another Jeremy for sure.

As for the subject matter and what they all said, nothing really new was said. JB is pretty hard line - he believes that you could miss out on "the one God has for you" if you don't embrace God/Jesus as a young person. Meaning if you don't find God until later in life, you may end up marrying a drug addict instead of a pastor (his exact example). They all actually believe there is a one and only that God has for you. If you don't do everything just right as a teen (or probably even as a child), you could end up marrying someone else, but that would be your fault, not God's.

Priscilla's baby voice is just ridiculous and she gets tongue-tied several times. If I think of some other interesting stuff to share, I'll post it. Right now I've had TOO MUCH of these people! I'm going to listen to a heathen podcast!!

And once again a person must be desperate to want to listen to the same drivel over and over again. The Duggar clan absolutely have no value when it comes to the real world. They are so far from reality it would take a lot of search teams to find them and bring them back to what is really going on outside their cult err... world.

Did they actually speak in February of this year? That’s when the video was put up but what threw me off was when Michelle said Austin and Joy recently got married. They got married in May 2017.

Thanks for finding that; I skipped to that part. So basically she says that god is her stylist, that he told her to wear dresses and skirts and that maybe he just doesn't style everyone the same. She also implies that she has to dress like this because she was into music that was not Christ-centered. Or something.

I can't believe anyone could sit through this blather for three hours. I was amused to see David and Prissy looking at his phone together while MEchelle was talking and Boob was trying to steal the mic back. Also, why anyone would wear that jacket to give a speech? Could they not afford to hear the cavernous empty space enough to keep all twenty people  in the audience warm?

Since a few were asking, at the Big Sandy Family Conference this year, Meechelle did a session on "Child Training Tips" - we all know she's the expert on "training"...

JB and Meshell did two session together entitled:

"Prayerfully Guiding the Hearts of Your Children to Jesus"

and

"Make Your Home a Ministry Center"

So much wrong... this assumes everyone is going to get married.  Maybe God is steering you not to marry drug addicts, etc., even while you're in sinful rebellion.  Maybe you miss out on "the one God has for you" and you spend the rest of your life single, which could potentially suck, but it's not "getting married to a drug addict".

Someone (JB) is ignoring the Gospel parables again. The story of the vineyard owner hiring people all day long and paying the last hired the same as the first directly contradicts JB.  First of all, there’s not just one right person for another person. Second, If God wants you with someone, that person will be in your path. You can choose to engage with that person or not.

Maybe you aren’t ready at 20, and so another right person shows up when you are. Or maybe you are better off alone.   I hate it when legalistics like JB and Michelle ignore grace.

I grew up going to church so I've had God all of my life, but I'm still single after all these years.  I cannot and at this point will not deal with being married to someone like JB.   Being single is NOT the worst thing to happen to a woman.

Ahh, but were you in the right church with the right Jesus? And were you wearing pants? God only blesses women with husbands if they wear skirts (the women in skirts, not the husbands lol).

You have to do everything exactly right or no spouse for you according the gospel of Dim Boob.

Okay, JB, say you marry that one person.

Then, just for example, suppose that one person dies tragically in a freak accident involving an elliptical machine, a long denim skirt, and a Starbucks vente.

Is that person still the only one and therefore JB will have to tie it in a knot for the rest of his life?

Or does dying immediately disqualify one from being the one?

So many questions...

Oh my. So much of JB's and M's brains must have atrophied. I can't imagine what it's like to have the same damn loop of thoughts circling through my brain. And to have such a narrow view of God and spirituality while thinking they're deeply religious Christians.

It's sad and hopeful at the same time. The kidults will probably always believe the hateful rhetoric they spew (along with half the country), but if they can open their minds to wearing pants or "tattooed women", maybe their kids will eventually open their minds to broader and more inclusive thoughts.

Matthew 19:11-21

11 But Jesus said, "Not everyone is mature enough to live a married life. It requires a certain aptitude and grace. Marriage isn't for everyone.

12 Some, from birth seemingly, never give marriage a thought. Others never get asked - or accepted. And some decide not to get married for kingdom reasons. But if you're capable of growing into the largeness of marriage, do it."

But, but, but...don't let the words of OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST get in the way of Jim Bob and Michelle's teachings.

(admittedly this is not the KJV translation, but it gets the point across, and there are other similar verses in the bible).

So, according to Jim Bob's guidelines for marrying early and correctly, Jana is a failure and a sinner. She's 29 and hasn't found 'the one'. How does he justify Jana? Michelle is an idiot. She brought 'baggage' in to her relationship with Jim Bob as a 16 year old? Come on now, Michelle, quit patting yourself on the back for being such a great 'saved person'. Her arrogance in being modest is astounding to me.

Oh no, Jana as the SAHD is the Martha of this equation.  IMO he's skipping her because he never thinks about her marrying with any seriousness, because she's fulfilling her family role as far as he is concerned.

Well, you know, she's providing true enlightenment about the universe. When you think about all the bad things, large and small, people can do -- hurting, depriving and manipulating others, destroying the planet, killing multitudes in the name of religion or politics or preserving somebody's power ....

And then God's big concern turns out to be....wait for it....short skirts and popular music.

I mean, it just gives you a whole new perspective on life, doesn't it?

Exactly. Excellent point.

EMLTA: Gothard knew where the money and influence were. They lay in creating a "philosophy" or "theology" or whatever that would make it easy for a bunch of insecure, control-freaky, greedy dumb-asses to grab and hold onto power over others. And of course JB and M would have signed up for that.

If my memory serves me correct, Saint Paul believed that marriage was only for those who could not control their urges--better to be married than to burn in hell.  Early Christians tried to stay celibate and most of the early female martyrs were killed because they did not want to marry a Pagan even if their fathers set up the match.  The whole idea that marriage is the be-all end-all thing is not rooted into church history even if you want to exclude Catholics.

What really disgusts me with that answer is the perverse idea that Michelle has about her daughters wearing pants.  I believe that she truly believes this is a worse sin than what her precious Josh did to his sisters.
