Hey guys, I'm back!

Don't want to get into anything too deep. I'll just say Mick was very ill, and the last few months have been rough! But he's fine now, and I can post away and rejoin my best internet friends!

I'll be reading for awhile, just catching up, but be prepared for me to be back!

I'm so excited for the new season!!

I'm asking for prayers...I don't know what it means yet and the next step is to see a surgeon but I don't know what they think is wrong and just feel under the weather.  So I guess I failed an exam so if willing would you mind sending some positive prayers my way.  It feels silly to ask when so many are dealing with such awful stuff due to hurricanes and etc.  I'm hoping it's minor cause I don't have time for anything else.  I just don't do well with the unknown...

It's never silly to ask for help (and prayers!) I know what it's like to be worried sick, especially about the unknown (I'm a third-generation champion-level worrier myself).  So, all fingers and toes crossed that things go well for you, and don't be embarrassed to ask for help.

Thanks for the well wishes @catrox14, @7kstar, @auntvi, and @gonzosgirrl!

I still have no power. I hope yours is on at least now @RulerofallIsurvey! I moved some of my food to the fridge and freezer in hubby's lab, since I wasn't so sure about the power company's prediction of power being restored today. At least we have hot water and a gas stove to cook on. Poor hubby though - his routine is all out of whack and he's having trouble sleeping. We have a long day tomorrow - a talk in the morning and class at night. I'll be cooking dinner for the students somehow tomorrow afternoon.

I'll be sending good thoughts your way 7kstar, and I hope you will find out soon what the deal is and that it is something fixable. I don't want to say that I hope nothing is wrong, because if you feel badly, you likely want it to be something - and not them telling you it's not anything*** - just something fixable so you'll feel better again.

*Waves to @Mick Lady*  I hope you got my PM! More later.

*** My sister has been going through this lately. She felt awful, but the doctors just keep telling her it's just this or that (the symptoms) and not what's causing the symptoms as she's sent back and forth from this specialist to the next - they even gave her antibiotics that she was allergic to and it almost blew out her tendons (I'd never heard of that before but it sounded awful and she was on crutches for days). Long story short, I don't think she's gotten an answer yet (it's been over a moth, maybe closer to 2 months) even though at least her symptoms have lessened.

My sister had some good luck though: even though she lives between Clearwater and Tampa, she got through the storm with minimal damage and didn't even lose power. So small favors can be good!

I hope you all stay well. Until next time (don't know when that'll be)...

@7kstar, sending prayers your way that nothing is seriously wrong. I want everyone healthy here!!

That is what I hope for too.  I'm just feeling a little blah and stopped taking the pain meds to see if that will help which has the backlash of me being in more pain, but I've lived with chronic pain for years.  Just lots of little things adding up, so the first step is to get the ultra sound stuff to the next doctor.  Hoping to get that going this next week.

Thanks everyone for sending positive vibes and prayers.  It's nice to know that Supernatural, our only common ground, can make a connection.  I know this battle, one step at a time, but sometimes I worry...so posting has helped me to calm down a bit.  Thanks again.  :)

Hope you get power back soon.

Guys read the rare side effects because yes some antibiotics can blow your tendons, Achilles heel and etc.  I'm down to one antibiotic because it happened to me, but luckily I realized it soon enough and got off before it did too much damage.  I had been warned about it, so I was watching for it.

The hardest part about any illness is it doesn't fit the simple picture and they can't figure out what is wrong.  So I hope she feels better soon.  Hope you can connect soon again.  :)

Yeah, I've got a history of having the rarest side effects possible (therefore doctors rarely believe me at first.)  I'm allergic to most antibiotics and the one with the potential for tendon damage is one that I *can* take.  I'm pretty paranoid about all meds.

And just as bad as doctors not being able to figure out what's wrong is three specialists all giving different diagnoses.

I just want to jump in and say, I've been "liking" a lot of posts from months ago, because I've been away so long, and still catching up.

I'm VERY bitter about Crowley, and I'm enjoying your posts. But we won't stop watching, no matter what. For Mick and me, it's "our" show!

Awesomo, I will now officially stop bugging you about FF! You've got a hell of a lot on your platter as it is. Keep us updated on your sister, please!

I don't know what to comment on first, you cooking dinner for your students, which is awesome! (see what I did there?), or what else is in the fridge at your hubby's work! I don't really want to know...

Been a few days Awesomo. Any news on your Sister? How are you holding up? Have power yet?

Oh yes, sorry Mick Lady... we got power back last Thursday. It took me a couple of days to get my food all moved back in and/or thrown away. Fortunately I didn't lose much of consequence... and it mostly showed me that my freezer needed to be cleaned out. Heh. I had a craft show to do that Sunday, so I was rushing around to make up for lost crafting time to get ready. My Grampa got his power back also finally - he was in Naples, FL. Good thing he had a brother though with a generator, so he wasn't without power entirely.

My sister though... still nothing definitive. They reduced her dosage of thyroid medication *** to see if that is going to help. They had recently increased the dosage, so they are going to see what bringing it back down will do. We'll see what happens.

*** She has had to take it much of her life due to a small - something - they found near her pituitary that effected her thyroid's function. They never really did figure out what that "something" was. It showed up as a small black dot on her CAT scan.

How about you? How are you holding up? How is Mick doing?

We're both doing great, thanks for asking!

We're both more concerned now about you and your Sister. Please tell her we're praying for her. Not knowing sucks!

Glad you finally have power. I know what it's like, and finally figuring out you need to clean stuff out!

What kind of craft do you do? We have a local craft show around Christmas, and I love going, picking up hand painted ornaments. I want a tree with nothing but them in a few years.

Awesomo have they checked her for Lyme's, my sister-in-law tested positive for it, she just was not feeling right and really tired.  Sending prayers for her recovery. Glad your power is back on.  Living in tornado alley I know all about losing power, it is a pain.

Mick Lady, so glad you and Mick are doing well.  I love craft shows too.  We have a big one every year in Arkansas it is so much fun, we go for the weekend, its outside at this old mill.

I've been through the pituitary-parathyroid-thyroid thing, still am. The only thing I can suggest is that she try an endocrinologist, they might be more willing to look for a reason.

Right now mostly the knitting, though the demand for hats has gone down in the last couple years. I used to sell many more than I do now. I do have a custom order* (potentially two) to do at present though, so that should keep me busy for a couple of weeks... speaking of which: I still haven't forgotten about Mick's hat. I actually made him one, but now I think it's too big : ( . I have one type of yarn that is so soft, but it's sometimes hard to judge just how big it's going to knit up until it's too late and oops, it's huge! Heh. But I shall prevail and a hat will be made (I already have your colorful one with maybe a couple other choices).

Sometimes I think poor Jared needs a hat too - I see his hats sometimes and think, "I could make him a better one that would be so soft and comforting." Once you go bamboo, it's hard to go back to acrylic.

But I do other crafts as well. I make beaded (and other) Christmas ornaments (they're weird, and apparently only my sister-in-law and I think they are awesome.)* I loom bead bracelets (in fact I have a commissioned project of those I've got to get done, too, before X-mas). I sometimes do crafty things with paper and embossing. I used to embroider, but I can only focus on so many hobbies at a time, so it's been a while since I've done that one.

I agree on the love of the hand-painted and crafty ornaments. My tree at Christmas is full of them. I just picked up some more ornaments this past weekend at Buggy Days (a huge craft festival in our area) and I'll likely be picking up some more at Gourd Fest this weekend - they do amazing things with gourds. When I travel, I like to get ornaments from the craftspeople there to remind me of my trips. I have some beautiful ones from Honduras especially.

Do you craft? You should make some Christmas ornaments for your tree, too. There are so many cool kinds to make. I used to make some with my niece and nephew and they really enjoyed it. They still have the ornaments and put them on their tree each year.

* And actually - I misspoke / messed up. It was the custom order job that I had to get ready for after the power loss. I couldn't see my yarn very well to get it out and photographed (the lady wanted a type of hat I had and she saw at the show, but larger and with potentially different colors, so I needed to pull out all of my potential yarn choices and photograph them to e-mail, so she could choose... not so easy with no power). The craft show was actually the day before the storm - in my older age, I'm not so great at remembering the exact day stuff happened even if I remember what it was that happened. I did remember that the catching up I had to do was craft related however.

*** Maybe I'll send you one along with the hats eventually. I have waaay too many, and I'm sure my family is tired of getting them in their annual Christmas package - hee.

I've thought about making him a hat with Lorna's Laces Solemate, 55% superwash merino, 15% nylon and 30% Outlast, for his sweaty head/hair. But the yarn's not cheap so I hesitate to spend the time & $$ if I'm not sure he'd get it or use it!

Oh yeah, in yarn, the good stuff ain't cheap.

No, I'm fairly technologically impaired... and there is already so much out there on sites like Etsy. I'm such a tactile person - I hardly ever buy stuff online (except my E-Bay purchases of vintage buttons and jewelry for my hobby and my booth in the antique store) - so I like people to be able to touch my stuff and make sure they like it before they buy it. Now if I'm giving it away, that's different. Then it's a gift and if they want to regift, that's okay. But dealing with shipping and returns and all that - ehn, I don't think I could handle the annoyance. Now custom stuff is fine, because people are choosing their yarn and such and know what they are getting. And since they are part of the process, they're more invested and less likely to go "ehn maybe this isn't what I wanted after all."

Aww, that sucks! But Mick and I would love some hats! I PMed you our address right?

We'd be happy to pay, even if just for the cost of the yarn. I could show them off to my friends and get you some clients. This is Idaho after all!

Yup you did if I remember correctly - and if it's no longer there (it should be!), I'll PM again when Mick's is done. And they'll be my gift - your free advertising will be more than enough.

I'll PM you soon with some hats I have for you to choose a favorite!

Had no idea where to post this, so I figured here was safe. I read an article in the Parade magazine on the "Will & Grace" revival. It mentioned that Sean Hayes' character - Jack - is going to hawk his new brand of acting called "Jackting". It really pissed me off! Is some writer aware of what people call Jensen's "ackting"? If so, they plagiarized.

Or, you know, it's a natural amalgamation of the characters name Jack and his profession of acting LOL

Hi everyone - I've been having a problem getting onto spn-gossip3.dreamwidth.org for about 2-3 days and since this group is active, I thought I could get a quick answer and relieve my paranoia :)

I get a message that "the page isn't redirecting properly".  I tried on 3 browsers, and on two different tablets.   I also tried contacting the admin who modded that site when it was on Livejournal, but no answer.  After all that, it should be apparent that the site is down, but I wanted to 100% sure so I know if it's me or them.   Can someone please try that site and let me know what happens?   Thanks so much.

EDIT:  Nevermind - found solution on another site.  The fix was to create an account, even though I had been viewing anonymously since this site was created.  Oh well...

I'm quoting this so 7kstar can catch it. Girl, check in, please! We've been worried and no news is killing us!

AwesomO4000, same thing with your sister. I pay attention to this and I'm serious about caring. You guys are important to us and we care! I know I disappeared for awhile, but I'll never make the same mistake again.

Sorry, @Mick Lady (glad your feeling better!) working on first production and I'm really tired and not doing much checking in anywhere.  I see the doc next Monday, finally made myself set the appointment.

Health wise I'm not seeing much other than low energy after work.  Focus is lower but trying to not take pain pills may be part of that too.  Although I have given in a few days...chronic pain just sucks.

Working on writing a murder mystery with the students.  I had done half of it in 2010 so hoping to get a lot more done this year.  Maybe if it gets good enough will see if we can get it published...

Some days I think I really need to start finding a new career...see how scattered my thoughts are?  :)

May all that are dealing with health issues, natural disasters may you find relief soon.

Prayers for those dealing with Las Vegas...no words.

I have chronic pain too from rhumatory issues, my primary care physician prescribed Cymbalta. It is for depression and chronic pain. It has really helped me. More so than the medicines the rheumatologist has prescribed. I will be sending prayers that you find something that will help.

@7kstar if you any question pm me.

@catrox14... but at least the Broncos are kicking butt! Yay Broncos!

(It's weird that I'm a Broncos fan considering that I grew up in Massachusetts, lived in Florida, and now live in Georgia... but I've been a Bronco fan since at least the mid 80s. I think it started because of John Elway... and the team kept picking up former Gator players, so I liked watching them. Then they finally got a new coach... but why did Atlanta have to end up with Dan Reeves? As soon as they hired him I told hubby, "well that was stupid. He's not going to do a [darn] thing in Atlanta."** I remember watching the Broncos win Superbowl 32 in Indiana at My hubby's boss' house all crowded into the living room. That was an amazing game. Then the repeat the next year... I think that second one was the game where Elway did his helicopter leap over the defensive line. I don't think there's been a quarterback I've enjoyed watching as much since.)

** Okay so he had a good second season... but like with the Giants, it was mostly with players already on the team when he got there. (and the Broncos beat him in the Superbowl - Hah!) After that, his record went downhill fairly quickly... and he did end up with a losing record with the Falcons after 7 seasons - even with that 14-2 second season factored in.
