Is there an ESPY for Worst Team Performance Resulting in Victory?

I don't know but they set a record for fewest shots in a win in the Finals.

They actually doubled the record for fewest shots in a playoff game though. Back in the days of the New Jersey Trap the Devils once limited the Maple Leafs to 6 shots on net. The Leafs, unlike the Pens lost of course as Marty Brodeur earned a shut out for his 6 saves.

Thank god we're past those days. The Devils were smothering but every game they played was torture to watch.

As a Pens fan, I will admit that one advantage the Preds have is that their celebrity fans are hotter. Nicole Kidman and Carrie Underwood? While we have umm. . . Michael Keaton?

That was a really good win tonight for Nashville. I am glad that they got it and now it's starting to look like a series between them and the Penguins. Nashville has a great crowd, they brought a lot of energy to the game. Though I do wonder how many more catfish we may see being thrown onto the ice. It looks like someone may have thrown one pregame tonight and there was the one that was thrown at the start. One of the people that threw a catfish was actually giving instructions with pics on Twitter on how to sneak one into the arena. (He did end up getting escorted out). We may see more people continuing to throw them.

Jeff Jimerson!

Yep. Nashville wins for more attractive celebrity fans, but Pittsburgh's real & regular fans are hotter than Nashville's celebrity fans

Really, as mentioned, that was a great win for the Preds.  After that first goal I was like oh my since the stats are for real with that.  People were saying that the Pens could emulate 1992 and repeat with a sweep.  Some people; that would have been a shocker had it happened.  Really looking forward to how the Pens respond.  I don't know or think they'll win on Monday, but I don't believe they have had back-to-back complete disasters since fall of 2015

To be fair all the celebrity anthem singers so far have been big fans or at least been going to preds games long before this season.  They are "real and regular" fans for Nashville. Even Carrie went to games before she met Mike.  Nashville's games are rarely seen on NBC, NBC sports, or the NHL network until the playoffs. They're the ones showing the celebrities and acting like it is a big deal that they have all these country fans. They've always had country fans, and they've always been rowdy like the regular fans. They just never played this long into the season which coincided with all the country artists being off at the same time for the cma festival and cmt awards.

Pekka Rinne had a lot of great saves tonight. Especially during the second period. During that one sequence in the second I thought the puck was going in, but he did a really impressive job of stopping it. I'm also glad that they got that call right about the goal that Gaudreau made. It's nice seeing rookies score in the finals.  Overall, I  thought that the predators played well again tonight and I am glad they tied up the series. I am looking forward in seeing what happens in the next two games. Maybe this will even end up going to a game seven.

Nashville, I don't blame you if you are salty as hell, but that was a great game.

Damn right we're salty that poor officiating cost yet another goal.  Who knows what the preds would've done with the momentum after that. Still proud of how far this young team made it and the future looks bright.

That disallowed goal is a black mark on the Stanley Cup Finals.

That one's gonna go down in Nashville lore like Hull's foot in the crease for Buffalo or Gretzky's high stick for Toronto. They'll remember that forever.

At least it happened in the second and not late in the third or in OT.

NHL  officiating has hit rock bottom.   How many non-calls for penalties happened throughout the play-offs?    And when a player did something serious that warranted a suspension (Niskanin's cross-check on Crosby,  or Sisson's Game 5 match penalty)   the league just brushed it off.     NHL is the only major sport that has a different set of rules for the regular season and play-offs.   Look at the Nashville-Anaheim series--   had to be the most vicious  series I have seen in 40 years.     :)

I am going to miss Fleury. Even though we knew it was coming,  the whole city of Pittsburgh is kind of in mourning with his departure to Vegas.

As a fan, you never really know what a player is like off the field of play (**cough OJ**), but Fleury is someone who, by every account I have heard/read, is universally admired by his teammates.

And he was damn good goaltender for the Pens to boot.

I hate the NHL's playoff format.

My Leafs are about to set a franchise record in wins and very likely points. Franchise record for a 100 year old team, and they are gonna draw Boston or Tampa Bay in the first round.

They are the third best team in the conference, they are the sixth best team in the league and their round one opponent is gonna be the second best team in the conference or the (possibly) third best team in the league. And if they win they get to play the other, the possibly best team in the league in the second freaking round.

I'm so unbelievably salty, and the regular season still needs to wrap.

Now I know how Washington feels every year drawing the Pens in either round one or round two.

Oh my god NHL, can you stop being a laughing stock for one freaking season and just look at what EVERY OTHER LEAGUE, all of them more successful than you, are doing with their playoffs.

Always fun when it comes down to games 81 and 82!

Flyers, Panthers, Blues and Avs still fighting to get in

Bruins, Bolts, Pens, Blue Jackets, Devils, Kings, Sharks and Ducks all jockeying for position.

Good luck sports fans.

It gets worse.  It has been confirmed there was a mix up in identifying one of the bodies.   The named young man is alive, and another young man who was thought to have survived is dead.

The Avs have probably the toughest matchup.

Rough stuff drawing the Preds in round one. Hopefully MacKinnon stays hot and can steal a game or two for them.

THE PLAYOFFS START TODAY!!!

I have foolishly chosen my bracket with my heart this year and have my Leafs going all the way. But they called me crazy when I picked the Pens two years ago and Nashville last year, and I won both of those brackets!

Good luck to all the teams starting us off tonight (Minnesota/Winnipeg, Philadelphia/Pittsburgh, and Los Angeles/Las Vegas)

This looks to be the last season that my ECHL team is affiliated with Toronto so go Leafs!

I love the Solar Bears, but I understand where the Leafs are coming from here, they really like taking a firm hand on their prospects and it's easier to get to a Canadian team, and it would also be great if they could own the team. It would be even better if they could somehow buy the Brampton Beast or found another team closer to Toronto, but failing that moving their own team into St John's would improve accessibility over being affiliated with the Solar Bears.

Sigh. I'll miss you though Shades.

But more importantly, GO LEAFS GO!

I understand the move as well and I think most of the fans here in Orlando do, or at least us season ticket holders do.  Many of us are hoping to affiliate with Tampa going forward as it would make a lot of sense.  And yes, Shades is the best!

The Golden Knights pre-game is like Medieval Times on ice.

I live in Las Vegas and have attended several Knights games, and the experience is pretty epic. They have a Mardi Gras-style marching band, DJ booth and everybody dances during commercial breaks. We saw them play back in January against the Preds, and even the out of town fans were having a blast despite being in hostile territory.

If any of you are out here during the season, come to T-Mobile. It's one of the best Vegas experiences you can have.

As for the game, I'm glad we won, but damn, my heart goes out to Quick. He's playing his ass off and his teammates are letting him down.

There has been a new rule passed by the NHL concerning  penalties-   Section 4- 1A-  "A player in the vicinity of his own goal will be assessed a two minute minor for cross checking  ONLY when he has forcefully struck an opposing player in the head region more than 8 times..."       Gotta love play-off hockey!

Also if a team challenges a call and loses the challenge.  A 2 min penalty is given.

I can't watch the Bruins/Leafs game anymore, it's becoming predictable. The Bruins will do goalie interference or crash a player into the boards and the refs do not see anything wrong. But when a Leafs do something similar it's PENALTY BOX/3 game suspension. It feels like the series is rigged so unevenly it's not funny anymore.

Not really the same thing, the Avs weren't an expansion team, they were a relocated team. The Nordiques were quite good the previous year finishing first in the division.

Only down one now! Nate MacKinnon putting the team on his back just like Taylor Hall in Jersey.

Meanwhile Bruins fans are going insane about the botched Delay of Game call last night (admittedly a bad call, but it wasn't exactly a crime of epic proportions) and the missed icing that led to Auston Matthews' goal.

They still think the reffing is biased towards Toronto after Kadri got suspended for half the freaking series. Meanwhile Marchand can take a two handed baseball swing at Rielly and it's coincidental minors.

Leafs still won last night though. Thursday night the Leafs can climb back into this series, and then we get Kadri back for Game 5.

Yes, the running joke was that the Colorado avalanche didn't win the Stanley Cup in 1996. The Quebec Nordiques did.
