Inquisitionist January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 Sean's former writing partner tightens the screws on Sean and Beverly; Oh, my gosh, so many possibilities here. Beverly's reaction at the end of Ep. 4-03 seemed to indicate that the partner has a case for creative input -- and has documented that to boot! Does he end up getting co-equal credit with S&B or elbowing B out altogether? Either way, his incentives and desires look very different: he'd probably LOVE to have a big name attached and kowtow to the networks just to get some kind of paycheck. Fun times ahead!! 1 Link to comment
Danny Franks January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 Having seen the episode, I'll offer up one quote: Carol: "I thought it'd be a little weird but once you get down there it's like, 'oh, I know you!'" This show just gets funnier. 7 Link to comment
Ailianna January 27, 2015 Share January 27, 2015 "I just keep picturing the four of you in that shower!" "You're counting the crab?" "Well, yeah..." 7 Link to comment
RedHackle January 27, 2015 Share January 27, 2015 (edited) Can't believe how good this show continues to be; first off, Matt's complete obliviousness to the irony of his ex "cheating" on him: priceless. And actually, he even managed to make me just the teensiest bit sad for him - even if his motives in getting back with her are less than pure; that just makes it all the funnier. I am also loving the bejabbers out of the Carol-Helen relationship - so happy for Carol to be having some fun. I know she's made insane choices, but I still like her, I love how decent they have Helen being (so far, anyway. I hope they don't turn her into a lunatic.) If only we can find a way to get Merc to hire Sean's ex-partner to write this insane game show. If they can bring in Andrew Leslie to direct, I'd be the happiest person alive. And yes, Carol's line quoted by Danny Franks, above, was pure gold. Brilliant! Edited January 27, 2015 by RedHackle 5 Link to comment
Fisher King January 27, 2015 Share January 27, 2015 I love Carol, too, even if she did sleep with skeevy Merc. 1 Link to comment
xaxat January 27, 2015 Share January 27, 2015 "You want a bagel?" This show does relationships so well. I was pretty sure their relationship was going to fall apart again, but I was rooting for Diane and Matt to get back together. Even knowing "Matt's" history, his proposal seemed so heartfelt and sincere. So nice to see Carol happy. . . which is something that is also probably not going to last. 3 Link to comment

lucindabelle February 1, 2015 Share February 1, 2015 Org after you quoted those lines I have to watch it again, It's great seeing carol happy! Even though IRL some people m women, are not bi given a chance, But I totally believe carol is... She's like a baby animal who imprints on her boss (not my analogy but borrowing freely from whoever started it). It would be nice and refreshing for helen to be decent! Awwwwww. I want matt and his ec back. I love them together, "Best money I ever spent!" Link to comment
scrb February 1, 2015 Share February 1, 2015 Matt could show growth and self-awareness if he overlooked the so-called infidelity by the ex and still tried to get back together with her ... Nah, you can't have that. Link to comment
Saph February 1, 2015 Share February 1, 2015 I loved the lunchtime talk that Carol & Bev had. When Carol admitted that she was finally "happy," with Helen, and Beverly replied, "Maybe it was just about finding the right boss!" There were so many veiled implications in Beverly's response--for one, you don't necessarily have to sleep with your boss in order to get along with them. Carol was getting along great with Helen even before sex entered the picture, but she is so used to having sex with her supervisors, and she keeps falling into the same trap over and over. I think Beverly was trying to point out that Helen is a good boss and not just a sexual partner, but I think Carol didn't have a clue what Beverly meant. I hope that Carol eventually comes to that realization on her own, without getting hurt, and I hope that things with Helen don't end up badly. Great acting by all these women! Link to comment
Ailianna February 1, 2015 Share February 1, 2015 We haven't seen all of Carol's relationships with her bosses, but based on Merc, and the description of the first boss, and definitely Carol describing how Helen was there for her, and not just a sock with the wrong foot in it (which I thought was a brilliant metaphor, by the way) I think Helen may be different for her not just by being decent, or by being female, but by being actually into Carol for herself, and not as convenient sex. Helen was just as giggly and handsy and showing just as much infatuation as Carol was. And I think that's a first for Carol. 1 Link to comment
maraleia February 2, 2015 Author Share February 2, 2015 Carol and Helen are so damn adorable...that is all!!! 1 Link to comment
lucindabelle February 2, 2015 Share February 2, 2015 Yes they were absolutely adorable together and seem in love. Who knows merc might have been like that once but we came in at the tail end of their relationship. I loved the way helen calmed her down and then was kindaoking her. And carol seemed so flattered to be told she was a natural at something. Helen just seems so nice, so understanding.l. It's an adjustment! Link to comment
Sakura12 February 2, 2015 Share February 2, 2015 (edited) Carol and Helen are cute together, hopefully she's not a mental case. Carol and Bev still have the best, most realistic female friendship on tv. I really love when they make each other repeat what they said in a nicer way. "less surprised" or something. I also love how they are writing the actresses pregnancy. This is probably the best way I've seen yet. Edited February 2, 2015 by Sakura12 Link to comment
whiporee February 2, 2015 Share February 2, 2015 (edited) Carol: "I thought it'd be a little weird but once you get down there it's like, 'oh, I know you!'" Maybe the greatest line in television. If I had a dream scenario, it would be the new guy taking over OOU, and Carol and Rebecca letting Sean and Bev do Pucks right. I get the feeling that everyone involved might be willing to turn them loose now, even Matt (I do have to say that I should have said this last week, but his staring at the camera after the line he didn't like was perfect). That might be a good trade off for them to let the other show go. Sean's partner has a legal case, but he's a twerp who'll screw up the new show. Be is right when she says they may as well head home now. But if they were allowed to turn Pucks into their original vision, that might be fun to watch. joelene February 2, 2015 Share February 2, 2015 The line that got the biggest laugh from me was "Oh good, the irony bus has arrived." 2 Link to comment
slowpoked February 3, 2015 Share February 3, 2015 (edited) Eileen Jaffee has been a great addition this season as well. The line "Legally. According to Legal." got me cracking up for some weird reason. This show has a lot of great complex female characters, I love it! I'm wondering why this show isn't getting more love. I know it did win some awards and a few nominations when it first came out, but this season has been the best comedic season of a show I remember in years. Showtime should be campaigning hard for this. Carol Rance needs to be known by mainstream audiences more! Edited February 3, 2015 by slowpoked 6 Link to comment
Mama No Life February 3, 2015 Share February 3, 2015 I think Matt went into this thing with Diane for selfish reasons, but he then he went all in and he is hurt. Irony, yes, but it seemed sincere and I felt for him. Good acting by LeBlanc. Hilarious lines you all have mentioned. I enjoyed the girls laughing at Merc's list of old/dead game show hosts.... 1 Link to comment
ganesh February 3, 2015 Share February 3, 2015 Can't believe how good this show continues to be; first off, Matt's complete obliviousness to the irony of his ex "cheating" on him: priceless. I don't think he was oblivious. When Bev pointed out the irony, he said, 'you don't have to point out the irony.' I know it was slapsticky, but the "I have crabs," *they look down*. "No! These crabs!" It's all in the timing and it was brilliant. Then later, the ex wife was psyched he got the whole crate of them. I do hope Carol and Helen are just normal. Like Helen isn't nuts. I thought it was refreshing that Carol wasn't freaking out. She admitted feeling weird, but was having fun. I actually felt bad when she said, 'we actually do stuff and she likes me.' I figured the new Brit was going to want to work on the show. Honestly though, if "all he did was type the notes" I'd go with the court case. I have a feeling Sean doesn't remember for sure. I still hope the show does well. 1 Link to comment
Ailianna February 4, 2015 Share February 4, 2015 I keep meaning to mention the scene where Andy and Myra figure out that Carol and Helen are a couple, and the entire conversation between them is Andy um-hmm-ing and mostly Myra grunting in answer. I think the only actual word was "No!" from Myra at the beginning. But it was clear that they understood, and the audience understood, and it was awesome. 5 Link to comment
