How do they drop so many viewers???

I'm really starting to think Average Joe finds the show as basic as some of us do as well.

I'd like to think the rise in LoT was people tuning in for the Ray centric ep 😍

Hope it was For Ray and not the Forced "Natari" ship which Klemmer acts like is not forced and says Epic romance started by a sexually charged(GAG) tie straightening. Hope Nora kicks some Ass to get her Ray Back

They've lost something like 390,000 viewers since the last episode before the hiatus. The last time I saw a drop that big was in Season 4 after Olicity broke up. Now, I know the CW doesn't care but consistently dropping viewers for 3 weeks straight? That's not a good trend.

Don't the writers get paid regardless?

Good thing Beth locked her deal in before it tanked like the Titanic.

Seems like there is no onus on them to perform as they get paid anyway without needing to deliver so they keep writing trash.

ETA: I posted the Live+7 ratings for the weeks of April 1-7 and April 8-14 in the Legends forum.  I didn’t post them here since there was no Arrow episodes those weeks, but if you’re interested, here’s the links for the posts:

That live + 7 number will be interesting. Are people going to bother catching up on the show.

This viewer's answer is eventually, probably.  But I currently have 2 eps sitting on my dvr with no urge to watch them (or really, fastforward through them, because honestly it'll take me about 10 minutes to watch the stuff I care about, if that).

I'm not surprise the last 3 episodes have been awful.  I'm only holding on because of Felicity and for my son Arrow is now background noise while he kickboxing.

Yes and no.

The writers get paid the base episode fee regardless of how many people watch. In Arrow's case, most of the writers are also co-producers and paid some form of production fee or salary.

However, any later earnings - residuals - are based on post views. For Arrow, this would include any North American syndication for any broadcast episode (in this particular case "broadcast" means both actual broadcast TV that you watch with an antenna and cable); international syndication (typically series bundled on a pro-rata basis), DVD/Blu-ray sales (same), streaming (per episode) and any other post views.

(For instance, if a fan/media convention remembers that they are supposed to get permission from the studio before screening an episode/film at a con and in most cases pay the studio for public broadcast.* In practice I can't think of a single convention that has bothered to do this, but I continue to live in hope.)

So post-view revenue is directly tied to sales/viewers. If viewers don't watch an episode later, the writers won't get that revenue.

*For the full episode/film. Playing clips at a con is perfectly fine and covered under fair use.

The show is rubbish so I can imagine people not bothering to tune in.

I would rather watch Rachel Ray than Dinah and Rene. Felicity clips I see on youtube. I was a HUGE fan of the show.

I can imagine average Joe tuning out and never looking back.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the Live+7 for April 29.  The full weekly report won’t be out until next week, but here’s the numbers for #720 - Confessions.

Is there a lone figure for just the +7 bit? I want to know if it's live ratings bringing down the Live + 7 figure or both.

Hehe the most interesting thing about this show now is it's falling ratings!

Not totally sure if this is what you mean, but the gains underneath the bolded number is the difference between the Live+7 and the Live+SD.  If you go back and click on the Monday ratings links, you can see that for each of the weeks.  If you’re interested, I might post a list later today when I get a few minutes.

Ahh thanks! Yes that's what I mean! The SD threw me off until I realised it meant same day.

Yes please to the list if you have the time!

You are likely right and I am already annoyed by the unjustified claims that will be made that the ratings went up once EBR left.  Sigh

I'm not so sure it will help. They've said before that there isn't much cross viewing between shows outside the crossover.

I think that there might be more crossover next year because if Oliver has gone off with the Monitor, presumably a big chunk of the next season will be setting up the cross over.
