DeLurker November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 I was thinking we needed a thread for duets. Mine include an artist I normally don't like, but I don't think that should be a factor for an entry. For reasons that escape me, some of my favorite duets include Stevie Nicks - an artist I've never cared for with Fleetwood Mac nor on her own. But pair her up and I'll be damned if I don't enjoy the song despite an overall distaste for her. Needles and Pins - Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty* Stop Draggin' My Heart Around - Stevie & TP Leather & Lace - Stevie & Don Henley Whenever I Call You Friend - Stevie & Kenny Loggins This next one is a bigger mystery since individually I don't like either artist so truly a case (for me) of the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Picture - Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock * a cover, but the songs been covered a lot. I was floored to find out it was co-written by Sonny Bono. 1 Link to comment

Bastet November 30, 2014 Share November 30, 2014 (edited) I've just realized I like a whole lot of duets, and agree with everything listed so far. Some other favorites: Pretty much anything Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton have done together, especially Islands in the Stream. Same with George Jones and Tammy Wynette, especially Golden Ring, and Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, especially Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man. Kenny Rogers with lots of people, really - Don't Fall in Love With a Dreamer with Kim Carnes, We've Got Tonight with Sheena Easton, Anyone Who Isn't Me Tonight with Dottie West. (His versions of the last two with Dolly Parton are pretty damn great, too.) Sonny and Cher, I Got You Babe Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, Empire State of Mind Willie Nelson and Ray Charles, Seven Spanish Angels Eminem and Rihanna, Monster David Frizzell and Shelly West, You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma Neil Tennant and Dusty Springfield, What Have I Done to Deserve This? Tanya Tucker and T Graham Brown, Don't Go Out This probably doesn't count, since it was a mix of two versions rather than a true duet, but what the hell -- Keith Whitley and Alison Krauss, When You Say Nothing At All Speaking of Alison Krauss, she and Brad Paisley singing Whiskey Lullaby Freddie Mercury and David Bowie, Under Pressure Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald, On My Own (Oops, this is now a duplicate; it hadn't been mentioned at the time I started my musings.) Johnny Cash and June Carter, Jackson Aretha Franklin and Annie Lennox, Sisters Are Doin' it For Themselves Roy Orbison and k.d. lang, Crying Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne, Close My Eyes Forever Eve and Gwen Stefani, Let Me Blow Ya Mind Patty Loveless and George Jones, You Don't Seem to Miss Me Jennifer Warnes and Joe Cocker, Up Where We Belong Another Jennifer Warnes, another movie soundtrack -- she and Bill Medley, The Time of My Life Peaches and Herb, Reunited Brandy and Monica, The Boy is Mine Simon & Garfunkel, Bridge Over Troubled Water Philip Bailey and Phil Collins, Easy Lover Reba McEntire and Linda Davis, Does He Love You Edited December 1, 2014 by Bastet 1 Link to comment
Rick Kitchen November 30, 2014 Share November 30, 2014 (edited) Speaking of Reba (whom I adore), here's Reba and Kelly Clarkson in one of their many duets (Kelly is married to Reba's stepson): Edited December 1, 2014 by Rick Kitchen 3 Link to comment
DeLurker December 1, 2014 Author Share December 1, 2014 Oh gosh - you guys have brought up so many that I had completely forgotten about! Because I am inept, I can't embed the video, but Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby and David Bowie is unexpectedly awesome. It really sounded likte the worst idea ever to me, but I love it and it is seasonal. 3 Link to comment
Jeebus Cripes December 1, 2014 Share December 1, 2014 Is this still considered a duet being that Boyz II Men are a group? Technically a Keith Urban song, but this live duet with John Mayer is outstanding: 2 Link to comment
DeLurker December 19, 2014 Author Share December 19, 2014 Heard some old Steve Winwood on the car radio this morning which reminded me of Higher Love, the duet of Steve and Chaka Khan. Loved the back in the day. 1 Link to comment
VCRTracking December 30, 2014 Share December 30, 2014 (edited) I love Dilemma by Nelly w/Kelly Rowland. The song is already cute but the video is even more so. The cameo by Patti LaBelle at the end is also great. Edited December 30, 2014 by VCRTracking 1 Link to comment
