The Tivo ep description for today included this line: "Marlena and Roman rush to support Sami." The writer has an interesting definition of "rush," because to me it looked more like a leisurely stroll. At least they made it to the house by the halfway mark. But of course, what happens when they get there? Sami not unreasonably suggests they're there to say "I told you so," and they deny it, but they don't so much as give her a hug, and Marlena instead asks to see the grandchildren so they can spend time with them. Yes, I'm really feeling the "support" for Sami there.

The awesome thing was Hope showing up and saying she was surprised to see Marlena and Roman there. Nice BURN, Hope! And then those dumbasses didn't even get it - Roman actually informed her that they are Sami's parents. Yes, exactly, Roman. Way to reinforce Hope's point.

I am really enjoying all of Sami's lines that have a double meaning. And when she found the evidence - did EJ have like no cognitive dissonance whatsoever about storing his wedding rings in the same safe as all the evidence he could use to ruin his wife-to-be? - props to her for doing what is so rarely done on TV and just burning it all immediately. No putting it in a "safe place" of her own so that it could be inevitably discovered by somebody else later. I also really liked the touch of Sami using her smartphone to get the safe combination, because I was just reading an article a few days ago about exactly that - people can use their smartphones or Google Glass to record from a distance while you're at the ATM or whatever and figure out your ATM number from the recording. So nice PSA there, DAYS.

So we got through the graduation stuff - I think we did, anyway, I admit I was FFing all of it - so that means we can get right on to the board meeting? I hope!

For KM being so terrible and unbearable to watch she certainly takes up a lot of discussion doesn't she?

It's a truly new low on this show if we're left to AS to carry the story and "bring it" acting wise to keep a story going.

LMAO!

Cognitive dissonance? Elvis?

Scott isn't incapable, but there isn't much subtlety in his performance; I've never thought Elvis was drowning in remorse.

I think sometimes EJ's face does break a bit, and he does loolk uncomfortable when certain lines about trust and fidelity are said. Then there are times he looks like he suspects something, but then immediately wants to deny it. Therefore, I think something is coming through in his performance. I think he's doing more with the material than the writing is giving him which has made EJ exceedingly dumb (i.e a fiancee who cheated who leaves the stupid evidence of his cheating lying around in the house).  I also think he has  committed to a particular motivation, but maybe that motivation is at odds with what the writers and possibly KM have committed to (and I don't even know if the writers told her to commit to that particular motivation. She and JS have such different interpretations of the storyline, maybe the writers are just throwing anything that will stick

If EJ was storing all of that evidence in a safe just so he could use it at a later date on Sami, that does make it harder to feel sorrry for him. Sami may be a brat at times, but EJ seems to be fully aware of that and still wants her. She's not putting on a fake face with  him (except for this revenge plot). He knows exactly who she is, and yet still wanted to marry her. He knows she's always getting into scrapes with guns and saving people's male members from those guns. That's not a secret to him. He goes out of his way to want to know everything to see what he can do to save her, even when she's not asking him to. However, he's stupidly told her that she can always trust him blah blah. He's put on a different personality for her in that regard, which kind of makes her look like a fool. In that regard, I can see why she's ticked. I felt sorry for him at the start of this thing, but in the end I'm siding with Sami because EJ knows exactly who she is whereas he was dumb enough to give stupid speeches about trust. Maybe if he hadn't done that she'd be less ticked off. Meanwhile, he's got all this evidence on her and his son in her safe. Is that where he left the Abigail photo?

Why was it necessary to have Maggie talking trash about Sami? She needs to be dismissed from her role as a Sponsor. No one this judgmental and hateful should be allowed near alcoholics who are trying to get their lives together. Her treatment of Theresa is proof of that.

I'm tired of people who don't have legitimate fight with Sami bad mouthing her.  Sami has never done anything to either Maggie or the boring twit.

I'm enjoying Sami while I can because even though EJ is beyond dumb, I figure this SL will end like so many others.  Stefano will show up at the last minute, know everything, have all the power, and once again save EJ's worthless ass.

What I want to happen is for Kate to get DE, Sami to get CW, and EJ, Stefano, and Kristen to go to prison or die.

I don't get why Maggie is badmouthing Sami when she's married to Victor.

I do think badmouthing can happen even from simply  seeing a certain person's reputation, but since Maggie is married to Victor I figure in her case she would be a little different. Maybe Stephano might be worse than Victor so that's the only person I can think of who Maggie can call out with a straight face.

JS used to be more than capable, but he has the same look on his face in nearly every scene these days. When that look is "I think I just shit my pants", it's not a good one!

I can see why people in town would dislike Sami even if she hasn't messed with them directly, so I don't have a problem with them talking about her, but yeah, Maggie: glass houses.

JS don't even try anymore. Taking a break was probably the best thing for him.

I know Sami is stupid enough to believe she can take Stefano down, but I find it hard to believe that Kate thinks they can. Stefano always win.

I don't think Sami cares about going after Stefano. She only wants to take down EJ and Abby.

There's is absolutely no reason why Abby, Jen, and Adrienne need to appear in the same episode. I will say that I'm surprised Adrienne didn't go off on another tirade about how Will and his mother are a bad influence on Sonny.

Caroline and Theresa's conversation about Eve be the worse sister was amusing.

Abby looked like Mrs. Butterworth today, she looked absolutely horrendous plus the granny dress did her no favors. See how selfish she is, not thinking about how Sami feels but more concerned with EJ getting arrested. Goodness Abby WTF do you think Mistress means? This is why I absolutely detest this chracter. She's expecting EJ to feel love or something for her? Then bitch sticks her nose in Dan & Jenn's business. Geez Abby, another word you don't understand is the word "break" which means Dan shouldn't know about Jenn's business and vice versa. Once again Abby saying she knows Jenn wants to talk to Dan. How does she know? Oh that's right Abby knows everyone in Salem, but how wrong she was when Jenn didn't want to talk to Dan about the lawsuit. Abby smiles when she learns Ben is there for her but she couldn't help but talk to Ben about EJ, WTF??? Like anyone wants to hear about someone you had an affair with, even though Ben doesn't know yet.

Now lets talk about Dan he's being stupid too, saying that Jenn can come and talk to him. He's so full of shit cause he would cut Jenn off and not let her speak and get a word in because Jenn isn't praising how awesome he is and how upset and how much time he needs. His reasoning for this break up is the most stupidest thing I've ever heard of in my life. Still butt hurt.

Why doesn't Dan call Maggie, Mom? He calls her by her first name? Is there a reason why?

The "Eve" music is killing me. Especially today with the "Yeaaaahhhh" and Eve really, you can't do no better than Dan. Why do all the women in Salem find him hot when there are other good looking men walking around. Dan isn't the only one in town. Eve can go kick rocks.

I got a lot of eyecandy today though with T, Sonny, & JJ in their 4th of July wear. T and Sonny shirtless was nice too (I like to point out that muscles don't do much for me) don't get me wrong they're nice on certain people like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, but Sonny and T look good without them.

ShadowSixx, Maggie is Daniel's birth mother.  Years ago Maggie donated or had eggs stored but not for conceiving, I can't remember the details.  Anyway Victor's best friend and his wife wanted a baby badly but couldn't conceive so Victor arranged to use Maggie's eggs for his best friend and wife. I believe that Victor had no clue who's eggs they belonged too.  That child was Daniel.  Victor is Daniel's god father.

Actually the only reason that Daniel was made Maggie's son is because Daniel's daughter Melanie was extremely close to Maggie and they always had a grandmother/granddaughter relationship.  So when the writer's made Melanie, Daniel and Carly's daughter they saw an opening to cement the Maggie/Melanie relationship by making Maggie, Daniel's birth mother.

Ironically Melanie is no longer on the show and we are stuck with Maggie being a meddling mother to her middle aged son Daniel.  Daniel does still call her Maggie sometimes but does refer to her as his mother.

What is sad is that Maggie used to have this really sweet, endearing mother/son relationship with Lucas that sort of got pushed to the way side for her relationships with Brady and Daniel.  Since Maggie now only exists to be a meddlesome mother, we never get anymore scenes with her and Lucas.

I always thought that a good storyline would of been to put Maggie in the middle of the Daniel and Lucas rivalry.  It would of been nice to see Maggie conflicted between both her "sons".  Or at least have the nerve to bitch Daniel out for what he did to Lucas.

In the new promo, it looks like Sami confronts Abigail privately. Maybe Abigail is getting off easy. I guess Jennifer finds out, but big whoop. At least it's not a public tongue-lashing. The private tongue-lashing makes it even harder to feel sorry for Abigail, since I would expect anyone to confront the mistress  (or whatever it was she was) privately at least.  At some point, when something like this is found out, you can't expect the fiance/wife to  be THAT quiet about it. I guess Abigail is crying because her Mommy finds out? It makes sense she would cry, but I was still laughing at her. The  background music was a bit bizarre, but what else is knew...I guess the moaning is reserved only for Eve?

EJ is aging mighty fast.

I wonder if there's  video of the shower incident.

Why can't it be a public execution, everyone needs to find out what Abby is. If Sami isn't going to do it, then Kate should do it since she knows about it. Abby better not get off easy.

I wish Carrie were here to see this. Maybe she and Sami could finally bond over something.

I can't get over how pathetic Abigal looks when Sami says "you were naked having sex with my husband!" I guess I would have expected the waterworks when Sami called her a slut or a whore (not that I'm saying Sami should use the words, but rather noting the frequency with which they're used by everybody on the show). Since the crying is coming during the relation of an actual fact that nobody can dispute rather than during an insult, Abigails' crying comes off seeming more pathetic...like when Dr. Phil tells one of the people in the chair what they did and they start crying out of nowhere, but you're a little weary of their crying because what Dr. Phil said is actually true -- like there's no way around the words because they're a fact rather than simply an insult.

I don't understand Maggie badmouthing Sami because they used to be on good terms.  When Lucas was in prison, and wouldn't see Sami, Maggie would tell Sami about her visits with Lucas, and she kept urging Lucas to let Sami come see him.  Then when Lucas was in the hospital after his accident when he found out about Chloe's cheating, and started drinking again, Maggie, Sami, and Will were the ones who persuaded Lucas to go to rehab.

I wonder why Sami didn't go for a public reveal?  Maybe someone else does it?

Do these writers not realize that this revenge story is the most exciting thing they've got going on right now? Why are they trying to mess things up by having Sami expose that trash in private. That's not even Sami's style.

I think Abigail might get exposed, but maybe it won't be by Sami?

Perhaps little Ciara really will be the one to do it! Goodness knows EJ didn't know how to properly hide that stupid photo. He went to all that effort to try and kill Nick, but left the photo lying around the mansion? Wtf? When you're that careless while plotting murders over your infidelity, you deserve to get caught.

I wonder if Ben will find out. If the old Ben were finding out, I wouldn't care. But the new one is kind of hot. Therefore, I want to see if he'll realize that what will make him infinitely desirable to Abigail is to have a wife.

I also wonder if Jennifer will stop worrying about her love life.

I guess the easiest way for everyone to find out is to tell motor-mouth Adrienne.

LeftPhalange, Bill and Lucas are on good terms now.  Growing up Kate told Lucas that his father was an officer in the service I believe.  Bill never knew about Lucas.  Bill has always been incredibly creepy to me.  He sort of used Kate back in the day as an escape between his screwed up marriage to Laura.  Bill sort of took advantage of Kate being a grieving mother over Austin and Billy's "murder", she realized that Bill was never going to leave Laura for her.  She found herself pregnant with Lucas and alone, with only Marlena as her friend.  That is when Stefano came in and persuaded her to become a high class escort for his rich business friends.  Kate used that money to take care of Lucas and put herself through school and become an executive.

If you check out the old clips on youtube, of the last couple of times that Bill has come back to Salem his scenes with Kate are always interesting.  In one of them, I believe when Alice dies and Kate stops by Bill actually apologizes to Kate for the way he treated her back then.  Bill always plays the scene as if he regrets to some extent picking Laura over Kate.

Ironically a lot of new viewers always think that Will is named after Bill Horton, but he is actually named after Billie.  It is a holdover from when Austin was presumed to be Will's father, but Lucas and Billie have always been close to, so Lucas never once thought of changing his name.  In fact back when Will was born Lucas would of never named Will after Bill.  They were still very much strangers then.

Bill has always been incredibly creepy

Such an understatement!  That the show has not constantly mined the fact that Mike was conceived when Bill raped Laura is a mystery to me.  JJ and Abby learn their father once raped their aunt but nothing about how their grandfather raped their grandmother and conceived their uncle?  There's a lot of story potential just by having the younger characters learn about their family histories.

That was sort of a retcon.  Bill did have an affair with a woman named Kate back in the 70's.  What they did was merge that "Kate" with Kate Roberts.  They just sort of changed around her background.  Kate Roberts was around the hospital back then because she was being treated for not only being a battered wife, but for her grief over Austin and Billy being killed in a car accident.  That is how she met and became friends with Marlena.  This is also where she met Bill.

They essentially just took Bill's mystery affair with a woman named Kate and made her and Kate Roberts the same woman when Kate returned to Salem back in the early 90's.

I really can't imagine what for, but maybe she needs Abby's help with another part of her plan. And so she's going to guilt Abby into it.

Bill sort of took advantage of Kate being a grieving mother over Austin and Billy's "murder", she realized that Bill was never going to leave Laura for her.

Kate thought Austin and Billie were dead? I remember very clearly the scene in which Billie told Kate that Curtis raped her as a child. She'd been yelling at Kate about not finding her and Austin all these years, wondering if Kate had even thought about them, and Kate said something about trying not to think about it, because she couldn't bear the thought of what might have been happening, "Maybe you were being hurt or neglected," and then Billie dropped the bomb.

just a couple of (shallow) comments about today's lakeside episode:

Ben: Helllllo abs! wow he may not be much in the acting but I think he's giving Brady a run for his money in the best body in Salem contest.

It was really sweet seeing Sonny's mom being completely supportive of WilSon (for a change) and the way she was gushing over Ari was adorable. She's gonna spoil her (sort-of) granddaughter rotten and Will and Sonny are gonna love every minute of it. Speaking of Sonny (sigh, I'm saying it again) why won't they please let Sonny keep his chest hair? I personally think Freddie is way sexier normally. Can I get a "so say we all" on this?

As for today's show, a pleasant sort of nothing day IMO.  Except, of course, for that sad sack they put Jenn in (wardrobe must really hate her), and Abigail's odd drive-by at Dan's apartment.  In what world other than the Horton World would an early 20something taking a proactive interest in her mothers sex life not be considered inappropriate at best, creepy at the very least.  And why didn't bells go off for Ben when he saw that for a 4th of July picnic, Abigail shows up with her hair in some sort of twist that made her look like she'd draped her small intestine on her head.   Who goes to a picnic like that?

And Theresa and Caroline - best part of the show.  Theresa shows her soft side with Caroline which goes a long way towards making her much more than a one-note villian.  And I think that having Eve in town will further that.  It would be nice if after the initial antagonism, Eve and Theresa save their wrath for Jenn and not each other.

Oh - one more thing - the actor playing JJ brings a naturalism to the character that I haven't seen in a young character in a long, long time -as does the actor playing Paige.  They're both good and getting better.  They're good enough for me to believe their characters - not all the adults can do the same.

Black Knight, from what I remember both stories may be true.  Originally Curtis kidnapped Billie and Austin so that may have been the timeframe where Kate wasn't looking for them because she was basically this scared little wife.  Then there was a point where Curtis showed up and produced evidence that Billie and Austin had been killed in a car accident to throw it in Kate's face.  After that Curtis changed their names, "Austin and Billie" are not their original names.  He did this so that Kate would never find them.

This was also used as the reason that Kate and Marlena didn't recognize Austin and Billie or make the connection that they were Kate's dead children.

Then again the Days writers have always pulled so many changes in their own stories it is hard to keep track.  They also did this when they bought Laura Horton back and made Kate and she rivals, when in the original story I don't even think that Laura and Kate interacted.

Watching Thursday again because I can't sleep, there was a lot happening, and I saw it on the choppy NBC player (no commercials vs 20 min of commercials on Hulu.  Opting for the Hulu.) Sami is amazing, she's even playing Hope! "Well, it's time to make your appearance, Hope" when she opens the door for her parents. And Hope and Rafe know it's a set up.  I'm stunned by the interesting writing.  I didn't expect the discovery of all of the evidence.  Well worth watching a second time.

Horrified if that's a KdP song.  It would mean we're in for much more.  I LOVE how Paige keeps moving KdP's hands off her.  Do you notice how she always needs to grope the girl or wring her hands or hold a drink, or hands, hands, hands?  Does anybody watch PBS cooking shows?  Her voice is sing-song like the Jazzy Vegetarian, they could be sisters. Eve may be legally in the right but Jenn is correct that all she did was have one conversation with a lawyer. Good thing, because she got served on her son's graduation day.  Of course she's not going to go out to eat with you, Eve, and screw you for making your daughter's face that unhappy and being sure she won't spend any time with JJ afterward and ruin both those kids' day.  You're right, Paige, it was not fair to find out in front of JJ.  And to make her think Theresa was involved with JJ "in every sense of the word" is cruel, and telling her not to trust her instincts.

Maggie is intolerable.  Did the writers realise they needed to show Vic restate his love because they know she is insufferable?  I had to LOL when Eve called Maggie "Peggy".  That's what it sounded like to me.

Shut up Mar but I'd rather see you with Roman than Jawn.  I actually understood Roman today.

The conversation between Jennifer and Abigail was sort of annoying to watch.

Just as people have argued that Abigail never put a gun to EJ's head to sleep with her, the argument goes the other way too -- EJ never put a gun to Abigail's head to sleep with him either. Therefore, her babbling about how they hurt people and feel nothing struck me as ...well, there is some truth...but she participated in what happened and also has attempted to hurt people and feels nothing about other people she could potentially hurt in the process (not just in the Sami situation, but also in the Carrie situation too). What she was saying wasn't necessarily wrong in the sense of assessing the Dimera character, but she acted like EJ did something to HER, which is why her comments rubbed me the wrong way -- she wasn't speaking in generalities, which is where those kind of comments might make sense,  but in that tone of voice that indicated she thought  EJ had made her risk her reputation or something and that he had personally done something to HER. The worst he did to her was apparently give her excellent sex that she can't stop thinking of.

I didn't blame Jennife what she was saying since she has no idea what's going on.

Daniel seemed a bit irritated with Abigail, which was kind of funny. He looked nice in his shirt, I guess, but he still needs to do something about the hair.

I wasn't sure what to make of Abigail's hair. It was sort of Mrs. Garret-ish.

Jennifer looks better with Nu-Ben than with Daniel.

Thanks, JBC344. I got curious enough to try to find the Kate/Billie scene I mentioned on YouTube, and it was there (the whole Who Killed Curtis? story is, actually). Curtis did tell Kate that their kids died in an accident, and Kate told Billie that, which I forgot. Billie then replied that Curtis was a liar, Kate knew he was a liar, and so how could she have just taken his word for it? Kate admitted that she should not have, and that she did because it was easier for her to think they were really dead than to think about what might be happening to them. That's when Billie informed her that Austin was being beaten every night and she was being raped.

I said this pretty regularly over at TWOP, but I loathe the way women are written on this show.  Especially since this is a soap opera aimed at appealing to women.  Why have all the female characters either be trampy, scheming back-stabbers who lecture or self-righteous blowhards who lecture?  There's so much lecturing  going on it's INSANE.  The show has very, very little actually happening on a day-to-day basis and still the writers have the characters spend 80% of their time rehashing the nothing that's going on in judgemental conversations.  I remember when soaps used to have characters actually walk away from conversations and move on to other parts of their lives.  Here...it's a never-ending cycle.  No one ever lets anything go, and all the characters cross the lines of decency on a daily basis to stick their noses into each other's lives.  It's completely unrealistic, even for a soap!

Moreover, I CAN. NOT. BELIEVE. this show is still focusing main plotlines around characters who lie and then get caught on video or in pictures, only to have said pictures turn up eventually.  Hasn't every single story for the last two years played out that way?  Kristen and Brady Part 1, Kristen and Brady Part 2, Abby and EJ...

It's same plot over and over and over.  Beyond annoying.

Whoever here said it's bizarre that the Abby/EJ fling is what breaks up Sami and EJ after years of raping and shooting each other...yup.  I hear you!

I wish that when Maggie left Victor after the Kristen/Brady wedding that it would be permanent. Victor doesn't need Meddling Maggie to make him interesting. Victor is interesting all on his own. I guess since Victor is barely around when Maggie is out and about in Salem and being all judgmental he really has no complaints cause he's not around her 24/7.

If TIIC wanted me to believe Sami/EJ as a couple, they should have done something different this time around than have EJ once again lie to Sami, and ruin her life.  It's been eight years of the same thing.  I would rather watch Sami destroy EJ.  It's more fun.

That's my fear on T as well. I like him because he's not so serious and looks like he'll be fun to hang around but writers would put him in a story where they would completely ruin him. If they made T bisexual and had him take Sonny away from Will, I would love him even more.

Why are Jennifer and Abigail the town good girls? They're hypocritical, judgmental, and boring.

Why can't Kayla fill the good role instead of Jen?  She is infinitely more interesting and MBE is a better actor, IMO.  I guess the show just needs more Hortons.  So why not bring on another Horton woman with a daughter?  I haven't looked at their family tree in a long time, but there has to be more Hope cousins than Jen and Julie.

As for Abby, I'd take Melanie over her and I can't stand Melanie.

I think Jennifer has hypocritical tendencies (as does everyone on the show),  but essentially I think she's decent. The annoyance I have with her is that worried look she always has on her face. She looks like she needs some Prozac.

I think Abigail is on another level of hypocrisy and unlikability. I can't tell if the writers are deliberately making her as annoying as possible in order to pave the way for Melanie who I assume will be more of the heroine when she comes back. Maybe Abigail will be a kind of foil? I can't tell what they're trying to do with Abigail.

I remember getting annoyed at Sami when she was younger, but in the end I found her entertaining. I'd get mad at her but I was entertained. With Abigail, I just get mad at her a lot.
