So Judgy cut her trip short for Sonny when she has barely interacted with him, and didn't treat him like family until he got his ornament? Okay.

LOL at Father Eeyore thanking Dark Roast for saving Sonny. The Dan propping never ends.

The best thing about this episode was the Sonny mentions.

Paige continues to be pathetic.She is definitely top of my list for characters I want to be written out.

Corday's point, although it's badly expressed, is that getting so far ahead in the taping schedule is simply a natural result of what happens when they shoot 7-8 episodes a week instead of 5. It's not that they're specifically shooting to be X months ahead. They do do periodic shutdowns and that's what allows them to save a lot of money in their budget, because nothing saves money like having dark days or weeks (other shows have done similar things, on a smaller scale - for instance, I remember for a while AMC was dark on Fridays, so the cast was doing 5 episodes in four days each week). They're not always five or six months ahead - they'll have a shutdown that narrows the gap, but then they resume filming and the gap widens again. The shutdown is also the trade-off for the cast and crew, because yes, they have a heavier workload and longer work hours when the show is taping, but they also get to have a few weeks off here or there for them to rest, have fun, spend more time with their loved ones, and do other projects.  It's an interesting question in general: "Would you rather work 70-hour weeks and have a couple of weeks off periodically, or work 40-hour weeks nonstop?"

Could someone fill me in on this? I stopped watching before Nick went evil (I loved Nick, I loved the actor, and I hate hate hate that they turned him evil.) What on earth did Nick do to Will?

 

Nick fell in love with Gabi, and found out that she was pregnant by Will.  He wanted her all to himself, so when he overheard Will talking to Lucas about that it was Will who had shot EJ and Lucas took the blame and went to jail for him because he was just a kid (this was a rewrite from the original storyline), he blackmailed Will into giving up his rights to the baby before she was born.

 

Gabi and Nick were going to get married and were letting everybody think that Nick was the father, but Chad (who hated Gabi) overheard the conversation and announced at the wedding that Nick wasn't the father.  Will finally found some balls and stood up at the wedding and said that he was the father.  This caused a big rift between him and Sonny (they were dating at the time) and it took a lot of groveling on Will's part to get Sonny back.

 

Nick and Gabi eventually got married in a civil ceremony, but Nick was still pressuring Will to give up his paternal rights.  Nobody understood why Will was doing that.  But the guy who raped Nick in prison got out and came looking for him, and took Nick and Gabi (who was about ready to give birth) to Smith Island where he was holding them prisoner while he ranted at them and threatened to kill them.  Will and Sonny overheard the guy threatening Nick and Gabi and followed them to the island, and they tried to save Nick and Gabi, but Will got captured and tied up, and Sonny and Gabi escaped.  But Gabi went into labor and Sonny had to deliver Ari.  In the meantime, Will got out of his ropes and attacked the guy, and the guy shot Will.  Hope and the entire SPD showed up at that point and Hope shot and killed the guy, but Will was bleeding and had to be taken to the hospital in town.  Nick suddenly became a good guy and made sure the hospital put Will's name on Ari's birth certificate.

 

But he eventually relapsed into evil mode and was threatening Will again unless Gabi went to New York with and the baby.  She was freaking out and he grabbed her in the park, she escaped but he caught her at the edge of the river, and tried to rape her, so she picked up a rock and hit him and killed him.  Kate and Sami came along at that moment and the three of them rolled him into the river, but he came to at the last second and they knew he was still alive, but he got washed away in the current.

 

A few months later, Nick came back, pretending to have forgotten all of it, but he really hadn't.  Once again he was blackmailing everybody, about the attempted murder, so eventually Gabi shot and killed him and went to prison for it.

Meredith just seems crazy just from that video.  And why didn't she do anything about it besides making a video?  Because she's crazy and it isn't true.

My guess is they realized how bloody dull the Aiden and Hope story was going and decided to throw in this crap to try to perk up more interest.  Honestly, if someone kept looking at me the way she has been looking at him, I would know that something weird was going.  Would someone who murdered his wife really think it a good idea to get involved with a cop?  

 

The whole thing is moving at a snail's pace and they need to just do something already - be shocking, whatever.  I am kinda hoping she finds he chopped up the wife's body and now she herself is trapped in the house and the lights go out and there's a big storm with lightning and thunder and the cell phone doesn't get a signal and bla bla bla

 

Something, anything, really, will do.

 

Watching the actor playing Will is just painful - the guy can't muster up an authentic looking expression to save his life.  Can't watch any scenes with him -there has to be actors who would take over that role in an instant - there's tons of them unemployed and they will take pretty much anything.

I don't get why GW always seems so...tired?
 

I mean, I know AS's acting style isn't everybody's cup of tea and objectively I can see why it would get on people's nerves, but I think I prefer that sort of energetic acting style on a soap, no matter how melodramatic,  to the comatose kind that GW seems to have. Maybe in another medium, GW's acting style makes sense but on Days it doesn't seem to fit.

 

What was up with Abigail's face when Jennifer was questioning JJ? Abigail has no clue that he's sleeping with the 50 year old mother of his girlfriend, so I didn't get the face she was giving...I thought it was ridiculous that good-looking, physically fit  20 year old JJ was feeling alone and felt that his only option was a 50 year old momma-of-his-girlfriend, but anytime Abigail starts sporting that face, I start to feel some sympathy.

That was an excellent recap, but I just want to make one little adjustment. Nick didn't blackmail Will (the first time) because he wanted Gabi all to himself, he did it because he didn't think a gay man should have a child. At one point he got into a fist fight with Sonny after calling him a f*****. It was all result of his prison rape.

And if I have to choose between Melanie and Abigail as the show's younger leading lady, and I think I do- JL as Theresa is miles better than both in terms of talent, but I doubt the show will ever see Theresa as a "heroine"- then I'll take Melanie all day, every day.

(Unfortunately, DAYS will take that last statement literally, but it is what it is.)

 

I choose Melanie as well because I think that deep down at her core, past all of the babydoll cutie pie behavior, she's a good person.  For example, I truly believe that she's worried about Theresa and this Clint jackass and the mysterious Dr. Mandrake and I think she doesn't want to see Theresa hurt.  And then there's Abby who comes off as an inherently cold-blooded and selfish person.  I would wonder if she'd call 911 if she saw someone bleeding on a sidewalk while I have no doubt that Melanie would rush over and help.

 

Now onto Hope and Aiden--it feels like all of those taped conversations was Meredith's way of setting up her husband and I bet dollars to donuts that Bree helped and I think we all know that Meredith is alive.

At one point he got into a fistfight with Sonny after calling him a f*****.

Was that Nick or T? Because I remember T and Sonny having some kind of altercation along those lines as well. But of course T ended up coming around and being a huge Will/Sonny supporter in the end.

As the (fabulous) recap shows, they had multiple chances to redeem Nick after they made him a villain - a move which I never liked in the first place and still think was originally designed to prop stupid Melanie - but they always went back to evil with him, unfortunately.

I knew that since this show tapes so far ahead she darkened it. Jennifer's sense of style is bizarre and her hair is so fried and flat. She needs to cut several inches, deep condition it, and dye it a more forgiving shade. She looks like a clown right now.

This video and Aiden and friend story is such a ripoff of Gone Girl . Aiden didn't kill his wife, she's alive. Hope looked like she was wearing a Cosby sweater with some Zumba pants.

As much as fans of the Nick character hated it when the show so painstakingly destroyed him, it seems like everyone else in that storyline is nearly as badly off. Gabi's off the canvas, Nick's dead, Will's abominable, and even Sonny is really not acting like his old self. The whole Paul/Sonny/Will triangle is wretched.

Jennifer and Abigail have no boundaries.  JJ is an adult, and having those two loons talking about his sex life and trying to break into his phone was so uncomfortable to watch.  If anything it showed how completely uninteresting and superfluous they are.  If the new writers get rid of anyone (ETA: good, anyone good) and leave these two on the canvas, I may stage a revolt.

 

I'm really liking Hope and Aiden.  Daniel Cosgrove is my kind of actor, and I'm a sucker for mysteries and thrillers.

 

Eve needs to be 1,000 percent less pathetic.

What is with Melanie's bared shoulder look? Again this is the upper Midwest in February. It's snowing here, and cold.

 

The mystery at Aiden's cabin would work so much better if it was happening at night with limited lighting.

 

Also, for a woman who was planning on only spending a day in the Pacific Northwest before heading to Tahiti, Hope has a nice assortment of cold weather clothing available.

I just finished catching up with a week and a half worths of episodes, and, well, there's just several things.......

 

Having us watch Melanie and Brady getting sexual is like stumblling across a porn tape of Ralph Wiggums and Dora the Explorer.  The ewwwwwwwwwwwwww factor is so very high.  But of course I'm thrilled, as must be the viewing public that Brady managed to give Melanie the best 30 seconds of her life.

 

I would like someone to hit Daniel on the head with Aiden's magic shovel over and over and over and over again.  And one more time.  And again after that.  I've sometimes thought that Dark Roast might not be as annoying if he wasn't matched up with Jenn but WRONG!!!  The good townsfolk hail his skinny flat ass as the SAVIOR of Salem no matter what.  His wrinkly sufer dood persona melded with his Marcus Welby stink just overwhelms with mediocrity.  STFU, Dan, and go back to picking the lint out of your navel.

 

Sparkle Pretty could stand to be taken down a notch.  I did think his scenes with Mom and Grandpa - especially Grandpa - were pretty good.  Mom, though, seems a bit like a pod person or a potato head brought to life.  But then when his MAGIC BLOOD BROUGHT LIFE TO SONNY, well, that was overkill.  And pretty constant overkill at that.

 

For everyone to say that it was the blood that saved Sonny, not the doctors, not the surgery, but that damned blood makes about as much sense as saying that it was the suture material, or the company that makes the lightbulbs who saved him.  Sonny didn't live because they dumped a glass of Sparkle's pretty blood on him.  Kayla did it.  I refuse to believe Dan had anything to do with anything, other than proving the need for disinfectants.

 

I'd also like Nicole to get ahold of the magic shovel and also boink Dan on the head with it, and then Eric.  And do it again.  Daniel has SOME NERVE demanding that Nicole pass some sort of purity clause to be with him, considering that he's banged his patients in the recovery room and then gone out and laid their relations in the waiting room.  The guy is a dog - literallly.  I know he'd love to be able to lick his own (fill in the blank).  We had to watch this doofus airhead gasbag go on and on and on about Jenn for the past 60 years or so, but he demands Nicole drop everything, including her memories and devote herself exclusively, body and soul, to him.  It's pathetic that Show is making us watch her do this, but it's worse for Show to insist this guy is worth it.  Not true.  

Let his devoted idiot of a mother worship him if she must, but don't try to make us do it too.

 

Sneasel......poor little Sneasel.......the guy should beg Show to put him in a coma.  It's the only thing that will make his acting palatable.  

I don't think Sonny is faking his memory loss.  If he was, he would have pretended to forget ever marrying the rodent.  He'd also pretend to forget every falling for Sparkle Ken in his Malibu Baseball Period.  

Sonny should be with a guy like Damon...

 

And that brings me to the WORST THING OF ALL!  It looks like Show offed Damon!!  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!  Show does best with their day players and I really liked what little we got to see of Damon.  Damn Show.  It kills Damon but lets Abigail continue to take in oxygen threw her gills.

 

JJ deserves a lot of credit for not having a psychotic break and murdering his sociopathic mother and sister and dressing their corpses up in the living room.  These two cross some serious incest boundaries with the guy on a regular basis.  I suspect Jenn folds his underwear for him but only when he has them on.  Wondering about his sex life, and not being embarrassed enough about it to keep to themselves is just nausea-inducing.  I shudder to think what they consider family bonding time to be.

 

I'm probably in a minority of one here, but I find Eve and JJ less appalling than most.  Not because I think it's a good relationship - at all - but because the people around them are so thoroughly pathetic and unpleasant.  There is so little joy anywhere in Salem.  At least JJ and Eve have gotten as inappropriate as they can get, whereas so many others still seem to have areas to explore that are even worse.  Whatever it is, those two bother me less than I expected lately.

I wasn't watching closely then, buffynut, so I'll let the scholars answer you fully. But there was a time when every one of Dan's patients then became his girlfriend. Chloe was married to Lucas when she fell ill (because of Kate poisoning her, maybe?) and was "treated" by Dan. Their marriage broke up, Chloe and Dan were together, then Carly came back and threatened Chloe's security in the relationship. Chloe slept with Philip, became pregnant with Parker, and there was a whole reveal at the baby's baptism - although paternity tests showed that Parker is Dan's progeny. I didn't do this justice, though, honestly : )

 

About Abigail. I hated her interrogation of JJ because she showed not one ounce of concern for him -- just curiosity. With a haughty smirk on her face the whole time. At least Jennifer's concerned, although if I had ever tried to look at my daughter's text messages (she's 25 now), I'm not sure I'd be able to live with myself afterwards. JJ deserves some privacy. Even if he's being a lunatic right now.

I'll take a shot at Daniel's sketchy sexual history, but I'm no expert, so I hope others can fill in more blanks and correct me if I get anything wrong- I didn't watch it too closely or blocked it out if I did.

The idea of Dan banging someone in the recovery room and then their relative in the waiting room is an exaggeration, but not much of one. It's true that he dated or at least slept with almost all his female patients at one point. His über-gross relationship with the barely-legal Chelsea ended after he slept with Kate, her grandma. I think both had been his patients. In soapland, sometimes people can forgive their boyfriend sleeping with their mom- but grandma sex? Nay, that is a step too far. Kate took one for the team with that move, and thank heavens she did.

Dan's first hookup with Chloe was especially porny and gross, because it actually took place during an examination, IIRC.

Re: Eve and JJ, I find it hard to watch because the actor who plays JJ (Casey?) is hard-selling the self-loathing so well. It really comes off like JJ's doing it because he hates himself that much, which has the net effect of making Eve look even more creepily predatory than she already does. Like, it's not just the age gap, it's that he's got true problems that she's playing on. Ugh.

Today's show sounds boring from the tweets, I don't know if I will even bother watching live later. So much for cliffhanger Fridays.

I don't have the patience for Hope and Aiden since I know he's going to end up being a good guy. I despise Fake Drama.

To be honest Nicole was the only character that was on today that I really like and Theresa (when she's not sleeping with Electroshock).

Dingy Hippy/Strawberry Shortcake/Dumbass Brady/Shrewena/Father Eeyore/Abifail/Grimace/NuChad/BOllie/My Cop Voice/Shark Teeth- it's like my least favorite characters have gathered in one episode.

I hope Dena and Josh are taking notes.

I guess Next week will be more exciting when Sonny remembers everything and confronts Will..I already know that Freddie will be sublime in his scenes....As a Wilson fan, it is going to be hard seeing them estranged and hateful to one another...I hope the new writers do better by them....

In a way, I'm glad that GW is playing Will now. It makes it so much easier to dislike the character. I always felt a little bad not liking CM's Will, because smirking aside, there was a certain charm to him, and a hint of vulnerability. I used to root for Will to get his act together so I could stop hating him, but now I just want to see him fall on his smug little face.
Keeping with recasts, I'm still pretending that Eve is an entirely new character, because the Eve Donovan I knew and loved wouldn't do this to her own daughter. However, I like what KDP has been doing with her lately, even if I don't know what the hell that is. She hasn't won me over as *the* Eve (though that's more to blame on the writing), but she's making this Eve interesting.

I enjoyed today too, but then I'm liking the Hope/Aiden mystery. Kristian Alfonso must have enjoyed work when these scenes were being taped.  For those who think Meredith is alive, didn't Aiden tell Hope he saw her kill herself.  Or am I mis-remembering.

 

I'm really truly starting to dislike every minute Daniel is on my screen.  Was he ever *nice* to Jennifer, or is he just always hateful to the women who love him.

 

And lastly, what is with the wardrobe people?  Everyone looks liked they are dressed for summer with the sleeveless tops.  And I don't even know what to say about that rag Melanie is wearing as a dress!

Why is Grimace so damn glammed up for work? So ridiculous the dresses she wears like she works in HR or PR or has a seat on the board. Jar Jar just couldn't wait to dish about Chad's family with the whole, “you didn't know”. Of course she didn't asshole otherwise she would have said it. Ugh to the double ugh.

 

WTF?? Adoption agency thinks Brady is able to adopt a girl, have they not heard he's in recovery, a junkie and an alcoholic. What the flying fuck?? Just ready to hand out children to anybody these days right? SMDH. That little girl is safe where she is now. If I'm suppose to feel sorry for Brady it just doesn't work.

 

Also WTF is up with Toothy's work schedule?? One minute she's at the hospital in scrubs, the next she's back at home in that ugly ass sweater dress. Just stupid and Days really need to learn how to edit.

 

How much you wanna bet that this isn't going to be the last time Eeyore talks about Nicole?

 

Nicole stop begging, it's not cute. I feel bad for her when she's treated like the town pariah on a daily basis but damn, girl needs to pick up her dignity.

 

I tell ya Days has the worst cliffhanger Fridays I've ever seen. It also comes up with the most convoluted reasons and plot ploys to push a story with Eric's gas or whatever being turned off or to the whole building or whatever. Yawn.

I can't remember the patient and everyone's related in Salem.

 

I think it all came to a screeching halt when Anthem Blue Cross started refusing to reimburse the hospital for Doctor Dan's post and pre-op sexual healing treatments.  

He then moved on to dispensing it at no cost to hospital employees.  Hence the horror known as Dannifer.  Dark Roast is living proof that charity begins at home.

 

And we wonder why medical costs keep going up.....

Daniel has a very self-righteous way of speaking. If he toned that down, especially with  the weird He-man expressions,  he probably wouldn't  be so bad. Maybe the older actors on this show are directed to sound that way. A lot of them have that weird hulking way of speaking to the women they consider to be beneath them (i.e Daniel, Brady, Eric, etc.). I was a little surprised at the tone Daniel took with Eve -- he doesn't know yet that she's sleeping with a 20 year old, so the tone he took there was a bit weird to me.

Why is Melanie wearing a sweater that is three times too large and yet still too short with a belt under her boobs?  And more importantly, how did I miss it yesterday?  Dun dun dun.  Gotta admit, though, I'm liking Melanie in sleuth mode, slowing acquiring bits of information and knowing something is off but not quite putting it all together yet.  I'd rather watch smart women than baby-talking women, thank you.

1)  Wouldn't it have been easier to stash the video of Meredith in your suitcase Fancy Face, and look at it after you left?  Of course we would then miss all the "drama"...

 

2)  I've been out of the workforce for 20 years, is it now acceptable to have your boobies half hanging out at your workplace...if you're not working in a bar, etc?  What was with the hooker top Jordan had on today?

 

3)  I always thought that Adrienne was in an older age group (aka Bo/Hope) than Lucas.  I am not seeing the attraction.

 

4)  There is ZERO chemistry between JJ and Eve...zero.
