Nico's 21-year-old younger brother died suddenly yesterday. Many articles online and he announced it on Twitter. No cause listed. Very sad news.

I hope they renew.  But the current cast has some issues.  Ben and the Captain are at odds with each other.  Someone, elsewhere, said that if Kate is convicted of a felony she might not be able to leave the U.S. (True, anyone?)  I don't think Lee would have Kelley back as a bosun. 

I'd like to see Amy back as head stew.  It would be interesting to see someone efficient AND nice in that position.

ETA:  oh, so juicy....Ben and Kate are now in a Twitter war.   I suppose if Luann and Carole can tear each other up on social media and then work together, so can Ben, Kate and Lee.  Although doing so in such tight quarters might make it much harder.  Yeah, on second thought, I don't think it can be done and I'm not sure I'd wanna watch it.

I suspect that there's no reunion because of Kate's trial. She waived her right to a speedy trial. It was scheduled for early November, but I can imagine it being pushed back. Unfortunately about half of the reunion topics involve Kate:

• Her relationship with Ro, which she won't speak about because of the trial
• Ben and Kate's working relationship
• Bemily and how Kate thought Ben was distracting Emily
• The deckhands weird anger towards Kate
• Emily and how all of the guys wanted her
• Trevor the hair model
• The many loves of Kyle
• Kelley the bosun
• Sierra
• The pool and the deckhands many fuckups

Kate's not Teresa, but I don't know that you can have a decent reunion without her.

Ben and the Captain's feud seems to be over.  Captain Lee said the person he sees the most is Kelley.  They work out together.

Kate seems to be friendly towards Ben and Emily, and I believe Ben's brother, the one we saw on the show, represents several of the cast members including Kate.

I think they will all suck it up for the big fat six figure check that comes with the show.  Captain Lee, Ben and now Emily seems to make a fair amount of money doing personal appearances, and also seem to support each other.  The death  knell is usually when they become competitive with one another of appearances.

I read somewhere that Kyle got rubbish bin girl pregnant again. If they didn't need to subtitle him, I would be champing at the bit to have him join Vanderpump Rules. He super impulsive and holds grudges. He would be absolutely perfect to start working at SUR. And despite being located on West Hollywood, the closest the show has gotten to a queer castmember is Schwartz making out with everyone, the girls making out at Scheana's slumber party last season, Kristen going down on Brittany while drunk, and Jax being a kept man in Miami.

Thanks for the links!  When I was reading the first paragraph about Kate, I was like NO WAY did Barbie beat up Xena Warrior Princess!!! Then I read the statement by her attorney so it made sense. 

Sad to hear about Nico's brother.  I lost one of my brothers years ago and it truly sucks.

There has to be something to Xena Warrior's story or the state would not go forward.  Size alone does not determine a combatant's successfulness is a battle.  It definitely puts a different light on the Captain's claim-she looks more like a guest.  maybe it is a foreshadowing of "WWE Raw", as future charter guests.

Love the Watch What Crappens podcast, and loved this interview. To clarify, I think Kate's been basically retired from non-show yachting for just the past year or so; sounded like she's burned out on it and is probably on her fairly mediocre hustle to get other things going like her book. But she's legit worked in the industry for several years before the show, and likely on the hiatuses for the first couple seasons she appeared in.

What I found interesting about that interview was how much they went in on Ben, and deservedly so imo. Basically that it took them a while to come to the conclusion that he's a lousy friend, selfish and manipulative. Apparently there was some conflict between Ben and Kelley that was left on the cutting room floor.

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling we won't see Ben, Kate, and Kelley in the next season. I have a spidey sense that Ben will be back, because he really has his greasy paws in this franchise, and Emily. There has to be some strategy behind making Bemily (ick) such a thing.

ETA: The Ben anecdote that was the most interesting/infuriating was that during that finale conversation where he was an asshole to Kate for no real reason, he also took it upon himself to chug the rest of the pricey champagne she'd purchased herself for the whole group, intentionally so.

Ben has always been obnoxious, but I think that when they used him to launch the Below Deck: Mediterranean spin off it went completely to his head. He's the only cast member who has been on every season plus BD: Med. The producers have finally started revealing bits of his background and we've learned that he comes from a monied background, but he's chosen to make his own way and is some sort of proletariat hero because he's a chef.

Ben talked about his posh background in previous seasons, noted that his father was a writer, said he'd known Prince William growing up, & humble-bragged about making his own way - all fine & good but very odd that Ben chose to be a chef (i.e., servant!) IMO with those types of acquaintances.  Social "class" is still very important in UK; I remember stories that Prince William's "set" cruelly mocked his choice of Kate Middleton because of her middle-class family. Though he's shown some wit, I've never found Ben's rodent looks appealing, & wonder if Emily's "attraction" is sincere.

Ben is in the same boat as the "middle class" Middletons in that his dad is a self made man and not from the upper British class. He talked about it when Jules thought he was talking down to her.

I really liked the Crappens podcast with Kelley & Kate. Kelley came off much better and the two could talk without it turning into a reunion shouting match, although I still don't get why we didn't have one this season. Both Kelley & Kate sounded flummoxed why certain scenes weren't shown - it sounded like they had a lot of fun and set up some decent parties that didn't make the final cut. (It makes me wonder if Bravo stuck their third tier production crew on this season. I think BD has the most potential not to go stale - the cast members are required to actually work together, they're all stuck in the same location, no one can use a flimsy excuse not to film and a new group comes in every week to play against. I hope next season production shows more and gets involved less.)

Both Kelley & Kate seemed on the same page regarding Ben. It wasn't just one occasion or fight - it's that Ben takes care of Ben and if someone else is helped or happy along the way it's mere coincidence. Kate sounded the most frustrated and I think she outed Ben for bringing several different girls to stay whenever he visited her, not just Emily.  

Also, Captain Lee's favorite workout is arms.

The article linked said a smaller cast. But yeah that site has jumped to conclusions before. It makes no sense to me to lower the number of cast member leads/regulars. I wouldn't mind if Amy came back. Also instead of Dean showing up like always maybe another Bravo crossover.

Regarding Dean, according to a blind item he might be going to jail, he bankrupted Captain Lee, and used Kate's body to entice investors.

 

It is not very often that what happens behind a reality show is way more interesting than what happens actually on the show, but such is the case with this cable reality show that has rotated in new casts and locations almost every season. Way back in season 1 of the show, the public was introduced to someone who entered the life of the cast for an episode. Just one episode, but he had a part in multiple lives forever. In that first season he sunk his claws into one of the cast who we have grown to see on the show season after season. What happened? Well, this star, who we shall call C struck up a friendship with the one episode wonder who we can call S. The next thing you know, C invested his entire life’s savings with S. Not a good idea. It vanished so quickly that C probably thought even the bankruptcy he had to file because of it was a dream. There is only so long you can continue signing people up for something that sounds too good to be true. So, what do you do if you are S and want more people hooked on your bait? You introduce them to someone we will call CS who has been a star on the show for multiple seasons. Prior to coming on the show, the star made a great deal of money acting as a companion to those she met on her day job. As a companion, she made five times her day job salary. It also helped that she was willing to service both men and women. As long as the money was green, she didn’t care who was sharing her bed. CS met S through C. When not filming, CS was given money by S to sleep with people S was trying to get to invest with him. She slept with dozens of potential investors but only a couple signed up. S kept her around though on the payroll because she did have certain talents he enjoyed too. At some point, there were just too many investors complaining and now S is probably headed to jail. CS might not be far behind him. She has had trouble with the law because of her substance abuse issues which lead to her get extremely violent as a lover discovered.

Mmmmmmmm must have been another  side to the story different than what Ro gave. IIRC Kate said her neighbor had video of Ro attacking Kate. We never heard íf Kate also had injuries.
