Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl

Hmmm...if they're pushing aside Kristen as a spokesperson and inking up deals with Bethenny, that could make for some very interesting dynamics to start the season off with.

That would be great, Kristen with her usual complaining but she is in no way a match for Bethenny so my guess is that her hubby comes to the rescue to fight her battles. Now that would be great, that douche against Bethenny would definitely be worth it.

This is one of the things I hated most about Bethenny on this show. She turned it into one big infomercial. I don't watch TV to listen to an hour of skinny crap, toaster ovens or ugly jewelry. The NY franchise is the worst offender IMO and I'm not looking forward to any of it again.

Oh thanks for the chuckle.  Dickhead coming to the rescue for his wife????  Never gonna happen.  Just like he did when she was upset with Heather at the mud race & he just kept saying to her (in his usual dickhead way) to "man up."  Who in the fuckety fuck would EVER say that to his wife?  Well, um, a dickhead like Joshie poo.  And btw, B luvs assholes so I could see her totally luving Joshie.

Kristen could hold herself just fine against B.  If she did OK with the Moaner, she can handle skeery-skinny Bethenny.

C'mon B, don't fuckin' shut this down like ya did the divorce proceedings.  I want a great showdown in court!!!

Give us some Bethenny dirt, loser Jason.

Any guesses on how B gets that skeery skinny body?  Only eating crumbs -- and then puking up every crumb ingested?  And maybe downing those crumbs with some kinda Skinnygirl shitty mixed drink.  Sheesh, that crap looks like it'd make anyone puke.

Again, I think Radar Online is just making this shit up. Jason wouldn't need to take Bethenny to court. He would just need to refuse to consent. No court battle is necessary for this. Plus, this. Not that E Online is a bastion of journalistic integrity, but I believe them before I believe Radar.

Ugh. They haven't learned their lesson.

When a cast member refuses to film their personal lives, then it won't be a good show. I want to see the interaction they have with their husbands, children, real friends and other family members. It fleshes them out as people. I thought Bravo was getting it right with Shannon from the OC but they're missing the key ingredient. The actual real lives of these women.

If all Bethenny is going to do is hawk her products and participate in fake lunches it's not going to be interesting.

I'm actually OK with Bryn not being filmed. I am actually uncomfortable with young kids being on these shows. Teenagers can have more say in when they are filmed and how much of themselves they want to show on camera. But, the younger kids have no say. It's why I don't blame Simon for refusing to let his younger children film with Tamra on OC. I keep looking at the way the Guidice children are being exploited and I'd hate to see the same thing happen with Bryn. Plus, Bryn will be starting school soon, and she should have a chance to just be a kid for as long as she can. Between being born on camera and having her parents divorce play out so publicly, she is going to have enough going on in her young life without the stress of reality show cameras in her face.

I agree.  It may seem harmless.  Certainly Avery wasn't bothered.  But that girl seemed 45 when she was 10.  Ah well, guess having to deal with the Moaner every day will make a kid grow up quick.  So don't go by her experience.  The thing is, most reality show producers (and that sure as fuck includes Satan Andy) don't give a rat's ass if they humiliate and/or embarrass anyone involved -- and yeah, that would include kids too.

Still think Alex & Simon made a poor choice to include their children on the show, even when they saw how they were being mocked by the producers.  OK, it was more their treatment of the kids that was being mocked, but still, the producers took a few moments when the kids were acting up (which was merely typical of kids that age), and froze it on film forever, for the sole purpose of entertainment, without giving a fuck that it was supremely embarrassing to the kids.  Alex's & Simon's kids came off like misbehaved little monsters when they probably weren't in the least.  Maybe it's not life-shattering stuff, but still, it's embarrassing shit which will follow them around for the rest of their lives -- and they had no choice in participating in the show.  It was merely the poor choice of their fame-seeking foolish parents.  And B would absolutely make the same poor choices.

I'm fine with Jason forcing B to not include her kid,  As mentioned earlier, she woulda only been using the kid to soften her hard edge.  Now, will she be mentioning Skinnygirl ever 2 seconds?  Maybe not.  The producers may not allow it.  If she tries it, they could edit it out.  Look at Heather this past season.  In her first season, I don't think one second of her camera time went by where she didn't mention her shit (sorry, I hate that name & refuse to mention it).  This season, almost no mention at all from her.  Er, huh???  Was it cut out or did Satan Andy order her to STFU bout it?

It would just be healthier for Bryn if she was able to grow up without being recognized every where she goes, which means keeping her off tv.

I remember how Tom and Katie pimped poor Suri out.  Posed her in front of the papps at all hours of the day and night.  She'd cringe and cry and look so uncomfortable when the papps would swarm and the flashes would be going off in her face.  I'm not comparing Bryn's experience to Suri's - just making a comment that it's certainly possible to not expose your child to the public like that.  But you have to start by not putting them on a trashy reality show.

There are so many A list actors whose children we wouldn't recognize if we passed them on the street.  It can be done.  I'm okay with not seeing Bryn.

I don't remember anything about Kristen and Bella. What was she trying to market? Which episode? I'm surprised her brilliant branding expert husband didn't wrap that deal up with a nice little bow.

She always had a couple of their appliances on her kitchen counter during the series but I don't think they were ever actually mentioned by name (they're pretty distinctive looking).

Then *bammo* Kristen is on their website or her own website giving testimonials about how wonderful their appliances are.

Yeah, the Daily Mail seems to have pics of B & her kid every day for some type of uninteresting non-story.  Here's her oafish brutish-looking boyfriend.  He looks like trouble.  Maybe it's just me, but I'd keep him far away from my kids, but that's our B, continuing to make poor choices.

Poor dear with her looks and personality she'll take whatever she can get.

I don't really feel sorry for her with her "raised by wolves" mantra. No one get through life unscathed. It's not an excuse or badge of honor just a fact. Try crowing about her poor upbringing by neglectful parents to the victim of incest or kid living in a meth lab with skin head parents.

B was just on The View & I thought she looked pretty good -- surprising to me cuz in pics lately she looks so gaunt. Here she is (at about 31:15)-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDWCrfiJePo

Ugh.  And suddenly I remember why I can't stand her.  Her rat-a-tat-tat voice and delivery gets on my every last nerve.  Imo, that is why her talk show tanked.  She doesn't know when to shut up or how to modulate her speech.  She and Heather are going to have a time

The lollipop head picture from the other day I believed was merely a bad angle because I thought she looked great at the Angel's Ball just 2 days before.

That doesn't answer to the question of WHY she would post such an unflattering, scary-skinny-angled picture of herself, though.

I feel exactly the opposite.  I have zero issues with the very young ones (I'm talking under 7 or so).  Even the most horrific kids are cut some slack for the things they say and do, and their peers are not old enough to hassle them about things. The teenagers are a whole different story. They are hormonal, testy, and lots of times just in a bad mood. They say things they shouldn't, don't know the limits of good taste, and don't have the maturity to check themselves. Gia on the NJ show just got so use to having cameras around that she wasn't bothered when a camera crew followed her around shopping for her first bra or her father talked with her about sex. I am sure that she heard about this at school the next day from the other tweens. I am also sure she heard all about her mother begging her father to "do her" in the vineyard. The teenagers just have it so much harder at school than the little ones do. I don't think that any of the teenagers should be filmed for their own sake (most of their parents are too dumb and lured by being famewhores to notice). And then there is the fact that I am not a big fan of teenagers in general.

I've actually said the same thing. Teens make for great TV but its probably universally a bad idea for them to participate. The OC teens were there at the beginning and I loved watching but when Tammy pulled her girls she got a standing ovation from me.

eta, I also wanted to add that young kids living out their family's dysfunction like Bryn with Bethenny's divorce and questionable choice in boyfriend isn't a good idea either.  I like seeing Kyle's kids and see no harm there. Its tricky.

And teens have absolutely no understanding how their idiotic behavior on reality shows could follow them in an extremely negative way for the rest of their lives. For people in their 20's who act recklessly on Twitter & in general on the internet -- well, that's on them. If they've ruined their lives or branded themselves forever in a ridiculous way, that's their own responsibility. But parents are responsible for underage teens and should help them from making such mistakes. Teens on reality shows can be a risky thing -- especially if you've got problem teens.

I've said before Avery was fine being on show. But she's extremely unusual. That girl was like an old soul at 12. But what about Victoria? She just seemed so dour & depressed & always looked so scraggly -- like she hadn't showered in months. Was it really her choice to be on the show? It looked to me like she totally didn't wanna be there. And man, those scenes with her & Lu looked so forced, didn't they? Noel seemed like a nice kid. Maybe too nice for the show. I suspect Satan Andy wasn't interested in Noel cuz he wasn't a snotty mixed up kid.

Bottom line, I don't think it's gonna make much difference that B can't show the kid. Sonja has never been able to show her daughter & she's gotten by on the show just fine.

I don't like Bethenny yet I feel that Nicholle and Rosie were unprofessional because they did not do any homework about who Bethenny is and what she is about. Just for any guest I thought it was rude. It made me irritated because I felt a little sympathetic towards Bethenny.

I'm not exactly crazy for B either, but I noticed too she was treated quite badly on The View.  Actually, Nicole was sorta nice to her.  But Rosie was really rude as fuck to her.  Her eyes were wandering elsewhere, she looked like she didn't give a fuck what Beth was saying & she was generally checked out.  Honestly, I hate Rosie's guts & I woulda luved for B to say to her, "Bitch, I'm here, listen up, will ya?"  But B looked really really nervous & she was talking so super fast.  I bet she was skeered shittless of Rosie.  Anyhoo, The Daily News today says Rosie hates reality show stars, so we got the answer why B was treated so shitty & only given about 3 minutes.

I'm on the flip side, I don't think she was treated badly on the View. She was asked all of 2 questions yet rambled on endlessly. Just like her talk show, not giving anyone else the chance to speak. My eyes would be wandering too waiting to see if I'd get a turn.

This is a fair point. I guess the reason teens don't bother me on the show is because they are old enough to simply avoid the cameras if they don't want to be filmed. They can recognize a set up and simply walk away. But you do make a good point that they are not mature enough to know when they are making a bad choice. That is when the parents, again have to be willing to put their kids' needs above their own desire to be famous.

I do not agree about very young children though. While their peers may not tease them - which is not why I feel uncomfortable with them being shown, they have absolutely NO say whatsoever in what is shown about their lives. 7 years from now do you think that Bryn is going to like knowing that her parents were such famewhores that they were fine with television cameras filming them in the shower the night they were born? Or, looking at Alex and Simon's kids, one of them had people speculating whether or not he was on the Autism scale simply because he was checked out and uninterested in being filmed for his birthday. To me it's just an awkward and uncomfortable situation that they have no control over.

Tamra and Simon's kids will forever be haunted by the fact that their mom basically filmed a soft core porn scene on television, and that their mom sued their dad to continue to exploit them on the show. It's just bad juju to me.

In the case of teens, I like the way that Kyle handles it. Her daughters either decide they want to be on camera that day or they avoid it. Lisa V said early on that her son was not comfortable on camera and didn't want to be filmed, and that was OK - sure, there was speculation that Lisa was some how ashamed of him or loved her daughter more because she was on camera, but in actuality Lisa was willing to take that hit to accommodate her son's wishes.

So, it's a slippery slope as far as kids are concerned in general.

Why were they obsessed with their sons being "French" -having French names and speaking French? Alex is American and Simon is Australian. Is this another of their stupid pretensions and fakery? Something cherry picked because it seems sophisticated and their sons will pass as it when they are older?

I can't speak to both sons' names, but one of them is named after Simon's dad. I assume the other was just so that both names would sound European.

All good points and I'd like to add that, while I love me some snark as much as anyone, I'm adamantly against commenting about kids for this very reason.

These are kids. Good, bad or indifferent and should be cut some major slack. The young ones--like Alex and Simon's when they were filmed--clearly had no input about being filmed, may well have hated it and acted out as kids will do. Not unreasonable, in my view. The older ones, the teens, can likely, as mentioned, simply walk away but may face crap about it from the various parents if they do. They may impact mom and dad's paychecks if they do, damage some potential storyline and that kind of thing so may--in fact--not have as much free will as it may seem. Plus, teens are teens--they're (as mentioned) hormonal, excitable, not always as rational as we hope and, frankly, still kids.

I, for one, choose to leave them alone while thinking their parents are assholes for dragging them into something which they may well have to deal with ten years down the road and through no choice of their own.

I'm excited for Bethenny to come back, I think she'll be a breath of fresh air. Remember when she called Luann a snake? We can only pray for another moment like that.

OMG, I loved that scene. Luann was such a snob, always making digs about everybody but with her darling this and darling that, Luann was so bent to make herself as the epitome of class and manners that she became a caricature of herself. She was trying so hard to keep the appereance of this "so much better than you" person that she came accross as fake IMO.

Bethenny had Luann on her talk show and she told Luann about how much she liked her when she was her real person instead of this pompous snob. IMO Luann had to eat a huge humble pie and now she looks much more relaxed without the pretenciousness , she can still be classy and chic without the snobbery part.

I am looking forward to that dynamic between Luann and Bethenny, the real ones, I am sure they know how to have fun when they lett their guards down.

Kind of curious why people are assuming that Bethenny's going to immediately be at loggerheads with the cast, notably Carole. Granted, I haven't watched Bethenny Ever After or her talk show, so my memory of her is strictly from when she was on RHONYC. I don't remember her aggressively going after people at all, so don't see her doing it when she comes back. I think her MO has been to just ignore someone or distance herself when she's done with them - like, I don't wish ill for you, I just don't want you in my life. In the case of Kelly, other posters have noted that Kelly pushed Bethenny with her little digs (you're not a chef, you've gone after my daughters in the press, I don't sleep around like Bethenny the hobag) until finally she snapped.

I think Bethenny's definitely been snarky when people have put on airs, hence the "Madonna" comment, or her initial comments about Alex and Simon. But there's a difference between her Greek-chorus talking heads vs. aggressively gunning for someone.

I think the shows have changed since Bethenny was on.  Production creates scenarios where confrontation is encouraged it seems.  I don't see Bethenny coming out gunning either.  And the rumor mill hasn't had any hints of her getting into it with anyone yet.

This sounds about right. The link says that so far Bethenny's been shilling her Skinnygirl products at every opportunity and hasn't engaged in any fights, much to the producers' chagrin. They say there's been some "simmering tension" with Kristen but no full-blown brawls. And Bethenny has been offering advice to Lu.

After all the predictions of who she'd lock horns with, I guess it doesn't surprise me that much that she's trying to rehab her image and has yet to really go to blows with anyone. It'll be interesting to see if there's another Hail Mary leg/wineglass throw. Again, I ask, why didn't they throw in a completely new HW to the mix? Especially since no one wanted to deal with Aviva or Jill, a newbie would have at least brought the element of surprise.

But, this isn't really surprising is it? Bethenny never really instigated drama or started fights with anyone. She tended to react to the drama around her or to attacks others made on her. Her biggest thing was simply to comment on the crazy while trying to hustle her products. So, I don't know if it would really be that she is rehabbing her image - she may be trying to rehab her post Housewives image, but this is right in line with how she was as part of the original ensemble show.

Hah, that was actually the same conclusion I had, so I actually agree with you. I was referring to the fact that lots of people on here were speculating "Oh, Bethenny is going to lock horns with Heather/Kristen/Carole," and based that gossip item, turns out that in fact, she is not really getting into dramatic fights with any of the other women. As far as rehabbing her image, yeah, that's what I thought the article was referring to-- not her appearance on this show, but just all the drama surrounding her bitter divorce from Jason.

That's such BS. I can't believe Bravo is okay with this. Either allow your real life to be filmed or stay off the show. Who wants to watch Skinny Girl infomercials every week? Then they wonder why ratings are so bad.

“There’s some talk that Mac likes the attention and she’s worried to create a monster out of him if he gets famous,” explained the gossip.

and

“He has so much money, he dates so many girls (before their relationship), and the one thing he gets with her that he didn’t get before is exposure,” said the source. “He’d joke around that he’s so annoyed that such-and-such a magazine published photos of them on the beach or whatever, but then at the same time he loved it.”

What a winner. Beth's hit the lotto with that guy. Poor Brynn. I'm sure the first of many questionable Step Daddies.

*could have bad Step Mommies too but no reports of Jason's lovelife available. I'm sure if he was with someone horrible Beth's team would leak it*

I don't know if I'd call it "fact", considering the source. Also, they haven't finished filming. I still anticipate friction between Beth and Holla.

I wonder if the problem between she and Kristen is because Beth is now partnered up with 'Bella Housewares' when it looked as if Kristen was hoping for that for herself.  As far as Beth mixing it up with Carole?  I can't see Beth mustering up any interest in her one way or the other.

At this point Bethenny has far more in common with Lu, Sonja and Ramona given they are all divorced and raising a daughter.  Ramona and Bethenny are both currently very bitterly estranged from their (soon to be) ex/daughter's dad and there's no love lost between Lu and the Count or Sonja and Mr. Morgan.

Kristen- married with kids and stay at home mom.  Don't think they'll be close but get along ok.  I can see her sparring with Kristen's husband to defend her since he's an ass as a husband.

Heather- very happily married with kids though she's also a business woman, fairly quick witted and they may bond over that.

Carole- Single, no kids.  I think that they will either get along very well or not well at all.  She's different and quirky but in a very different way than B is so I'm not sure.  She's very quick and intelligent and so is B but I'm not sure how it will go.

What were they expecting? And this is different from Bethenny's previous stint on RHoNY how? (And a HW shilling a product is different from other HWs and franchises how?)

Bethenny's always hustled. And I don't blame her - she knew she had a platform in which to do so and she went for it, whether trying to get shoppers in a CT supermarket to eat her "Bethenny Bakes" cookies or driving around the Hamptons in that absurd Skinnygirl car. She and Jill had a big dust-up over the Skinnygirl signage at Jill's fundraising event. Et cetera. Bethenny's ALWAYS had her eyes on the prize.

Yeah, Bethenny's got a sharp tongue and makes for good talking heads, but her inclination was always to comment on the drama and respond to it, rather than stir it up. I hope this doesn't mean that the show may decide to bring back Aviva for a guest spot.

I don't see dat happening.  Veevs was way too much trouble for the producers.  But Andy would NEVER admit it.  And I think that's why he won't have Jill back either.  Anyhoo, bringing either of those 2 back is really not the answer to anything.  Just as bringing B back was not the answer to the now shitty ratings.  If all she's gonna do is shill her shit and not bring anything else, this show is gonna fail miserably.  They needed some significant cast changes, but they refused to do it.

I don't think Beth cares whether it'll be the end of the show, if she just shills her shit & brings no drama.  She got her mil & the op to endlessly plug her crap, so she's good.  Andy was a fool to let her get away with this bullshit.

Not a fan of hers but I enjoyed this recent interview.  She talks a bit about what's going on with filming right now and how she's going to handle conflict.  Also she talks about the development of her business and what's coming down the pike. Why she's even doing TV anymore For Bethenny, she was actually kind of 'chill'.  It was a good interview.  She looks haggard, though.  I liked what she said about how she nurtures her business/babies.  Also makes mention that she's counseled someone on RHONY about biz this season. Wonder who that could be.  Carole or Sonja.  I can't see anyone else needing counseling regarding business.  Also some good self-reflection at the end.  Is she being authenic?  Time will tell.  What do you think about what she says about the way men vs. women feel after a split?

She's got another 'big' book coming out that she finished last week and will be on shelves in March.  She's also working on her second children's book.  Girl is busy.
