This web series is great! I'd love to see more of Babs and less of Jenelle. Babs is way more entertaining. We all know she is doing all the heavy lifting when it comes to actually being a parent for Jace anyway. This could attract a whole new audience for MTV, although I'm not sure they're actually aiming for an older demographic.

Hope they make more. Side note: we've seen Barb do more chores in these few snippets than all the Teen Moms combined since the show first aired.

I have to admit that I'm really disappointed with how Babs spoke about Farrah's sex work.  Especially since the most recent episode of the show Barbara was discussing how she stayed in a very unsavory situation in order to improve her finances and she didn't want Jenelle to have to live that way.  Barb should have a lot more sympathy for a mother who did something to improve finances for herself and her child.  

 

I personally have no issues with sex work and am a bit dumbfounded how much it's vilified, especially by the people on this show.  I think MTV does a piss poor job of highlighting how people can turn to sex work unwillingly for a variety of reasons but also that some do choose sex work for many reasons and there isn't anything wrong with that.  I thought of all people, Barbara would have been the one person involved in this show to be mature and not horrible with regards to Farrah's legitimate and legal way to earn an income as well as the fact that Farrah may have been initially coerced into it.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of how she talked about Farrah either - not because I endorse anything that Farrah does, but the "sucks to be you" and not having any remorse for being the person who (however inadvertently) started a false internet rumor about her having work done on her vagina - I'm not cool with her being ok with that.

This. Nobody forced Farrah into doing porn. She was not hurting for money or struggling to put food on the table for Sophia. Farrah likes the attention, plain and simple. Anything to keep her name out there in the media. Then not only did she do porn, she then tried to lie about it and pretend that it was this leaked personal sex tape with her "boyfriend" porn star James Deen. Please. We all know that she also loooooves money, and it's obvious she doesn't want to have to work hard to actually earn it, and instead will parlay her TM OG status into a paycheck for as long as she possibly can. That's half the reason her porn was as popular as it was...people wanted to see a TM "star" take it up the butt. No one cared about her acting ability, and no one believes it was some personal tape that accidentally got leaked. Just no. If she weren't part of the TM franchise nobody would have given her a second glance in porn. The sex industry is full of hot women, many who are a lot better looking and talented than fish-lips Farrah Abraham.

 

Also, anyone else find it gross that Farrah had taken Sophia (and Michael...eww) to Vivid's headquarters? Talk about skeevy. That's in no way an appropriate place to take a young child...but leave it to Farrah to keep on being disgusting and trashy.

I was a big defender of Farrah and her porn tape during the discussion of MTV removing her from the cast. I will continue to defend her on that point. I wish she would just admit she did it.

 

The idea that Farrah was forced, coerced, tricked, or unaware she was being filmed for a porn tape, is ridiculous. She did it, she knows she did it but, twisted the story, much like when she twisted the story about her DUI. Are we to believe that ridiculous story that she was just parked? Anything that comes out of Farrah's mouth is almost always questionable.

 

No, this was not a case of a young, single mother who was in dire straits. She was not close to having to apply for welfare. She was not homeless. She was not being abused. She has parents who do anything and everything for her. Her mother supplied her with rental home. Her father gives her free babysitting. She was the one who talked the talk about opening her own business. She was in school. She had more opportunities than a lot of teen moms. I cannot get behind the idea that Farrah was struggling in life or needed to do porn to better her life or finances. At my job, I see real females struggling to get their lives together after leaving abusive relationships and so few dollars in their wallet. I see real females struggling to get back on their feet after dealing with addiction. I have met quite a few females who lived out of their cars all the while working part-time and going to school to better themselves.

I don't get what good qualities everyone sees in Barbara (other than raising Jace, but I think he would be better off somewhere else). She yells at her daughter and calls her horrible, despicable names such as whore. She does this in front of Jace and she has no problem fighting with Jace's mom in front of him and saying awful things about Jenelle to him.

I know Jenelle is awful and deserves Barbara's wrath but the number one rule of parenting (or grandparenting?) is NOT to demonize either of the parents in front of or to the child, because the child is half that parent and will internalize it and have low self-esteem and anger and aggression as he grows up. Also Barbara does not seem interested in giving Jace a stable environment when she allows Jenelle to come and go bringing any low-life and drugs etc. around him AND when she provides a home full of verbal abuse and constant yelling and fighting. I'm pretty sure that Jenelle is the way she is because of Barbara, and sadly Jace is going to turn out the exact same way.

I think Barbara gets a free pass from viewers because Jenelle is so awful and she makes fun of her AND raises Jace, but in my book that does not make a good parent/guardian/grandparent. Yes it's good that she takes care of him and makes sure his basic needs are met but she is also providing a really crappy example and home environment for him. :(

I don't think Barbara gets a free pass at all. I think everyone who has ever posted here has conceded adoption likely would have been the best choice for Jace and that Barb isn't equipped to handle children in an ideal way. However, it's not Barb's fault Jace is in her care and it's not her that blocked him from getting a family that would have been better for him. She begged Jenelle to consider adoption or abortion. She couldn't put him up for adoption herself and if she could have I bet she would have.

Or maybe they give her too much money for the amount of time she is on the show so she needed to give them something and they did this instead of cutting her money. I also find it strange that nobody ever thinks that maybe Babs attachment to Jayce has to do with the mtv money that she gets. She seems to be in competition with her daughter for Jayces affection and time now which is not healthy for any of them.

This times 1,000. It does not sound like Jenelle had such a stable childhood and it has had a long lasting effect on her - that is obvious. And Babs was the one who raised her and spent the most time with Jenelle so to think that Jenelle has not learned some of her behavior from her mothers is ridiculous and unfair - I have stated on her before that I think Jenelle is wrong in a lot of her behavior but I also think she has moved mountains from who she was when this first started for her. (mtv show) For her to be off heroin is amazing - really. And the fact that she has gone to school is as well another thing that shows she has her head on straighter than she ever did. She makes bad choices in men but again her mother showed her that too - of this we can be sure.

The thing is, Barb pretty much had Jace dumped on her before there was any MTV money coming in for anyone. Yet instead of letting him end up in the system, she took responsibility of him when Jenelle refused to. She also held the same Walmart Deli job even her share of the MTV money rolled in, something Jenelle has yet to do even with her Medical Assisting degree. That doesn't scream to me someone who is in the game to rack in money by her association to her grandchild and daughter.

I'm not saying Barb is a perfect person or a great mother, but I don't see her as this terrible monster either. From what I remember from Jenelle's 16&P, Jenelle had a surprisingly comfortable life with little care or responsibility, despite being a soon to be teen mom with no job or prospects. I assume it was because Barb and her former boyfriend where footing the bill. Yes, Barb is a yeller and screamer, but if anything she spoiled and enabled Jenelle much more then most "terrible" mothers would've. So I can't give Jenelle a total pass for her behavior now as an adult; plenty of people come from worse and come out better then she has, without having the perks of a hard working parent providing or MTV money.

Yes. Barb has many faults but I never felt she was attached to Jace to spite Jenelle or due to MTV. It was Barb who BEGGED Jenelle to place Jace for adoption because it was obvious to everyone but Jenelle that she no interest in being a mother. She was the one getting up in the middle of the night to care for Jace during the 16&Pregnant episode while Jenelle was off doing god knows what (while still working her shifts Wal-Mart at over 50yrs old).  She gave Jenelle chance after chance even after she stole from her. Barb may now be trying to "make up" for the mistakes she made when Jenelle was young (there's nothing in the world more powerful than a mother's guilt), and wants to do a better job with Jace.
