Patience is based the French TV show (5 Seasons), Astrid et Raphaëlle, where an Autistic criminal records archivist Astrid Nielsen and an impulsive inspector Raphaëlle Coste work together to solve crimes in and around Paris. The first season of the French version can be seen on Prime Video under the title Astrid and 4 seasons can be viewed on PBS Masterpiece. It is not advised to watch the French version because the Patience remake uses the same plots. Patience Evans works in the criminal records department of Yorkshire Police, cataloguing and filing the evidence produced during major cases. A young autistic woman, she craves routine and order, relishing the solitude and structure her job provides but she yearns for more. A brilliant, self-taught criminologist, Patience has an instinctive eye for crime scenes and a passion for problem-solving, allowing her to spot connections between cases and patterns in the data that others may not. Detective Bea Metcalf is the first person to spot and utilize her talent, which opens a door into a whole new world for Patience. Patience attends a regular support group for autistic adults where they discuss their problems operating in a neuro-typical world and how best to navigate it. All neuro-divergent characters within the series are played by neuro-diverse actors, including the title role of Patience. Ava-Grace Cook as 11-year-old Patience Oona Van Harneveldt as 6-year-old Patience Adrian Rawlins as Douglas Gilmour, Patience's godfather, who has looks after her since her biological father passed away, they live together Mark Benton as Calvin Baxter, the boss at York Police, who delegates work to Bea, Patience and Jake. Eddie Elks as David Haynes, Bea Metcalf's ex-husband Laura Fraser as Detective Bea Metcalf, a driven and determined detective, who notices Patience's knack for criminology, recently divorced, she shares custody of her young son with her ex-husband Maxwell Whitelock as Alfie Metcalf-Haynes, Bea's son, who is having some difficulty getting along at school. Nathan Welsh as DS Jake Hunter, a detective for York Police, who works alongside Bea Metcalf, loves doing things by the book. AnimeMania May 15 Share May 15 Patience Season 2 (Channel 4 - UK) 8 episodes Jessica Hynes has joined the cast of the series about a young autistic archivist who works in the police criminal records department of City of York Police after establishing herself as an invaluable member of the team.
