[Question/Suggestion] How is it decided which shows are featured on main page?

The reason I ask is I've noticed some new shows, for example Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage is not on the main page, you have to choose the "see full list" option to find it.  On the other hand a show like Full Frontal with Samantha Bee is still on the main page although it's been off the air for a few years.   I'd like to suggest that current or forthcoming shows be featured on the main page automatically as I don't think everyone drills down past that point and it would be a shame to not have traffic for the shows that are still in production.  Cheers.

To my knowledge, the intent was to go by popularity, however, that means that number of posts override recent posts.

I agree, it would make more sense to use recent activity as a criteria rather than overall posts and traffic.

Hi, with the new season in the offing I am wondering if any further consideration has gone into this - I think having the current shows featured more prominently somehow would be helpful in building up traffic to this site.  With regard to old shows (i.e. Samantha Bee) that are no longer getting any posts perhaps vaulting or sunsetting them as a way to clear them off the home page?  Thanks!

Thanks for checking back in.

Yes, the issue has been raised with TPTB (so to speak). There are a few factors to consider that have to do with software, upgrades etc, so changes won't be immediate but we're discussing a couple of options with regards to what a change could look like and what would make the most sense.

I’m curious what y’all are talking about when you say “main page”?  The only way I see Samantha Bee’s show is if I toggle from “your shows” to “popular shows” then expand the “talk & news” category. Doesn’t seem very “main” to me but maybe I’m missing something.  Is this about what people who aren’t logged in see?

Yes, "main page" refers to "popular "shows".

Shows show up on the main page when they exceed a certain number of replied (I believe the number was 1,000). While new shows get added when they exceed the number, shows that go off the air and don't see further activity don't get removed as the software doesn't take the inactivity into account. When you scroll down to Talk & News, Full Frontal should be the second show in the top row.

FYI to Mods:

When I click on Primetimer and read the readble Competive Reality rectangle boxes this one isn't there.  It is only on the one with a thousand million rectangle boxes that is unreable to me.

Can this be put on the main one you see as well?  Otherwise more than half the people here will never see it.  I only saw it because a link was posted in either the live feeds BB thread by someone or the Survivor thread made for this show.  I forget which.

But I hate the idea of scrolling those threads to find this show every time and I don't read the zillion boxed Competitive Reality one, just the regular current one.  Only way I even saw Zillion Boxes one was by backtracking from this forum after I got here by aforementioned link.

Thanks in advance.

(Also why only one thread for a whole season for a new show?

There is a blue “Start Topic” box at the beginning of the thread. You can click it to…start a new topic if you want to make separate episode threads.

@Skooma Which forums are listed under popular shows (as opposed to the full list of the category) is determined by the number of posts. The minimum requirement is 1,000.

As mentioned above, changing that/adding a third category where shows are sorted by current traffic has been discussed. However, such a change isn't going to happen before the upcoming software upgrade.

For now, the quickest way to access the forum is probably via the search function. At the moment, it should also still be listed under recently added shows (shows remain there for two weeks).
There's also the option to follow it without notifications. That way, it should show up on your customized home page.

As @chitowngirl mentioned (thank you), feel free to start episode topics. A moderator can rename the current topic or move the posts to their respective episode topics, depending on what's needed.
