Speaking of indoctrination, has anyone else been watching Bama rush (University of Alabama sorority rush)  video this week? A few of them do a partial DCC Thunderstruck routine in their promo videos, and the values and extreme performance of Southern femininity (for lack of a better term) are pretty much one and the same. I highly recommend.😊

Is the Bama Rush doc worth $9.99?  Looks like the only place I can watch is Max so I'd have to pay for their monthly subscription.

And are the videos you're talking about just on TikTok, or is there a newer doc that's come out?

I’m talking about TikTok. Destinee Moreh does price breakdowns of their outfits.

The Max documentary wasn’t that good, I wouldn’t pay for it if you don’t already have Max.

Thx! I was just watching the video of the current team's first performance.  Pls remind me....did Caroline (Anna Kate's sister) retire due to an injury?

Caroline was a DCC 5 years and had both a hip and a foot injury when she retired.
I think she considered retiring at year 4 but stuck it out one more year despite her injuries.

Two other thoughts. One, I wish I'd been paid a nickel for every "yes ma'am" I heard. I know it's standard parlance in the south, but I'm used to hearing it from children to adults, not from a grown woman to a grown woman.

(snipped by me)

There was a part where the showed the DCC “bible” (that big binder that Kelli gives them at first meeting) and one page was talking about always saying yes ma’am. I also remember (in either this show or MTT) Judy was correcting Victoria (I’m almost positive it was her) and VK answered with just a yes. Judy corrected her to say yes ma’am. I rolled my eyes; it was so ridiculous.

Was just coming hlere to post this.  Did you guys see that guy run across the field near the beginning of the performance?  Who's point? Isn't she a 2nd year (at the most)? Was it the same as point at the Oxnard performance?  IIRC she was also "featured" in the episode where Sophy was "touched" by the photographer.

I was raised by a southern mother (who grew up in Mississippi). If I said yes or no without the "ma'am" I was rebuked! Even worse was if I answered her with "What?" That was considered disrespectful. I'm older now and live in Louisiana, and men everywhere including at work say yes or no ma'am to me all the time. I've told them it isn't necessary (makes me feel old) and they say it's hard to get it out of them it's so ingrained.

My mom was also from the South, but I could sometimes get away with yes. I could never answer yeah though, it had to be yes.

I went to the Christmas Extravaganza at the Star and Kleine was at the point of the triangle. They danced to Thunderstruck but the word thunderstruck was replaced with “deck the halls.” It was a phenomenal show. They did three dances with three different costumes. Charly walked around the perimeter with Drew Pearson who was the special guest, and Kelly walked the perimeter with Santa. It was so fun to see them up close!

Thanks for sharing.  The Christmas Extravaganza has turned into quite the tradition.  Glad you had a nice time.

I grabbed this off Reddit.  Was from a few days ago, so it might not be the most updated info.

Armani has moved to the "maybe retiring" column I guess.

Lea posted "last one, best one" which in the past has meant retirement but she may have been talking about the last home game of the season.

As for returners, Abby, Allison, and Karley have all said they are returning since this graph was last updated.

oof, we'll see as the episodes unfold, but seems like all the TK drama was real. So much for the "sisterhood", eh Tina? She's more bitter than VK! Talk about reliving your glory days through your kid . . . get a life Tina. Seriously.

EDIT TO ADD SPOILER:

Spoiler

Oh yeah. Some shit went DOWN with TK based on Kelly's comments when discussing Dayton and Shelley in episode 4.  She may have been talking about Dayton and Shelley but she was absolutely talking to TK (not even really VK).

What got me was TK saying "your rookie sisters didn't do their job".  What was their job, TK, to pander to VK?  Friendship and "sisterhood" go both ways.  If VK didn't keep in touch with her rookie sisters, then it wasn't on them to always check in with her.  They probably figured she was doing stuff without them during that year she took off from the team.

Not sure how to word this or where to put it.  Mods help? I haven't been here in FOREVER..

Did

  Reveal spoiler

Dayton Bramhall

audition again and make it to TC?

She did. She tried out in the current Netflix season that is airing, made it to training camp and was cut.  She tried out again this year(netflix is a year behind) and did not make it to training camp.  Honestly she really needs to move on.  She just does not have the style needed to be a dcc and honestly it seems like she did not put in the work to train like some of the other girls have.  Shes a beatiful woman who obviously has technique but not for dcc.

I feel silly, but I cried a few times. I don't really keep up with them in real time (but I've watched every show), so I didn't know about the pay raise. I was pleasantly shocked. I hope Jada and the rest of the women who fought for the pay increase know what an incredible impact they made.

I need more info about the Chandi scandal.

Kelli came off more far more human this season than I've ever seen her.

I don't hate Victoria and Tina like a lot of people do, but their segments were very shoehorned in.

100% Sad that it seemed like Amanda took the brunt of management's wrath.

When I say management, I don't mean Kelli & Judy. They might be the face on the show but Charlotte's the real puppet master. I doubt Kelli & Judy have much autonomy at all, all decisions are run by Charlotte.

So Chandi had a boy in room in the Bahamas & was suspended for it. She came back but not as a the team leader. Then KayDiana (who took Chadi's place as team lead) was suspended for alluding to the issue on TikTok. Both are no longer DCC.

A little too much family/backstory included this season, IMHO. I would've rather seen more cheering/events.

Spoiler

On reddit, there's evidence that Amanda's social media presence was an issue e.g. liking racist posts. If that's true, makes more sense why she was not chosen for sponsored events. Just wish the show was honest about it because, from they showed, it appeared as if it may be backlash on the pay issue.

I'm perplexed as to why the cheerleaders post questionable things on social media. I can only think it's immaturity. It seems the organization has gotten laxer over the years about what the women can post, but I'm almost positive they have a clause in their contracts about social media. I am not in the spotlight by any stretch of the imagination, and no one can find me on social media without knowing my non-identifying usernames. Employers have been looking up potential and current employees' online footprint for years.

I thought she meant that her rookie sisters didn't do their jobs because they didn't put her name down to be a group leader. TK was S-A-L-T-Y about that!

VK still annoys but I will say that my feelings toward her softened quite a bit after rewatching season 1 and hearing the shit TK said in this season. VK never really stood a chance, and the reason why she wasn't popular with DCC but is popular everywhere else is because she was trying to recreate Tina's experience because Tina wanted to relive it through Vic.  Moving to NY and getting away from Tina is probably the best thing Vic's done in her adult life.

I'm in episode 4 and it does seem like Kelli is more vulnerable, or they are allowing that to show more.  Before it was a straight "this is your last night."  But I'm kind of irritated with the boo-hooing because "it'd somebody's daughter" whose dream is ending. They are ALL somebody's daughter and they all have the dream.  But because it affects you a little closer, suddenly it's a problem?  Maybe she's always been like this but if so we weren't allowed to see it.  But I don't think she's always been like this.

I was annoyed they didn't show more of the "Bad" people who tried out. Or even the ones who made it to the final round in Dallas but were not picked for Training Camp. We got a shot of the girls still sitting in the bleachers when the final person was named to TC, but that was it.

Poor Dayton. I hope she is able to move on and find her niche. She's gorgeous and a great dancer, but I don't think DCC is right for her, or a healthy environment for her. That being said, I like her more than Victoria.

That scene with Madie and her family and boyfriend-it seemed like she was retiring and moving home? They flashed to a wedding invite on her family's fridge and I thought it was for her. But then she said she was trying out again. I'm glad-that boyfriend  wasn't much to look at, sorry!

I really liked Jada and the leadership she showed in fighting for fair pay.

I never would have imagined that Chandi's story would have ended that way! She seemed so sweet and innocent. I think her breakup really messed her up.
