An enthralling premiere of this South African crime thriller. A young man goes missing in Mitchell's Plain in 1994, and the police approach psychologist Dr. Micki Pistorius to help with the case.

Air Date: February 21, 2024

Micki is asked by the Cape Town police department to join a task force working the Station Strangler case - 22 boys have gone missing since 1986. She’d be the first profiler to work with law enforcement on a case in South Africa. Lt. Chris Eksteen has requested for a profiler instead of an additional detective, against Colonel Venter’s wishes - his boss. They need another way into the case.

The scenes at the dune where Micki spots a small hand sticking out of the sand and when Joey’s body is found are truly heartbreaking. 😢

Micki helps the police eliminating one previous suspect, Leroy. They also identifies a copycat/plagiarist who models himself after Berkowitz.

There’s one weird but slightly funny scene. It’s Saturday and it’s Micki’s birthday. She buys herself a birthday cake, then she gets called to the station. So she brings the cake there. One of the detective cuts the cake and passes it around while Col. Venter is lecturing Micki, accusing her of being a distraction to the investigation. 😅

I like that Micki has no problem challenging and standing up to an old school cop like Col. Venter in a professional manner.

One negative thing about her character - Micki is a chain smoker. 👎🏻
