paul4295 February 26 Share February 26 More auditions from the judges' home towns and LA (in random order, of course). Discuss. 1 Link to comment
Annber03 February 26 Share February 26 That guy's song about his wife and nuts was...something. It broke my brain a little to be reminded that this year marks 20 years since Fantasia won her season of "Idol". 1 Link to comment

JayDub1987 February 27 Share February 27 I think we had 2 more people get announced as "Top 10," bringing the season total to 7 (6 from Katy, 1 from Luke), and they already picked the winner. I'm guessing they put 16 people in the Top 10 before auditions are over, and pick 3 winners. Enjoyed a few of the auditions this week, which is more than I could say for week 1. I've liked the Singing Barber for a while, so that's cool. Liked the Slade guy (the kid who has a kid). Loretta Lynn is an icon, so I'll definitely root for her granddaughter. Enjoyed the guy who came in as the piano player and wound up getting a ticket much more than the girl he played piano for. 4 Link to comment
Kenz February 27 Share February 27 I'm not sure labeling so many singers as belonging in the top ten does them any favors. Did I hear correctly that the last singer, Abi, was pronounced maybe the best singer ever on American Idol? That puts a lot of pressure on her. She was outstanding though, and I loved her sweet, humble disposition. On a shallow note, can Katy Perry's hairstylist quit with the greasy looking tendrils lying about Katy's face? Katy is a beautiful woman who doesn't need such distracting hair mechanisms. 1 Link to comment

I'm not sure that means the best ever or just in the time since they've been judges. They also said they'd never experienced the crew clapping, either. Abi was lovely, and I've re-watched her a couple of times. 1 Link to comment

She was a lovely singer and person, certainly a better choice for a platinum ticket than the anointed ones last year (and I like the change of handing them out later instead of wasting them on someone early on when better people come up later), but the huge focus of attention seems like too much at this stage of the competition. Like, an entire hometown parade while still in the audition phase? That's a lot. I don't think we'd ever get another Kelly Clarkson type winner, someone who got next to no tv time and wound up winning anyway. There have to be lots of golden ticket winners who don't even make the broadcast given the huge chunks of time being devoted to the select few. Link to comment
