Do we have any categories this go-round specifically for competitive reality?  I'm not sure if this was the intent of the original questioner, but it got me thinking - where would something like "Jeopardy! Masters" be eligible?

Or are you saying, "competitive reality" is a subset of reality so game shows would indeed be eligible?

@SoMuchTV They can be nominated for Favorite/Least Favorite Reality Shows, and whatever else might apply, like Moment Categories that don’t specifically say are for scripted shows only.

As I'm thinking of shows to nominate and trying to go back to what shows I've watched since December, I'm starting to remember shows that fall under the eligibility window that I forgot about.

Even with the awards season now being twice a year, I'm STILL missing shows here and there.

It's why I started a spreadsheet last year to make note of shows to nominate for these awards come time.

I should make a document to track moments I love as they happen, so I can nominate them when the time comes.  I watch so few shows, it's easy for me to just scan my home page and make note of which shows aired during the eligibility window, so I can nominate those in show and character categories, but I have a hard time with the moments categories -- something may have had me practically on the floor laughing back in December, but it's not likely to spring to my mind in June.

Category suggestion for the future: Best Kids Show (I don't have a clever title)  Also it should be clarified somewhere which airdate is eligible for shows with different U.K./U.S airings.

Thanks, please feel free to submit your suggestion in the next member-suggested category nominations. Re US/UK airings - it's always the first airing of a show that is eligible wrt dates, regardless of where it first aired.

Manifest season 4 episodes 1-10 dropped on Netflix on November 4, 2022, and episodes 11-20 dropped on June 2, 2023.
Does it qualify for this round of Awards?

The eligibility period is December 1, 2022 - May 31, 2023. So no. It qualified last time and it will qualify next time but not this time.

That makes me wonder… are “split seasons” considered individual seasons for eligibility purposes?  Because otherwise 10 episodes out of 20 isn’t a majority of the season so technically it would never be eligible. I don’t think that’s the spirit of the rule but maybe the rules need to address that possibility.

We haven't felt the need to spell it out specifically because it doesn't come up much, but if we feel a significant period of time has elapsed between a season "split" then we will usually allow them to be counted separately. We did this for the split final season of Supernatural, for instance.

Likewise, I imagine if, say, 10 episodes dropped the day before a deadline, it would probably make sense to count it for the Awards starting the day after since most would not be viewed on that day.

But no need to borrow trouble from tomorrow.

However, for now:
Maybe put a link on The Primetimers: Awards page to previous Awards results?
In addition to giving new participants a more thorough idea of how a particular category might get populated, it would allow us to verify whether one of these oddball scheduled shows has already been included in a previous Awards season.

Or you could just ask like you’re all doing now. It doesn’t matter either way re: Manifest. It was released after May 31, so it’s not eligible til next time.

I don’t know what you want a link to, the previous results are on page two of this forum but it’s just winner and runnerup.

Well, the one thing I've learned so far this awards season is that I need to check out this show I've never heard of, "Owl House".  I haven't paid enough attention to see if there's one rabid fan nominating it for everything, or it has a huge following.  There are a lot of shows I don't watch, but usually I've at least heard of them.

I'm bringing this over from the "Most Satisfying Death Scene" category. I'd been toying with nominating this one, but couldn't quite bring myself to do it. Jordan is an awful human being--played to perfection by Maria Bello--but what a horrible way to go!

There’s just something cathartic about seeing a character you hate die horribly… Or just die in general, that way they’re off my screen.

But if I really loathe the character, I'd probably rather they die off screen and not take up any more of my time.
OTOH, since we're talking TV and not IRL, it is always better to see the dead body, because otherwise they might not be really dead.
But, on the third hand, there've been a few instances of TV coroners pronouncing someone dead who pops back up in the morgue because it was faked with drugs.

Is there a way to know if we've reached our maximum number of nominations for a category?
I didn't note mine. Sorry! I think I got spoiled back in the day when the software used to tell us?
Once our nominations are added to the list, there's no way to know if they're ours.

I'm asking because I'm wondering if these 2👇 have not been added to the Favorite Writing thread because I'm over the limit for nominations for that category,
and,
if so, will other posters not nominate them because they think they've already been nominated by me?
So, should I edit my post to delete them so someone else might nominate them?

Stargirl was eligible in the last awards, but the finale aired after.  Would we be able to nominate moments from the Stargirl finale since it hadn't aired during the last period?

No. All of Stargirl’s moments still had the chance to be nominated last winter. The finale aired December 7. See how today is June 7 and we’re still in the nomination process?

The Mandalorian: The Dark Saber

I'm breathing a sigh of relief as I bring @Good Queen Jane's nomination over here to Small Talk from the "Favorite Performance by an Inanimate Object" category. Thank you!

I used up all three of my nominations for this category on the first day nominations opened. I absolutely wanted to nominate The Darksaber, but also wanted three others named. I went with the other three because I thought the Darksaber was such an obvious choice that surely another forum member would nominate it shortly after me. I've been waiting eight days for someone to come through with the nomination! I was getting nervous because the category is pretty close to full. 😄

If I had to pick an overall favorite Primetimer Awards category, I'm pretty sure this category would be it. All hail the power of props!

I completely understand this logic and in no way am I expecting any changes, but I'd bet that a lot of people have the same issue as I do, especially with traditional network shows (ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.) For some reason I do this more with genre shows than dramas or comedies. I wait for the show to finish its network run, and then binge watch the season when it's fully released to Hulu, Peacock, etc. This means I'm not up to date enough to nominate specific moments from certain shows and worse yet, I've read a couple of BIG spoilers among certain nominees. (Superman and Lois😳)

A show like Succession where spoilers were everywhere, I made sure to watch live; also competitive reality like Top Chef,  I'll watch live as it's happening.

This is a "me" problem, I just figured others have experienced it also.

I'm sorry! I know that was me, and thought about spoiler tagging it, but I did NOT want to pass up the only chance to nominate it! Believe me, I went back and forth on that because I absolutely knew there would be some people who likely hadn't watched the recent episode, but I wasn't sure the best way to handle it (hence why I waited more than a day before nominating, in hopes that more people watched).

That’s the risk of playing in the awards, spoilers are going to be there. Sometimes the spoilers are what lure me into a show that I otherwise might not watch. One of the winners of a category a couple years back was a huge spoiler for Prodigal Son but I was so intrigued by it, that I watched it.

No need for an apology. 🙂 I know I'm taking a risk of potential spoilers by participating in the Primetimers, yet I wouldn't miss them for anything. Also, you really can't effectively spoiler tag a plot point. People have to know what they're voting on!

I love Superman and Lois. I'm happy to see it nominated in several categories, even if I haven't yet watched the current season.

Semi-finals start Monday, just thought I’d inform or remind everybody that these are multiple choice polls for this first round. You don’t have to play Sophie’s Choice with these, you can pick more than one option at a time. For example:

I don't know if anyone wants to correct it now, or only if it advances to the final round, but in case you do -- in Least Favorite Writing, The Conners is misspelled (as Connors).

Bastet, this happens every year. Autocorrect is not The Conners’ friend.

Will seasonal, all-time categories likely repeat next spring, such as: "Spring Awards Special: Favorite Summer-Themed Songs"?
(I failed to notice they were not constrained by the Eligibility Timeline)

No. In all likelihood, repeat specialty categories would yield the same nominations every time. So it’ll be something different next year.

Yes, that is obvious from numerous posts in its own forum here.  I figured I'd bring it to your attention just in case, as it's spelled correctly in the other two categories in which it's nominated.

It’s not really necessary. With all the process the awards entails, typos are very low priority.

I nominated Perry Mason for a few things, but it didn't occur to me to nominate it for "Books, Schmooks: Favorite Adaptation Of Existing Source Material"! Darn.

May I campaign? For "Favorite Summer-Themed TV Episodes Of All Time," I nominated The Wonder Years - "The Lake." Because that episode is more than 30 years old (!), here's the summery summary: "The Arnolds and the Pfeiffers take their annual summer fishing trip to Lake Winnihacci. While on the trip, Kevin meets and falls in love with a local girl who seems to have a lot in common with him." You can see the end of the episode here.

I guess it's a bit of an indictment of everyone responsible for the show that absolutely nobody here (including me) thought to nominate season 3 of Sanditon (March-April 2023) for anything, whether liked or loathed.
IDK.
Is it better to hate a show than to forget it entirely within 2 months?

While we're small-talking, may I ask a possibly dumb question?  What exactly is "genre television" (as it's used on these boards)?  I thought I understood that it was a show that had some kind of supernatural aspect to it (or possibly horror?), but there were a couple nominees that I would have thought were drama or comedy, respectively.

On the other hand, something that I would have thought was a genre show, Manifest, is classified as a drama.

I poked around a bit in the FAQs but I couldn't find anything about it (but I could have missed it).

Genre is sci-fi/fantasy shows, yes. And yes, Manifest should be considered genre. I don’t know why it’s in drama in the forums, that’s not my department. I can decide which category Manifest would be included in for these awards, however. Not really applicable this year, as it wasn’t eligible anyway.

What other shows had you puzzled?

In the Favorite Genre Shows, I think I saw Leverage:Redemption and Schmigadoon.  I guess you could make a case for Schmigadoon, maybe, but I would have thought Comedy or Musical.  Leverage has some pretty far-fetched heisty stuff but I don't think it quite qualifies as fantasy.

That’s in the Drama section here on the forum and I probably would’ve noticed it if A, I had ever heard of the show and B, if it had been nominated in both sections of Drama and Genre. But since neither of those things occurred, Genre is where it lies.

Schmigadoon, however, is nominated in both comedy and genre and I didn’t notice. Since it’s classified in the forums as a comedy, it will be disregarded in the genre category. So thanks for pointing that out, we missed that!

Wow, this was a very different final round than is typical for me -- thanks to having started watching Ghosts, I had a metric shit ton of categories in which to cast a vote this time.  Usually it's about 3-5, and this time I had over 20 (all but maybe five of which were for Ghosts).  I have to admit, some of my Ghost votes were for things I don't actually think are award worthy (e.g. Jessica the car ghost as favorite new character), but since they're the only ones of the finalists I know, I still voted for them.

And, while I'm used to none or one of my nominations showing up in the final round, this time I had eight, including two in one category (two of the summer songs)!  But I'm bummed that while my nomination of "The Hamptons" from Seinfeld made the cut for favorite summer-themed episode of all time (yay), my even better nomination of "Reservations for 12, Plus Ursula" from Designing Women did not (boo).

I'm also happy, yet kind of sad, that A League of Their Own is one of the finalists for painful cancellation after it not getting any love in the last awards.  I'm just glad someone smarter than me nominated it in that category; I didn't think of it because we do have another (short) season coming, but it was announced it would only come back for that short season, so that does count as a cancellation.

Anyway, this is a lot more fun with I'm not flipping from poll to poll thinking "I don't even know what any of these things are, let alone watch them" 80% of the time.
