I thought this was my imagination because none of the characters remarked on this. I assume this is a different actor. Where is adult Javi?

Javi is being played by the same actor, he just happened to grow between filming seasons 1 and 2. We don't know if Javi survives to be rescued yet so there may or may not be an adult Javi.

Lottie’s obsession with the baby, and cult-like behavior.  Scaring Shauna.

It was actually her eating the ear that first triggered the similarity to me, it reminded me of Rosemary eating the uncooked pork, and the Macca root that Lottie mentioned evoked the Tannis root they used on Rosemary. Lottie's obsession with "him" is also very much giving Minnie Castevet and Mari is certainly very Laura-Louise.

Callie telling the lie about the affair to the cop - I had my head down and she sounded exactly like Melanie Lynskey playing Shauna.  It was uncanny.

Wasn't the trance that Lottie put Natalie into exactly the same state that she claimed Travis was trying to achieve by getting strangled just a little bit?  Speaking of adjacent deaths, that's certainly one.

Poor Van - running an unsuccessful business, dealing with a crazy ex, and hooked on oxy.

"Are you talking about Akilah, the girl with the pet mouse? She's been there since season one (although the s1 actress was recast for s2)."

I guess that must be her. I mistakenly thought Mouse Girl and Crystal were the same person. If it wasn't for the mouse I wouldn't know who you meant by Akilah. PS. If Javi is the same actor, he should get checked out by a Doctor as I've never seen someone grow that much in a year! I've also never seen a TV cast pretend to not notice such a height growth!

Luckily for Nat, it was without the hanging this time, so she was probably safe. LOL. Besides, Nat already had her NDE when she OD'd.

Loved Lottie seeing the shadow of the Antler Queen in her shadow.

Given his drawing of trees, it's been suggested he's just been living on Ent-draught.

I'm mostly getting bored with this. I don't think it's the kind of story you can drag out for five years. It really feels like it's just spinning its wheels. I'm especially bored with Taissa's story. She just keeps blacking out and freaking out and it never seems to go anywhere. I'm not up for three more years of that. The next five episodes are going to have to work really hard to make me care enough to tune in for another season of this.

Misty really gave it away when she ran into the cabin and said "I lost her!" right off the bat. She should have first asked if Crystal had come back. She basically telegraphed that she already knew Crystal couldn't be there.

The poop dumping scene was so gross. And yeah, you could see the cliff dive coming a mile away.

I know I've brought this up before but Van's cheek was torn wide enough open you could see her teeth. Unless one of those girls is the most skilled plastic surgeon in the country there's no way they sewed it up again so neatly all it left was a v-shaped red line on her face. The muscles would have been severed, and that half of her face would have been permanently paralyzed. She'd be horrifically disfigured assuming she even survived such an attack. Maybe they don't want to be bothered with elaborate prosthetics or CGI but they never should have made her injury so gruesome in the first place.

I agree with you one hundred percent. I liked the pilot. But the Taissa story is not interesting to me. The adult Lottie story is also boring me.

I'm not sure if Javi's friend is corporeal or a spirit wind who talks to him, but cough it up kiddo.

Maybe this is a misread on my part, but I assumed that Javi was talking about Shauna - before the Doomcoming, she and Javi had formed a little bond, with Shauna telling him about journaling and loaning him the hunting knife to make his small wood carvings. And then DURING the Doomcoming, when she was running around after Travis with a knife, she told him to RUN. In his mind, especially having lived in the woods alone, who knows how, for two months in the winter, he interpreted "RUN" as "Don't come back."

I considered that too but then I was like that's too simple and frankly annoying so I hoped that wasn't it lol.

Same.

I assumed he was likely talking about sleepwalking Tai.

Far less annoying than a “spirit wind” 🤦‍♀️.

If he seriously meant Shauna, that's just bullshit. It's the writers trying to fake a mystery. It's already annoying they're dragging the 'Javi returns' story out like this imo. A lot of stuff this season does feel like them trying to drag out the story though tbh.

But he probably just meant Dark Tai.

And so interesting to know they were still a duo at Shauna's wedding.

I missed that, did they talk about the wedding?

I listened to a presentation at this YJ symposium where a person noted there's a surprising number of kills where the murder is sort of displaced.

Wait, what is a YJ symposium??

Is she hooked or are they actually her dead mom’s pills and she just grabbed one because she was panicking and just wanted to take the edge off?

I don't know who he means yet, but seems impossible he meant Shauna since a) she told him to run, she didn't tell him not to come back and b) he knows Shauna's name and would probably refer to her as such.

Yes, Tai and Van mentioned being at Shauna's wedding and replacing the guest pen with a nudie pen, horrifying Jackie's mother. LOL.

It was this I saw a link to - https://baftsshorror.weebly.com/no-return-a-yellowjackets-symposium.html

I wondered that too. Seems possible she just kept them for the times she really needs them and panicked at having Tai there. But I know she could also be an addict.

I thought they were her mom’s pills and she just grabbed one because they were right there and she was stressed. Can’t blame her!

No new episode this weekend? Why????  Please tell me they are not taking an extended break!!!

I don't know why but it's only 1 week, thankfully. The next episode premieres May 5th and according to TVDb there are no more breaks.

Poor Krystal. This was the first death that felt purely expendable and without any real emotional impact. I’d be shocked if she even gets a mention past this episode unless it revolves around them eating her.

Ouch, Krystal really should have played it cool until she got back to the cave, she had to have realized what Misty was capable of. No one even seemed to react to her being dead, now the only mention she'll probably get is when everyone is dividing her up into Krystal Kreme's.

Callie is really becoming her mothers daughter, it was weirdly cute when she shyly asked her parents if she fixed things by feeding the cop the "moms having an affair with dads best friend" story and Shauna was clearly proud. The Sadecki's have really become a stronger family after this whole blackmail/murder thing happened. I also loved when Callie asked about the secret and both Jeff and Shauna raised their heads slowly at the same time, and that Jeff was more upset about an adult cop dating his teenage daughter than anything. Yeah, that's super creepy.

Its nice seeing Van again, running a record store seems like something she would do.

It just occurred to me that when Javi said ‘she told me not to come back’ that he might have meant she told him not to come back to where he had been hiding (perhaps something having to do with the tree he drew) and not that she told him not to come back to the cabin.

you clever writers you, giving just a little to peak our interest but not giving anything away. ok so we know javi is connected to this mysterious 'she'. that rules out travis or coach. i think we all assume the corpse in the attic is male due to the porn mags, but what if the corpse is a female?? my god my head hasn't hurt this much since trying to decipher Lost's plotlines.

It was a video store, selling/renting VHS tapes (not even DVDs). Very old school, clearly Van is clinging to the time of her youth.

If someone told me that she destroyed a transmitter that probably would have facilitated a rescue, and we were standing next to a toilet cliff, I would play nice until we returned to the cabin.

I would like to think that I would too, but realistically, the shock of hearing that someone destroyed the best chance of rescue not by accident, but on purpose, because she liked the attention might make me react without thinking.

You’re right.

And I am also watching and judging as an old and, I hope, more mature person.

Me too. :-) There is plenty to second-guess with the older versions of the characters. Taissa is going to some kind of therapy, but doesn't seem to tell her therapist about the most important things, and I'd think that if you are is such trouble, you'd do that. Also, how long has it been since the election? Why is she not having to meet with people and reporters, especially after a big car accident? I think that would be news!
