This show is preposterous!  And I am here for it!  The Vice President is being made to resign because of her husband's misbehavior, yet VP Keri Russell is an okay idea even though her husband is a mass of liabilities?  The spy world is so bizarre.  There will be more reveals.  It's going to be hard not to watch the rest of it today.

This show must have cost a fortune to film.  It looks great.

This show has Homeland DNA (the showrunner wrote for Homeland, apparently), so I appreciate that.  Maybe Mandy Patinkin will make a crossover visit.

Keri should wash and brush her hair.  This is obviously a choice by the showrunners.

This was probably my favorite episode of the season. I loved the different conversations Kate had, culminating in her discussion with the President at the end. I thought the variety of scenes really showed off her skills.

I was deeply uncomfortable with her beating up her husband- not because he seems to be a good guy (he doesnt) but playing that kind of assault for laughs doesn’t do it for me.

I liked her with the president at the end.

I'm all confused a out her needing to be married to be VP.  It sounded like she didn't need to be married if she doesn't need to survive a campaign but now Billie wants her to be president?

I thought the same thing, I couldn't help laughing. I think she was unleashing years of frustration of all the shit he's put her through over the years and this was the last straw, especially considering all the drama surrounding them. But he definitely needs her (emotionally anyway) more than he needs her.

That’s not fake Biden. Biden is known for his niceness. Nor is he fake Trump. He’s somewhere in between. I also didn’t like the fight. I mean what was he supposed to do lie? She was really trying to HURT him. I also just think though I LOVE Keri Russell, she isn’t funny. Imagining Katherine Hepburn looking wounded at Cary grant then punching him would be funny. Or Carole Lombard punching gableZ you’d know it came from immense heartbreak and pain. But Keri just seems furious and fury alone isn’t funny.

That story about Hal stealing a plane in Kabul seemed a bit contrived. Why would he steal a 230-passenger plane, instead of something smaller?

I've given up. I've tried and tried to get into this, because  most  people  say how enjoyable it is. I like Keri Russell,  but something  about her acting,  just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's the producing and the acting.

Same. I fast-forwarded through it. Why is it ok for a woman to physically assault a man? If the roles were reversed, there would be outrage.  

On the other hand, I have zero issues with the swearing which I've seen several complaints about. Maybe since it sounds just like the way I speak. ;)

They have talked about trying to rebuild US foreign relations, since I think a previous administration. So I assume that Trump, or a Trump-like president happened in their world.

What’s throwing me off a bit is the mix of real and fictional…  like, the war in Ukraine and Brexit and US recommitting to NATO etc. are all still recent so it seems like the current year … but clearly years’ worth of drama from another timeline has resulted in this president, a VP embroiled in a scandal, and an unstable British PM.

That was weird for me too. The PM also says "his majesty's government" which I assume means that either Charles is the monarch or it is someone completely different.

These shows typically work better if you just never see the world leaders and don’t have that cognitive dissonance… but it kinda works here so far?  It’s still really weird, though.

Who says it is ok? Shows depict life and those things happen.  It isn’t ok to shoot someone but they show that in half the shows now.

I don’t know why I haven’t settled into this, because I think it’s amusing, and I like the actors. 
so, her husband was partly wanting to keep her married to him. He may think she’s the perfect person for the job, but he’s also trying to trap her into staying.

Makes sense because this is the show I wish Homeland had been.

I love the contrast of Keri Russell's unambiguous American sensibilities contrasted with polite British understatement. Paraphrased:
"Is that what begging sounds like?"
"If the President could make a statement..."
"For fuck's sake! If the house is on fire, tell me it's on fire!"
