S05.E05: I Gotta Feeling

Mariana struggles to navigate her changed relationship with Evan. Dennis and Davia are both busy in their careers, but are they still able to make time for one another? Alice, Malika, and Gael let off steam at a local Queer Night.

I actually agreed with the Bulk Beauty ladies. Just because Marianna doesn't like New Evan's attitude, doesn't mean he doesn't have a right to make his own decisions. 

Alice's comment about how Sumi had an affair with one of her friends. Didn't she almost marry that friend? Are we supposed to forget that part?

I like Davia and she seems like a decent enough singer. But this play she is in sounds absolutely terrible.

I feel like Dennis made a mistake hiring the guy who wants to take over everything over the sweet girl who seems hard working. Also, he seems to be making a mistake opening a restaurant in LA. That is not an easy business and I thought he wanted less stress. Is his food truck now just going to sit empty?

Gael has been through a lot recently. Glad he got to have some fun.

I liked the guy Gael hooked up with. Hope we see him again. He was sweet. 
 

Poor Donatello. Daddy doesn’t love him anymore. 
 

Davia has a nice voice but that song was so stupid.

I'm pretty sure that what Marianna was doing is literally illegal! If you're somebody's proxy because they're incapacitated and then they wake up -- you're not legally in charge anymore. Unless I missed a scene where they explained some sort of loophole. That did not sit well with me at all! Faking to the board that he's still comatose? Damn, Marianna!

Maybe the amnesia means he is still unable to fullfill his role?

But Evan's lawyer did tell Marianna she was still his proxy and advised her not to tell anyone at Spekulate that Evan was awake. So if that is illegal, she is getting bad advice.

Oh, I missed the lawyer telling her that. That seems very bizarre!

It was Evan's lawyer who told her not to say anything, so I don't think she's on the hook legally, for not disclosing. Evan's doctor also told her to not stress him out. He's still very early in recovery.

As his health proxy, as well as his work proxy, I think she was trying to follow the lawyer and doctor advice and act on his behalf, doing what she thought he would want if he was "in his right mind". They said he might remember things in time, and it's very early in that process.

I'm not sure why the other guy from work was allowed to visit if Evan is that fragile. If she is still his health proxy, she could arguably have the right to approve his guest list. 

She seems to be trying to do what he would want. It's not like she cares about turtles, or wanted the job at all. I think she's in a bad situation.

He might recover his memory and be upset that she undercut his goals, for example. "Why would you do that!? You know this was important to me!"

I do agree that if this new way of being is how he lands, then he has a right to make his decisions. But I think Mariana is in a grey area right now, since the lawyer told her she's still in charge and the doctor told her it's unclear if Evan's current state is his new normal or just a transient thing.

I liked that Gael fell apart and admitted how stressed he is. He really has been trying to hold things together for a long time. Not just becoming a parent, but also the whole situation with Isabella. I also liked the guy he hooked up with.

Agree that the musical Davia is in seems terrible. Why do shows feel like we need to see their actors sing, just because they can? Especially when the show is crap?

Also agree Dennis made a mistake. If he doesn't know what he's doing and isn't confident about his ability to manage a restaurant, he shouldn't open one. You never hire someone who disrespects you in the interview. That guy is going to be trouble.

I also think the two of them not being honest with each other about their days is tiresome.

Sumi sure is condescending towards Alice.  Alice has a legitimate reason to have trust issues with her, and also Sumi declined going out with Alice because she said she wanted to go to sleep early, and then went out with her other friends. The combination triggers their issues. But at least they worked it out, for now. In general, I find their relationship exhausting and annoying, though.

I'm not in favor of scheming to win someone back. If Malika wants her ex back, then be direct about it. I don't like the whole gaming mentality. Also, did her boss suddenly stop asking her to work overtime? Maybe the show got bored with that story.

I think I'm really losing patience with adults who act like tweens. A lot of the time, the kids in The Fosters were more mature than these idiots.

Even though Evan is awake, he may still be medically incapacitated and unable to fulfill his duties because of his health (like short term disability). He would have to take the proxy away from Mariana, he hasn’t, Mariana hasn’t done anything wrong.

Yes. If he can't even be told about what is happening, and he goes into a medical crisis from the slightest stress, then he's not fit to take over the job again, at least not until that is past. He is also still an in-patient, and focused on his recovery. The job Mariana is doing is time and energy intensive and Evan isn't able to do it while he's this busy with rehab.
